Excel 2013 Problem: couldn't open excel files-Notice: There isn't enough memory

1. This occurs only on my Lenovo laptop.2. The total RAM is 8GB, and the operating system on this laptop is 64-bit.3. Windows 8.1 + Office Professional Plus 20134. After a fresh boot, I still get this message when using Excel spreadsheets ONLY.5. This just happened now with spreadsheets successfully used over a period of time.6. Even when I try to open a blank file, this message pops up.Actions taken:1. Increased virtual memory size from 1408 MB to 4586 MB, nothing changed.2. Scaned the computer by ESET NOD32 Antivirus, no virus is found.3. I copied the Excel files and run them on another laptop (COMPAQ+windows 7+32bit operating system +4gbram+excel2010), no problem, althought it's slower.Your help on this problem will be highly appreciated.

so i set up this bit of a lab network in packet tracer. (will set up a more complex lab once this little bit is working right). See imageI've got the following172.16.1.0/24 on the left172.16.2.0/24 on the right172.16.4.0/24 serial link between the two routersThe host PC's can ping each other, across the "pond". they can also ping the router interfaces. the routers can ping each other and the hosts. the only goofy thing is, i can't ping the switches on the opposite side from the router or hosts. I can ping the switch from within it's own subnet but not from afar.the switches also can't ping the serial port IP's of the router on it's own side. (example, switch on the left can ping 172.16.1.1 but not 172.16.4.1I've set up static routes on both routers, and what I believe to be the proper default gateway routes on both switches. Maybe it's...

Are you using Adobe Reader or Preview to view the file? Can you get the sender to resend the file?

  • Excel (There isn't enough memory to complete this action)

    Hi,
Everytime multiple Excel spreadsheets are open we keep getting the error message saying:
There isn't enough memory to complete this action.
Try using less data or closing other applications.
    To increase memory availability, consider:
    - Using a 64-bit version of Microsoft Excel.
    - Adding memory to your device
I have tried to increase the memory to 8GB and re-installed to 64-bit version but the application keeps doing the same thing. It freezes occasionally, blank screen appears.
What can i do to resolve this?

    Hi George:
    1. Is this occurring on multiple computers or just one? (You wrote 'We' ...") -
    Just one machine
    2. What is the total RAM and operating system on this computer / these computers? -
    8GB Ram using Windows 7
    3. After a fresh boot, do you still get this message when using Excel spreadsheets ONLY? -
Yes after a fresh boot only happens with Excel
    4. Did this just happen now with spreadsheets successfully used over a period of time? -
    Yes thats correct
    Hi Robbery:
You may be right about the formula calculation but these are spreadsheets that have been modified over
time so we cant start from fresh. I tried to increase the virtual memory but still no joy.

  • "There isn't enough memory to read worksheet" error when tried to open xlsx object from Powerpoint 2010

    Hi,
I have a powerpoint presentation (will call it A.PPTX) which has an embedded spreadsheet object (B.XLSX). I was able to double click the object in "A" and open "B.XLSX" as and when necessary.
today, i opened B from the A and inserted another spreadsheet C.XLSX as an object in B. Closed all the files and saved A.PPTX. when i tried double click and tried to open B.XLSX from the powerpoint, i am getting an error "There isn't enough memory to
    read worksheet"
Unfortunately, i don't have a backup of B.XLSX as I always edited it by opening it from the presentation. is there a way to recover it?
    Note:
    1. read through similar threads in the forum about errors while inserting objects or similar error in Powerpoint 2003. the solution provided did not help

    Hi
By the description, you want to recover the embedded worksheet in PowerPoint.
    Try following methods:
    1.Click to the presentation file
2.Change the file extension from pptx to zip
3.Open the file, locate to ppt>embeddings
4.There you will see the embedded worksheet
5.Save the file to another path and open it
If the worksheet is still corrupted, following these steps to recover an Excel file:
1.Change the file extension from xlsx to zip
2.Open the file, locate to xl>workbook.xml
    3. These XML files contain the data of each spreadsheet.
4.Copy the data to a new worksheet and save

  • Microsoft Excel won't open because it says there is not enough memory?

I'm trying to open Microsoft Excel and a prompt appears stating that there is not enough memory even though I have 140gb available of a 250gb hard drive. Any suggestions?

You're right, i did. But how do I clear out available RAM? When I check the Activity Monitor and then System Memory it says I have 1.3gb available. That SHOULD be enough. Right?

  • Error Message - Couldn't complete your request because there is not enough memory

I'm using Adobe CS5 Extended on a PC running under Windows Vista Home Premium with 4GB RAM.  When I complete editing a RAW file in ACR and choose to Open Image into Photoshop, I often receive an error message "Could not complete your request because there is not enough memory (RAM)".  However, Task Manager shows that about 2.5 GB of RAM is in use, the rest is free.  Any ideas?

First, an apology - to John as his original post appears to have got somewhat hijacked.

Did you even TRY the advice given?  You have to make the change in the Preferences - Performance panel, then close and restart Photoshop to test it.
YES I did actually - made absolutely no difference whatsoever.

You ARE aware you're talking to just other users here, right?  We're just regular folks who have LONG SINCE figured out that we need bigger machines to work on large Photoshop images.
I don't actually class 22MB as a large Photoshop image - you might, I don't.  If it had multiple layers, or I was doing massive amounts of processing, fair enough, but just opening the file from ACR?
As for upgrading the machine to open the files, this is Adobe's official requirement for CS5.1:
    Windows®
    2GHz or faster processor*
    Microsoft® Windows® XP with Service Pack 3, Windows® Vista® Home Premium, Business, Ultimate, or Enterprise with Service Pack 2, Windows® Vista® 64-bit or Windows® 7
1GB of RAM or more recommended
1GB of available hard-disk space for installation; additional free space required during installation (Photoshop CS5.1 cannot be installed on flash-based storage devices.)
1,024x768 display (1,280x800 recommended) with qualified hardware-accelerated OpenGL® graphics card, 16-bit color and 256MB VRAM
The machine way excedes the requirements, so, I stand by what I said before.
Thanks for your help though, much appreciated.

  • I can't open any excel file it say's not enough memory everything else works. Thanks

I have no clue on what is going on with my computer can anyone help?

How many programs do you have open. Usually your machine will use the disk as scratch memory, but your program may be needing internal memory and it may not be able to address it. Close some programs backwards as to how you opened them and see if you can free some memory. If you still have a problem, I would close everything and restart opening that program first. Jerry

  • In Photoshop Elements 10, when I try to save a photo, I get the error message: "Could not save file because there is not enough memory (RAM)." I have plenty of RAM and no other programs running. Why am I getting this message?

    Why?

The problem with write permissions for the OneDrive folder only shows up in Lightroom 6's export dialogue, that's why it's to irritating. Lightroom 5.7.1 is not having that problem nor does the file explorer. The problem also exists on both of my machines. I will try to check for other problems with the OneDrive troubleshooter though: Running the OneDrive troubleshooter - Windows Help

  • Couldn't open a file

Hello, this morning I couldn't open any files from my iCloud, anyone having same issue?
    Error message:
The file “[file_name].pages” couldn’t be opened.
    Version: 5.1 (1769)
    Thanks,
    ~M

I'm seeing the same issue with iCloud, I've been using Apple iCloud since the inception, but there is something going on with the file sync lately.  I purchased more storage and I'm getting the above issue after saving a file to iCloud, the sync processing seems to invalidate the file.  I've mostly seen this with image and PDF files that I've created or saved, but also Excel when saving.
Hopefully @apple addresses this soon, I really want iCloud to be a better alternative to dropbox, but I'm running both side by side for now.
MacBook Pro 15" Retina and iMac 5K all running the latest Yosemite all having the same issue.

    Hi Octopus,
Based on the error message, it seems that the Visio Graphics Service is not started or the Enterprise feature is not enabled.
I recommend to check the things below:
Go to Central Administration > System Settings > Manage service on server > check if the Visio Graphics Service is started > then click Application Management > Manage service applications > check if the Visio Graphics Service application
    is created.
Go to the root site settings page of the site where you got this error, click Site collection features to check if the SharePoint Server Enterprise Site Collection Features is enabled.
Go to the site settings page of the site where you got this error, click Manage site feature to check if the SharePoint Server Enterprise Site Features is enabled.

  • I couldn't open swf files

Flash Player is installed but I couldn't open swf files

Hi Susana,  I thought I couldn't open swf files too until I got one with sound.  I minimized my windows on top and found it playing on the bottom window.  This happens with both videos and Jpegs sent to me from a Mac;  I am using a PC with Windows Live Mail.  Therefore I think this problem is due to Shock Wave Format files (swf).
I haven't found the solution to this yet, but I have isolated it.

  • Error Message.."Couldn't open the file. It may be corrupt or a file format that Preview doesn't recognize."

Hi, This may be a common problem, I've browsed through posts here...anyway help required please! This morning I downloaded 108 photo's from my Canon EOS1000, same as I've ever done for the last few years. They seemed to load okay as they have always done, but just five minutes later I tried to open them and had this dreaded message  "Couldn’t open the file. It may be corrupt or a file format that Preview doesn’t recognize." I've checked file extensions etc. and they're all JPEG's - and the information on each photo looks similar to photos' in the stuff I downloaded last week.
Have I lost these photo's? Can they be retrieved? Of course I selected the "delete photo's from camera option on downloading.....
    Any help greatly appreiated

It sounds like the drive directory is corrupted.
Boot from the DVD that came with your iMac. Open Disk Utility and repair the hard drive.
