Open Console in Utilities & see if there are any clues or repeating messages when this happens.

Is it possible to hook up Sony Playstation 3 to Macbook Pro to watch blue ray discs on the Macbook? I don't think there is a practical way to do this. First of all, you will not be able to watch 1080p content at full size on the Macbook Pro's display since it won't fit without being scaled down. Second, there is no direct video input on the Macbook Pro. Lastly, there is no software that I know of for commercial Blu-Ray disc playback on Mac OS X, so even if you did spend the hundreds of dollars for a Blue Ray drive, you'd only be able to read/burn data or non-DRMd video (which basically excludes all commercially available movies). Don't know the answer to the Netflix question.

Does your external hard drive have it's own power supply? It should.
Is your external hard drive formatted with the NTFS file system? It won't work.
It needs to be formatted either with Mac OS Extended or FAT32.
(There are drivers available to add NTFS support to OS X but their quality is unknown, especially the "free" ones.)

Mac OS X has a built-in disk diagnostic and repair program called fsck or file system consistency check. Here’s how to verify and repair your startup disk with fsck. As soon as you hear the startup tone, press and hold Command-S on the keyboard. Keep holding down those keys until you see a black screen with white lettering. Nevermind - I answered my own question, which is I CAN"T READ ANY BOOKS I purchased in iBooks on my MacBook Pro. If I want to read on my mac I have to use Kindle or Nook. Which means any book I've already purchased through iBooks has to be read on my iPad. Kind of a drag because there are times when it's more convenient for me to read while I'm sitting with my Mac.

You can connect the iPad to your Mac's iTunes and do File > Devices > Transfer Purchases, that should copy it over to the Movies part of your library.
Depending upon what country that you are in, and whether the film studio allows it, you might also be able to re-download it on your Mac via the Purchased link under Quicklinks on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page.

Yes, if you are asking about using Time Machine to backup the Mac.

You are not thinking of deleting the photos and files on your Mac, are you? If you do this, you will have no backups for those files.
Another concern is that Time Machine backs up the changes on your Mac. At some point, Time Machine will automatically delete the photos and files from the Time Capsule.....you just don't know when this might occur.
In other words, only delete files from your Mac that you can afford to lose.

In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your iOS device, you need to delete the account from your iOS device first, then add a new account by tapping the "create Apple ID" button. (Settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit "Delete Account")

You can't do it without a computer, although once you get ios5 that necessity will be gone. I would recommend taking it into the apple store. They will do it for you.

I can see the MacBook Pro on the G5 and vice versa, I have file sharing turned on both, as well as Screen Sharing. I currently am sharing using Target Disk Mode, I want to know what other wireless options are available to me?

The mac help is: Finder window/Help/Mac Help. It provides answers to a lot of common questions, including file sharing.
As for the ethernet cable, you can either buy another one (inexpensive and available in many places including Walmart), or just unplug it from your modem temporarily and plug it back in when you're done.
As for Target disk mode, take a look at this Apple article:

As I mentioned, I prefer using the ethernet/file sharing method if I need to copy a lot of files; however, there is another way around if you have an external drive and just want to copy one or two files. Just plug the external into one computer, copy the file onto it, unplug, plug into the other computer and copy.

Thanks for all your assistance. There is no need for apologies, Migration Assistant did indeed create a second account for the MacBook data. It has just taken me some time to figure out how to access it. I now have all the MB data in one account and the MBP files in another, which suits me fine. In fact, it is an advantage in my case as it keeps the private and business aspects separated.
I will however try the fatcatsoftware to transfer all the iPhoto files to my iMac, where I keep my main photo library. and it will be of help to keep the events, etc in the transfer. As far as iTunes is concerned, I have HomeSharing on all my computers and this has obviated the need to worry about playlists being transferred successfully. However, HomeSharing did not appear to share the iPhone/iPod apps that were stored on the MB and although these have now come across with the new MacBook account on the MBP, I was wondering whether my iPhone and iPod will be recognised by the MBP and sync with it? Will I need to have the MB account open to achieve this or will the MBP recognise and sync with the iPhone/iPod automatically irrespective of which account is open?
Thanks for the tip on deauthorising my iTunes account from the MB before sellng. This I will do and I believe the best way to remove all of my data from the hard drive is to reinstall the MacOSX operating system software. Is this the right approach to securely delete everything?

If you were going to be reading and writing to a NTFS System Partition, you might have to worry about the instability messing up the operating system. However, you are reading/writing from a non system, backup device so you don't have to worry about screwing up an operating system.
I would still temporarily move my data to another device and reformat the drive for Mac OS X Extended.
