EWS Coexistence Issue

We recently went into co-existence mode and all seems well except for EWS.  I am seeing some 200 responses in IIS logs for EWS requests but also Im seeing many more 500 responses.   Our cisco unity connection application, which relies solely on
EWS now throws an error when it tries to access a mailbox on Exchange 2k7 when the request is proxied from  2K13 environment.  It uses an account that has impersonation rights to all mailboxes in both environements.  Any mailbox on 2k13 there
is no issue.  These are the errors:
ErrorNoRespondingCASInDestinationSite
Exchange Web Services are not currently available for this request because none of the Client Access Servers in the destination site could process the request.
I've gone over all settings with a fine tooth comb and everythings seems to be in place per MS guidelines.  2k7 internal and external URLs are set to legacy.domain.com.  Any help is greatly appreciate.
Rich

Hi,
Glad that you have fixed the issue, and thank you for sharing the resolution.
If you have any question, please feel free to let me know.

  • Exchange 2010 - 2013 Coexistence Issues

I am migrating from Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2013, the Exchange 2013 is built in a different Geo-location site with its dedicated domain controllers in the new site. I have confirmed the mail flow between Exchange 2010 and 2013 mailboxes. I am able to discover
Exchange 2010 servers from 2013 environment via Get-ExchangeServer shell command. However, I am not to discover Exchange 2013 servers from 2010 environment.
I need to configure Outlook Anywhere and Service Connection Point (Autodiscover) on Exchange 2010 to accept connections from Exchange 2013 servers.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated, thanks!

    Hi ,
Please have a look in to the below mentioned blog after reading that blog i came to know few things .
I am not sure ,i thought exchange 2013 servers will not be displayed in exchange 2010 management shell.
Better and advisable method is to configure your exchange 2010 and 2013 servers via EAC or Shell in exchange 2013.
    http://exchangeserverpro.com/exchange-server-2010-2013-migration-managing-co-existence-environment/
Taken from the above blog :
You can’t use the Exchange 2010 EMC to manage Exchange 2013 objects and servers. While customers upgrade to Exchange 2013, we encourage them to use the EAC to:
Manage Exchange 2013 mailboxes, servers, and corresponding services.
View and update Exchange 2010 mailboxes and properties.
View and update Exchange 2007 mailboxes and properties.
We encourage customers to use Exchange 2010 EMC to create Exchange 2010 mailboxes.
We encourage customers to use Exchange 2007 EMC to create Exchange 2007 mailboxes.
Customers can continue to perform management tasks using the Exchange Management Shell and script tasks.

  • Multiple JRE Installations and Coexistence

    Hi Guys
Could any of you please help at all.
I am looking to find out is anyone has experienced or knows of any coexistence issues relating to Sun JRE installations.
We have the following JRE versions deployed on our estate:
    1.4.2_04, 1.4.2_05 and 1.30_02
    These are existing application dependencies.
We are looking to also deploy version 1.5.0_05 for a new application so this could potentially be installed on a machine with any of the above versions already installed.
If anyone has experienced any coexistence issues with any of the above, I would be very grateful of your help.
    Many thanks all

6u10 offers a solution to this problem. The rewritten plugin in 6u10 allows the plugin to call the JRE version specified by the applet. The html source calling the applet must specify the version, which you may need to add if it is not already there.

  • Lync2013 EWS URLs for Exchange 2007/2010 Coexistence

    Hi
Last weekend we deployed and activated our new Exchange 2010 CAS. The 'old' Exchange 2007 CAS is still there, using the legacy URL method, since mailboxes are mostly still located on 2007 Mailbox servers.
In other words, clients connect to the Exchange web-services on the 2010 CAS, and depending on where their mailbox is located (2007 or 2010 Mailbox-server) they either stay with the 2010 CAS or get re-directed to the 2007 CAS (legacy.company.com)
Internal and External URL's are the same, for both the primary and the legacy URL's. All is well, no issues with Outlook clients or OWA, EWS, Activesync.
    Enter Lync 2013.
Since the change this weekend, we're getting Outlook/Exchange Integration errors. Checking the Lync Configuration Information (CTRL-Click system tray icon), I can see the EWS Internal/External URL's being used by the client. These URL's point to the 2010 CAS.
    So why the error ?
Does the 2010 CAS re-direct Lync clients to the legacy URL, just like it does with OWA/Outlook clients ?
Does it even have to, to supply EWS data for mailboxes on 2007 servers ?
Can I change the EWS URL's, and have them point to the legacy URL, but only for Lync clients ? (and change it back later)
Already checked a mailbox on Exchange 2010, it's Lync user does not get the integration error. So the problem is definitely related to mailboxes on 2007, that need the old CAS server during coexistence. Also, before the CAS 2007 server worked fine, providing
    EWS to Lync clients.
Eventually, the plan is to move the mailboxes from 2007 to 2010, but this error puts pressure on that plan. It will take at least 2 or 3 weeks, during which time clients continue to get the error until they are moved.
    I'm kinda stuck here.

Lync uses DNS to find autodiscover to obtain EWS URL.
Which server did the DNS record Autodiscover point to?
You can run the command Get-AutodiscoverVirtualDirectory to get the EWS internal URL and external URL on the server the Autodiscover pointing to.
2010 CAS can’t redirect Lync client to the legacy URL.

  • Issue with new EWS Java 1.2 license and ambiguity

If this isn't the proper place for this thread, then please let me know where it should go.
I noticed that EWS Java 1.2 has been marked with an Apache 2.0 license. Let me just say this...
    FINALLY!
If ever there was a project that needed it, it's EWS Java. That API has seemingly turned into abandonware and the old license forbade redistribution of modified source, so the many bugs in it had to be independently fixed by devs around the world. Not fun.
With a proper open source license, this problem can be alleviated.
    HOWEVER...
After downloading the zip file from the new EWS Java page, I've found that while the Apache 2.0 license is present in the root directory, the earlier and more restrictive license is still present in the project directory. This introduces ambiguity into the
license terms. Not good. I would not be comfortable redistributing modified (or even original) source code with this kind of ambiguity, even if it's just an oversight on Microsoft's part. Please remove the old license entirely from the API.
Also, if possible, can this get an official repository? The new license is great, but with only a zip file as an "official" source, it's begging for fragmentation across who-knows-how-many repositories and accounts, especially since it's not even
    a proper Maven project.
I'd love to do some work on EWS Java myself (I've already fixed a number of bugs), but with the license issues and lack of an official repository, that doesn't seem terribly feasible.

I'm not sure if you're going to be able to reliably find an actual fulltime MSFT person (especially targeted towards a specific product group) in any of these forums. You might try posting a comment on this blog post though, that might help get someone's

  • MAJOR EWS ACCESS FIRMWARE ISSUE IN "MADE IN THAILAND" HP 7520 PRINTERS

MAJOR EWS ACCESS FIRMWARE ISSUE IN "MADE IN THAILAND" HP 7520 PRINTERS
I've borrowed 2 "Made in China" HP Photosmart 7520's. Both have a fully working EWS. (Serial Numbers begins with CN)
I've purchased 2 "Made in Thailand" HP Photosmart 7520's. EWS does NOT respond in either one. (Serial Number begins with TH)
This same finding is reported by numerous other users.
The bad news is that I cannot locate "Made in China" 7520's in any of the large electronics stores to purchase.  Apparently HP has shifted their 7520 production to Thailand and in doing so has introduced a very significant bug that results in an ability to access EWS in the Thailand 7520's.
HP- Are you working to remedy the firmware bug in the "Made in Thailand" 7520's that results in a total inability to access EWS? (I'm not interested in a work-around solution.  I want to be able to directly access EWS as per the specs and software)

  • Exchange Server 2003/2010 Coexistence Mail-flow Issues

    I've installed Exchange 2010 in a 2003 coexistence scenario.
2010 was deployed with CAS,HUB, and Mailbox roles.
The installation went through smoothly, and the default RGC was created.
On the 2010 Server, when I create a new users with mailbox, that user is no able to send or receive mail from anywhere.
2010 user to 2010 user does not work
2003 user to 2010 user does not work
Mail delivery between 2003 users works fine.
The RGC message queue in ESM 2003 shows that the messages are queued and keep retrying.
I have deleted the RGC twice and created new ones, I have un-installed the HUB and CAS roles and re-installed them, and I have also re-run setup /preparead and setup /preparelegacyexchangepermissions
I'm not able to make any sense of the message tracking on the 2010 side. It just shows a bunch of entries:
    EventID: NOTIFYMAPI
    Source: STOREDRIV
When I use the best practices analyzer to test mailflow to a 2010 user from the outside, the test comes back with a pass even though the message itself isn't delivered to the specified mailbox.
There is no smart host defined on the default SMTP virtual server on 2003.
There is no SMTP Send Connector for External or Internal mail configured on 2003 besides the 2010 RGC
    Any ideas?

No duplicate security groups. I did notice Exchange 2010 is not in the Exchange Domain Servers group, but 2k3 is. Not sure if that matters.

As long as you cannot send email between ex2010 users this has nothing to do with connectors/smtp config..
I had the same issue one year ago and solved adding both sevrers to old/new exchange sevrers security groups.
Looks like for some missing security entry (not sure why) mailbox is unable to conact HUB  (MSExchangeMailSubmission) I expect you seing items stuck in draft for owa (outbok for outlook)
I saw in some blogs similar cases solved by setting static DNS servers for HUB severs config.
Yes that is similar to what I'm experiencing.
When using the Outlook client with a 2010 mailbox the mail leaves the outbox fine. When using OWA new messages just get saved as drafts when I try to send them.
I will try your suggestions. I see two groups. Exchange Domain Servers, and Exchange Enterprise Servers of which Exchange Domain Servers is a member.

  • Variable scope issue - EWS

    Hi everyone,
So I have a funny issue. From line 8 to line 37 I declare a set of variables, most of them with null values. Then I call a function: SetupEWSAndFolder (line 88) which sets a lot of these variables. Once the function exits, the variables are empty.
How come ? I thought that variables defined at script level would be updated in child functions ? Is it because of the null value ? I have another script with the same kind of setup but the variables are not set to null and it works perfectly fine.
And for the fun, i tested echoing the value at the end of the function of some variables and then outside and the one outside are not updated
I also tested using: $global:mb for instance, I still have the initial value set in the script and not the one updated in the function
Thanks for helping me clear up my misunderstanding of the issue
    Olivier

When you read the about_scope you see:
            - An item you include in a scope is visible in the scope in which it
was created and in any child scope, unless you explicitly make it
private. You can place variables, aliases, functions, or Windows
PowerShell drives in one or more scopes.
To me, it means that if you define a variable at the script level, it is going to be availble at the function level. To me, the function scope level is a child of the script scope level.
So I did a check and it works like you say. But it is annoying, look at the following script and result:
    #This is a scope test:
    $nbErrors = "script";
    Function DoErrorTest(){
    $nbErrors
    $nbErrors = "inside"
    $nbErrors
    DoErrorTest
    $nbErrors
    Result:
    script
    inside
    script
Which logical and totally annoying at the same time. And, to me, it means that you can never assign a value in a child scope by using the name of the variable. But you can display the value of the parent scope variable as long as you don't give a value to
a same name variable in a child scope....
    This is gonna be annoying...
    Thanks

  • Exchange 2013 Sp1 Test-PopConnectivity issues in coexistence

I'm having issues with Pop3 in a coexistence environment with 2007. The 2013 roles are split- cas servers and mailbox servers.
    If I run "Test-PopConnectivity -ClientAccessServer:cas01 -MailboxCredential:(Get-Credential domain\test.exchange) |fl"
I get the error "Service MSExchangePOP3 was not found on <mailboxserver>" and a DR Watson is created.
Ok I know there is a front end and a back end component to Pop3. This error is expecting to find the front end component on a mailbox server? So is it just an issue because the roles are split or is it to do with proxying through the CAS not being enabled?
Pop3 does not use a send connector- just a receive connector right? So how would it Proxy- if it does
    Confused
    Tony

    Hi,
Is “cas01” the front end server?
Did you use the exchange 2013 MailboxCredential to test the Pop Connectivity?
Make sure the pop is enalbed for users and the pop services are started.

  • EWS pull subscription issue with long gap ( every week)

    Hi,
I am facing an issue with EWS pull subscription when I have try to call GetEvents after a one week of time, Getevents returns no mails in the first call even after try the multiple time only I can get all the mails in that week.
    Thanks,
    Chris

If you check the Server response are you getting an error or warning in the response ? How many Items are in the folder ? The maximum timeout for Pull subscription is 1440 minutes so if you not updating it in that timeframe and resubscripting with
the older watermark your going to force the server to do a liner scan of the folder see the recovering from lost subscriptions in http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/office/dn458788(v=exchg.150).aspx .
The more items in the folder the worse the cost of this would be.
    Cheers
    Glen

  • Exchange 2013 CU5 fresh install suffering issues with services not starting and coexistence with 2007

    Hi everyone,
Hope you can help me out on a couple of issues I've been experiencing during the initial stages of a project to upgrade an on premise Exchange 2007 to 2013.
On Monday last week I installed the first Exchange 2013 server into the network after a few weeks of careful planning, information gathering and remediation of our current Exchange 2007 environment and associated systems.
The server itself has been having some issues from the word go, some of which I've resolved but none that are show stoppers but I want to get them resolved before building more servers and setting up the planned 2 x 2 node DAG's
The main problems are as follows:
There's usually one service that does not start following an OS restart and it's not always the same service. So far I've seen the following not start: DAG Management, Migration Workflow, Anti-spam Update, Unified Messaging, UM Call Router, Transport
    Service.
The critical system event log entries are complaining of timeouts when the services are starting up but I can't imagine that the servers boot time is too long...  It's a 2 vCPU/12Gb vRAM VM, Windows 2012 R2
I receive an error in the Event Log regarding RPC over HTTP Proxy
to one of the 2007 CAS servers (not our primary one). The first error was because the Windows Component was missing but since installing it, disabling Outlook Anywhere, reenabling it, restarting the server, I now have a new error which is shown further down
    this post
The Exchange 2013 server install is pretty default, CAS/MBX roles and some basic configuration performed such as new DNS entries, Public SSL certs installed and assigned, URL's updates, SCP updated. I have review and resolved some errors from the event logs
for over chatty warnings about disk space (the warning is that we have loads of space...)
This is a brief outline of the environment:
    Exchange 2007 SP3 RU13
UK - Two physical locations in a stretch LAN (100Mb WAN)
4 x CCR Cluster Mailbox Servers in two separate CCR Clusters
Cluster 1 - Windows 2003 R2: One physical, one virtual server - don't ask, legacy install and I know the virtual is not a supported configuration.
Cluster 2 - Windows 2008 R2: Two virtuals - New cluster built following a 4 day failure of Cluster 1. The aim was to move to supported config and decommission cluster 1.
Note: Migration of Cluster 1 to Cluster 2 was halted as 2013 was so close it seemed pointless to continue the migration and instead migrate both Clusters to 2013 once in production.
    2 x Virtual Windows 2003 R2 - Hub Transport Servers
    2 x Virtual Windows 2003 R2 - Client Access Servers
    1 x Virtual Windows 2003 R2 - Unified Messaging Server
    1 x Virtual Windows 2003 R2 - Edge Transport Server (DMZ)
    US - One physical location
1 x Physical Windows 2008 R2 - Mailbox, Client Access, Hub Transport Server
    Exchange 2013 CU5
UK - Installed into same site along side Exchange 2007 servers
    1 x Virtual Windows 2012 R2 - Mailbox, Client Access Server
Problem 2 Error Message - Please note, server names and domain name changed:

    Hi Off2work,
I've gone through the article and the Get-OutlookAnywhere commandlet looks fine (especially when compared with our working CAS).
Having looked through IIS I have spotted two additional misconfigurations with a missing setting to require SSL on the RPC folder and also the .NET version was not set.
I've now set those to Require SSL and .NET 2.0.5072 however this has made no difference following restarted of both 2007 CAS and 2013 servers.
I could potentially reinstall the CAS server or additionally decommission it as we have two of them and the other is not causing any errors with the 2013 server. This broken CAS server doesn't even have DNS records (except it's own hostname) or firewall
rules pointing to it, nor does it have any active client connections if I check with a quick netstat -a
As for UM, it's next on my list following some client/server connectivity testing so I have not yet assigned the SSL to the services or setup the dial plans, etc.
The services do start most of the time, but others then don't so it's not a consistent issue with just this service. On my current boot, the DAG Management service failed to start, but again I don't have a DAG implemented yet.
I will see if UM drops out of that list once I've configured it shortly
Thanks for taking the time to respond (and that goes to DareDevil too)

    This is my output,
i gave start date from 04-Mar-2015 and end date 07-Mar-2015, so it shows me the meeting suggestion time from 04-Mar to 06-Mar till 23.30, that is fine, but for 07-Mar, it just shows first 10 meeting time only till 4.30 only, y so, on 07-Mar-2015 also it
should give time till 23.30 . right.

  • Duplicate mail issue in coexistence mode

    Hi All,
We have a problem which we are struggling to resolve. We have Exch 2003 and 2010 in coexistence mode. 3 CAS Server array with the 2003 Bridgehead/Front End Server still in existence which forwards all outgoing email to CAS and then out to the internet. 2003
and 2010 Mailbox servers still exist in all sites.
We send out bulk mail and have sender based routing configured on the CAS to smarthost to a specific service provider; not the same one where our normal mail goes through. When we send out email from a Telnet/SMTP session or from the systems that generate
the bulk mails which connects to our 2003 FE server the emails being send from the adresses listed in the sender based rule are getting duplicated and you receive 2 of each. When you connect the same Telnet session of the system that sends out the emails directly
to the CAS Array only one copy of the email is being sent out so the problem is from the sender addresses configured in the source based routing rule on the CAS Array but only when mails are being send from a Telnet/SMTP session
What is strange is that when i send a email from the mailbox of any of the addresses configured in the rule there is NO DUPLICATE messages....only from a TELNET/SMTP Session
What can cause this? I would appreciate any help...
    Thanks in advance

Hi All, We have setup a transport rule to do the source based routing. We found a solution - well kind of. If I do a tracking on the messages which comes through as duplicates. It shows the duplicate message is being generated in the Message Categorizer
on the 2003 Server before passing it on to the CAS Array. The 2 emails I suspect/assume is the one for the user and the one is the journaling email. The CAS then deliver the one to the user and the confusion comes with the second message I think. I do not
think CAS knows how to send the 2nd email to the journaling platform and see it as a message from the "Sender" who originally sent the message. because the transport rule then says if it comes from one of these adresses smarthost it to the bulk mail platform
that is what CAS does and because the sender adress is in the rule it delivers it again to the user and does not send it to the journaling platform The fix was to edit the rule and say if the email is destined for the journaling domain (@whatever.com) do not
send it to the smarthost specified in the rule

  • Coexistence Exch2k7 Exch2k10 - Mobile issues during migration

    Hi,
we have 02 servers running Exch2k7, one for CAS and another for HUB/MBX, the third server is running CAS/HUB for Exch2k10; I also reviewed URLs for Outlook Anywhere, ActiveSync and etc. The old servers are using URLs pointing to legacy.domain.com.br and
the new server is pointing to webmail.domain.com.br.
The outlook is running fine since users already received alerts about MS Outlook asking to replace the HTTPS from https://webmail.domain.com.br to https://legacy.domain.com.br.
My big issue is related with mobile users. Talking about DNS, mobile users today are pointing to webmail.domain.com.br which is pointing to the OLD CAS external IP address and works fine. I have only one new user hosted by the new server since we ADDED the
MBX role to it few days ago. During the tests, I changed the DNS for 'webmail' in a way to point to the NEW CAS external IP address and if the user which is hosted on the OLD MBX server tries to log-in then the browser redirects fine to https://legacy.domain.com.br.
If the user belongs to the new server, works fine using OWA 2010 interface.
OWA and Outlook is working fine.
Mobile users which are current pointed to webmail.domain.com.br and hosted by the OLD MBX server, they stop to work when we change the DNS from OLD to the NEW CAS external ip address; so after some complains we need put the 'webmail' DNS entry pointing back
to the OLD CAS external IP address.
    >>> That behavior for mobiles is expected?? I was expecting the mobiles change automatically from 'webmail.domain.com.br' to 'legacy.domain.com.br' as outlook does.
    * the SSL certificate on the OLD CAS is running for these names: 'legacy.domain.com.br, autodiscover.domain.com.br and webmail.domain.com.br'.
    * the SSL certificate on the NEW CAS is running for these names: 'webmail.domain.com.br and autodiscover.domain.com.br'.
    >>> Any help will be appreciated <<<
