Labview 7 for Linux on Redhat9,NI example Finder not working.

I have Labview7 for Linux on Redhat9, installed at /usr/local/lv71. "NI example Finder" is not working, the function of browser, search,submit,none is working. When I try to close it, the window looks dead, cannot close it. I will force to close it. What is the problem? Where are the examples?
Another question: the simple help text is working, but the details help is not working. I can open the help file by Mozilla. But I want the help could be linked, like what it is in Windows platform.

If whenever you type �labview� at the prompt, LabVIEW 7.1 is launched, it probably means that the paths are setup to launch 7.1 but it doesn�t necessarily mean that you do not have LabVIEW 7.0 installed.
If you only installed LabVIEW 7.1 in that computer, it is possible that somebody else had installed LabVIEW 7.0 before.
What I suggest doing is to run the UNINSTALL scripts for both, LabVIEW 7.0 and 7.1, and reinstall LabVIEW 7.1 as root, not as user.

I have got a problem with Example Finder and when I double click on an example I get this error after about 3 or 4 minutes.
An error occurred. The NI Example finder was unsuccessful in sending a request to the NI Helpserver
Wud u plz let me know what is the problem and how can I open the examples.

Check this first: Error when opening NI Example Finder: The NI HelpServer could not be found
The intention there is to check the service and to make sure your firewall isn't blocking the port.
Also, check to see if any other NI services are disabled. If there are, turn them on one by one to see if that fixes the problem. You may have to restart LabVIEW after each attempt.

How do I see the source code for 'NI Example Finder'?

At the LabView Express demo, the rep showed us how to view the source code for 'NI Example Finder' (started with Help, Find Examples...). Please refresh my memory.

There are a couple of VI's that shipped with LabView 7.0, but you can't see the diagrams.
C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 7.0\resource\system\HelpServer.llb\Run Example Finder__NATIONAL INSTRUMENTS.vi
Press Ctrl-E on this VI and it prompts you for a password.
This VI is run by C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 7.0\resource\system\HelpServer.llb\HelpServer__NATIONAL INSTRUMENTS.vi
There's also C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 7.0\help\_exfinder.llb\Example Finder Launcher.vi.
Tyring to open this VI starts the NI Example Finder. Note the taskbar icon which is different from the normal VI icon.
It seems like NI is trying to keep us out, even if it used LabView to develop the Example Finder.

In Example Finder, I can't open the example, error: server not running

It say's the web server is not running when I try to click into any examples. It's installed under academic license 12.0.1.f3

Does this issue only occur when you are logged on to the Domain? In other words, if you donot log on to the network does the example finder work correctly then? If so then you probably have to ask your System Administrator to allow access for the NI System Web server in your Firewall.
A good resource for finding out what ports should be opened in the Firewaal to have NI SW work correctly is:

Example Finder broken in LabView 7.1 in OS-X 10.4?

I've just tried to install LabView 7.1 (and then upgraded to 7.1.1) on a Mac running OS-X 10.4.2. The Example Finder and other features (e.g., no Welcome Screen) do not seem to run. I went and installed on another system running 10.3.9 and all was fine. Is this a known problem? Is there a patch?

Sorry, I wasn't clear in my post. It did not work in 7.1 either. I had tried upgrading to 7.1.1 to see if that made the difference, but it did not. I have already tried installing 7.l twice.
In the LabView opening screen, I try to launch the Example Finder either in the Open... or Help... buttons. The "Launching Example Finder" small window flashes briefly, but nothing happens. The examples themselves are there, if opened manually, and they work.

Improving Search for Keywords in NI Example Finder

Search for Keywords is presently limited to logical "OR" search. It would highly profit from logical "AND" Search.

Thinking out of the box here...
It's possible to search just the bookmarks with a script. The problem is how to show the result, since it's not possible to highlight the found bookmarks.
One option I can think of is to change the color of the matches to a different color, like red. Unfortunately, this doesn't work in Reader...
The only other option that might work in Reader is to tell the user where to look, ie which position in the tree (and what items are before and after it).

Error when opening Find Examples under the Help menu

Today when I tried opening the Find Examples under the Help menu in LabVIEW 6.1, it would not open correctly. The Find Examples window appears and then an error window appears on top of it with the following description -
"Error 1 occurred at open or create file (function 1)."
Then ther is a list of possible reasons.
I have had this version of LabVIEW installed for over 6 months and had no problems until today. I tried running the installation program for LabVIEW and repairing LabVIEW but had no success.
What should I do next? Is there a file/s I can delete and then install manually?

I've never actually heard of this error ocurring with the Examples Finder before. If it continues, I would probably just reinstall LabVIEW. That should clear up the problem.

Enter Key cannot be used in find examples!!!

I always use the enter key to enter or open a file/folder. But in LabVIEW example finder its not at all working.. Is there any special reason for not allowing the Enter key???

Trying to "find examples" in newly installed LabVIEW8 results in an Error 2

Hi all, and Happy New Year,
I recently installed LabVIEW8 on my machine, an until yesterday hadn't really opened it up to try anything. I tried to look at the examples and got the following error message:
Error 2 occurred at System Exec.vi. Command was ""C:\Program Files\National Instruments\Shared\example finder\1.0\bin\NIExampleFinder" -- labview 8.0 license,LabVIEWPro "
I've installed this on my P4 laptop with 512M RAM and a lot of available HD (50Gb+). I'm running WinXP(home) with SP2, and haven't run into any problems with the previous versions (well none that weren't expected ;-) ). I also notice that when I go to the "Add/remove" programs in control panel, none of the versions of LabVIEW on the machine show up (LV6.1, 7.1.1 and now 8.0), nor do I see any "uninstall" icons under their respective folders in "Start". I figured that since I had originally had LV8beta on here last spring/summer that I would make sure and uninstall it (if still on) and the newly installed 8.0 and start over, but don't see where to do it.

I uninstalled my latest LV8 attempt through "add/remove" programs, didn't see any signs of LV8beta. I reinstalled it (LV8) and I still have no example access (well I can go to the example directory and open them), no Example finder. I then opened LV7.1.1 and now when I try to get examples there I get something flashing on the screen (small, size of an error message box) that opens and closes too quickly to actually read. I had examples after I installed the LV8beta, it has only been since I installed the current LV8 that I've had these problems. Still trying to figure it out, but have to concentrate today on finishing a project at a customer. It seems to point at some incompatibility of the examples bin file, or a corrupted one, so maybe if I delete it manually before installing LV8, or delete it and reinstall 7.1.1. (wouldn't want 8 to install one that it could only use)

Where can I find example LabVIEW VIs for the NI-USRP?

There are several sources of example LabVIEW VIs for the NI USRP:
We have established a NI Community "NI USRP Example LabVIEW VIs" where you can find example VIs from us (NI) and the community.
The NI-USRP driver installs a variety of example VIs to the to the following folder on your PC:
<LabVIEW Installation path>\examples\instr\niUSRP
where you should replace <LabVIEW Installation path> with the root folder of your local LabVIEW installation. For instance, my Windows 7 32-bit PC here has LabVIEW 2011 installed and the examples can be found here: C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 2011\examples\instr\niUSRP
I've installed the NI-USRP driver, but I can't seem to find the new examples in the LabVIEW Example Finder. Where are the example LabVIEW VIs installed by the NI-USRP driver?
Although the NI-USRP driver does indeed install examples, the current NI-USRP 1.1 release does not update the LabVIEW Example Finder with entries for these examples. To find the examples, you can navigate the Windows Start Menu to the following location:
Start Menu\Programs\National Instruments\NI-USRP\Examples
This Start Menu entry includes several Shortcuts that point to folders that are the home to example VIs.

It looks like Agilent/HP makes the 8990A, but I was not able to find a driver for it that we or Agilent has written for this device.
Since I am not familiar with the 8990A, I cannot recommend which drivers might be similar, but you are pointed in the right direction. Agilent themselves might know more about which models use similar command sets so that you can modify a driver easily.

"Find Example..." missing from the help menu

Both the files:
C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 7.1\help\_exfinder.llb
C:\Program Files\National Instruments\Shared\Example Finder\1.0\BIN\NIExampleFinder.exe
are in place and functional but the menu item is missing off my v7.1.1 help menu.
Any idea how I can put it back?

I would agree with tst that a repair or uninstall and re-install would be the way to go. Before you do that though, just make sure that it isn't one of the hidden menu items by clicking on Help twice, or the double arrow at the bottom. I can't tell you how many times I go looking for Save All and have a moment of panic when I can't find it before I remember those seldom used menu items get hidden.

If you installed the NI-845x driver, it should have installed in LabVIEW examples in the Example Finder. These will be configured for the 8451 but not necessarily your specific I2C device. The examples are located in the Hardware Input and Output»I2C and SPI folder in the Browse view of the Example Finder. I hope this helps!

How to find the exact word in a long text?

Scenario:
I have long text containing the system status of the equipment.
Issue:
I need to find the exact word from the list of the statuses. I have tried to use the FIND keyword but it does not work for all the cases.
Example:
          FIND 'REL' IN <status_list> IGNORING CASE.
          if sy-subrc = 0.
          " do something
          endif.
If the status list contains the word 'RELR', the sy-subrc is set to 0 (which may be because it searches the list based on a pattern) but I want to get the exact match.
Can anybody suggest me on this.

This is becacuse when you check

It is having RELR so that is the reason you are getting subrc = 0.

LV 8.6 library function in an example is not found

Several "examples" in LV 8.6 include a particular library function that is not found when I load the example VI. Where can I find this function? I have an "example" of one of the vi's attached containing the mystery function.

Additional info: The Information text box on the Example Finder provides descriptions for the examples. If an example requires a toolkit and you don't have it installed, it will tell you.
