Presenr reports are developed in using Rxcel Add ins using 9.3.1.
Want to move to Smartview
what are pros and cons for that which I have to follow.

Financial Reports import into excel using Smart View - error

All,
I have encountered an error message when trying to use R&A Import.
The message is
Oracle Hyperion Smart View for Office, Fusion Edition
"Excel cannot insert the sheets into the destination workbook, because it contains fewer rows and columns than the source workbook. To move or copy the data to the destination workbook, you can select the data, and then use the Copy and Paste commands to insert it into the sheets of another workbook."
This only affects some users and then they are able to reimport the reports no problem in the same workbook after the error is posted.
Does anybody know how to fix this issue?
We are using Excel 2007, Oracle Hyperion Smart View 11.1.13, Financial Reporting Studio, Hyperion Planning 11.1.13.

Answer appears to be users were using Excel 2007 in compatibility mode. Switching from compatibility mode to saving in Excel 2007 removed the errors.

Excel Formulas - Smart View

Hello -
New to the system, but wanted to know if there's a way to keep Excel formulas after refreshing in SmartView. Appears as though we lose the formulas after clicking the refresh icon.

When the Change Alias Table is set to Default, Smartview shows the descritptions of the dimension values: Account, Sub-account, Period, etc..... The problem is that on this setting anytime we refresh the formulas will be lost. Because nobody can read a report without descriptions, need to find a way to work around this problem. Will changing the setting to what you stated solve this dilema? If not any known solutions?

Smart view compatible old essbase excel add-in

hello,
There is someone that knows if the old excel file created with old essbase excel add-in are compatible with smart view.
because I receive the error "the row cannot contain multiple dimensione" when I refresh an old excel with smart view

I have a problem with old excel-addin, excel crash when retrieve data or drill down.
smart view works fine, but is not compatible with old version of file excel created with old essbase add-in. Exist a work around to use old file excel with smart view.

Smart View freezes excel

I have a specific excel sheet which, when opened in excel with active Smart View add-in, always freezes up. Disabling the add-in allows to open the sheet but as soon as the add-in is reactivated it freezes again.
Windows 7, Excel 2010, Smart View 11.1.1.4.
Following the advice fromExcel sheet hangs using smart view 11.1.2.2.000 I've changed the security settings and added the directory to the trusted sites, all to no avail.
The error log is filled, but can't make much of it:

Most of that was said in the other thread already and doesn't work.
Preserve Formula on POV change: was already unchecked
Try adding smartview folder as trusted site in Excel: was already done
check the macro settings as Excel sees the addin as a macro: -> what do I need to check?
Also take off the safemode settings: was already done.
Internet explorer doesn't come into play here for me... only excel and smartview for now. Haven't even had a chance to make a connection yet.

Some users not seeing all of a web form in Smart View Excel 11.1.2?

I am on Planning 11.1.2 and I have an end user who, when he opens a web form in Excel using Smart View, he only sees about 1/3 of the entire form. If in the Oracle/Planning web, the form is fine. When he uses my machine, he sees the entire web form in Smart View Excel. Is there a setting on his Excel I need to change?

It's a limitation, if you will, of the way JDeveloper works. It essentially runs your JSF page in order to get the rendering. At design time, the phase listener is obviously messing things up since you're not in a proper secured environment - hence the workaround to bypass your phase listener at design time.

Getting error while installing the smart view on windows operating system

You probably have one of the other Office applications running - remember, Office is not just Excel and Smart View works with those other applications too - and / or it's open invisibly. If you open task manager and look at Processes you may see an instance of EXCEL.EXE (for example) even though Excel isn't visible as an application on your desktop.

Smart View works with all of the office products not just Excel and is the replacement for the Add-in. Smartview uses Web Services (APS) while the add-in uses less secure TCP-IP connections. Smart ciew works with Essbase, Planning and HFM while the add-in only works with Essbase. There are a ton of other differences depending on what version you are using. Version 11.1.2.1.102 has the best parity with Smart View having about 99 percent of the Add-in functionality for Essbase, plus a number of enhancements that the add-in can't handle

Thanks for the reply . if i dont give them essbase write role user cant submit data through smartview or Excel addin. at the same users want to see adhoc reports making connection in smartview through planning, then users can send data.
1. I want users to restrict export dataform to smartview, if they can export dataform to smartview it automatically makes connection using planning and users can pretty much change data.
2. is there any way to restrict users making connection through planning in smartview.
3. when users make smartview connection through essbase, the secuirty works fine and they cant change the data.

Smart View/Excel A document with the name 'HsTBar.xla' is already open

I got this error message when starting Excel. The following fixed it:
1. Deleted shortcuts to HsTBar.xla in Documents and Setting
2. Disabled Smart View in Hyperion > About
3. Unchecked Hyperion Smart View for Office in Tools > Addins
4. Quit Excel
5. Started Excel
6. Enable Smart View Hyperion > About
I do not know exactly what fixed the problem as the error has not reoccured but hopefully this will help someone.

Issue importing interactive reporting into excel smart view 9.3

I am new to smart view, and while importing an interactive document from a system9 portal in excel, it always returns "Error Accessing Import Data", after clicking finish in the wizard, even though i was able to preview the document in the previous step. This also happens for a few other colleagues.
Wondering if anyone out there may be able to suggest possible root causes, would be greatly appreciated

Copy the HsAddIn.dll, HsSpread.dll, HyperionSmartTag.dll and HsTbar.xla from the Bin folder in the install home of SmartView path : <Drive:>\Oracle\SmartView\Bin (by default)
Paste the files into the Add Ins folder for that user: C:\document and settings\<User>\ApplicationData\Microsoft\AddIns
Click the Start Button, then in the "Start Search" box type CMD but DO NOT press Enter yet.
Program cmd.exe should be found. Right-click on cmd.exe and choose "Run as Administrator" and click "Continue".
In the command line window register each file from point 1 using regsvr32 command:
regsvr32 C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Microsoft\AddIns\HsAddIn.dll
In the Excel 2007 Go to Tools > AddIns > Browser for HsTbar.xla in the AddIns folder and then click OK.

Failed to create Smart View Extension Activator when launching MS Excel

I am using EPM Planning 11.1.2.1.
We have installed Smartview on client (MS Office 2003). No error on installation.
But when we launch MS Excel, we have the following error message :
Failed to create Smart View Extension Activator object. Verify that it is (registered) properly
Please install the following update of Microsoft Corporation :
MS Office 2003 Update (office 2003-KB907417-FullFile-ENU.exe)
We have installed the KB907417 MS Office update, but we still have the same error message.

One more reason that i can think is Office shared feature that comes along with office suite which is needed for installing office addins. Could you please verify in your system if office shared features is installed.
to check: Add or remove programs->microsoft office->change->add/remove feature-> you can see the list of office stuffs installed on the machine. Just check if "office shared feature" is present.

I realized that I can put a block in WebI and then I can pull that in excel alongside of static header, after putting the question.
My interest to know whether it is by design in XI 3.0 or it is an issue. But by the replies it seems to me like it is by design.
@Anis: I can't go for header as part of Body. Because this report is viewed in Web by many other users. I can't have separate report for Live office, it is a restriction for me. If I use the header in body, it wont look good I guess.

Dear Experts,
We are now working with Excel 2007 and Smart View 9.3.1.4.041, and encounter the problem that ervery time open the protected excel file there would be the warning message "Drawing Objectes in one or more sheet(s) in the workbook are protected. Please unprotect them and try to save again."
Can any one suggest with;
1. How to set the Excel security settings for Excel 2007 to work for smart view?
2. How to avoid the message mentioned above while working with Excel 2007?
3. How to create a protected Excel file to work with Smart View 9.3.1.4.041 both in Excel 2003 and Excel 2007?

I've experiencied similiar problems, though other users may have found a better solution, I've unlocked the spreadsheat, refreshed, and then relocked via a VBA macro. A button object at the top of the spreadsheet was added to make it easier for the users use as well. If there is a better solution I am very interested in this as well.

Smart view 11.1.2.3 error in Excel after installation

I have Microsoft Office 2007 and install smart view of Hyperion Workspace 11.1.2.3 bit but got an non identified issue at open Excel.
Kindly help.

Please follow the below steps
1. From control panel check for any smatview installed , if yes please uninstall the same
2. take the backup of Windows registry.
3. delete the entries in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Excel\options
4. download the latest version of smartview from the below link.
