Everytime I run mac-mini on my TV I have to change the mouse speed and the wallpaper

Could I save the configuration in order not to do this operation everytime I turn on the mac-mini?
Thank you!

Only thing I can think of at the moment is to make another user to log into when using the TV.
Open System Preferences>Users & Groups, unlock the lock, click on the little plus icon, make a new admin account, log out & into the new account.

    Generally YES.
It's possible to hold separate iTunes library's on a single machine.
Generate two new folders inside the Music folder of the Mini and name them differently; e.g. man and woman.
Copy your whole library into "man" and your wifes into "woman"
Go to sharing in the system settings of the Mini and share the Music folder in your network.
After copying the whole library's to the Mini you may point iTunes to the new location at startup by holding the option key (alt) at the keyboard.
iTunes will then ask you where the library is located.
Point it to the matching library on the Mini.
    That's all.

PS ... If you both use only the Mini you have to setup a user account for each and just copy the whole library to the Music folder in particular.

  • How to run: Mac Mini + Leopard + 1080p ?

Can someone tell me on how to run Mac Mini + Leopard + 1080p? I tried running SwitchRex X 3.7.10 and I was not able to make it work. I read DisplayConfigX may work. Thanks.

Hello, see how many of these you can answer...
See if the Disk is issuing any S.M.A.R.T errors in Disk Utility...

Open Console in Applications>Utilities & see if there are any clues or repeating messages when this happens.
Open Activity Monitor in Applications>Utilities, select All Processes & sort on CPU%, any indications there?
How much free RAM & free Disk space do you have also, click on the Memory & Disk Usage Tabs.

In the Memory tab of Activity Monitor, are there a lot of Pageouts?

  • Mac Book Pro - Mac Mini; sharing stopped working after IP/Net change

I apologize in advance for the length of this, I've got a complex issue that I've been unable to diagnose with the usual published notes...
I have a Mac Book Pro and Mac Mini. I previously had sharing and screen sharing working between both systems.
About a month ago I switched internet providers (to AT&T U-verse) and their router required me to make major changes to my internal network as listed below.
Since those changes the Mac Book Pro can not access the Mac Mini in any way via Finder options, but still shows it in Finder->Sharing. I can access the Mini via shell access (telnet/ssh, ftp, www) but nothing via the normal automatic Bonjour type accesses (file sharing, screen sharing).
Conversely, the Mac Mini has no difficulty accessing the Mac Book Pro in any way.
List of the significant changes that were made:
    1) My main router was replaced by the AT&T router.
    2) The AT&T router does not allow any fixed IP addresses within the network, requiring all of my network shemes to get re-done (I used a mix of fixed and DHCP previously).
    3) The IP range changed for all computers due to the router.
    4) Both Mac Mini and Mac Book Pro were and still are on DHCP.
    5) The Mac Mini's wireless was disabled and it was plugged directly in to the Ethernet port on the main router.
The behavior of the system is as if the Mac Book Pro is locked on the old IP address (but only in the context of the Bonjour services). Although I can't prove this, there was a brief period where both the old and new router and ethernet and plugged connections were all active on the same network and during this period the Mac Book Pro accessed the Mini without difficulty (the old IP was bound to the wireless port on the Mini).
Unfortunately it wasn't until after I had exchanged this other router that I realized that things were not working correctly.
Another unusual clue, the Sharing used to say use afp://<mininame> to access from Windows and now it says afp://QVT_529. I have to assume this is something to do with the DHCP from the AT&T router but all of the AT&T system screens show the <mininame> properly bound to the active DHCP port and nothing hinting at what the QVT_529 references. Going to this address fails and I can't ping it from terminal.
I've been scouring the net for the last month trying different things with absolutely zero results on any front. All settings check out perfectly. No firewall changes were made. No evidence that anything is out of place.
However, I can still only connect in one direction. It just doesn't make sense.
Some things I don't know that I think might help me resolve the issue:
    1) Any recommendations with how I might be able to get a better view of what Mac Book Pro might be trying to connect to via the Finder->Sharing link to the computer?
    2) Any way to probe the Mac Mini's file or screen sharing features from the terminal (going around the Finder link)?
    3) Any possible issues with local networks that might interfere with these services? (there are several switches/hubs between and other devices on the network, but everything checks out at the IP flow level)
    Thanks in advance,
    Barney

This is just a stab in the dark since I haven't run into this and I don't know all the steps you have taken (or researched.)
It seems to me that since it is working right from the mini->MB Pro, then the problem should reside on the mini's broadcast side or the mini's OSX firewall. If your firewall is set correctly (as you said), my guess would be that network or firewall preferences have been corrupted by combining multiple, conflicting settings for the same preference due to hardware changes. If I was experiencing this (assuming that every setting on the routers/switches and the firewalls (router/OSX) etc were 100% correct), I would create a new user account and verify that the problem is still manifesting itself. If this solves the problem, I know it is the user account that is messed up and not the OS. If this doesn't solve the problem, I turn off any sharing services, delete the resident Locations (by the drop-down menu in the Network System Preference) as well as the list of Connections (left pane of Network SP) and restart the machine. I then set-up new network, sharing services and firewall settings after the restart. This has solved all of my network sharing issues on my equipment, home and work. (Permissions not with-standing.) If this hasn't solved my problem, my next step would be to reset NVRAM, PRAM and clean system caches (using OnyX.) Reinstall of OSX commences then. I don't know enough of UNIX to be comfortable in terminal so if my steps above failed, I would be coming here to ask or, if I thought the problem resided on non-Apple hardware, the offending hardware support channels.
I don't know if this helps, but I hope so.
    D.

i have a mac mini mid 2011, this device have; 2,3GHz and 2 Gb Memmory.I want to upgrade the memory and i need the list of supported memory modules. i am from turkey.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
The Mid 2011 Mac mini supports 8 GB of memory officially, but you can install up to 16 GB of RAM, so you can use 2, 4 and 8 GB modules. You can buy more RAM from OWC or Crucial.
If you are looking for memory at a local shop, make sure you buy 1333 MHz DDR3 memory. See > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4432?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US

  • What's wrong with my trackpad? It was working fine, then I installed Lion 10.8.1 and now the mac mini won't see it, when I press the on button, a light comes on after a brief pause, stays on for a second or so, and then goes off, still no trackpad..

Ok, so if you haven't worked it out, this is my first post. My problem is all in the title, but once more won't hurt..
I have a bluetooth trackpad which has been attached to my mac mini for a few months now, with only the occasional connection lost, connection found saga that everyone seems to go through. Earlier today, I used the trackpad to upgrade to OSX 10.8.1 nd when the computer rebooted, no trackpad could be found. I've put fresh batteries in, I've tried rebooting the mac mini, I've checked sys preferences and am currently using an old usb keyboard which is v flimsy so forgive any typos please.
The light comes on about a second after the on button is pressed, (whether the button is held down or not) and then goes off after a second, still no trackpad is found..
    Why?!!!!

No, not paired to anything else, fresh out the box connected to the mac mini I bought at the same time, never been paired with anything else.
I think it's a hardware issue. As I don't seem to be able to get it to turn off.

  • Mac mini server has suddenly stopped seeing one or the other bluetooth devices! Batteries have been changed and they will connect to an older Mac mini. Server will now only see one or the other but not both.

My Mac mini server has suddenly stopped seeing one or the other bluetooth devices, either the wireless keyboard or the mouse( both apple products) have tried new batteries, at first it was the mouse that stopped responding, but upon rebooting the computer now the keyboard will not respond and the mouse works. Both work fine on an older Mac mini that I hooked back up to check.

There is absolutely no reason why they should not bothe be able to connect to your WiFi network. The easiest place to start would be to reboot your router. Unplug it for about 30 seconds and then plug it back in again. I would also restart both the iPad and the iPhone.

  • Mac mini solid state hard drive does that replace the 2 by 1T hard drive

mac mini solid state hard drive does that replace the 2 by 1T hard drive

There wouldn't be enough room in the Mac Mini enclosure for 2 Fusion Drives since they are really just a SSD and a Platter HD working in conjunction. Could really be smoking in a 4 Drive RAID box though. I am speculating here but there is only 1 additional partition allowed in the Fusion Drive. My thought is that the current Management Software would get thoroughly confused with multiple partitions probably due to mount points not being able to register in a normal manner. IMHO the Fusion Drive is another crutch for the normal/average user that doesn't want to be bothered with file management protocols.

What does apear on the screen?  You could start up in safe mode by holding down the shift key while starting up. You should then go to a login screen. Or you could hold down the R key, which should get you to the restore  option. Then you could use the utilities to repair permissions and repair you boot volume. If you use the restore option, do not restore. go to the top and use the utilities option.

  • Mac Mini as 600 cd Music Server - up to the task??

I have two 400 disc cd-changers that I am endeavering to replace with a Mac Mini. My wife bought me (bless her soul!) a 60gb core duo mini for Christmas. We have an iMac in our office and love the convenience of using Front Row with our 200+ iTune songs. We love it so much that we'd like to have the same convenience of perusing our cd collection in our living room - plus it would mean getting rid of two behemoth-sized CD-changers.
    My Question:
Is the mini and Front Row up to the task? I want to use the mini exclusively for music. Any problems with feeding nearly 600 cds into the drive of the mini? I plan on ripping nearly all CD's using Apple lossless encoding (I'm an audio geek). ..I know that I will have to buy an outboard hard-drive (probably a 500GB LaCie).
Secondly, any good recommendations for a cheap monitor? Since I will only be using this to select music, create playlists, etc.. it need not be top tier in terms of resolution, etc.. That said, I would like it to be flat and slim so as to fit on the table next to our stereo system.
Many thanks to all readers/ responders!

Firstly, thank you all responders. ..Your input was indeed considered.
Well, I did exactly as I endeavored and turned my new Mac mini into a music server. So far so good. A few comments regarding the process:
Expanded capacity: I purchased a LaCie 250GB and directed iTunes to store all music on it. It works flawlessly. My concerns that Front Row would function sluggishly due to using an outboard drive and due to the sheer size of the library were unfounded. So far, I have not had a single mishap.
Monitor: Though I would have preferred something in the 6-10" range, the smallest I could find was a 15" Envision for $79 (after $120 mail in rebate). Though a bit ostentatious for my modest digs, it works great.
Outboard CD-Rom/ DVD Drive: Acting on the advice of an employee at an Apple store, I elected to use an outboard CD-Rom drive rather than extract the 600 cds using the integrated drive on the Mac Mini. For $70, it seemed like a good idea. ..Easier to replace an outboard drive, than have to ship the Mini back for service.
One small problem encountered: After hooking the whole thing up and playing a few tracks back, I noticed that if I held my ear close to my speakers (Vandersteen 3A Sig), I could hear a faint hum from the tweeter. Dang, a ground loop. ..Thankfully, a $15 ground loop filter from Radio Shack took care of the problem without any harmful affects on the sound.
For >$1000, I now have a very cool music server that I expect to have great fun playing with. ..Good luck to any who might do the same.

  • Mac Mini turns on, progress bar loads slowly on the apple screen, then it just turns off. What's happening?

So the power went out and my mac mini came on when the power came back on and as it was loading the power went off again. It didn't come on for a while but when it did the mac mini would load much slower than usual on the apple screen then the progress bar would get stuck at less than 50% before the mac mini would just switch off. It doesn't restart or anything, it just turns off. Go to turn it back on again, same happens, turns off. Try to boot it up in safe-mode, loads slowly then just turns off.
    Please help!

You can boot the problem Mac to Recovery like you did before. Attached the external HD and then install Yosemite to the external HD. That will erase the external HD and the external HD will have to be formatted in Mac format.
The Recovery link in my previous reply covered that.
If necessary, once installed on the external HD, boot while holding the Option  key. Choose to boot from the external HD. Once booted up use Finder to copy importent files the external HD.
I would also backup those importent file to another device/media too.
    Then replace the failed HD.
Then you can clone the external HD to the new HD
    http://nyacomputing.com/how-to-create-a-bootable-clone-of-your-mac-hard-drive/
Note that the Free SuperDuper does not clone the recovery partition to the new drive but the paid Carbon Copy Cloner does.
