EX90 failed upgrade from 5.1.3 to 7.1.2

We have 2 EX90's and in an attempt to make them safe from shellshock I have been working on upgrading their system software.  The first one updated with no issues.  The 2nd one however, will not update to 7.1.2.  It will get to the point of applying tasks on the and then upon reboot reports that the update failed.
I have tried resetting the device to factory defaults, still nothing.
Looking through the log files I can't see anything out of the ordinary, but I also don't really know what I should be looking for.  I'd be glad to send any log files that would help diagnose this.
Has anyone had this issue before?
Thanks.

Try updating it with the touch panel disconnected.  I've seen this work on a few EX90s.  (The Touch will upgrade itself once it's reconnected following the upgrade).

  • Failed upgrade from 10.5.8 (Leopard) to 10.6 (Snow Leopard)

I'm using a 17-inch iMac (specs below) and as fair a can tell it meets the system requirements for running snow leopard. The discs are fine and I've installed it on two other machines in the house, one which is minimum spec.
I've read other peoples posts, even one that had the same problem, but it wasn't resolved. Also I've attempting several installs and each time, it installs partially, gets to the part where it reboots to continue the installation and as soon as it hits the "33 minutes" it says install failed due to error, but gives no details about the error.
    Can anyone help?

Why aren't you installing Snow Leopard directly instead of Leopard and then upgrading? Does it fail at the same place? Can you use one of your other Macs on which you have successfully installed Snow Leopard to install onto this computer?
BTW, installing a single-user copy of OS X on more than one computer at the same time is illegal.

  • I upgraded my iBook G4 from 384MBytes to 640Mbytes and upgraded from Tiger to Leopard. After a few weeks the HDD failed. New Leopard install reports: "insufficient memory". I need Tiger install disks so I can install

I upgraded my iBook G4 from 384MBytes to 640Mbytes and upgraded from Tiger to Leopard.
After a few weeks the HDD failed. I bought a new disk, installed it and trued to install Leopard, but the  install fails reporting "insufficient memory".
I assume the installation requires more memory than the OS actually needs to be able to run.
I need Tiger install CD/DVD so I can install Tiger first and then upgrade to Leopard.

Call Apple Customer Support 1-800-767-2775, provide the Serial Number and specifications of the Mac, and for a reasonable fee, they will supply a replacement set of system discs (if available).
The discs will be for the original version of the OS that was pre-installed when the Mac was manufactured.
You need much more RAM than that.

  • Upgrade  from 10.6.7 to 10.6.8 failed on MacBook Pro

Sometime in the last 24 hours my wife's MacBook Pro (which she bought in December 2010) went through the automatic upgrades for (1) the Mac OS X Update to 10.6.8 and (2) Java for Mac OS X 10.6 update 5. When she tried to boot up her machine this morning she got this grey screen error message:
    panic(cpi 0 caller 0x2ab7a2): "Version mis-match between Kernel and CPU PM"@/SourceCache/xnu/xnu-1504.9.37/osfmk/i386/pmCPI.c:707
It was impossible to enter her computer in safe mode. A disk check indicated that there were no disk problems.
Googling "0x2ab7a2" came up with  a couple of older references to the error occuring when upgrading Hackintosh computers, definitely not my wife's situation. I couldn't find anything that related this error to a straight OS upgrade to a MacBook Pro running Snow Leopard. (I did note some references to sleepenabler.kext in the discussions regarding the occurrence of this error in other contexts, but this file was not present on my wife's computer and I have no idea what it is.)
By absolute luck she had just backed up her machine for the first time this past Wednesday with a new time capsule we had bought to share. I booted her MacBook Pro off the install disk and then did a restore using the most recent backup of the operating system that Time Machine had stored on the Time Capsule (very nifty).
*** AS NEAR AS WE CAN TELL, THIS FIXED THE PROBLEM. ***
That said,  it was a very tense afternoon (especially sinc Mac support was shut down for the holiday). I would very much like to know if any other folks upgrading to 10.6.8 have received this same error message. I would also be curious if Apple's technicians have any theories regarding what caused this file corruption on my wife's computer.
I am not sure if this is relevant, but I should note that when my wife's employer installed Apple Remote Desktop on her MacBook Pro, they also installed a current verson of Sophos Antivirus for the Mac. Is there any chance that the antivirus program somehow or other mangled the OS update?
Thanks for any and all feedback.

You should never install OS updates or upgrades with anti-virus software enabled as it will definitely corrupt the process.
That said I would disable the anti-virus software before attempting the updates a second time. Also, be sure you repair the hard drive and permissions before updating. My suggestions for less troublesome updates or upgrades:
How to Install OS X Updates Successfully
    A. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions:
Boot from your current OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. Then select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger and later.) After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer. Now restart normally.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior (4.0 for Tiger) and/or TechTool Pro (4.5.2 for Tiger) to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
    B. Make a Bootable Backup Using Restore Option of Disk Utility:
Open Disk Utility from the Utilities folder.
Select the destination volume from the left side list.
Click on the Restore tab in the DU main window.
Check the box labeled Erase destination.
Select the destination volume from the left side list and drag it to the Destination entry field.
Select the source volume from the left side list and drag it to the Source entry field.
Double-check you got it right, then click on the Restore button.
Destination means the external backup drive. Source means the internal startup drive.
    C. Important: Please read before installing:
If you have a FireWire hard drive connected, disconnect it before installing the update unless you will boot from this drive and install the update on it. Reconnect it and turn it back on after installation is complete and you've restarted.
You may experience unexpected results if you have installed third-party system software modifications, or if you have modified the operating system through other means. (This does not apply to normal application software installation.)
The installation process should not be interrupted. If a power outage or other interruption occurs during installation, use the standalone installer (see below) from Apple Downloads to update.  While the installation is in progress do not use the computer.
    D. Download and install update(s) if updating:
    Use Software Update, or
    Download standalone updater(s).
    E. To upgrade from an earlier major version:
Purchase the requisite installer package (Snow Leopard for example.)
    Boot from the installer DVD.
    Choose the install option:
    None required for Snow Leopard.
Archive and Install for versions prior to Snow Leopard.

I'm upgrading from LMS 3.0 to LMS 3.2 on Solaris. I've met all of the prereq's, patches, etc. It keeps failing on the Backup...It claims I need 15 Gig for the backup. The backup directory I'm using (/opt/backup) has 35 Gig free, so that shouldn't be the issue.

I've tried this multiple times and each time it appears to fail on a different file/folder in the sw_images directory. This is our FTP directory where we store lots of IOS images for download. I've removed each of these files it errors out on and it keeps failing. I just removed all files from the sw_images folder and am trying the backup again now.
I'm attaching the backup.log which contains the failure information for each backup I've tried in the past two days.
My main question is...can I skip this backup somehow? I've got another LMS 3.0 system that I can export everything I need from. Skipping the backup isn't an option on the install/upgrade? It gives me the option to quit the install or try the backup again.
    Thanks,

You can skip the backup with a hidden option:
    ./setup.sh -b nobackup
However, I wouldn't feel comfortable until figuring out why the backup has been failing, ostensibly because tar is running into the 255-char limit (100 for the filename and 155 for the path), a result of the many iterations of the following:
    sw_images/cisco_configs/sw_images/cisco_configs/sw_images/cisco_configs/sw_images/cisco_configs/sw_images/cisco_configs/sw_images/cisco_configs/sw_images/cisco_configs/sw_images/

    Hi everyone...
Here is a curly one for the Sun gurus.
I attempted to perform the upgrade from Sol 8 (Dec/02) to Sol 10 (from the CD/DVD Jan/06) and got all the way past the "Test Upgrade Profile". The initialize started after I clicked onto the gui "Install Now" button. However, it fails after an hour or so - each an every time.
We have the 4.2.1 DiskSuite defined on a 3310 disk array and well as the 2 system disks - which are striped and mirrored. I can not do a Live Upgrade as I don't have a spare disk, so Sun Support in India suggested I do the upgrade in place...but is crashs attempting to copy files from the CD to the Server, as well as , so other strange error messages?
The first attempt was to leave vfstab untouched, the 2nd was to comment out the disk array (D30, D31, & D32) devices. But both fail. The install logs will be uploaded.

But the upgrade just fails. I would like to keep the disk array and its data intact for the upgrade as it has Oracle 11i Apps databases and its a bit of work redefining the metastat and loading Oracle, and the other bits it needs, as well as Netbackup etc.
So, are there are any bright sparks out there that can help?

Case 3: upgrade via SAINT is not supported by SAP. When uploading the

Please advise on how we can perform the upgrade to EHP5.
    Many thanks in advance.
    regards,

The thing is Solution Manager was able to produce the XML file during the previous upgrade to 604 (the one without SAP_APPL 604).
So how can it not be supported by SAP?
If it is not supported by SAP, how can I proceed from here?

    Environment details
    Repository Database Version is 10.1.0.4
    OS Platform -- Linux X86
    ============================
    Performed the following steps
Note: Set the ORACLE_HOME to the OMS_HOME
    1. Drop the existing repository:
    <OMS_HOME>/sysman/admin/emdrep/bin/RepManager <repository_hostname> <repository_listener_port> <repository_sid> -action drop
    2. Create a new repository:
    <OMS_HOME>/sysman/admin/emdrep/bin/RepManager <repository_hostname> <repository_listener_port> <repository_sid> -action create
    3. Re-secure the OMS. This is neccessary as the previous secure key has been lost due to the repository being recreated:
    <OMS_HOME>/bin/emctl secure oms -sysman_pwd <sysman password> -reg_pwd <OMS registration password>
    4. Start the OMS:
    <OMS_HOME>/opmn/bin/opmnctl startall
    5. Re-secure any agents that access the OMS:
    <AGENT_HOME>/bin/emctl secure agent
After performing this step the OMS upgrade is done fine, But when tried to install the required software libraries as a part of the post installation task, the administration link is not present under deployments>> provisioning.
    Then tried
    + ./runConfig.sh ORACLE_HOME=/opt/oracle/OEM/oms10g ACTION=Configure MODE=Perform which gave java.lang.NullPointerException errors
+ Also ran the runInstaller again during which the deployment configuration assistant configured successfully.
Still the administrator and other tabs are not present under deployments>> Provisioning
    Any help is appreciated.
    Regards,
    Kamal.

Your 10.2.0.2 repository is 10.1.0.4. Did you apply patch before you continue to upgrade to 10.2.0.4?

I am upgrading from Tiger to SL in a MCBPro with 2 gb ram and an intel chip and I get the following notice:  Installation failed.... THE INSTALLER COULD NOT COPY THE NCESSARY SUPPORT FILES. Any help is appreciated...

Yes.   I've found that works best.  Especially if the drive is external, since external connections are typically slower, and Spotlight loves to eat up space going back and forth.   Time Machine will eat up as much space as it can, and typically needs drives at least twice the size of the original hard drive that is being backed up, if being backed up in full.   So unfortunately there is a lot of empty space that is needed for smooth operation.

  • After MAR upgrade from 4.0 - 7.0 login to ars_db fails

    Hi,
After MAR upgrade from 4.0 -> 7.0 login to ars_db fails with the message "inconsistent database structure". For me it is a bit weired to do the ars_db upgrade to 7.0 SP4 and then start the transport agent which is still in the 4.0 level but this is the way it is described in the upgrade guide in order to delete Blobs after MAR upgrade.
Is the guide here inconsistent? Don't we have to upgrade the tools and services first before deleting Blobs?
    Did anyone experience similar issues?
    Regards
    Whity

    Hello Whity
After upgrading the MAR,To upgrade the MRS Tools and Services follow the steps below:
    1. Stop and uninstall the 4.0 Transport Agent Service. Use the Transport Installer to
    uninstall the above services.
    2. If you are not able to uninstall the TA, uninstall the service manually using the following command sc delete [service name]
.Also check that there are no entry for that service at the registry location HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services.
    3. On your local copy of the Upgrade DVD open the folder Mobile_Client_Upgrade\UpgradePurposeOnly . If you upgrade from CRM 4.0 you have to run SETUP.exe. If you upgrade from a higher release you have to run UPGRADE.exe
    4. Install the Transport Service again after MRS tools and services are upgraded to 7.0 SP 04.
In your case, TA was not uninstalled pripr to the MRS tools and servcies upgrade.Hence you still see 4.0 TA. Please follow the above steps to solve the issue.
Please refer to the section 5.2.7 section of the upgrade guide document for more information.
    Regards
