EXC13 cu7, Lync 2013 last updates OWA integration error

Hello,
we have 3 cas and 3 mbx exc13 cu7 environment
when a user from a specified database tries to log on OWA IM through OWA he can't
if we move mount the database to another mbx server it works fine
all users (where their databases are mounted at mbx2) are getting this error
I used this article
http://blogs.technet.com/b/jenstr/archive/2012/10/31/troubleshooting-tips-for-exchange-2013-owa-im-integration-to-lync-2013.aspx
 and we got nothing new
always the same error on IM logging at mbx \ v15\logging\owa\ logs

Hi,
Please confirm if there is an event 103 on the Exchange Even Viewer when the user logs in OWA IM. If there is the event, please provide the detailed event log here for further analysis.
Please run the following command to check the certificate information in your Exchange server:
Get-ExchangeCertificate | fl
We need to collect the certificate thumbprint which is added in OWA web.config file and compare it with Exchange certificate results.
Generally, the certificate which is added in OWA web.config file on the MBX server(s) should be trusted by both Lync Server and Exchange. It is generally created by using your internal certificate authority on the mailbox server, making sure
that the server FQDN is used for the subject name and that this FQDN appears in the certificate alternate name field.
If it is not match, please create a new certificate from your
internal certificate authority on the mailbox server. Then add the certificate thumbprint in the right section of the OWA web.config file (<appSettings>), restart IIS service and check whether the issue persists.

  • Lync 2013\Exchange 2010 OWA Integration Problem

    Hi there,
    I've got a vexing issue that I haven't had much luck in researching.  I am running Lync 2013 on Server 2008 R2 and Exchange 2010 SP3 on Server 2008 R2.  I followed Jeff Schertz's instructions (http://blog.schertz.name/2010/11/lync-and-exchange-im-integration/)
and Lync\OWA integration is working--sort of.
We currently have a central pool (we'll call it lyncpool.contoso.com) and three pools housed on SBAs-- lyncsba-loc1, lyncsba-loc2,lyncsba-loc3.  Users in our main location are housed on the central pool, whereas users in our remote locations are housed
    on their respective SBA.
Following the instructions, I pointed my OWA virtual directories at lyncpool.contoso.com, and everything seemed fine at first. I could see presence in OWA, initiate an instant message...the works.  However, when I asked a user homed on one of the SBAs,
he said that he could only see presence for other users in his pool\location. Everyone else had a white "unknown" presence chiclet. To verify, I temporarily moved my lync account to that branch pool, and sure enough--I saw the same thing.  As
a troubleshooting measure, I re-ran the OWA configuration portion and instead of using the central pool as the instantmessagingserver value, I pointed it directly at that branch pool.  At that point, he and I, being homed in that branch pool, could see
presence for EVERYONE.  Problem solved, right?  Well, no...because now, the central pool users could only see presence for other central pool users, and the other branches could still only see presence for their poolmates.
I've run Wireshark, CLS logging, you name it--I haven't seen anything fishy, and I'm starting to wonder if this perhaps a bug or an unsupported use-case(I hope not, since Microsoft otherwise endorses such a configuration).  I've been beating my head
against this wall for almost two weeks with no change...someone, help! :)

This is the only thing that seems of interest in the CLS Log:

The "source" here is our OWA server.  I have issued a certificate from our local CA(the same one that issued the Lync certs), making sure the CN of the certificate matches the OWA url.  Any ideas?

  • Lync 2013 Cumulative updates with coexistence 2010

    Hello
I am pretty new lync admin, i have successfully done a coexistence with 2010 and 2013
I just need clarification on the steps for a 2013 standard edition cu updates.
From the site http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2809243  I am seeing that I need to
    1) run LyncServerUpdateInstaller.exe
    2)run Install-CsDatabase -ConfiguredDatabases -SqlServerFqdn SE.FQDN -Verbose
    3) Do not run Install-CsDatabase -CentralManagementDatabase until after full 2013 migration
    4) Enable the Mobility service, run the following cmdlet:
    Enable-CsTopology
    5) Run %ProgramFiles%\Microsoft Lync Server 2013\Deployment\Bootstrapper.exe
Just need those steps confirmed and..
    1) Just to confirm that I dont need to worry about output of Get-CsPoolUpgradeReadinessState command
    2) We dont have Mobility service, do I still need to run Enable-CsTopolgy for Standard edition?
    Thanks !

    Thank Iain
Just to confirm it is lync 2013 CU updates I am trying to perform on standard pool
    When i run the CsPoolUpgradeReadinessState
I get State:insufficientActiveFrontEnds and IsReadForUpgrade True
According to the update notes, they only speak of running cspoolupgradereadiness on Enterprise edition pool.
So i just wanted to know if the output of cspoolupgradereadinessState can be ignored or concerned about for the updates.

  • No Numbers after March Lync 2013 Client update

    Hi,
We have problems with the EWS sync after applying the March Lync 2013 client update. All contacts are synced from the users private contacts folder but no numbers are shown. After removing the update it is working fine again. We are not using UCS as
we are still on Exchange 2010.
    Any ideas?
    Kristian

I didn’t have this problem when I installed the update.
Did you download the update from

Facing error on all users profile as i have two SMTP address @domainX.com.pk and @domainY.com.pk and i have change default smtp but error still same.
Apart from this when i check my outlook conversion folder is up to date and updated.

    Hi,
If you change the SMTP account same with SIP account, please try to delete Lync user profile and restart Lync, Outlook client to test again.
If you want to use different SMTP account with Lync account, you can also try to change Lync client policy, change the parameter DisableEmailComparisionCheck to True.

  • Lync 2013 Cumulative Update and Lync 2010 CM database ??

I was going through the update process for our new Lync 2013 Enterprise install,  I just have a FE server up at this point.  I ran the LyncServerUpdateInstaller and it ran fine.  I then ran through the Backend SQL updates, and of course I
get to the end and read...
Note In a coexistence environment that contains both Lync Server 2010 and Lync Server 2013 in which the Central Management Service is located on a Lync Server 2010 pool, do not run the
Install-CsDatabase -CentralManagementDatabase cmdlet. If you later move the Central Management Service to a Lync Server 2013 pool, you have to run the
Install-CsDatabase -CentralManagementDatabase cmdlet to apply the changes.
And yes we have a Lync 2010 Standard server running and the CM DB is on the Lync 2010 pool.   I haven't noticed any problems yet, Do I need to be concerned about this?  And if so how do I fix it?  I only have a test account on the Lync
2013 server at this point.  So I could uninstall if needed.
    Thanks,
    Matt

    Hi,
As I know, it better to move the Central Management Store from Lync server 2013 database back to Lync server 2010 database firstly. Then if needed, you can uninstall the Lync server 2013 database.
You can refer to the link below:

  • Lync 2013 Schema update risk

    hi guys,
I'm new with Lync 2013 and this is my first time to implement it and it will be connected to our AD 2008 R2. can you tell me on possible risk factors that we may encounter during the process so we can prepare for it?
    thanks,
    Khraieys

For supplementary, if you deploy Lync Server in a forest or domain where DC run 32-bit versions of some operating systems, you cannot use the Lync Server Deployment Wizard to run schema, forest, and domain preparation in these environments because the Deployment
Wizard and supporting files are 64-bit only. Instead, you can use ldifde.exe and the associated .ldf files on a 32-bit domain controller to prepare the schema, forest and domain.

  • EXCHANGE 2013 - ECP AND OWA INTERNAL ERROR 500 - NEW INSTALL

Really hoping someone can help me here.
I first installed 2012 OS and 2013 exchange and users were getting 'Unable to open your default folder' when trying to open outlook. After much googling and nothing working I decided to put 2008 R2 on the server with 2013 Exchange. Now i am running into massive
    issues.
Firstly i get Internal Errror 500 after putting in credentials for ECP and OWA. I did notice that it is also defaulting straight to this URL after entering password https://localhost/owa/auth.owa
I check the management shell and that connects without any issues. I also logged on to a computer to see what it did. After autodiscover it is not able to log onto server and then it looks like it is look for the old server information from previous server.
Any help would be appreciated. Can i do another reinstall of OS and how am i meant to remove the previous data that it seems the server has found?

    Hi,
According to your description, I understand that cannot login internal ECP\OWA with error 500, also autodiscover failed.
If I misunderstand your concern, please do not hesitate to let me know.
I notice that autodiscover “looks like it is look for the old server information from previous server”, have you installed multiple version Exchange in your environment?
Please run below command to double check the virtual directory configuration:
    Get-OutlookAnywhere | FL Identity,*Host*,*Auth*
    Get-OwaVirtualDirectory | FL Identity,*url*,*auth*
    Get-EcpVirtualDirectory | FL Identity,*url*,*auth*
    Get-WebServicesVirtualDirectory | FL Identity,*url*,*auth*
    Get-ClientAccessServer | FL Identity,*URI*,*auth*
Then, open IIS and check on the Application Pools to view whether MSExchangeOWAAppPool and MSExchangeECPAppPool is running on .NET Framework v4.0, and recycle virtual directory for test.
Additional, here’s a thread about “Removing Old Exchange and installing a new one”, for your reference:

  • Lync 2013 with outlook 2010 meeting error

I have installed lync basic 2013 with outlook 2010. The meeting add in is in place, but I get an error when trying to set up a Lync meeting "unable to identify the calendar owner"
What to do to correct this?

    Hi,
You seem to get the error “Unable to identify the calendar owner. Please contact your support team.”
This is caused if the Online Meeting Add-in for Lync 2010 cannot determine the Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) or Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) address of your Microsoft Outlook account. You need to contact your Exchange administrator.
If you mail server does not support online meeting(such as a pop3 server), you can join the meeting as anonymous user through the meeting URL.
You can also create a new profile to check the result:

  • Lync 2013 & Skype Integration 3rd Party Cert. Requirement

    hi to all
I am a liitle bit confused about the Trusted Certificate (public certificate) need for the Lync 2013 server and Skype integration.
Our problem is trying to Integrate Skype with our Lync 2013. We configured Lync Edge and Lync Backendserver  with internal Certification Authority Certifcates ,we finished provisioning Lync 2013 with Skype according to the  "http://www.microsoft.ctom/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=39071"
document and we received answer from Microsoft that we ıntegration  is finished.
But we could not make any call or add contacts either from Skype no Lync client.
Some  forums say that we had to integrate Trusted Certificates to our Lync Edge server  (http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/lync/en-US/ec3142cb-179a-427d-909c-135052621043/how-to-deploy-the-federation-with-skype?forum=ocsmobility)
But I could not see in official documents. Can someone lead me the correct way to do this ?
    Thanks

You will need to change the external Edge certificate to a public issued UC/SAN certificate. Without a public cert the remote party (in this case the MSN/Skype servers) won't be able to establish trust and will fail.
You can do this by re-running the Lync Deployment Tool & Request/Assign Certificates
    Here is a walk through:
    http://www.digicert.com/csr-creation-lync-2013.htm
    http://www.digicert.com/ssl-certificate-installation-lync-2013.htm
Because you are replacing, you will need to restart your Edge services afterwards for it to take effect  (You can use Lync Management Shell and run Stop-CsWindowsService & Start-CsWindowsService)

  • Lync Contacts not appearing in Lync 2010 after user is moved to Lync 2013

    Good Morning,
Our company recently migrated all of our users to Lync 2013 from Lync 2010.   Most of our clients are still running the Lync 2010 client on their workstations.  There is an ongoing project where we are upgrading to Office 2013 as well.
When a user signs into Lync, clicks on their contacts, the list is blank. They see their frequent contacts and are able to search for people.   Some people are able to manage their contacts through OWA 2013 since we have the integration in
place. If they try to add contacts in Lync, they receive the message:
Cannot Add, Remove or move contacts or groups at this time. Please try again later.
I have tried going into the %appdata%\Microsoft\communicator directory and deleting the .cache and .idx and opening Lync again and still they do not appear.
Found this article:  https://support.microsoft.com/kb/2757458?wa=wsignin1.0, but we cannot role people back to Lync 2010.  So they will just have to live with it until they receive Lync 2013 and  use OWA 2013 to manage them until their office
    client is upgraded.

    Hi BrianDougherty,
I’m not sure whether this is caused by UCS, but you can test it by disabling UCS for a test user.
Run the following command and then check the result.
    New-CsUserServicesPolicy -Identity NoUCS -UcsAllowed $False
Grant-CsUserServicesPolicy –Identity “test user” –PolicyName NoUCS
    Invoke-CsUcsRollback –Identity “test user”
    Best regards,
    Eric

  • How to get rid of thumbnails in conversations in Lync 2013

After the last update Lync 2013 shows thumbnails next to every IM in the conversation window. Is there a way to get rid of these? I couldn't find anything in the options. It takes up a lot of space and is completely useless for me, as admin has disabled
showing pictures in Lync anyway, so the thumbnails only show the gray-white default picture.

As far as I know, the short answer is no after the CU3 Lync 2013 client update is applied.

  • Lync 2013 On Premises to Lync Online, one way presence and IM

I am attempting to federate my on premise domain with a domain hosted on Office 365.
At the moment, the O365 users can add and see presence of the on-premise users, and can send IM messages as well. But not vice versa.

    So far I've verified:
    1. The domain has been added to both sides allowed domains sections and the LyncOnline has been enabled in SIP federated providers
    2. The on prem Edge server can resolve the 0365 Edge address
    3. The external certificate is from a trusted source, with all SAN's configured.
    4. All correct ports are open on the firewall inbound, and I can access sipfed.online.lync.com 5061 from the Edge server via telnet
    5. The remote connectivity analyser connects with no errors to my edge server on prem
    6. External users can connect to Lync On Prem
    7. Exchange Online interoperability is working. I.e I can set my presence via OWA, and the Lync 2013 client updates instantly
Could there be anything I have missed? Before deploying this Lync on prem, I had a complete test lab environment working and Federation was working without issue.
    Any help greatly appreciated.

Edge server configuration is the most likely cause
what happens if repeat the test for Remote onprem user does this work?
What is access edge port set to on the edge server?

We are having this on a few lync clients.  The crashes are at random, a few times per day.  Generally happens when the client is idle.  Windows 7 systems, with the latest version of the client. (15.0.4517.1504)Any ideas?

    Hi Everett.Chris,
Did you solve the issue with the suggestion Waqas105 provided?
Did you install Bluetooth on your computer? If yes, please remove it and test the issue again.
Please also make sure you remove all instances of the Lync 2013 Security Update KB2817465.
If the issue persists, please past the entire log or message when Lync client crashes so that we know which file cause the issue.
    Best Regards,
