Hi, I am trying to get help with an update install of iTunes. When I opened iTunes the other day, it told me there was an update to version 10.6.1. When I tried to install this version I received the following message " The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. I tried to uninstall iTunes, and it would not uninstall. It gave me the following message " The path C:\documents and settings\network service\local settings\application data\apple\apple software update\iTunes.msi cannot be found. I tried running Windows fixit, but this did not solve the problem. Can anyone tell me how to finish uninstalling the old iTunes file, so I can reinstall the newest version? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Regards, Paul" The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. I tried to uninstall iTunes, and it would not uninstall. when i try to update itunes and quicktime, it stops me and says " The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable" please help.
Before trying the update again, use Microsoft's Fix it solution at http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall. Use it to uninstall iTunes and Quicktime. It bypasses this not uncommon problem. When the solution finishes, the selected program will be uninstalled. It can take several minutes and I have seen as much as half an hour.
After iTunes & Quicktime are uninstalled, try the update again. -

when trying to update itunes to 10.5 i get a message saying......the feature you are trying to use is on a network resourse that is unavailable?
Which particular .msi file does it go on to say is missing, charlotte? (Several different files might possibly be referenced in this context.)

.... package 'iTunes.msi' in the box below."
I also get the following message when I try again that the path cannot be found for iTunes.msiUnfortunately, this sort of trouble has gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (The results from mydigitallife and Major Geeks are worth checking.)
After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp. Restart the PC, and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time? -
