Evolution-3.8.1-1 not starting after upgrading gnome from 3.6.2 to 3.8

Hello community,
after updating Gnome to 3.8.1 yesterday, Evolution is not starting. In Terminal i get this output:
(evolution:969): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_param_spec_internal: assertion `!(flags & G_PARAM_STATIC_NAME) || is_canonical (name)' failed
Naruszenie ochrony pamięci (core dumped)
any ideas, if it has to do with gnome 3.8?

I've got this bug too.
Probably it's related to Polish (or foreign) language.
If I run
LC_ALL=C evolution
from Terminal everything works fine (but the program is in English of course).

    Please check your event log and see if you use the current runtime. A new runtime library is necessary to fix an ATL security issue, see

  • Firefox will not start after upgrade from 3.0.1

    I have Firefox 3.0.1. I would like to upgrade to 3.6, but if I try to upgrade to any version, I cannot open Firefox. It is not like the other "Will not start" problems, because in the Task Manager, firefox.exe pops up, then goes away instantly. I have tried using Safe Mode, doing a clean install by uninstalling Firefox and my profile, cleaning the registry, then using CCleaner, then trying to reinstall, but the problem persists. Sometimes firefox.exe doesn't even show up in the Task Manager. I also cannot use any version of IE(even if I wanted to), Safari or Chrome. They all have the same results. I suspect that it is not a problem with Firefox, but with my computer, but I don't what is wrong. Can anyone help me?
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
    == I upgraded from 3.0.1

    Sounds like something is killing off your browsers before they can start. I really have no idea why Firefox 3.0.1 is working somehow, though.
    Do a malware check with a few different programs, you need to use all, because not all programs detect the same malware.
    For each of these, make sure they are updated after installing, and run a full scan.

    Thanks,
    Mohammad

    Hi Mohammad,
    You are right, this error seems to indicate that the script environment cannot find the required java classes.
    Please try the following:
    1. Open a shell (command prompt) on the computer on which you created the domain.
    2. Change to the directory in which you located the domain.
    By default, this directory is BEA_HOME\user_projects\domains\domain_name, where BEA_HOME is the top-level installation directory of Oracle WebLogic products.
    3. Set up your environment by running one of the following scripts:
    bin\setDomainEnv.cmd (Windows)
    bin/setDomainEnv.sh (UNIX)
    On Windows, you can use a shortcut on the Start menu to set your environment variables and invoke WLST (ToolsWebLogic Scripting Tool).
    4. Invoke WLST by entering: java weblogic.WLST
    The WLST prompt appears.
    wls:/(offline)>
    5. Then you can start the AdminServer with WLST
    startServer('AdminServer','ClassicDomain','t3://localhost:7001','weblogic','password','/home/oracle/Oracle/Middleware/user_projects/domains/ClassicDomain')
    This link may also help: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12840_01/wls/docs103/config_scripting/manage_servers.html#wp1009240
    Hope your issue gets resolved.
    Thanks,
    Cris

  • Firefox will not start after upgrade: error code 2324

    I upgraded Firefox on my workstation running Windows 7 Enterprise (64-bit). The stub installer downloads and runs through the installation, but does not start Firefox automatically. If I click on the link in the taskbar, nothing happens. Same with the one pinned to the start menu. If I go to the Mozilla folder and load Firefox from there, I get a message saying "The installer encountered an unexpected error installing this package. This may indicate a problem with this package. The error code is 2324."

    Hello,
    Certain Firefox problems can be solved by performing a ''Clean reinstall''. This means you remove Firefox program files and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps:
    '''Note:''' You might want to print these steps or view them in another browser.
    #Download the latest Desktop version of Firefox from http://www.mozilla.org and save the setup file to your computer.
    #After the download finishes, close all Firefox windows (click Exit from the Firefox or File menu).
    #Delete the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
    #*'''Windows:'''
    #**C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
    #**C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
    #*'''Mac:''' Delete Firefox from the Applications folder.
    #*'''Linux:''' If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it - see [[Installing Firefox on Linux]]. If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the [http://www.mozilla.org/firefox#desktop Firefox download page], simply remove the folder ''firefox'' in your home directory.
    #Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
    ##Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
    ##Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.
    More information about reinstalling Firefox can be found [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-and-diagnose-firefox-problems?esab=a&s=troubleshooting&r=3&as=s#w_5-reinstall-firefox here].
    <b>WARNING:</b> Do not run Firefox's uninstaller or use a third party remover as part of this process, because that could permanently delete your Firefox data, including but not limited to, extensions, cache, cookies, bookmarks, personal settings and saved passwords. <u>These cannot be recovered unless they have been backed up to an external device!</u>
    Please report back to see if this helped you!
    Thank you.

    I think that you may have hit on it. It looks like the DB was not upgraded.
    I just ran the patch set package p5337014_10203_WINNT. I assumed that it upgraded both the binaries and DB (if needed). In the alert file I had the following:
    ORA-39700: database must be opened with UPGRADE option
    Why it couldn't just show that on the screen is beyond me. :)
    I found the following steps and it seems to have worked. Thanks for your help!
    1. start a new sqlplus session
    2. fire the following command on sqlplus
    STARTUP UPGRADE
    3. The database now opens successfully after which catalog and cataproc
    sql's can be fired.
    4. Now shutdown and startup the database as the database was started
    with UPGRADE option.
    pupbld sql can be executed after step 4.

  • Why does system 10.8.5 not start after upgrading Maverick?

    After upgrading to Maverick on my OS 10.7.5 I-mac Intel machine the system just shows the apple icon and the wheel spins, for hours on end.
    I never used the time machine so there was no back up, I did spend the time to research it. I tried opening from a 10.6 install but the computer made a loud continuous and annoying beeping sound and still wound not go any further. I tried going on line with both Ethernet and wi/fi and though when I first connected with conformation before selecting which option in the recovery disk program, the response after selection the Internet options the error window stated I was not connected to the Internet.
    I do not want to completely erase and restart from scratch if at all possible.
    Currently I am using a Mac book pro to connect to this web site.

    You seem to have much more going on than first seemed ... and Windows is involved too.
    But please, start by answering the last paragraph of my earlier post.   This matter may be too complex for me but people with more experience (particularly with Windows) would need this information.   You spent time on your very interesting biography but omitted to fill out details of your devices and their systems.

    Hi buddy,
    I had a similar problem and I hit the BUG:8413088 (Metalink note 805536.1) after I had applied the patchset 10.2.0.4 in the environment.
    To correcting the problem I've only changed the script $ORA_CRS_HOME/bin/racgvip and changed the lines bellow
    from
    O1=`$NETSTAT -n -I $IF | $AWK "{ if (/^$_IF/) {print \\$5; exit}}"`
    O2=`$NETSTAT -n -I $IF | $AWK "{ if (/^$_IF/) {print \\$5; exit}}"`
    to
    O1=`$NETSTAT -n -I $IF | $AWK "{ if (/^$_IF/) {print \\$6; exit}}"`
    O2=`$NETSTAT -n -I $IF | $AWK "{ if (/^$_IF/) {print \\$6; exit}}"`
    If it works, You will confirmt that You are hitting thi bug and can apply the patch for BUG 8341679 ( I hadn't applied this patch, I only had changed the script at all).
    Hope it helps,

  • MSY does not start after upgrade from 50SP6 to SP11

    Hello experts again,
    after upgrading from 50sp6 to sp11 I cannot start MSY.
    I've implemented note 1099457 - AMT is starting now,
    but MSY still does not start.
    Has anybody some experience what this could be ?
    Thanks and best regards
    Gerd

    Hi,
    as I assume the AMT is installed completely new when doing a SP upgrade because it is a standard tool which you cannot enhance. Therefore it is running properly.
    Regarding MSY you need to perform a full generation within MAS (Visual Studio) after changing the generation settings to MSY (similar to MSA) because the runtime files like MSY.DLL need to be fitting to the new SP11 framework dlls.

  • Firefox 4 will not start after upgrade to OS X 10.6.7 (from 10.6.6)

    Was running FF 4.0RC1 successfully on OS X 10.6.6. Upgraded to 10.6.7 and FF would not start; had to force quit. Upgraded to FF 4.0RC2 and then 4.0; same thing is occurring. Reverted to FF 3.6 and it works fine under 10.6.7. Installed full upgrade of 10.6.7 to try to fix this; same problem: 4.0 will not start. Tried trashing Firefox application and restoring anew; same problem.

    Since your other Mac running 10.5.8 is not affected, you know that your AirPort router is functioning correctly.
    What changed on your Mac? This seems like a post for either the Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard support area, or the support area for your model of Mac.
    We normally handle questions about the AirPort Express, AirPort Extreme or Time Capsule in this area, but you can certainly wait to see if you receive a response here.

  • Screensaver does not start after upgrading to 10.7

    Since upgrading to 10.7 my screensaver does not start either by hot corner or automatically. I can get it to test from the preference pane, any suggestions?

    Okay.... Sorry for calling the technology airplay vice AirPrint.   I have done all the standard power reset and wireless tips (i.e.delete the wireless network, re-add the wireless network, even monitored the RF frequency spectrum to make sure nobody is stomping on my wireless signal, solid 32Mbits over a Cisco 1811w).  I have over 28 years in networking experience.  So, I assume you all the basic stuff has been covered.  Before our Apple devices got upgraded to IOS7 (2 IPads and 2 iPhones), we had no problems printing to our Brother HL-5450DN series printer (updated to the latest firmware).  I strongly believe it has something to do with the AirPrint discovery process as shared in my last post.  My next step is to enable port mirroring and monitor the packet exchange using wireshark or tcpdump.  This will probably have to wait until the weekend.

    You need to look at the log files in the \work directory for your instance. There will hopefully be a useful message in one of the server or dispatcher log or trace files. Report back any error messages, or you can try searching in SDN.

  • Safari does not start after upgrading to Snow Leopard

    Hi,
    I just updated my iMac to Snow Leopard. Everything works fine except for Safari.
    If I open Safari, it says: You cannot use this version of Safari with this version of Mac OS X. You have Safari 4.0.3 (translated from Dutch).
    In About my Mac I see that the version of OS X is 10.6.1.
    Software Update says my system is Up to date.
    So I downloaded Safari from the Apple site with Firefox and ran the install.
    The install of Safari says in the Select Target Volume screen: Safari cannot be installed on this Disk. For this update Mac OS X 10.5.8 of higher is needed (translated from Dutch). But I have 10.6.1! Does anyone have a clue how to resolve this without loosing all my settings?
    Thanks in advance!
    Daniel from Amsterdam

    Greetings,
    Don't waste your time downloading Safari from the Apple web site; it won't work, no matter what you do, since it's not for Snow Leopard.
    From what you describe, it sounds like you (or someone else) may have moved Safari from where it belongs, and therefore it wasn't updated when you installed Snow Leopard, which would cause the current version it sees to not run.
    Where, exactly is Safari located on your system? Safari must be at the top level of the /Applications folder; it cannot be anywhere else or it won't work properly when updating the OS.
