Exams Validity

Hi,
I want to know the validity of the exams?
I cleared SQL 1Z0-007 in Jan 2007. now in Aug 2008 i cleared PL/SQL Z10-147. there was a time gap of one and a half years between the two exams.
Is the first exam still valid? Am i an OCA now or do i have to clear the first exam again?
Thanks in advance
Preethi

If you have passed 1z0-007 at any time then passing 1z0-147 will generate an OCA (PL/SQL Developer).
On rare occasions the rules change, but there is usually warning of this.
See the forum FAQ/Fblog, subscribe to the certifcation e-magazine and keep an eye on your certifaction on [http://www.oracle.com/education/certification] (eg view all certifications).

One of my friend cleared Oracle 9i SQL paper in November 2005 and now wants to take PLSQL paper.
Will the SQL exam cleared in 2005 be valid still ?
Are there any timeliness within which we have to clear the papers ? to get OCA

Oracle can change the rules; but basically they (currently) work on the basis a certification once held is held for ever, and an exam pass once pass is held forever.
If your friend cleared 1z0-007 then that is a valid component towards a PL/SQL developer OCA : Reference : [http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=155]
If your friend clear 1z0-001 then it still remains a valid component towards PL/SQL developer OCA, as referenced here: [http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=206&p_org_id=18&lang=TR]

  • Sharepoint 2010 - Exam 70-573,Exam 70-667 scores are valid after Jan 2014?

I am planning to do the SharePoint 2010 certification ,  and found that it is getting retired on Jan31 2014. In this case will my certification be valid after this date?
    http://www.microsoft.com/learning/en/us/mcts-certification.aspx#fbid=zoBob0JUBmX

    Hi,
The certification will still be valid for SharePoint 2010 but the newest certification is based on SharePoint 2013:
    http://www.microsoft.com/learning/en/us/mcse-sharepoint-certification.aspx#fbid=nTemxTEp9eN
The MCSE: SharePoint 2013 certification includes the three exams needed for MCSA: Server 2012 so to get the latest certification you can achieve MCSA: Server 2012 first and then pass the two additional sharepoint 2012 exams.
The new certification model is no longer based on achieving a product certification by passing one exam (this was the case with the MCTS exams)
The SharePoint 20120 MCTS certification will remain on your transcript after Jan 31 2014 but at some point most company's will move on to SharePoint 2013 the coming years and then the newer certification will have more value.

  • 1Z0-850 exam still valid?

I'm studying for exams 1Z0-803 & 1Z0-804, but is still valid to 1z0-850 certification?

1z0-850 is an exam not a certification. ( you could say you meant the certification associated with 1z0-850 ... ( Java 5 SE OCA ) ).
Without going into more complexity than I have time for ... probably best to continue with your Java 7 SE OCA/OCP.
If you follow through the certification and exam links at at http://certification.oracle.com who should be able to see more .... but be aware the Java 7 SE OCA/OCP is more to oracle standard than the Java 5/6 SE ( I think I read you could go direct to OCP on those in one exam ..... but I'd have to double check and I dont have time).
Edited by: bigdelboy on 26-Mar-2013 21:09 The1z0-850 exam and associated certification is not currently marked for retirement as far as I know; that situation could change soon for all I know.

  • Is my exam still valid as a pre-requisite?

I completed: '1Z0-001 Introduction to Oracle: SQL and PL/SQL' all the way back in 2001...over 7 years ago.
Does this exam that I took in 2001 still qualify as the 1st of 2 exams that I must take in order to earn my OCA (Database 11g Adiminstrator Certified Associate)???
Although it does state that 1Z0-001 does qualify for the 1st exam, does the fact that I took over 7 years ago make a difference? Meaning, can I just take the Oracle Database 11g: Administration I (1Z0-052) exam in order to get my OCA (Database 11g Adiminstrator Certified Associate)?

    Hi,
I am in the same situation, but I had found recently (June 2009) that in the certification path the exam 1z0-001 has disapeared from the graphic
    http://education.oracle.com/pls/web_prod-plq-dad/db_pages.getpage?page_id=198&p_org_id=&lang=
it seems to be only valid the exam 1z0-007. Please confirm.

  • Will the expiring CCNP route exam still be valid with the newer Troubleshoot and switch 2.0 exams?

    Hi everyone,
I plan on taking my CCNP (route) exam within the next month but I just notice that the exam will only be valid until Jan of 2015. Now my question is that if I take the exam older exam will it still be valid to combine the newer  "Trouble shoot 2.0" and "Switch 2.0"? I would like to take the current route test instead of the newer version becaue I've been studying it but I like to know if it will be uselss or not when combining the other to make myself an official CCNP certification holder.

    I have found on search:
    Q. Can I mix the current exams with newer exams to achieve CCNP Routing and Switching?
    A. Yes, it is possible to mix version 1 and version 2 exams, but if you completed version 1 exams for ROUTE or SWITCH, then you will need to prepare version 2 ROUTE & SWITCH as well in order to pass the TSHOOT v2 exam because the TSHOOT v2 exam assumes knowledge of ROUTE v2 and SWITCH v2 topics.
The answer is unclear, yes you can mix, but you will have to prepare for version 2. I hope it's wrong information.

I agree with Justin's answer; and it is highly unlikly the PL/SQL OCA exam track will retire.
....... That said the 1z0-147 may will be retired by the point; though 1z0-144 is an alternative. My personal feeling is 1z0-147 should have been retired months ago ... we should be encouraging studnet to use recent PL/SQL and techniques; not things dating almost before the year 2000.
It is worth signing up the Oracle Certification Magazone and watching for exma retirements, there is usually 3 mnoth notices. You may also risk a manadatory training requirement being introduced for PL/SQL OCP. I am not saying there will be, I am saying there migh be, and equally well there might not.

  • How to get the rating of my MCP Exam in 2005

Hello Im Maria Teresa, I took may MCP exam last June 2005 and was certified. But when I received the package, the rating of my exam was not being sent. I only received pin, MCP Id and certificate signed by Bill gates. I tried to register here in Microsoft
but microsoft response is that my MCP ID is not valid. and it also states to get the transcript you must provide the MC ID. I don't have MC ID because the ID that was given to me is MCP ID. How can I be able to have a copy of my rating. I really need this
for the validation of my being certified as MCP that is required for my Promotion in my work. Thank you and I hope for your immediate response.

    Hello,
The MC ID number is the same as the MCP ID. They changed the name a few years ago, but the number is still the same.
In order to register at the MCP site, you need a code that should have been sent to you by email back at the time when you passed your exam. If you have lost it, you should call the Regional Service Center (RSC) and explain the problem. They should be able
to fix it for you. The links to the RSC in various parts of the world can be found at the bottom of the main Learning and Certification page (http://www.microsoft.com/learning).
Once you are able to log-in to the MCP site, there are links there for downloading your Transcript and also your certificate if you need an electronic copy.
However, you will not be able to download a copy of your exam score sheet. This is only provided to you at the end of your exam, but it is not stored at the MCP website. Only the fact that you are certified is saved, but not the precise marks that you
got in your exam. Various posts in the past have explained why the precise figure is irrelevant and why it should
not be used to accredit your level of knowledge; instead, you should present your certificate and/or your transcript to accredit that you are certified.

  • FIREWALL and VPN exams

    642-617 and 642-647
The last day to take these tests is May 28th.
If I pass them both, how long will they count as credit towards the CCNP Security?
I have vouchers for both, and I'll take the exams, but I feel like I should take the new exams as well.
    Thanks,
    Chris

They will be like any other exam, three years valid towards any eligible path.

Well, putting it politely, you should defer the certification for a while as I don't think it's going to help you much at the moment.
For the difference between 11g and 12c, read this book.
    Contents
If you want to choose a career path of DBA, what you need to do is to understand the oracle database. 12c is a very recent release and just 2 days ago, in a group of about 600 people at a conference, not a single one mentioned that they are having it in their production systems. That is to be expected too as testing and validations of the new releases take time. 11g, on the other hand is available from a long time. So if it is me, I would start from 11g. For improving your skills, download oracle databas from http://otn.oracle.com and install it and play with it.
Study material is only available for those who pay and attend the courses from either Oracle University or from approved partners. Sharing of it is strictly not allowed. Buy a market exam preparation guide if you are not willing to attend a course yet but just so you know, to earn OCP, you would need to attend one course at least from either OU or from its partner.
    Aman....

thanksA big clue is that Oracle have not annouced it's retirement yet and therefore you have at least 3 months minimum (unless there are extra-ordinary circumstances which is most unlikely).
    See {thread:id=910656}
In particular on that thread there's details of how to subscribe to the Oracle Certification E-Magazine where retirements will be annouced.
As for the actual retirement date, that is up to Oracle.
However as far as I am aware from one reference 9i runs into indefinite Sustaining Support as of August 1, 2010; and the exam retirement may have some indirect linkages to that date, though it is pure speculation on my part. 9i is no longer available for download from OTN, so the end may be relative soon.
Against that it is as far as I aware 9i is still used by the WDP program.
I personally think it would be a good idea for oracle to withdraw the 9i DBA OCA exams before the 9i DBA OCP to avoid people getting stuck half way through the program. Or perhaps to give an early annoucement of retirement date for this particular programme. The retirement may also affect people who have spent money on hands on courses.
So I suppose if you wish to base your certifications on out of date products and dont get through the certifications promptly and lose out then that is isn't what would be expected of an OCA or OCP. (I am not talking about you here as you obviously seem to be progressing through the 9i exams and I can well imagine someone not being able to put effort into studying for one at particular points in time as you have work or family or sport or holiday or domestic or partying or romancing things may need to be done .... but it obviously remains sensible to keep an eye on things so you dont miss the boat with retired exams). There is a valid point in this but this paragraph does not say the thing I want to say in the way I want to say it.
    Personally I'm at least :
    99.5% certain you would be able to take your exam in March 2010;
    90% certain you would be able to take your exam in June 2010;
90% certain you will NOT be able to take your exam in 2012
99% certain you will NOT be able to take your exam in 2013
(If any of the above reads stupidly please accept my apologies ... it has good points but i am now a little too tired to check it for whooopsies).

  • Retirement of 1z0-007 1z0-147 1z0-031 1z0-032 1z0-033 exams .....

    The retirement of 1z0-007 1z0-147 1z0-031 1z0-032 1z0-033 must surely be imminent .
I think WDP should have stopped teaching them a while ago.
For 1z0-007 and 1z0-147 suitable and IMHO better alternatives exist in 1z0-051 and 1z0-144. People are not exposed to best practice studying for those older exams.
IMHO There is no real reason why 1z0-007 and 1z0-147 could not be set for retirement immediately ... (ie in 3 months time) and any candidates studying should find litle gap in studying for the alternatives.
1z0-031 for 9i DBA OCA and then 1z0-032 + 1z0-033 for 9i DBA OCP it is a different matter .... essentially because of the number of exams in the track and the fact mandatory training is required to complete the track. And from once all those exams are withdrawn any undertaken will not be valid for a later Oracle Database version, 10g or 11g or 12c ( and it would set an (IMHO bad) precedent for earlier version training to be allowed for a later version).
In some ways those trained on these should already have had sufficient time to certify ... and in many ways a majority (but perhaps not all) of those caught out perhaps deserve little sympathy .... But anyone caught out after having passed 1z0-007 + 1z0-031 + 1z0-032 but not 1z0-033 would feel aggrieved by having to do more training plus take 1z0-0[45]2 and 1z0-0[45]3 to get DBA OCP.
And retiring 1z0-031; 1z0-032; and 1z0-033 simultaneously with 3 months notice could leave people stuck on track and this could be branded as 'unfair'. (And I assume these exams will need to be retired when Database 12c finally goes production).
Can I therefore suggest the following may allow people avoid people getting stuck on track:
    0) Retirement of 1z0-007 and 1z0-147 immediately (well 3 months notice) .... this gives the word out to candidates of this era that the exams of this era are being removed.
    1) An effective 6 month notice of retirement of 1z0-032 and 1z0-033:
    This could be achieved by:
1a) A 6 month (or even end of year) simulaneous announcement of retirement of 1z0-031/2/3.
1b) A three month notification of retirement of 1z0-031 ... this would stop people entering the 9i DBA OCP exam track ... but not retiring 1z0-032 and 1z0-033 for at least a further 3 months after that date.
Thinking as I write this an annoucement to retire:
    1z0-007, 1z0-147, 1z0-031 on 31st may 2013 then 1z0-032,1z0-033 at the end of october/november/december 2013 would be perhaps helpful.
This is prompted by {thread:id=2492717} indicating there are still people midway through the 9i DBA OCP track who may be caught by its retirement. One may argue they if they wish to be OCP
Readers should note I am nore authorative on these matters, and the certification team are unlikely to announce a retirement before it happens, so I would not expect them to be able to comment on this until an annoucement for retirement is actually made (apart from we review exams for retirement regularly), but I do feel they listen to such comments and take them into account.

As {thread:id=2511529} a retirement announcement has been made at https://blogs.oracle.com/certification/entry/0864_01
Some people have already commnets on how 1z0-147 and 1z0-141 are affected, though as 1z0-144 and 1z0-151 are available with a high topic correlation there really isn't too big a deal on these.
The retirement of the 10g OAS exams probably essentially now has little impact as this is an end of life production replacing with weblogic.
The big impact could be a number of people on the 9i DBA OCP certification who will find their existing training invalidated unless they complete 9i DBA OCP before requirement; and if they fail to do that they will need to pay more to retrain to complete DBA OCP. I am expecting some squeals in this area from people who have dallied ... though arguably in most (but not all cases) there may be little reason to be overly sympathetic with their dalliance. This thread post, and others I have made previously, was a warning.

    Hello,
In comming days I'm going to try above Solaris 10 exam. Have some questions regarding form of exam (I couldn't find it on Oracle website):

    2. Is it possible to switch questions during exam and get back later to ones which I'm not sure?

In the days of the Sun when even an ultrasparc 2 could run solaris 10 and some brainless clot still allowed access to the obp updates there were exams cx-310-201 and cx-310-202.
In fact yours truly got 100% for his "manage network printers and systems processes" despite in practice my setup for printers in Glasgow coming out in Galashields.  In some ways I was quite good at printers.
Then around the exam had a update for S10u5 when the old ZFS and zones etc started to get really going.
( I completed the cx-310-202 under that update).
Refering to Calkins ISBN-13: 978-0-7897-3790-8 for the section he considers as "Managing System processes" there is no mention of printers.
HOWEVER there was a whole section on managing the lp printer service in that book in the very next chapter!
But we are talking history here .... and the exam may have been through further updates ... indeed the current exam is validated against s10u11 (which is about 2/3 years old I would guess without looking it up).
So printing may well have been dropped.  Any other topics may have had to be tweaked.
It's obviously best you know about printing ..... but quite frankly its somewhat rate nowadays.  It can also be a but of a minefield as its been through changes with the releases.  It's quite possible it's dropped from the exam altogether.
    You have 2 reasonable choices:-
    - Study all you can about printers at s10u11.  (Go over what the online documentation says for s10u11).  I'm sure some of this stuff changed throughout the life of Solaris 10.  It shouldn't be more than one or two questions so don't spend too much time on it.
    - Raise an SR at  Oracle University - Support Form   ... Question the discrepancy on the title versus the underlying topics.  ( .. there isn't a category for this .... exam results/score report might be best) questioning the discrepancy in the topics.  Put the SR number back on this thread as if Brandye is happening to pass she might pick it up).
... I can't be sure of anything I have said here.  I may end up confusing rather than helping over Matthew's earlier reply.

You would make this a little easier if you posted a link to the page.
Most of the jump seems to be some extra padding or margin between the tabs  when you rollover, but I am not able to find it.  Is there any other css that is governing this page? I did remove a couple of <p></p> set of tags you had  and it improved the jump, but it is still there.
If the page is live, run it through the validator http://validator.w3.org/ , fix whatever errors it finds, if you still have the jump, post a link to the page and the issue might get found.
