Excel 2013 hangs after sharing document per email

Hello everyone.
We have an issue with Outlook 2013.
If you disable local email caching in Outlook 2013 and you are trying to share a document via email in e.g. Excel (but also Acrobat reader and several other programs) the email gets send, but Excel hangs (not responding).
When you enable the local cache the problem disappears.
This is an issue for us, since we are using ssd's with limited capacity and the cache file can increase untill somewhere between 25 and 30 GB.
Is there a different solution to this issue? And why is this happening in the first place?

Try to test whether the issue will occur to all the computers. If not, then try to repair and disable all the add-ins to check the issue.

In regarding of the issue, it might be caused by some reasons:
Firstly, the Outlook and Excel add-ins might cause this issue, please try to disable them to test first. Similar issue:
Secondly, this issue also might be caused by "Mapi32.dll", please rename Mapi32.dll (found in C:\Windows\system32) to Mapi32.old and then run
FIXMAPI.exe .
Thirdly, check the properties for your outlook shortcut. Under the compatability tab uncheck "run as administrator".
If this issue still exists, please try to collect the app crash dump file to do further troubleshooting:
Enable app crash dump collection by copying following words into notepad, saving it as dump.reg and importing
it:

Excel 2013 hangs while trying to open a file from network share

Hi,
I am having issue opening excel file from a network share. it happens randomly, the file opens and hangs abruptly. Nothing happens after that ( we can only move the cursor), if we click on the excel sheet we get a beep sound. after i kill the excel process
and open it again ,it works fine.
Where did the member use the Excel file? Local disk, SharePoint, File server, or network shared disk?
       Network shared file and sometime locally
Does the issue occur in the special file or every file?
      it happens randomly and the whole excel freezes. i have to kill the excel session.
Which Office version is the file created? Excel 2013 or early? If it is XLS format, please try to convert to XLSX to test.
   Network file server has office 2010 and the user is trying to open it in excel 2013

Yes, they have macros in some files
Does the issue occur recently? If it is, have you installed some programs or update before you encountered it?
       it happened before too.
Do you get some error message when Excel crashed?
Yeah. Attaching the error message from event viewer. We get file corrupt errors and below too.

Since your first image showed that "To see if more information about the problem is available, check the problem history in the Action Center control panel." Please go to this path (Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Action Center\Problem Reports)
to check the detailed information, and you might upload the screenshot or info here.
Then, please try the following methods and check if they are helpful:
1. File --> Options --> Advanced --> uncheck "Ignore other applications that use Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE)"
2. Turn off "Protected View" --> (File –-> Options –-> Trust Center --> Protected View --> Uncheck all options
3. I notice that >>Network file server has office 2010 and the user is trying to open it in excel 2013 <<, it also might be caused by the Microsoft Office File Validation for Office 2010, please try to change setting in server with

Excel 2013 hangs when previewing xls file made by Reporting Server 2008

Hi all.
I have a unusual error in excel 2013. We have a homepage that delivers statics to our users and there you can choose to export the webpage to a xls file via SQL ReportingServer 2008. The thing is when I open this exported file in Excel and hit the print
button, excel crashes. It seems to crash during the preview of the document. If I make a document by hand that has exactly the same format as the exported document, excel will preview and print it.
I have tried to change default printer and printer drivers but no success. Office 2013 is also up to date.
If I save the document from SRSS and try to print it from another computer with Excel 2013 installed, it crashes Excel.
Any suggestions?

Did you use another Excel file to preview or print? Did the Excel crash again?
I recommend we export a different webpage to a XLSX, then we test it again.
I notice that you try to print the document from another compute and also crashed Excel.
Following this, I suppose that there were some underidentified characters in the file.
After that, I suggest we save as the file to PDF to test.

I have tried printing another excelfile without problems. Infact I can make a replica manually of the report and print it without problem. I can't narrow it down to either a RS fault or Excel fault cause the logfiles don't say much. If I export the report
to a PDF it prints fine, but my users will complain about lack of editing :-)
If I save the xls file to xlsx and tries to print it also hangs in print preview.
An interesting thing is when i export the file to PDF/XPS (PDF in this case) it also hangs Excel...
How do I look for underidentified
characters in the file? I don't see anything in the spreadsheet.

Excel 2013 hangs on opening a file on network

Hello,
I have a user that is having problems opening some Excel files(.xlsx) from a specific folder on the network. I can open them fine with Excel 2013 and others can as well, even at the user's location which is off-site from the main building. These files are
about 2.5 to 3.5Mb in size. I could open a 62Kb file on the persons computer but the larger files Excel just sits there with the spinning cursor and the program window 'blinks', kind of like when you make it the active window then click somewhere else then
back. I can go up one level then into a different folder and have no issues opening Excel files there. I've tried opening through Safe Mode but it has the same behavior, performed a repair on Office as well as an Open and Repair on the file, made sure it was
a trusted location and disabled hardware acceleration. Nothing is working. What else can I try to troubleshoot this issue?
On a side note and I'm not sure if this is helpful but when they tried opening the file, I never saw the temp file created like I do when you open any Office document.

I tried both and at first the xlsb file was hanging but I logged off to try other things under my account then logged back on again and it opened though pretty slow. I tried from my account as well and it is very slow but does eventually open. Under the
users account I copied the file to her desktop and it opens with no problem. The permissions are the same on all similar level folders yet the user can open Excel files from them with no problem and even larger than the problem files.
Edit: My mistake, the green progress bar happens on other folders as well. Talking with one of the senior IT who installed the system, this user is the last person of a chain from microwave>switch and fiber link>another switch and fiber link so just
may be a physical issue though from my experience the one folder 'seems' to have the most trouble in opening the Excel files.
Also tried disconnecting the network drive then reclogging to let the scripts recreate it. No luck with that approach either.

PowerPivot Excel 2013 crashes after column rename in source datatabase

Using Windows 8.1, Excel 2013 64Bits, PowerPivot Add-In :
Not using a SQL Server TabularModel just a local Excel Model.
Having 32MB Ram memory.
Readed a table from a SQL Source that contains 13.000.000 records. After loading I discoverd that in the Source one of the columnn names is incorrect. It's name ExecudingProvider and should be ExecutingProvider, so I changed the SQL Server source table and
added the "t" to ExecutingProvider...
Back in PowerPivot I do go to the PowerPivot Data model > Design > Table Properties (not sure of translation using dutch edition but you should be able to find it)
It mentions that it is missing the ExecudingProvider. It;s indeed gone from the Columns that are listed, in place I do see the ExecutingProvider column which is not selected, clicked the checkbox to select the new column name. When clicking Save PowerPivot
starts loading. On reach of 13.000.000 records PowerPivot crashes saying an error has occurred, no real specification on what error and restarts excel automatically.
My work arround for know is to remove the table from the model and add it again, causing to recreate all relation ships. This should not be the case I think.
Do other have this same problem and did you figure out what is going wrong?

Did the issue happen only for one user or for multiple users?
If the issue happen only for one user, you can try to login on other well-worked computer with the issued Lync account to test the issue. You can also try to use another well-worked Lync account to login on the issued computer to test the issue.
If the issue happen for all Lync users, please also check if Lync Server 2013 update to the latest version.

Since you said that Excel 2013 can start normally in safe mode, then this issue seems to be caused by some add-in. Disable the add-ins to check the issue.

Word/Excel 2013 Hangs when trying to open mapped drive

Issue:
when opening up a document from a shared drive, microsoft word will freeze. This also happens with excel.(the freezing occurs right as you try to browse to "My Computer" you can browse anywhere else and it will not freeze)
I have tested this with wordpad/notepad and the problem does not occur in those applications.
I have been able to duplicate it with different documents, multiple times.
For troubleshooting currently I've:
Repaired Office
Re-installed Office
Restarted the Computer
Disabled Add-ons
Disabled on SMB 2 on server & client workstation
Tried different user accounts
Disabled firewalls/anti-viruses
Deleted the Word Data registry keys
Not sure what I am overlooking and appreciate any help and support.
Some additional information:
If I connect to the shared drive via the IP address (start -->run --> 192.168.x.x) then browse to the files, I can open them just fine.

I would first suggest you to check your mapped network shares, check if it is located on a slow or a down-level computer, or is connected across a wide area network.

ICal hangs after making an iCloud-email-address

I made a mail-adress in my iCloud, and set to that email-address: add calender, add contacts. Now my iCla on my Mac hangs already for 2 days ... It says: update iCal-calenders ....
I deleted already al de plists of i-Cal in Preferences ... I quit everything, started again ... It keeps on "updating iCal-calenders ... " and every event is put 2 even 3 times in my iCal (not in iCloud, only in iCal on my Mac)

If you want to get new email @icloud.com email address for you existing Apple ID, then you have to open "Settings > iCloud" and set up a new iCloud account. It could be that the system ask for an Apple ID which is already an actual email address. In this case you have to change that in here: https://appleid.apple.com

Excel 2013 PowerPivot Error - "PowerPivot is unable to load the Data Model"

I'm attempting to use the PowerPivot add-on in Excel. When clicking 'Manage Data Model' or attempting to 'Load to data model,' I receive the error 'We couldn't load the Data Model. This may be because the Data Model in this workbook is damaged.',
followed by 'PowerPivot is unable to load the Data Model.' This happens irrespective of data source type. I have Excel 2013 32-bit, PowerPivot 32-bit, running on Windows 7 OS 64-bit. I am not running an SSAS instance on my machine.
Any suggestions?

This issue seems to be caused by the October 2013 update (KB 2825655) for Excel 2013. Try to remove it or restore the system to an earlier point and check the result.

Xi Pro wont convert all sheets of an Excel 2013 to pdf

When using the "combine files in Acrobat" only sheet #1 of the spread sheet is converted. However, this only happens on our machine that has Excel 2013. The same documents are converted flawlessly when the feature is used on a machine that has Excel 2010.

Sharing Documents in SharePoint 2013

I have users that have created some documents in their personal SharePoint Site. Example
http://eagleviewsocial/personal/ken_craig/Documents. They are then trying to share those documents with me. We have done this with a Excel document. At first I could not access
this but was getting a message that I was able to find a resolution to. I had to go into Central admin and add
http://EagleViewSocial and all sub folders to Excel Services Trusted locations. Now I have share and Excel, Power View report, word doc with another users who just keeps getting error that user does not have
permissions to view that doc. I show that he is shared for each one of the docs and it send the email to the users. When he opens the email it opens IE on correct address but again fails with he does not have permissions. What is going on
that is causing this.

Based on your description, my understanding is that the users cannot view the documents after sharing the documents with them.
I recommend to verify the things below for troubleshooting this issue:
1. Go to the OneDrive library in the MySite where the user shares the document with the account with issue to see if he can view the document by clicking into the document in the browser.
2. Is the issue only occur with excel files? If yes, please check the permission of the Excel Service Application to see if the users have full control on the service application.
3. Please also check the ULS log for detailed error message.

Excel 2013 freezes,hangs

Hi,
One of our Accounts team member's Excel freezes,hangs ( freezes suddenly when he is in middle of something) and has to close excel and reopen it. Cursor moves but few areas of the excel freezes and cannot click anything on the excel sheet.
Did anyone face this type of issue. Please suggest.
Is there a way to put performance counters on excel and see what is going on ?
