EW Play only running in 32-bit

Hi there,
I just installed Logic Pro 9 (upgrading from Logic Pro 8) and am having trouble with my East West plugins. I understand that Play is now 64-bit capable but the plugin (and all of my other third-party plugins) only shows up under the 32-bit instruments menu. I have tried starting the program in 32 bit mode to 'validate' the plugins and then starting up in 64bit again but to no avail. I have tried removing the 'play.component' file from the library and reinstalling it from the latest update. I have tried switching everything on and off again! My computer is definitely 64-bit compatible.
I'd appreciate any advice on how to get Logic using its full 64 bit capabilities with Play.

The 64 bit version of PLAY is in beta. It should be out soon but the version currently available is 32 bit. Keep an eye on their website for the update.

Running Firefox 4.0 on Mac OSX 10.6.6, using ATT mail, when I create a new email I get a browser message saying, "This page requires a plugin that can only run in 32-bit mode," and I have to restart Firefox in 32-bit mode. Is there any way around this?

I am assuming the plugin that the Firefox message is referring to is for attaching a file to the email. I say this because at the bottom of a new email it has a link that says "Attach files more easily" which, when you click it, takes you to a setup process where you download an att updater. I ran that and it did seem to change anything. I am wondering if there is anything I can do to make Firefox handle this page without having to restart in 32-bit mode every time.

I keep getting a banner at the top of my email page, ATT/Yahoo, that says "This page requires a plug-in that can only run in 32-bit mode. Then there is a place to click "Restart in 32-bit mode" restarting doesn't help. I have a Mac, OS 10.6.7.

That means that you need to run Firefox in 32 bit mode if you want to use that plugin.

On some pages I get an error in yellow at the top "This page requires a plugin that can only run in 32-bit mode" with an option to restart; how do I find which plugin this applies to and/or disable this message for the given plugin?

I don't want to restart in 32-bit mode unless absolutely required, and even if I need to I want to track down and replace the involved plugin with a 64-bit version if I can. There should be a 'more information' or similar button instead of just 'Restart in 32-bit mode' being the only prominent option.

Look to see if you have an app called Browser Plus from Yahoo. I uninstalled it because it said it isn't compatible with Firefox 4 & up. Thus far that error hasn't returned.

Possible to run a 32 bit program in 64 bit Windows 7 Pro?

I've ordered a Thinkpad X220 which here in UK only comes with 64 bit version of windows 7 pro. Problem is that there a couple of programs which i use which only run in 32 bit windows (no 64 bit version available) and they run fine in my existing Win 7 32 bit version...i've tried them on a friend's pc running 64 bit Win 7 Ultimate and they do not work. Is there any way to make these programs work in Win 7 Pro 64 bit on my soon-to-arrive X220? If i downloaded and installed 'Windows XP Mode with Virtual PC" on my X220, would this help in making the 32 bit programs work on my 64 bit Win 7?

Windows 7 64 bit is able to run 32 bit programs. However, some programs will have issues.
Have you checked your programs against the Windows 7 compatibility list: http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=2394
This should tell you if they are compatible or not with Windows 7 64-bit.
There are compatibility settings that you can try once you have installed the software also. Right click on the shortcut and choose properties, then go to the compatibility tab and try the various OS settings.
If those things fail, then you should try Windows XP Mode (convenience link: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/download.aspx). This will allow you to install your programs in a virtual copy of Windows XP SP3 using Windows Virtual PC. Once XP Mode is installed, when you install your software into it, you will get a shortcut to use the program from your Windows 7 start menu without even seeing the XP Mode window.

Late 2007 Macbook (Black) not running in 64-bit

Hey everyone, (i hope this question/post belongs here) I was wondering why am i unable to run in 64-bit, i checked about this mac and went to the software and it says No for 64-bit. Would you say that my blackbook is old? I thought once you were able to install snow leopard you would automatically get 64-bit. I see firefox uses a lot more ram that it would normally do it leopard so i assumed it was 64-bit before i finally realized that i was only running in 32-bit . What is the deal?

First: with very few exceptions the Kernel runs in 32 bit mode. It won't matter unless you have over 4GB of RAM in your BlackBook (which the machine doesn't support anyway).
Most of the apps are running in 64 bit, but FireFox is a 32 bit app. It doesn't matter what kernel is running.
Don't worry about the 32 bit Kernel, it won't have any effect on your laptops performance. Look for other threads where there is tons more information about this.

Will Photoshop CS5 run in 32-bit mode in OS x 10.8

I have a Photoshop plugin that only runs in 32-bit mode. So when I upgraded to CS6 I've kept CS5 and launch it in 32-bit mode when I want to use the plugin. Will I be able to do this when OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion is released?

At a minimum, you'll want to at least ask in the Photoshop forum. This forum is for Adobe Contribute which is unrelated to your post. Good luck.

How to verify that Firefox 4.0 is running in 32 bit mode on a mac

WebEx will only work in 32 bit mode, so I have to make sure Firefox 4.0 is ONLY running this way on macintosh computers. How do I check if this is how it is running, and how to insure it only runs in 32 bit?

The cheek of the matter is everytime I tried to get Apple support it comes up with a request for me to pay $54 for their support package, to fix a problem I didn't have until I complied to one of their update requests.

Well, I wonder about all the responses...:)
Anyhow, I wound up "fixing" the problem by using the System Restore disks for the Mini. It's now running Tiger 10.4.11 (with all updates) and I copied my iTunes library over. It all works now. <shrug> I have no idea what the problem was, and I'm a bit leery of upgrading it to Leopard, so I think I'll just leave well enough alone.

HT1768 Song Preview in iTunes Store plays only 9 seconds

I run vista 64 bit. Lately when I preview a song in the itunes store only 9 seconds (exactly) of the preview will play. Also, when I purchase music, I am getting download errors. This has only been an issue for a few weeks. I am hoping to fix the without the hassle of completely uninstalling & reinstalling iTunes and risk loosing my iPhone data, song data etc.

My Itunes previews have been playing fully now for the past few days. After trying every suggestion possible to fix the problem of 5-10 second previews, I took the advice on one feed to use OpenDNS for your network internet connection. There are internet sites that will instruct you how to do it. Just Google "opendns for (your operating system)". I have Windows XP and followed a video instruction at www.top-windows-tutorals.com/using-opendns.html. Afterward, close your browser and then flush the DNS Resolver cache; Start/Run, type CMD in the open field, click OK, in resulting window type ipconfig/flushdns, press return on keyboard. No guarantees, but my browser is faster and my Itunes previews are playing fully so far. But I still shudder every time I hit the preview button.

A program I use: Easyeclipse seems to only support 32 bit. Since I have a 64 bit system, I can't run it. Is there any way I can run a 32 bit executable on a 64 bit system?
