Excel 2007 ribbon freezes when opening (double clicking) a file from a network share

So unlike other post I have found when double clicking an excel file from a network share the ribbon is frozen. If I start excel from the start menu then open the file through recent documents browse to the file from within excel the ribbon is active.
Also, the preview pane is not active so it is not that issue.

Hello-  I am having the same issue with a client in my office.  Minimizing then bringing it back up fixes the problem but it is still a hassle.  Have you found out anything else?  Thanks - Erik

Photoshop and InDesign files open fine, it's just Illustrator.
The document “xyz.ai” could not be opened. Illustrator cannot open files in the “Adobe Illustrator Document” format.
The document “xyz.eps” could not be opened. Illustrator cannot open files in the “EPS File” format.

    th1nk,
I believe the right order/way is to update the OS, then reinstall the applications. Was that how you did it?

  • 4.0.1 crashes now when you double click a file to edit in source monitor

If I double click a file to watch it in Media Browser or in the project window premiere crashes. In fact the only way I can open a source window to set in and out points is if the clip is in the timeline.
This makes editing with premiere almost unusable. It tried it with a few different file types. At least I have AAF so I can take my projects back into CS3 till this gets fixed.

My Vista 64 premiere install is all messed up. Adobe Media Encoder completely freezes. Probably OE but it was working fine yesterday. The only thing installed on my Vista 64 is Adobe CS4 and only editing related drivers are installed.
My Vista 32 (on a seperate disk) is working fine with Premiere but Adobe Media Encoder doesn't want update.
All messed up here. At least it's Friday.

when i installed reader xi, that worked well.
after some hours pass,  double click pdf file and nothing happen.(only can see adobe reader on window task manager list)
i reinstalled reader several times and deleted program files(x86)/adobe folder too.
then worked well only some hours and not works again
    can you help me plz?

    Hi,
You have to remove the back hand file which was present in the Local Disk C >> Program Data >> Acrobat, if you remove this file. It will remove the SSH (Software System History) from the PC. Then you can efficiently reinstall the Adobe Acrobat XI

  • Slow access when opening XLS or DOC files over the network but XLSX and DOCX files are fast

I am working with a small office that has 3 Windows 7 Pro PC's.  Two of these PC's have shared folders that hold Word and Excel files and all 3 of the PC's have drives mapped to these shared folders.  When browsing these mapped drive in Windows
Explorer  and double-clicking a file 1 of the computers takes about 30-50 seconds to open any file with a .doc or .xls extension.  It opens .docx and .xlsx files in a couple seconds though, it also open PDF files very quickly.  The other 2 PC's
have no trouble any any type of file.  I have tried many things over the last couple weeks to get this fixed.  I have added the file locations as 'trusted locations' in the Trust Center and added a couple Registry tweaks to the SMB/ lanman workstation
and server. 2 PC's are running Office Pro 2010 SP2 and the other is Office Pro 2013, the one having the slow access is running Office 2010.  Has anyone come across this problem and have any advice??

    Try:
    Open My Computer.
Open the Tools menu and choose Folder Options...
    Select the File Types tab.
Select the extension (for example DOC, or XLS) of the file that is slow to open.
In the Details section, click [Advanced], and another dialog box will open.
In the Actions section, click Open then click [Edit...], and another dialog box will open.

  • IPhone 6 freezing when I double click home button.

It seems almost every time I double click the home button to bring up the multitasking window, my iPhone 6 freezes. I have iOS 8.1.2 and ATT. I have tried restoring from iTunes and from iCloud with no luck. Is anyone else experiencing this issue?

    Hello pspnick,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like your phone keeps freezing, even after restoring. You might want to take a look at this page for further options.

  • Exporter plug-in doesn't run when open by clicking .prproj file

    Hi everyone!
I am creating an exporter plug-in. It works fine when I open Premiere, open a project and choose to export using my plug-in. But when i open a project directly by double clicking the project file (like untitled.prproj), my plug-in always show up a "Error compiling movie" message.
I use log4cxx to help track the plug-in, but no log was created, so my guess is that the plug-in has not even been loaded.
Could anyone tell be the differences between starting Premiere -> open a project and open a project directly by double clicking its .prproj file. In both case, which file is loaded and which file is not?
I'm very appreciated if anyone would have the same problem and tell me how to fix this. I'm really stuck here

    The version is CS5.5.
    And my steps are:
    1. open the project by double clicking the .prproj file
    2. select a file in the project
    3. Choose File -> Export -> Media
    4. Select my plug-in in the drop down list and choose Export
    => Error
    But if take these step:
    1. Open Premiere Pro
    2. select a project
    3. select a file in the project
    4. Choose File -> Export -> Media
    5. Select my plug-in in the drop down list and choose Export
    the plug-in run just fine.
So I think that there are something different between opening a project directly and open Premiere and choose a project. Could you verify this for me? Thanks.

  • Flash CS6 opens then freezes when opening old or new file.

I have the Adobe production premium and all other software works except flash. This is driving me crazy because It was working fine about 3 months ago, then all of a sudden it stopped working. It loads up just fine and it gives me the options screen. But when I open a new file or an old one it freezes with no error message. Windows just gives a "This program is not responding and needs to close." I have tried everything to get it to work, from uninstalling/reinstalling to the fontinfo.txt trick from the FAQ. I also updated it as well.
I am using a Windows 7 64 bit HP PC.
If anybody can help please let me know, and if you have any other questions please ask. Thanks
    Chris

Wow, I knew I should've held out on making a post. I ended up getting it working.
Turns out I didn't do the SING component / datastore correctly. Instead of going into the SING folder on the startup disk I was going into the SING folder under the user (me). I didn't catch that at first but going back and re-reading everything I caught it.
    I feel good

  • How Can I Simulate Double-Clicking A File To Open It In The Default App Without Installing Default App?

I have an app written with Visual Studio 2013. The app has code for opening a file using the standard OpenFileDialog and also has code (AutoOpenFile()) for opening a file when a user double-clicks on a file that is handled by the app. I have not yet created
an installer for the app, so I won't be able to test it's AutoOpenFile() code...unless there is a way to simulate the process of auto-opening the double-clicked file without actually installing the app on my PC. Anyone?

Thanks for your reply, Wyck. I already have the necessary code in my app for opening a file when I double-click on it. The problem is that the app is not currently installed on my PC. Until I do install it, is there a way I can test-run that code
by double-clicking on an associated file?
You lost me at: you want to test-run code that is not on your PC.
    O_o
You want to double-click a file, and then...what do you want to have happen?  You want to run...something...that is not on your PC??
The "simulation" is to launch your app from the command line and pass in the name of the file you wanted to simulate a "double-click" of.
Regardless, you cannot get the shell to have a double-click of a file cause your application to launch unless you modify the registry to do so.  (This is tantamount to "install" to me.)
In the spirit of continuing to be helpful, though, I'll assume that this is what you want to do and I'll show you how to get it done with the least amount of tampering with your registry.
Here are minimally invasive registry modifications you need to make to get it to launch a program when you double-click your file.  It's pretty small.
    EXAMPLE ONLY:
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.wyck]
    @="Wyck.Document"
    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Wyck.Document\shell\open\command]
    @="c:\\windows\\system32\\notepad.exe \"%1\""
[You have to save the above with your appropriate modifications to a file with the
.reg extension (e.g.: test.reg) and then you'll have to double-click the test.reg file to "merge" these settings into your registry.]
The example above registers a file extension called .wyck and assigns a completely arbitrary class name to it called
    Wyck.Document.
Then it associates a shell open command with the Wyck.Document class that causes
notepad.exe to be passed the filename of the file you double-clicked (that's what the
%1 does).  You are welcome to replace all the specific names with your own extensions and class names and replace notepad.exe with the path to your (test) executable.
This executable will be launched, but not with a debugger attached.  To facilitate debugging it, you'll want to temporarily add some code to your program to pause when the program launches, possibly by showing a message box right at the very beginning
of your main function that says "attach debugger now" so that you can attach a debugger to the process that was started by the shell, and then dismiss the message box and continue debugging.
When you are done with your testing, you can simply manually delete those two registry keys using
    regedit.

  • Why the Finder doesn't make diefference between CS3 illustrator .eps and CS3 Photoshop .eps when I double click on a file?

The finder used to make difference between Illustrator ans Photoshop .eps files except sometomes when these files came from a Windows PC, but now it doesn't work anymore and all .eps files are considereds as Photoshop .eps files.
How can I revert to original default settings?
    Thanks. :-)

Prior to Snow Leopard, Mac OS actually remembered what app created a file, and used that app when you double-clicked a file.  Now, Snow Leopard goes entirely by the suffix, modified by any particular settings you have made for that file in Get Info.
If you want to recreate the old behavior, there is a third-party package called LaunchCodes that claims to do this.

  • Double-click any file on desktop, calling JAVA PROGRAM

    hi guys,
i'm breakin my head on doin this prog....when we double click a file icon of any file extension, my another
    java program should be called.
    how to do this???

If you are using windows you could probably make a file association (for all extension types) to a batch file that in turn fires off 'java YourClass params_here'
    - but if you (can) do this, won't you screw up your desktop - ie doubleclicking on an .xls or .doc will never fire up Excel or Word, unless you change the file extension associations back to what they were before? This would make your pc kind of strange to use...??!!

  • Double-clicking a file

When I double-click a file it will open the file in CS6 version 13.0.1, but then after a while double-clicking will no longer open jpeg or raw files.  I can open the same files by going to File > Open in the Menu Bar.
When I am simply opening downloaded files from my camera, I can open 200-300 by double-clicking with no problems.  However, at times when I am working on an image, it is not long before I can't open a file by double-clicking.  It will open a blank Photoshop window, but without any Toolbar or Menu Bars.
This happens on a regular basis.  Sometimes, also, Photoshop is slow to Quit, for no apparent reason.
Is anyone aware of this problem?

    Still having this problem.
If I open a jpeg and just change the name, then Save As to a folder, I can then open another jpeg by double-clicking.
However, whenever I open a jpeg and make changes to the image in Photoshop, then Save As to a folder, I can then no longer open a jpeg by double-clicking.  Photoshop will open, but the jpeg will not open.
Since this only happens after making changes to a jpeg in Photoshop, it seems to me the problem is with something in Photoshop, and has nothing to do with my OS.

  • Office files slow when opening from a Network Share

    Hi!
So, we have a client who moved from having regular Office installations to Office 365 for Mid Size business and reinstalled the Office that comes along with Office 365. Ever since we did
that, there is a delay in opening any office files from a network share. Opening up a Word or Excel document takes up a lot longer than it did before. We have another client with the exact same issue who have Office 2013, so I think its mostly something to
do with office 2013. This problem has been going on for a month, and I have tried everything I can. I have gone through most posts on technet and the internets. Tried disabling AV, Office File Validation, added the network share to trusted locations, removed
add-ins. Nothing works! All other files opens up quickly, pdf, jpg. We can open larger jpg or pdf files faster than smaller office documents. This is a significant problem with our clients as they work in recruitment and open up resumes all day from the network
share and it takes forever to open.
Any advice or help is appreciated!
    Thanks!
    Shaneez

  • There was a problem sending the command to the program when opening Microsoft Project 2010 files

When opening MS Project 2010 files from the file and print server, I receive "There was a problem sending the command to the program."  Copy the same file to my local drive and the file opens fine.  This can be repeated by several other
users.  Created a simple project file and once the size hit 1 MB, the error appeared.  The error appears on all files over 1 MB.
I am a domain admin, so it is not a rights issue.  This does not seem to be a network latency issue, the file copies extremely fast.
    Any ideas?

This message appears to be caused by Windows Explorer trying to send old-fashioned DDE messages to the Application.
Since MS Project has no "Ignore DDE messages" setting you might want to go change the compatibility settings for WinProj.EXE (and any shortcut to it) to Windows 7 or greater.  Hopefully then Windows Explorer will stop trying to send DDE messages.
Another possible culprit is older versions of the WinZip explorer extensions - I would disable them as well.
    Good luck,
       James.
