Everytime I pause a podcast, it restarts

Anytime I am listening to a podcast on my desktop, if I pause the podcast it will restart at the beginning of the podcast. Additionally, if I try and click in the seek bar, it will fast forward about 2 seconds and stop. If I try to click and drag the bar in the seek area, when I release the mouse it will jump right back to the beginning.

I have the same problem.  Using iTunes 12.1.0.50 on an iMac running Yosemite

OS X Mavericks download has paused and will not restart. How can I get it to restart?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
First, see if the download is paused and if you can resume it. To do so, open the Mac App Store, go to Purchases and press "Resume" next to OS X Mavericks.
If the download does not carry on, I would recommend you to restart and start the download all over again.

  • What should I do if the encryption for FileVault has paused and won't restart?

What should I do if the encryption for FileVault has paused and won't restart?

If you don't already have a current backup of all data, back up before proceeding. There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
Start up in Recovery mode. When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select Disk Utility.
In the Disk Utility window, select the icon of the startup volume from the list on the left. It will be nested below another disk icon, usually with the same name. Click the Unlock button in the toolbar. When prompted, enter the login password of a user authorized to unlock the volume, or the alternate decryption key that was generated when you activated FileVault.
Then, from the menu bar, select
              File ▹ Turn Off Encryption
    Enter the password again.
You can then restart as usual, if the system is working. Decryption will be completed in the background. It may take several hours, and during that time performance will be reduced.
If you can't turn off encryption in Disk Utility because the menu item is grayed out, you'll have to erase the volume and then restore the data from a backup. Select the Erase tab, and then select
              Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
    from the Format menu.
You can then quit to be returned to the main Recovery screen. Follow these instructions if you back up with Time Machine. If you use other backup software, follow its developer's instructions.
Don't erase the volume unless you have at least two complete, independent backups. One is not enough to be safe.

    1. Download a copy of the latest firefox from http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html (full dmg package)
    2. '''Trash''' the current Firefox application to do a clean install.

  • How do I pause a podcast?

I'm trying to listen to my first podcast "StarTalk" by Neil deGrasse Tyson.  I run a helpdesk & have plenty of time to listen but get frequent calls.  When I get a call there is no pause option, only stop.  Then it starts over.  This makes podcasts 100% unuseable.  Am I missing something? Or is it really this poorly implemented.

First thing - is the programme listed under Podcasts in your iTunes Library or in one of the other sections? If it's in one of the other sections, which one?
Or - are you trying to listen to it in the iTunes Store? I've just tried doing that and I wonder if this is what you are doing. If so, then you're listening to a stream, not the Podcast.
A Podcast is a "file" (i.e. music, speech etc etc) that has been fully downloaded into your iTunes Library via the Podcast delivery method (or system) before you start listening to it. Furthermore, if you subscribe to a Podcast, then future episodes are automatically downloaded into your iTunes Library as they become available. Once delivered to your iTunes Library as Podcast, the play options are different. You can pause the programme and when you start playing it again, it will resume from the last point you were at. This will happen even if you play something else in the meantime. (See below for futher explanation.)
However, if you are looking in the iTunes Store, and listening to an epsiode in the store, then that is a stream; in other words, the audio is being downloaded as you listen to it and it is not being delivered to you as a Podcast. In this event, then you are correct, the only option is to stop the audio and when you re-start it, it will start from the beginning.
    Explanation:
By default, all Podcasts downloaded as Podcasts by iTunes are set to Remember playback position. As far as I can tell, iTunes turns this option on for you, but only if the file is downloaded as a Podcast. (So if you download something, from the internet, described as a Podcast, but not through the Podcast delivery method, it will not have Remember playback position set on.)
Subscribing to Star Talk is free, so you could try that and see if that suits your needs. I believe it will and you can unsubscribe at any time. The latest episode will download there and then while subsequent episodes will be automatically downloaded as they become available (iTunes will check periodically for new episodes for every Podcast you have subscribed to.) If you want the past episodes, there is usually an option to get them too. Alternatively, if you select the FREE button (at the right hand end of the episode's description) this will download just that episode. You would then have to repeat this for each episode.
Let us know how you get on. If my answer does not address your problem, we can then look at alternative explanations.

  • Long pauses in podcasts feature

I have itunes 11.1.4. I download a lot of podcasts. Now when I try to go to podcasts, and refresh, or click on any podcast or its info, and sync to my ipod or iphone, there is a long pause for each of these steps, about 1-2 minutes each (spinning pinwheel). I had no problem for years. What's different?

Some options you might find useful are
    -Xloggc:gc.log -XX:+PrintGCApplicationConcurrentTime -XX:+PrintGCApplicationStoppedTime
This will show you when the application actually stops the world. Note: there are other reasons an application can stop and it shows you them all not just GCs.

  • If I pause a podcast download, it won't resume but starts over. Know why?

When downloading podcasts if I click on PAUSE ALL, and then RESUME ALL, I lose whatever has already downloaded and the downloads start from the beginning. It doesn't PAUSE..it literally STOPS. It never did this before this week. I used to be able to shut down my computer and go back to iTunes (even days later) and my podcasts would RESUME downloading where they had left off. Why the change? Anyone know? Definitely a downgrade....
Are these discussions viewed by people who are up on the current details of iTunes? Just wondering....

If you have had a credit card previously entered, you'll get this notice from time to time as as security precaution. Just go into your account information and make sure all the credit card information is current and correct. If you have never had a credit card in your account, or confirming all the information doesn't help, go here:

and follow the instructions to report the issue to the iTunes Store.

  • Recovered Files in Wastebasket everytime after I shut down and restart

    Dear forum,
I'm new to the Mac. One of the bizarre things I've noticed is that nearly everytime I shut down and restart my MacBook (2 Ghz Intel Core Duo with Mac OS X 10.4.10) Recovered files appear in my wastebasket. These files are random in type: I've seen address book files or iPhoto related files or, in many cases, files that I cannot identify. Am I supposed to "revive" these files and if so how do I get them back to where they should be?
    Thanks,
    Steve

    Nothing too important

  • BBC Podcast Interruptions & restarting at Beginnin...

One of the main reasons I invested in Broadband was so I could enjoy internet radio.   However, I have been very disappointed because I am unable to listen to Podcasts of BBC Radio programmes.
I listen using my Roberts Internet Radio and BT Broadband.   However, the Podcasts are interrupted, by what appear to my untrained ear to be breaks in the signal, followed by the Podcasts restarting themselves (having reconnnected to a signal) from the start of the programme.   Does anyone else suffer from this problem?   Is there a solution?   Any help or advice would be much appreciated.
    Ian Foster

    Ian,
I sort forum messages from a number of RSS feeds and message filters, so anything with my name in it gets directed to a special folder.
If you do need more help with the WA701ND, than is on my website, then simply post in this thread, making sure that it contains my name, and I should see it.
I do not use the "forum subscriptions" options any more, as it was generating too many e-mails.
I think you will find that the WA701ND is much more capable of handling streaming media.

  • Nano pauses during podcast playback

I have the latest Nano, but recently I have found that when listening to podcasts it will pause playback every 90- seconds or so.
Is there anything I can do to correct this?

This happens with all of your podcasts?  Does this happen with your music tracks as well?  Does this happen in iTunes as well when you play these podcasts?
Are your headphones plugged all the way in, meaning the white part of the Apple headphones is flush with the body of the Nano?

  • Podcasts are restarting iPod

This problem started shortly after upgrading to version 7 of iTunes.
Currently about 90% of the podcasts I download, whether amateur or professional, will force iPod to restart when trying to play them. I have tried restoring the iPod (purchased about a month ago) but it has had no effect.
    Any ideas?

are the podcasts that the ipod is resetting on mono mp3s?
if so, perhaps check to see if the workaround from the following document is of any help with that:

  • HT4859 pause iCloud backup and restart later?

I haven't ever backed up my phone on iCloud so now it's taking a very long time. can I pause it and restart it later? or would it just start all the way over again?

Thanks.  Good to know.  It's going to be something like 10 or 11 hours to download.  I hate slow internet.
I'll also check out the link to Mac App Store help.
Just curious those of you with fast internet how long did it take to download Lion?

We are about half way through loading Photoshop Elements 11, when it paused while we were away from the computer. We were unable to restart the downlaod, and now the download page has disappeared from the screen. What steps do we need to take to get the program we have purchased downloaded?

  • 3.1 erratic speeds & pauses on podcasts & audiobooks on original iphone

Is anyone else having this problem? I upgraded to 3.1 yesterday and when it was done I went back to listening to an audio book. The playback was so erratic that I gave up, deleted the book, downloaded it again and still had trouble. I was listening to some podcast while the audio book was downloading and they too will suddenly speed up and then pause for no reason.
This does seem to be more of a problem when I am moving around. If the iphone is sitting on a stable surface, it behaves better. Could the "shake" feature be causing any of this? I don't really want to downgrade.

I've the same problem. All playlists jumbled. Songs that don't feature in that playlist are included, as well as videos.
I have noted that, if you check out the playlists on the iPhone through iTunes: Devices>iPhone>Music or Playlist: it displays correctly, but the iPhone playlist shows something else. Also, the iPhone goes into "Updating Library ... this may take a few moments" when the iPod is selected. I've never seen that happen before this update.
I have tried reinstalling iTunes 9, the iPhone, syncing one playlist at a time. But no joy. Hope Apple find a fix soon.

  • Firefox pauses music/podcasts app when new tab loads.

Running Android 4.4.4 on a Moto G. Firefox is up to date (stable version from Play Store). When I have audio playing from BeyondPod (podcast client), Google Play Music, or Spotify and start Firefox to load a web page, the audio pauses and the widget in the notification tray goes away. Does not happen with Chrome or AOSP Browser.

The Freeze.com NetAssistant is responsible for this issue and you need to uninstall (or at least disable) that extension.
