Exact adapter I need to connect to an older boxed television?

I have a mid 2009 Macbook and have baught without any results several adapters and come to the conclusion each device varies on output adapter.
I have a dead backlight on my macbook, which I can't even attempt to reach because of a stuck battery (my first topic) So I need someway to flawlessly transfer the screen image. What exact adapter/s do I need to move from the macbook to a red white yellow component cable input? I will really appreciate a correct answer as I've had this since 09' and don't want it to be junk, or need to stare at it with a flashlight to do the simplest tasks.

Thanks for replying, but your answer doesn't help me much. Is there anyway you could tell me the specific adapter needed would be? Ipurchased one from Amazon that I think was meant for the late 09 mode and it for but didn't relay the image to the composite output.also would you happen to know price to repair a faulty inverter wire?
This goes out to anybody else reading this as well. Any help is always appreciated:)

No eSATA to USB. Just a SATA/IDE to USB adapter. Google SATA/IDE to USB adapter and you will get tons of links to buy them. Most likely your local computer electronics store has them, although they might be more expensive buying locally than online.
I have several. You can get either USB 2, which what I recommend, or USB 3. USB is backward compatible so a USB 3 adapter will work on a USB 2 port and a USB 2 adapter will work on a USB 3 port. Backward compatible in both directions.
I suggest a USB 2 type because there have been some problems with certain USB 3 devices, the USB 3 interface used isn't all that good in those certain devices. USB 3 is still fairly new where as USB 2 has been around for over 10 years.

At the apple store they said I needed an esata to usb wire.  But looking at wires on line has been confusing.  Is sata the same as esata?  How do I know if I need a usb 3 or usb 2?

  • Which adapter do I need to connect my new Mac Mini to my old Apple Cinema HD monitor?

I have a perfectly good Apple Cinema HD monitor (model M8536), but it has an ADC connection, and my new Mac Mini isn't compatible with it. I've bought a new screen for the Mac Mini, but there are going to be times when I need to run two screens in parallel on the Mini. Can anyone tell me which adapter I need to do this? I've looked at the Apple DVI to ADC connector  (M8661LL), but I'm not sure this is what I need, and they're quite pricey, even second-hand on eBay, so I don't want to make a mistake!
    Thanks!

Thanks, dwb ... unfortunately I don't think I'd get very much for my old display, it's so old (> 10 years)! But it still works perfectly, and I'm loathe to throw it away ... and there are going to be times when I need the two screens, so even though I've bought a new 27" Philips monitor, it would be good just to buy an adapter to hook up the old screen ...

  • What cable/adapter do I need to connect my MacBook Pro to a Sharp Aquos TV?

What cable/adapter do I need to connect my MacBook Pro to a Sharp Aquos TV?
I want to watch videos on youtube or read articles on my laptop, and I want a cable/adapter that will hook up the Macbook to the TV and display the webpage that is on the laptop.

Of course it doesn't. But you can buy an adaptor from HDMI to the Mini-DisplayPort port on the computer.

  • What adapter do i need to connect my computer to the internet

I am woundering what adapter i need to plug into my computer so that i can  plug my computer directly into the wall and use the internet using a ethernet cord.  I am not wanting to use wify for that does work great. I have to plug my computer directly into the internet using an ethernet cable unfornately the new mac pros do not come with and ethernet port. I am wanting to do this because of 3D gaming they say that i can not use wify to play that particular game but have to be connected directly. I do how ever have thunderbolt port actually two. I also have usb 3.0 the mac store says that i need a thunder bolt ethernet adapter but which one i need to buy. I have been reading alot on those adapters and they say that the adapter is Giabit ethernet adapter will that work with normal internet speeds or is that cable just for a gigabit Network it is hard to understand all the details and what is going to work... I have also heard that the thunderbolt is faster but what the thunder bolt is used for is to connect a display or is it used also to connect to the internet directly. any help on this would be great.. My question again is what adapter do i need to hook my computer directly to the internet?

You need the Thunderbolt to Ethernet adapter > http://store.apple.com/us/product/MD463ZM/A/thunderbolt-to-gigabit-ethernet-adap ter
Thunderbolt is a video, audio and data port, so you can use it to connect external displays, external drives or different adapters to connect a display or connect the Mac to the Internet. In the case of Ethernet, you won't notice the Thunderbolt speed, as it's more for external disks

    Macbook Pro Model is: Late 2009, 2.26 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 8 GB 1067 MHz DDR3, OS X 10.9.4 (13E28)
iMac Model: Late 2007, 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 4 GB 667 MHZ DDR2 SDRAM, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.5)
    Thanks!

The 2007 iMac does not support cabled input. see > Target Display Mode: Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Like Niel suggest's, your only option is to use a network based connection like > ScreenRecycler

I doubt this can be relocated or moved so you might want to just repost in the macbook pro area.

Can you afford a new Thunderbolt case and cable? any case with FW800 is going to be slow 72MB/sec and less, and any new 1TB drive is capable of 75MB/s minimum up to 125MB/sec.
Thunderbolt storage can of course when setup properly reach 100's of MB higher using multiple drives.
Use what you have for a system backup or for secondary backup storage.
you might be able to take the drive - most cases allow you to open and swap drives - and use this:

  • I am confused about Icloud. I have a 5 year old Macbook, a 2 year old macbook and a 5 year old mac mini. What exactly do I need to do to get all this connected via Icloud. I also have an Iphone 3G. Help please!

I am confused about Icloud. I have a 5 year old Macbook, a 2 year old macbook and a 5 year old mac mini. What exactly do I need to do to get all this connected via Icloud. I also have an Iphone 3G. Help please! Also, I still don't understand exactly what the benefits are. At the moment it seems a lot of hassle to change a system that's been working perfectly well and that I'm very happy with. I'm not at all sure whether the mac mini (1.66 GHz INtel Core Duo) can be brought up to the relevant spec to run ICloud.  Any thoughts?

There are two aspects to iCloud.  One is simply getting an account, or migrating a mobileme account to iCloud.  The second part is using the various features of iCloud to sync contacts, calendars, use music match or photo sharing, and store iWorks documents.
First to get an iCloud account:
If you have a mobileme account, you can migrate by simply logging onto www.icloud.com (ignore any references to Lion and just click through to complete the migration).  If you have OS X Lion or an iOS 5 mobile device, you can create an iCloud account on that device using any valid AppleID.
Once you have an account, you can use JUST the mail account if you wishi - it is a standard IMAP account so you would set it up like any other IMAP email account you have, in whatever client program you use to read email.
To use the OTHER feautes of iCloud, your computers will have to be running OS X Lion (10.7).  Your iPhone 3G will never be able to use iCloud as it cannot run iOS 5 (you need a min. of an iPhone 3GS to run iOS 5).
The requirements for OS X Lion are here - http://www.apple.com/macosx/specs.html  You need a min. of a Core 2 duo processor so you mini is not capable of running Lion.
So, in your case, the single reasons for iCloud would be if you have a mobileme account, then use the online www.icloud.com to migrate your account so you do not lose your @me.com email address.  You can use iCloud email (without using any other iCloud features) by setting it up as IMAP mail with these settings - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4864
If you want an iCloud account and do NOT already have a mobileme account, you will need to upgrade one machine at least to Lion in order to be able to create an iCloud account.

You need to ask your network admin folk to check your PC and ensure that it is correctly configured for IP networking for your network - valid IP address, valid IP subnet mask, etc.
You can look at your existing IP configuration in Windows by opening a command console and typing the command "+ipconfig+".
Once that is done, you need to test connectivity between your PC and the database server. You need the IP address of the server for that and use the "+ping+" command to see if you get a ping echo response from the server.
If you configure your Oracle client software (e.g. +%ORACLE_HOME%\network\admin\tnsnames.ora+ ) to use a hostname and not IP address, you need to make sure that your PC's IP stack can resolve that hostname into an IP address. Once again the "+ping+" command can be used, but this time using the hostname instead. The output will show the IP address the hostname resolved to.
All these are basic networking issues - and have nothing really to do with Oracle itself. You first need to get the networking to work on your PC, before attempting to use Oracle client-server.

  • Can some one please tell me what leads i need to connect my mac book pro to my tv

Hi i have a mac book pro can someone tell me what leads i need to connect it to my tv
    thanks scott

If your TV has HDMI, and if your MBP is compatible with this adapter, I highly recommend:
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/H1824ZM/A/Moshi_Mini_DisplayPort_to_HDMI_Adapt er
It sends the audio out through the mini DisplayPort into the HDMI cable, but only if your computer has that capability.  On that page, scroll down and look for a comment titled "How you know if it is supported w/o guessing."

  • What will i need to connect my macbook to my tv?

I have an A1278 model macbook, what are all the things i need to connect it to my tv? Because ive heard from some that it may or may not include sound depending on what cable i get. im planning to buy it off ebay because ive called best buy and they sell it for about 40$ whereas ebay has t for 8$.
What kind of cables will i need for sound and video?

The A1278 is the model 5,1 Aluminum Unibody which has a Mini DisplayPort. If you connect the MacBook using a Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter you will probably need to use external speakers or a 3.5mm stereo headphone jack to RCA sound plugs connected to a stereo sound system if your TV doesn't have separate RCA input plugs or a 3.5mm stereo input plug for audio with the HDMI plug. The Mini DisplayPort to HDMI doesn't carry audio unless you have the Mid 2010 model 7,1 and there're no audio plugs on most TVs to work with HDMI since it's expecting audio with the HDMI. But check your TV manual to see if it has audio plugs that work with one of the HDMI ports.
With the Late 2008 model 5,1 Aluminum Unibody there is an adapter that uses the Mini DisplayPort and a USB port to combine video and audio to HDMI. It's only 2 channel stereo not 5.1 Dolby Surround.
