Examples of using phpbb forum with iWeb site?

I'm in the process of converting my site to iWeb using a non .mac host and I'd love to see some examples of anyone using a phpbb forum with their site.
Thanks in advance!

Hi Mireille,
I know that iWeb won't support the forum per say but I should be able just have that specific page of my site point to the forum (not using iweb). I was just curious if anyone has done this and if they had any advice. Hopefully someday iweb will support forums as its a large part of sites like mine. I remember reading about the iframe so I'll look into that too. Thanks!
Chris

  • Using Google Analytics with iWeb site

Is it possible to use Google Analytics with an iWeb site? They have code they want me to put before the </body> tag.... and I can't find that tag. How do I get the code to show in iWeb? Can I insert this with an HTML snippet?
    Thanks!

    Hello ruralart,
After saving the automator workflow as a Finder Plugin,
mount you iDisk in the finder (ex. click on the iDisk icon in the left pane of a Finder window),
goto the folder iDisk / Web / Sites , select this folder "sites",
control-click on the folder to run the “Add Google Analytics” workflow.
Note : when you have iDisk Sync = ON, you'll see that the folder "web" is an alias so Automator will not work in this situation. You'll have to turn iDisk Sync OFF.
    Kind regards,
    Leo

To be notified of updates to a question whether it is your problem or not simply click on the "Get email notifications" and follow directed choice. Only the original poster can mark as solved, so there should be a slight difference in choice as an original poster and where you latch onto another question. Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
Apple didn't include web storage on iCloud. There are other web hostings (Blogspot, GoDaddy, etc.)

  • Using forums with IWEB

    Hey everyone,
I was wondering if forums are compatible with iweb. I want to create my own forums. If so what is recommended in making a forum.
    thank you

    Here is mine
    http://web.mac.com/kenan1085/KennosWebpage/Welcome.html
I still have a great deal of work to do compared to all your wonderful pages that I have looked at.
I intend to later do some cool adjustment as I learn more.
Comments would be really nice too !!

  • Can I set up a forum with iweb?

I'm looking to set up a forum as part of a college project and I was wondering if it is possible to do this with iweb10.
If it isn't does anyone know a free software that I can use?

Okay, firstly you have posted this is the wrong forum - this forum is for questions regarding iWeb 06 so you need to post this in the iWeb 09 forum. Also, please note that iWeb 10 does not exist. There is iWeb 09 and iLife has just been updated to iLife 11.
No, you cannot use a forum directly in iWeb itself. If you use an external server to publish to somewhere like GoDaddy, then they have forums that you can install on their servers such as PHBB. You set this up and then you can create a link to it from your iWeb site or insert the forum into your site as an iframe.
For free forums just do a Google search.

  • Strange issue with iWeb site, please help

    Hi everyone,
Until recently, I've been keeping an iWeb blog of my time in India. Nothing too complicated, just stories and photo albums. However, recently something strange has happened, and the website is no longer displaying correctly. It looks fine in iWeb, and when I publish it in a folder and open it locally, everything is fine. However, after uploading it to my hosting provider, it looks like this:
    http://www.egbertopreis.nl/India/
(screenshot of what it looks like here: http://egbertopreis.nl/website_screenshot.PNG )
This is a screenshot from iWeb of what it should look like: http://www.egbertopreis.nl/iWeb_screenshot.png
I'm using the 'darkroom' theme, but as you can see, something is clearly wrong. It is not displaying the menu correctly, the layout looks strange and it isn't loading any of the articles. The other pages are accessible if you navigate there directly, but there you have the same problem.
It looks like, for some reason, the CSS and javascript elements cannot be loaded, although I have no idea why this might be the case. They are all just static files, and it worked fine until about a week ago.
Although I'm an IT professional, I have literally no idea what could cause a problem like this. I went with iWeb because I wanted to use an 'easy' solution and not over-engineer something for once
Usually what I'd do in a situation like this, is just purge the whole site and re-upload it. However, since I'm traveling around, I don't have fast internet access anywhere and the site is now so large that it would take forever to completely re-upload. This is also the reason why I can't troubleshoot it properly myself...
Any help (or even words of encouragement :-)) whatsoever would be extremely welcome. Thanks in advance!

    Edit: Forgot to mention what I already tried myself;
    - deleted the HTML and XML files and let iWeb do 'publish changes'. Everything was re-uploadeded, but issue remained.
    - Deleted the 'Scripts' folder on the remote host, and manually re-uploaded from locally published folder. No effect.
    - Tried randomly changing layout items in the hope that any potentially corrupted files might be overwritten after publishing. No effect.

Hi Roddy, thanks for your reply. It wasn't just me though; a lot of other people from back also reported the same issue. I was also getting the same thing from behind a wired connection. You can still see and experience the issue yourself if you look here.
I've since 'resolved' the issue by getting a .Mac trial account. A friend helped me move the whole blog over there, where the site works as it is supposed to:
    http://web.me.com/eggmeister/India/
Therefore the issue has to be with the hosting. Right now I'm suspecting it might be some obscure configuration issue with the hosting company's server. Maybe something like too low a setting for Apache's 'MAX REQUESTS'. This might cause issues with all the javascript going on in the iWeb pages, loading elements back and forth. I'm in contact with the hosting provider, and will let you know what I find. Might be useful for future reference.

  • Hard drive dead with iweb site inside.  new iweb site replaced my old site!

Is the old site a gonner? I had published the site with a personal domain, hosted with mobile me. When adding a new site, iweb replaced my old one. the old one was my business portfolio. the new one is just a single property advertisement.
why dont I see my old site on mobile me? (even before I published this new one)

I don't believe so. Not unless the new site had the same name as the old/business site. Mount your iDisk and check inside the Web/Sites folder for your personal and business site folders.
What type of domain name forwarding are you using? If your business site is in a different domain file than the personal site the last published site will have the minimal URL for your MMe account: http://web.me.com/yourMMe_AccountName/.
You may have to change your domain name forwarding to include the business site name in the URL: http://web.me.com/yourMMe_Account_Name/Business_SiteName/.

  • ICal Integration with iWeb site

I used PHP iCalendar (Thanks to Gs World for having it on his page) and thought that this is pretty cool.
    http://www.txbluebonnetwp.org/iCal/
    What do you think?
This page is under my main calendar site (Click on the Test Calendar link in the Banner - if you get lost.)
Here is where to find PHP iCalendar. it is open source. and you have config it just a little in a text editor (Read the Read Me File)
    http://phpicalendar.net/
It is not terribly hard to get a calendar on the site. You make one in iCal, then put it in the calendar folder inside the PHP iCalendar Folder (get rid of the three samples (Work, Holidays etc.)
Upload that folder to your server, and make some links to that folder in you iWeb site. Customizing it can get trickier, but it is pretty logical the way it is laid out. I am hardly comfortable with code but seem to have it working pretty good so far.
Would love some feedback about the site!!!
    Thanks
    Cobe

I think you have to copy your calendar to the server. But it only takes a second.
As for a stylesheet, it has a folder of templates that you can modify: header.tpl, admin.tpl, calendar.tpl etc. (i changed the header.tpl - and it is changed on all the pages).
All the template files seem to be built nested within each other so that you only have to change it once.
There is also a default.css file in there.

  • Can I use java script with iWeb?

I am quite pleased with iWeb for my web requirements, commercial and private, but I need to insert java script and don't know how or if iWeb accepts it.

All custom code, including JavaScript, is pasted in the HTML Snippet.
Read this : Using the HTML Snippet
Everything you paste there, is your responsibility.
iWeb happily publishes your code, whether it works or not. If not, mend it.
    See examples here :
         http://www.wyodor.net/_Demo/Fancy/Dynamic_Text.html
         http://www.wyodor.net/_Demo/html5/BlowUp.html
         http://www.wyodor.net/mfi/Maaskant/How_To.html
         http://www.wyodor.net/mfi/cultureclub/Movies.html
         http://www.wyodor.net/mfi/roodhout/How_To_Do.html
You may have to learn HTML, CSS, JavaScript, AJAX, DOM and how iWeb creates its pages. Especially that.

  • Example of using session bean with webservices

    Hello,
I am working with netbeans 5.5 (with JAX-WS 2.0 library) and using Tomcat.
I have created webservices and everything is working well so far. However, each webservice is making a connection to my database.
I would like to use a session bean so that I make the connection only once (at the begining of the client session for example) and store it into my session bean.
I am a newbie in those things, I search on the Web and on this forum some code examples. The only thing I have found is this article http://weblogs.java.net/blog/ramapulavarthi/archive/2006/06/maintaining_ses.html
When I tried this, the session doesn't seem to work at all : I get the same result (counter=1) twice.
Does anybody have a complete example of how to use a session with webservices please?
    Thanks a lot!

Sorry, I was not very clear in my last message.
I need all my webservices to share the same bean during one user session.
Then, if a page calls 2 different web services, only 1 database connection is made instead of 2. And if the user opens other pages which call other webservices, they will use the connection kept into the session bean.
Anyway, I tried to do like it is said in your website but I can not build my project. I have an error : java.lang.LinkageError: JAXB 2.0 API is being loaded from the bootstrap classloader, but this RI (from jar:file:/C:/.../build/web/WEB-INF/lib/jaxb-impl.jar!/com/sun/xml/bind/v2/model/impl/ModelBuilder.class) needs 2.1 API. Use the endorsed directory mechanism to place jaxb-api.jar in the bootstrap classloader. I do not understand because I have downloaded the jax-ws 2.1.1 api and no other libraries are imported in my project. :-(
I wonder if it is not related to netbeans...

  • Using two domains with iWeb

I use a domain from GoDaddy.com to post my iWeb pages but I produced a new iWeb site that I want to post to another domain (one which I've already purchased at GoDaddy). It appears though that mobile me only allows one domain.
Question: How can I post iWeb sites to different domains from a single mobile me account?

As you know, you can only use Cname once - any other sites have to use masking.
Be aware of the downside to this. Masking kills SEO and makes it impossible for your individual pages to bookmarked.
You could get a MobileMe family account but it would be cheaper to get "real" hosting.

  • IE on windows have trouble with iWeb sites

certain parts of my iWeb site do not show up on IE while some HTML snippets do not work on IE.
No problem with Macs. Any idea why that is and how it can be fixed?

See this Apple doc: _iWeb: Issues publishing to MobileMe_ ...which says:
"Your website may also seem to be missing content if you view it on a Windows-based computer."

  • Sharepoint Cross-Site Content Rollup using Sharepoint Designer with Different Sites deployed in different ports

    Hi
In Sharepoint Designer Cross Site Content Rollup is achieved using SOAP service in different site collections in Same domain (Same Port where site is deployed). Please provide the information that different sites in different
    ports.
For Eg: Site A in one port (1000) and Site B in Another Port(2000). I want to access it from site A SP List in Site B using Sharepoint designer.

    HI Krupesh,
You can call the web service or REST API to update the item in List B and List C in workflow.
Below mentioned links help in calling web service activity in workflow:
