Evolution de version et organiseur

Bonjour,

• Modifying Object type

Hi
How do I modify object type without droping table containing that object?
Thanks a lot

You haven't given a great deal of information about which version of Oracle you're talking about.
However the simple answer is if it's not version 9i then you're going to have huge problems with object evolution, no version prior to 9i has allowed you to easily modify an object and maintain any data in associated object tables (there ARE horrendous workarounds but if you can move to 9i it WILL save you a tremendous amount of headaches/hacks).

• New itunes search function is terrible

The new itunes search function is really terrible, as a dj and listener with over 250GB of mp3s I find the new system to be extremely frustrating. I want to be able to type in a tag and sort my music hierarchically and I am no longer able to do this.
Sad.
Colin

If you want to go back to iTunes 10 I am happy to show you the way.
I am happy to regard myself an expert now on how to downgrade iTunes 11 back to 10. Having found a straight forward and logical way of doing so I thought it my duty to share with others. I can't express what a relief it is to have version 10 back again. See the method below. Let me know how you got on.
You can jump to the method below but I feel I need to express my view on the experience I have had of using iTunes 11.
I have been a mac obsessed devoted fan all my life (I'm 46), never used a PC and got my first mac back in 1988. Until just the past few months I wouldn't hear anyone say anything derogatory about anything apple. However a few things are rocking my 'religious like' devotion. Most of all I have been dumfunded about issues of the recent iTunes evolution in version 11.
I am also obsessed with music, movies and music videos. It's not just a hobby - I am a DJ and Video DJ by proffesion. iTunes, since the very first release, has been the backbone to the way I organise and store all my digital media. I never had any need to seek an alterantive and have also enjoyed the intergration it provides with my iPhone and other things etc etc.
My libary is huge. I don't mean to brag but aside from my digital music collection of 40,000 + tracks, either purchassed from the iTunes store or imported from my CD colection, my music video collection is over 10,000. I am a proffeciant iTunes user and I often have reason to need to retag my files within iTunes or sometimes I use MetaX.
Until now I have never resisted installing any available apple updates and even feel some excitement in anticipation of improved features etc. iTunes version 11 has changed all that now. It is, without question, an inferior version to 10. Anyone who feels otherwize is probaly only using itunes in a basic way and for this reason I have always thought there was a market for a pro version of iTunes for people like me.
iTunes 11 simply doesn't work. I click to play a track, click again cos it hasn't started and click another time and only then do I get to hear the track play for the start three times. It takes ages to build links to external files, just as long as it takes to actually import them to the media folder. Tagging takes rediculous long the point yu would need to leave the job to be done over night. I could go on but you are probably reading this because you have aleady experienced your own issues concerning version 11.
Befoe following the method below, I tried to seek alternatives to iTunes all together. I briefly tried Double Twist and Song Bird amougst many other but it truth iTunes is better for my personal purposes.
The most dispointing thing about version 11 is the silence from Apple about the obvious problems. It is this specific fact that has agrivated me so much. Maybe I am romanticising, bt I can't help imagine that SJ would have never let version 11 go as far as actually being released.
Here are the Stages and Steps: For OS X only. (have no idea for PC users). Thank you to Bogoss on MacForums, whoever you are.
Stage 1.
Note: Any changes you have made to your music files since you used last used version 10 will be lost but any purchasses you have made in the time since can be downloaded again if you can't find those purchasses in your media folder. If recently made playlists are of particular importance you could export the lists to somewhere for later.
1. Back up your iTunes Folder(s) just incase
2. Download these apps 1. AppZapper from http://appzapper.com (the free version will do). 2. Pacifist fromhttp://www.charlessoft.com.
3. Download iTunes 10.7 (last version before 11). Check your download folder, it might still be there. You can also get it from : http://appldnld.apple.com/iTunes10/0...iTunes10.7.dmg
4. Using AppZapper simply uninstall itunes 11. Before you drag the iTunes icon from the Application folder to the window you will need to open the preferences of AppZapper and deselect the tick next to "Keep Apple applications safe"
5. Open the 10.7 dmg file, you will see the pkg file(usally you would double click it to install), but now, this time drag it out somewhere, eg desktop.
6. Open Pacifist
7 drag the pkg iTunes 10.7 file to pacifist and then click install from the menu bar
8, during installation, click replace everytime a window pops up.
9. installation finished, iTunes 10.7 is back!
10. Don't open it yet!!!!
Stage 2.
See this video that explains the pocess here. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xXKZ2IBNsIA
1. In FINDER - go to your iTunes Folder in the iTunes Folder.
2. Within it, open the folder called Previous iTunes Libraries.
3. Identify the most recent backup. It has the date at the end.
4. Duplicate it. Move it to the desktop.
5. Rename it as iTunes Library.itl. Basically remove the date from the file name.
6. Go back to your iTunes Folder and rename the file there which is already named iTunes Library.itl to iTunes Library.itl.old.
7. Now move the iTunes Library.itl file from your desktop to this location.
8. Now open iTunes 10.7. If it can't find your iTunes library, select choose library and navigate the application to the new iTunes Library.itl file you created.
9. Breath sigh of relief, you're done!
10. Copy this and post it to help others. Only come back to me to say Thanks, not for more support.

I have got install the 7.0 SP9 evolution version . In the specification , it has given clearly that, TREX is not available. How can i install TREX in the portal system.
where is the Trex installable avilable ?
which version is suitable for the 7.0
What are the configuration steps ?

Hi Vijay,
you should use either TREX 7.0 or TREX 7.1 with the EP 7.0 . Please see the TREX installation Guide for detailed information how to install and configure the TREX for using with the Portal.

• Sync stopped across all my PCs after updating to FF 20.0 on a Linux PC (mix of FF versions). Logs indicate err 503, so coincidence; will this resolve itself?

I use Sync across a desktop PC and a laptop PC. The desktop runs Vista; the laptop dual-boots Linux and WinXP. Back in the day, I initiated Sync with the desktop, then paired both Firefox installations from each of the laptop's OSes. I sync all available objects. I haven't used Firefox on the laptop/WinXP since before the issue started, and I cannot recall what version I'm at there. I have not attempted to run Firefox from the laptop/WinXP side since the issue started.
My experience has been unremarkable (good) until just a couple of days ago. On the desktop I was already at Firefox ver. 20, while on the laptop's Linux OS, I had been at FF 19.
On the laptop/Linux, I had these recent experiences just before the trouble started:
1) Operating under FF 19, Sync appeared normal. Autoupdate to ver. 20 offered but would never connect and start when selected. Abort and re-check Help->About presented a manual download link for ver. 20 instead.
2) Updated via manual download/install of ver. 20 via suggested link. No issues noticed; Sync appeared normal.
3) Unrelated activities caused me to boot Linux under a root filesystem (including /home) version from the day before I installed ver. 20, and I needed and did run FF ver. 19 again while on this filesystem. Sync _may_ have run and if so, I do not know if it was okay with going "back in time" this way. I was not paying close attention to it at the time, except to say I didn't notice anything unusual about my browsing experience.
4) With the unrelated activities handled, I resumed booting from my normal and current root filesystem, containing FF ver. 20 and my /home and profile from after the upgrade. Again, I did not notice anything obviously wrong.
Later, on the desktop system, the next sync caused all the graphics in my selected personas skin to vanish, leaving just the underlying color style. No other stored personas worked. All sync'ed items appeared to be untouched, but the problem with the personas skins alerted me to somthing being wrong. Attempts to re-sync failed.
Still later, back on the laptop/Linux, the next sync produced the same effect with the personas skins. They remain listed by name, but their source graphics (including addons list icons and text descriptions) have vanished. No other issues are apparent, and no addons or settings, etc. appear to be missing.
Re-sync attempts from either system now fail, but after retrying, indicate the problem is with the server being unavailable due to maintenance...suggesting the Sync service is having an issue, and when it comes back, this will resolve itself. Is that the case, making this just a big coincidence, or is there more going on?
I can provide the saved log files from either the desktop FF ver. 20, or the laptop/Linux FF ver. 20. I cannot provide any logs from the backup root filesystem that contained laptop/Linux FF ver. 19, as that snapshot is now gone. Also, I've not run FF (ver. ?) from the laptop/WinXP side so far during this evolution...but I could provide data and logs from there if it would help.
An excerpt from the most recent sync attempt from my desktop system appears below to illustrate the error:

UPDATE 04260817z -- Suggestions?
The latest Sync log for my desktop system indicates sync completed this time, but there appear to be problems with the personas skins addons. From what I can gather trying my best to interpret the log, something might have happened with one of my paired instances of FF when it transmitted or updated the list of these addons. This log indicates it cannot sync the personas skins because they're not available from the sync store (and they've been partially wiped out from my FF instances). So I guess my desktop's FF knows it has had a given personas skin installed, and when trying to reactivate it, discovers the data is missing, and tries to fetch it from Sync, but sync doesn't have it...stuck.
Have a look at this log, confim my interpretation, and please offer suggestions for how to try to proceed without breaking anything else. Thanks!!

• OS9 version of Outlook Express to Leopard version of Mail

Hello,
I have to help a friend migrate from an early 2000 iMac running OS9 to a current new iMac running Leopard (still to be purchased).
According to MacTracker her old iMac does have Fire Wire so I imagine I should be able to hook up the two computers somehow (in Target mode?) and move data files across.
But how about her email? She's currently using Outlook Express, which I've never used and am totally unfamiliar with. Is there some way to export her email from OE in a format that can be imported into the current version of Mail that will come with her new Mac?
thanks,
ncm

I tried installing Thunderbird (and also Netscape 7) on her new iMac while the old iMac's hd was on the new one's desktop (courtesy FireWire Target mode), but neither of them exhibited an option to import from OS9x version of Outlook Express - only Eudora and some other obscure format were selectable from the "import from other email programs" section. I also tried exporting from Outlook Express as text deliniated format (or whatever that's called) but nothing of use was subsequently imported into Apple's Mail client..which seems to hang while trying to import. She's now on 10.5.4 on the new iMac.
Any further suggestions will be greatly appreciated. There must be some way of getting her work email from Outlook Express for OS9 and into Mail for OSX 10.5.4.
Does anybody know if there is a trial version of Entourage? Isn't that Microsoft's evolution of Outlook Express? Would that be able to import email from OE to Entourage and then possibly export that to Mail?

• Upgrader to Version 1.0.2

Hello. I am upgrade my program to java version 1.0.2 but am finding still the error of date only working with 1970 between 2037. Other date not work???

Using windows 95 already,
I would have guessed you still worked in DOS.
I don't agree that small changes minimize the risks.
Work with some kind of source-versioning system.
Or work at least with a normal backup.
This way you can more easily and while minimizing the
risk, port the existing code to an upgraded java-version.
What are the risks? A few working days filled with coding, in the
unlikely event of an impossible upgrade.
Think about what the risks are when not upgrading to the latest version.
1 - You fall behind in technology.
2 - You become finally incompatible with the newest java version
(which generally should take at least 1 major java version upgrade)
3 - In the long run, the hardware and OS you are running on are the only ones
supporting the java version you use. And consequently they are also the only ones still
running your application.
4 - a lot of the necessary bug- and security-fixes introduced during the evolution of
java are not incorporated in your code. And they will not be for a long time.
5 - a lot of extended functionality from the newest version of Java cannot be used in
conjunction of your application and thus your programmers reinvent the wheel every single day.
And guess what happens when a part of your system crashes...
Will you still be able to find all the parts you need for the application to run?
In the worst case you risk to have to rewrite the complete application in another version of java
without having a working (old) backup to rely on for testing, performance,...
Either way you risk to fall behind, and to have to invest much more time to get back on track (upgrading from 1.0.2 to 1.5)
This reflects my thoughts about the risk in upgrading.
(I know there are risks in upgrading to soon, or in adapting some new technology to soon,
but that is not the case here, since version 1.4 is settled technology by now)
kind regards,

• How can I restore the previous ios version on my IPad?

In the previous version of the os, I frequently used the tool "maps".
It was very helpfull to find b&b around a place.
Now the new tool is **** !
No more metadata...
So I lost the major interest of my IPad when I go abroad...
I'm so surprised to see the evolution! What a progress... 3D indeed but a major regression in the usability !
So how can I roll back to the previous IOS ?
Quickly help needed please...
Thanks

dear Tom,
since last US election 'YES WE CAN'
I found a tuto on the web hopefully...
unfortunately the only way to keep a real map tool and not a garbage one

Thanks.

Hi,
When you use INPLACE_TRACE flag, it traces the operations that would be performed with option 1.
If you look at the trace file produced in this case, you'll see where the error is coming from :
------------ QMTS Executing SQL ------------
ALTER TYPE "TEST"."EVLN_CLIENTRISKEVENTHEADER_T" ADD ATTRIBUTE "FORENAME" VARCHAR2 CASCADE NOT INCLUDING TABLE DATA
/The mandatory length specification is absent.
I thought adding an explicit xs:maxLength restriction would solve the problem, but it happens the generated DDL still lacks the length specification.
After some tries, I found that the issue seems related to the usage of ref elements in the schema.
On a side note, it's not the first time we see problems associated with ref (Cf. how do i get xml db to work right with imported or included schemas?).
The workaround is to use a named type.
I've also added an xdb:defaultTable annotation to the top-level element ("title") so that the registration process doesn't generate a table for it :
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<xs:schema xmlns:xs="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns:xdb="http://xmlns.oracle.com/xdb" xdb:storeVarrayAsTable="true">
<xs:element name="title" xdb:defaultTable="">
<xs:simpleType>
<xs:restriction base="xs:string">
<xs:maxLength value="200"/>
</xs:restriction>
</xs:simpleType>
</xs:element>
<xs:simpleType name="forenameType">
<xs:restriction base="xs:string">
<xs:maxLength value="30"/>
</xs:restriction>
</xs:simpleType>
<xs:element name="clientRiskEventHeader" xdb:defaultTable="EVLN_CLIENTRISKEVENTHEADER">
<xs:complexType xdb:SQLType="EVLN_CLIENTRISKEVENTHEADER_T">
<xs:sequence>
<xs:element ref="title" xdb:SQLName="TITLE"/>
<xs:element name="forename" type="forenameType" minOccurs="0" xdb:SQLName="FORENAME"/>
</xs:sequence>

• How do I open movies made with older versions of iMovie?

I have newer iMac with iMovie 10.0.02 and would like to open movies created with an older version of iMovie. I was informed by the people at the Apple Store this could be done. Does anyone know how? In the end I would like to create high def copies that can be viewed on a Mac laptop.

Hi
I was informed by the people at the Apple Store this could be done.
That depends up-on from what old iMovie version.
- iMovie 1 to HD6 - is one program and it's evolution - Will Not be possibly to open with any other program.
- iMovie'08 v.7 to iMovie'13 v.10.0.x - is a compleatly other product (wrongly named as iMovie in my opinion) - can open older files from this evolution. (Not from iM 1 - 6)
So it depends greatly from what version that You mean.
Please tell.
Yours Bengt W

• Evolution opens link in current window not in window Firefox is running in

Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS, Gnome 3.12.2 due to lockups of system I removed the Ubuntu version of Firefox and installed 33.1.1 from the Mozilla site. Since then whenever I click on a link in a message Firefox will open in the same window Evolution is in not in the window Firefox is currently running in. Not only that but it will open to my homepage not to the link that has been clicked on.

Try redoing your link and, this time, deselect the link on the page and look at the inspector window to see if anything has changed. Then check the 'make hyperlinks active box". Your linked page should open in the browser when you click the link on the iWeb page.
If this is OK do a "publish all to .Mac" and empty your browser cache before visiting your site.

• Why is the French Siri version so unaccomplished....?

and moreover, when I call the customer's service for some news or information that we as clients are entitled to have, the salesman barely understands french,obviously has no Apple culture, ( has propably never manipulated any Apple product in his life...) and the only thing he could reply when I asked him,
"Is the French Beta Siri version going to evolve soon" : he repeated : "Siri is a great product...." twice, then hung up.
This is totally unacceptable, and very sad.
I know that this situation wouldn't occur in the US, so why is it happening in France ?
I think that for the reputation of Apple, some choices should be done : quality .... to maintain the standards..... come on .... you're not an ordinary brand,,,
you're not samsung... wake up.
I'm looking forward for a precise answer on the evolution of the french Siri version that for the moment doesn't understand anything .
And as I am half british half french, I have tested the GB and US versions......

• HOWTO: Install and use opensync-0.22 to sync Evolution to Nokia phone

Opensync-0.3x is unstable and fraught with danger, the only relatively-safe version is opensync-0.22. Installing opensync-0.22 is quite a task in x86-64 (i686 users might be able to use the unofficial kpiche repository on this page http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Uno … ositories).
Here's how I got it to work in arch x86-64 to sync my Nokia 6300 phone over bluetooth (obex) with Evolution contacts and calendars. The first few steps should be fairly straightforward for most arch users.
1. Install evolution from repo via pacman if you haven't already:
pacman -S evolution evolution-data-server evolution-exchange
At the time of writing these are at version 2.28.11.
2. Load evolution and configure your default settings, you don't need to configure mail if you don't want to. Load some test calendar and contact data if you really want to.
3. Install and configure your bluetooth adapter and pair your phone as per http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Bluetooth. Install openobex from repo via pacman, at the time of writing it is version 1.5-1.
From here things get a lot more difficult and a lot less arch-y. Opensync appears to be a huge state of wonk right now, and thus libopensync in the AUR is a huge mess (from http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=45683) and there doesn't appear to be a working 0.22 suite in the repo or aur. This issue is further complicated by not being able to mix and match opensync libs and plugin versions. Nevermind!
4. Get the dependency library tarballs from opensync.org:
libwbxml: 0.10.7 compiled for me in x64; from here https://libwbxml.opensync.org/wiki/Rele … xml-0.10.7
libsyncml: 0.4.6 is the only version that contains the openobex headers needed to make libopensync-plugin-syncml-0.22 compile; get it from here https://libsyncml.opensync.org/wiki/lib … .4.6-notes. Any later version of libsyncml doesn't appear to have these files (ref: http://bugs.gentoo.org/269187) and makes libopensync-plugin-syncml-0.22 fail at compilation, throwing these errors:
syncml_plugin.h:38:35: error: libsyncml/obex_client.h: No such file or directory
syncml_plugin.h:39:35: error: libsyncml/http_server.h: No such file or directory
5. Get the opensync-0.22 tarballs from http://www.opensync.org/download/releases/0.22/, at minimum you need the following:
libopensync-0.22
libopensync-plugin-evolution2-0.22
libopensync-plugin-syncml-0.22
msynctool-0.22
You can try other plugins if you want to, ymmv.
6. Build and install the depedencies using cmake as per the instructions in their INSTALL files; Build and install libopensync, msynctool and plugin-evolution, these shouldn't have any problems. libopensync-plugin-syncml won't build with default options because it won't be able to locate libsoup while configuring; add flag --disable-http to get around this. (if you need http I have no idea how to fix this). libopensync-plugin-syncml will also throw a compilation warning and refuse to compile:
% ./configure --prefix=/usr --disable-http
% make
cc1: warnings being treated as errors
syncml_plugin.c: In function '_manager_event':
syncml_plugin.c:297: error: 'smlSessionSetReceivingLimit' is deprecated (declared at /usr/include/libsyncml-1.0/libsyncml/sml_session.h:91)
The new libsyncml library (relative to the 0.22 plugin anyway) declares this, so a quick manual patch is to comment out lines 296 and 297 in the source code in syncml_plugin:
295 /*
296 if (env->recvLimit)
297 smlSessionSetReceivingLimit(session, env->recvLimit);
298 */
Save the file, you should now be ready to run make and make install.
7. If all went well, you should now be able to see both plugins loaded in msynctool:
% msynctool --listplugins
Available plugins:
syncml-obex-client
evo2-sync
I configured my phone and evolution in msynctool exactly as per this thread http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=705103; copied here for brevity:
1. Let's go commando with OpenSync. First we create a group to refer to our sync session with. I've called mine "evolution-n95", but you can call it whatever you want. We then create the config for the Evolution side as the first member of this group.
$ msynctool --addgroup evolution-n95
$ msynctool --addmember evolution-n95 evo2-sync
$ msynctool --configure evolution-n95 1
2. Your text editor will pop up editing member 1 of your evolution-n95 group. Edit the config to look like this:
<config>
<address_path>default</address_path>
<calendar_path>default</calendar_path>
<tasks_path>default</tasks_path>
</config>
3. Now do to the N95 side, adding its config as the second member of the group:
$ msynctool --addmember evolution-n95 syncml-obex-client
$ msynctool --configure evolution-n95 2
4. Your text editor will pop up editing member 2 of your evolution-n95 group. Edit the config to look like this (remember to put your N95's MAC address and Channel number in):
<config>
<bluetooth_address>00:AA:11:BB:22:CC</bluetooth_address>
<bluetooth_channel>10</bluetooth_channel>
<interface>0</interface>
<identifier>PC Suite</identifier>
<version>1</version>
<wbxml>1</wbxml>
<username></username>
<password></password>
<type>2</type>
<usestringtable>1</usestringtable>
<onlyreplace>0</onlyreplace>
<recvLimit>0</recvLimit>
<maxObjSize>0</maxObjSize>
<contact_db>Contacts</contact_db>
<calendar_db>Calendar</calendar_db>
<note_db></note_db>
</config>
5. Now you're ready to rock and/or roll. Let's try syncing:
$ msynctool --sync evolution-n95
...and you should get a whole stream of mumbo-jumbo similar to the following:
$ msynctool --sync evolution-n95

Depending on your data to sync, you may see a LOT of info. This may be done quickly or take a minute or two. In any case, you should see "The sync was successful" at the end amd be returned to the prompt.
6. Pat yourself on the back - you're done. Sync again with the same command as much as you want.
ps. ignore the README in libopensync-plugin-evolution2-0.22

Shameless bump. Does anyone know if an iPhone running OS 3.0 can sync properly with iTunes version 8.0.2.20?
