Everytime I set up the Air Port, in settings, it reverts back to Timecapsule. Help.

I need help with my new Air Port. I am trying to back my iMac to it but the Time Capsule keeps taking over. I want to clear all my pictures off of the computer and keep them on the Air Port. Any thoughts?

What OS are you using on the computer.. your profile is Leopard but I doubt it.

What actual airport do you have.. is it a Time Capsule or are you using an External hard disk to an Extreme?
Are you meaning Time Capsule or Time Machine.. ie the backup software on the Mac? A Time Capsule is hardware and cannot take over anything.
Putting your pictures on the TC is a bad idea. Especially if the picture are iphoto library. The same consideration should be made to the Extreme with USB drive.. except the drive is not sealed inside the unit.. which is a plus.. on the negative side though is the speed of the USB which is super slow. An Internal disk in the TC is about 4-8 times faster than USB.

This is asked several times a day.. obviously people are struggling with their latest SSD being too small.
The TC is not suitable for network file server.. but many people having no choice press it into service as such.
It cannot be partitioned. It was and is and ever shall be a backup device for Time Machine.
Major issues.
1. No backup.. no way Time Machine can backup a network drive. No place to backup to.. So all your files will be at risk. And you will need to buy a third party like CCC to do backup.
2. The TC cannot be partitioned and mixing TM backups and data is not great.
3. The drive is slow to spin up and quick to spin down.. there is no controls.
4. iPhoto in particular can easily corrupt its entire library with wireless networking causing a disconnection to one photo. Even if you do this;;; do not move your photo library... you have been warned!!
5. iTunes will constantly lose connection to the library. The disk is too slow to respond.. itunes on the computer will constantly spit out errors. Even in the midst of streaming the TC can spin down the disk due to caching.
6. Do not use any live files on the TC no matter what else you do.. if you edit files in whatever program the file must be on the local hard disk.
7. The only suitable location for most libraries is a computer. You can plug in an external hard disk.

We have verizon DSL. Our town is very small...no cable provided so we are lucky to have what we have...some areas of our town can't even get what we have. We, didn't want to connect it directly to the Verizon device (router)....we followed the directions from Josh as well as the explicit directions provided by Apple support...it didn't work. We keep getting an error message. Does anyone have any advice ? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Unfortunately, it appears that Josh was not aware that the AirPort Express can only "extend" a wireless signal from another Apple router.
From Apple's literature:

If you already have a wireless network in your home and want to extend its range, AirPort Express can help. Just place it in range of your primary base station — an AirPort Extreme, Time Capsule, or another AirPort Express — and near the area where you want your wireless connection. Launch the easy-to-use AirPort Utility app on your iOS device or Mac, and you’re mere minutes away from long-range Wi-Fi enjoyment.
The AirPort Express is not compatible with a Verizon product for this purpose.
Your might want to have another conversation with Josh to ask his advice on how best to proceed at this point.
If you do decide to keep the AirPort Express, it will be necessary to connect it to your Verizon router using a wired Ethernet cable connection if you want the Express to provide more wireless signal coverage.

In most cable systems, the router you have will plug into your modem and just work automatically. A NAT (Network Address Translation) router takes your external IP and hands out LAN (Local Area Network) based IPs. All of the devices you are working with right now should handle the change automatically unless you've changed from the default automatic configuration.
The problem with your wireless end of this is that the iPhone is not yet 802.11n, only 802.11g. Because that router is not dual band, all of your wifi devices will be forced to slow down to 802.11g speeds. This won't matter much for each device that's connecting to the internet, as your bottleneck is still going to be there. Where you will see slowdowns is device to device connections, like transferring data between the devices.

Hi I am having Wi fi connectivity issues , while using my computer the wi fi dropped out , I can no longer connect and no networks come up. I have tried looking into the air port, trying manually to connect to the desired network with no success , it says the Wi fi is turned on. My 4s i-phone which is 2 years old cannot find any wi-fi networks not even my home network... I had the same problem two months ago but i turned off the i-phone for 8 hours and then it was okay... I went to the technician today and he told me that it means that wi-fi is broken and that i need to change it with a charge of 70 euro but i have to give my phone for 10 working days so as to be fixed... Snow Leopard breaks quite a few drivers - my Canon exhibited the same problem.
I eventually found updated drivers on the Canon website. You can try that with the HP, but if the all-in-one is more than a year or so old, don't hold your breath.
You can also try Software Update to see if it will offer new drivers, or failing that go to the Support Downloads site and search for HP updates.
In fact there's a new one for HP at the top of the list just now.
You may not necessarily want the latest one, though - check the specs to see if your model is covered; if not, search for the previous update etc.

Not sure what you mean here.
A reset will not affect any of the data on the Time Capsule hard drive. You would have to perform a completely separate and very deliberate Erase Disk operation for that to occur.
I'm not recommending that you perform a default reset, but it is an option if there is really nothing else to try.
I don't know if what you are seeing is a Mavericks issue or not, since I refuse to use any new software until at least the first major update with fixes comes along.
Another user may be able to offer more input on Mavericks.

Basically, no. That is because your PS3 is a DLNA-compliant media player. In order to steam videos from the AirPort Disk you would need a DLNA media server. Unfortunately the Extreme is not one of these.

Not sure if this answers all questions but the following was copied from the Airport Express Tech Specs.
