Excel error on Windows 7 - Strange Issue
Hi
We are running BPC MS version with SP9 and with clients accessing via Excel 2007 or 2010 (BPC client is 7.0.118) running on Windows XP and 2007 and have recently been having Excel crashes when opening certain (not all) BPC input schedules and reports. Excel crashes with an error in the module ntdll.dll and exception code 0xc0000374.
After some further investigation, I have narrowed the issue down to machines running Windows 7 only (both with & without sp1) as XP machines don't have any issues. Yesterday I re-installed a fresh version of Windows 7 on my laptop then immediately installed Excel 2010 only (no other apps such as anit-virus, printer drivers, other Office products nor were any other Excel add-ins loaded) and connected to BPC only to have the same issue. I tested on other pc's also on both our BPC development & production server and faced the same problems.
Interestingly it only happens to certain reports (I have full BPC admin rights) and if I open the BPC report without being connected to BPC, it opens fine however as soon as I connect to the server, Excel crashes. I have also tried setting the Excel calculation option to MANUAL which seemed to work for a day or so then the crashes came back despite repeating the same procedure. I have also tried running in Windows safe-mode and disabling all non-MS service using MSCONFIG without success. On one machine also running Windows 7 crashes sometimes when trying to open the e-data option from the Excel menu.
Is anybody experiencing the same issue as this is now critical as we go-live on 1 August for our next rollout? FYI I have also logged an OSS message and searched Windows / Excel online forums tried all the steps suggested for the error, however no solution could be found.
I believe the issue maybe related to BPC client 7.0.118 as I don't remember this happening before we upgraded to sp 9 from sp 3 a few months ago, but I am not able to reinstall the earlier BPC client.
Hope someone can assist.
Regards
Geoff
Hi Geoff / Velázquez,
Thanks for this. I had the same problem running a 7.0.118 client on Server 2008 R2 as a Terminal Server.
There were some commented-out EVDREs that still had strange characters in the ColKeyRange and RowKeyRange cells. (The workbook was fine on Server 2003 / Office 2007 and XP / Office 2007, but caused Excel to crash on Server 2008 R2.)
I deleted the entries (via XP) and the problem has now gone away. Problem solved.
Glad I found this post. Appreciated.
Regards
Nick

Export to excel error - NOT windows 2003 server
hello everyone, I'm facing this kind of prblem: exporting to excel gives an error. no error when exporting in pdf or rtf. I read a number of threads on the matter: a hotfix was released to solve the problem on windows2003 server, which is not the case here. The used system is winxp sp3. I've also read that goig back to a sp2 might solve the problem, but that's certainly not an option. Anybody has any idea?
using:
windows xp sp3
.net framework 2
crystal report XI (not embedded)
visual c# 2005
thanks in advanceWith .NET 2005, you have to move on to CR XI r2 (11.5). No sense continuing with CR 11.0. As you already have CR 11.0, you can download CR XI r2 for free from here:
https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100006008462008E/crxir2.zip
Uninstall CR 11.0 before installing CR 11.5. Use your CR 11.0 keycode when installing CR 11.5.
Once you have CR 11.5 installed, check the version. I want you to be at 11.5.1838 (I am not sure of the exact SP that is in the download). If you are at a lower version, apply SP 6 from here:
https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100015859952009E/crxir2win_sp6.exe
The references in you r.NET project should be 11.5.3700.0. See how things go in your app once you are at CR 11.5.
As an FYI.; Sp 6 runtime;

Hi all
After a epic weekend of rebuilding our exchange server I have tried to reinstall Backup exec 12.5 64bit, this was installed with no issues during the last build, however at the end of this build I went to reinstall Backup Exec 12.5 and it is failing with

I have looked on many sites and tried many things non of them have worked, has anyone managed to resolve this issue.

Strange Issue with using ExportToHttpResponse for exporting to Excel
Hi,
We are working with BO XI R2 with .Net 2.0.
We are using ExportToHttpResponse method to export the Crystal Report to pdf/excel and directly opening the export in a browser window.
Code being used is as follows :
For pdf : rd.ExportToHttpResponse(ExportFormatType.PortableDocFormat, oResponse, false, Name);
For Excel : rd.ExportToHttpResponse(ExportFormatType.Excel, oResponse, false, Name);
where 'rd' is ReportDocument instance.
The strange issue here is that for pdf output this works as desired and the exported report is directly opened in the browser window. However when it comes to Excel ; it does not open the exported file in the browser window and gives a prompt to open/save file. Even if the 'asAttachment' parameter of ExportToHttpResponse method is set to false it still is sending the exported file as an attachment to the browser and not opening it directly (as it is happening in the case of a pdf export )
Do we need to set the Response.ContentType to excel ; if yes then why it is working in case of pdf.
Can any one please advise about this strange issue .
Thanks

Thanks for the response Ludek .
I was going through some othere threads and saw that ExportToHttpResponse is more preferred over ExportToStream . I even checked for setting up the Response.ContentType to Excel . I think I shoulfd give it a try to use ExportToStream.
Let me know if any one else has any other suggestion(s). -
Itunes install issues error 7 - Windows error 193
Gents,
I am using Windows 7, had iTunes for years no issues I couldn't solve myself, this time I need help.
When the last update of iTunes came on, I tried to update my version but couldn't do the update (I don't remember the error message details, it just said that I had to re-install iTunes).
So I cleared ITunes and all Apple related softwares from my computer (yes in the recommended order, and yes I rebooted in between) tried to re-installed (numerous times) and I always get the same error messageS:
"Couldn't install ITunes Error 7 (Windows error 193)" and also "ITunes helper was not installed correctly"
When running the installer I get the error message "Apple Mobile device failed to start", even if I ignore this message during the install, I am unable to open iTunes once the install is done. (the install goes through and says install finished).
Note: I also tried to "fix" during the install, it didn't work.
Context / Trials / Notes:
- I tried to "repair" the Apple Mobile Device in programs (unsuccessfully)
- I had 2 Apple Mobile Device services, so after a complete un-install and reboot, I manually (command prompt) remove the last service
- In all my un-install attempts I went on the C: drive and made sure ALL folders were cleared of apple / iTunes traces. Delete ITunes setup file, empty the recycle bin of course, reboot etc)
- Windows is up-to-date - No viruses (using Malwarebyte/ AVG & Spybot).
I am at a loss, spent a lot of hours on the computer and on forums, but couldn't find the fix.
I would greatly appreciate your help, this is getting on my nerves and I really need to change the music on my iphone ! (lol)
thank you in advanceIf the above hasn't helped then for general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for performance issues or compatibility with third party software.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
Disabling your AV during installation may sometimes help.

HT1926 ITunes 11 install issue, Error 7 (Windows error 126)
While trying to install ITunes11 on a Windows Desktop with MS XP SP3 I keep getting an error message that states "ITunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall ITunes.Error 7(Windows error 126)".There is an initial message that states that "Apple Mobile Service did not install" with three choices of Abort,Retry,Ignore which I have tried all 3 with same result of no install and it asks that I make sure I have administrative rights which is not an issue.Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Error 7 (Windows 5 errror) issues revised?
Hello,
My iTunes won't open, and continually shows this error message: Error 7 (Windows error 5). I came to this support site and saw a thread mentioning that I should delete all apple components on my laptop (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923), and also upgrade my Microsoft .NET Framework I was able to do all of this with the exception of Apple Application Support. I can't seem to delete it from my laptop. I also ran a cleaner to get rid of the remaining excess files related to these deleted apple components. Then, after reinstalling iTunes, it still has the same error message. I'm at a loss. Can you help? Thanks.Update your .net framework to version 4, then
Follow the instructions on this link, basically un-install everything, remove programs that says they are made by apple inc. (using add remove program)
http://www.reimageplus.com/fix-windows-127-error/ (Many thanks to reimageplus.com)
You will also need to check and verify that the following folders have been removed:
C:\Program Files\Bonjour
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple
C:\Program Files\iTunes
C:\Program Files\iPod
C:\Program Files\QuickTime
C:\Windows\System32\QuickTime
C:\Windows\System32\QuickTimeVR
dont forget to remove icloud also
you dont need to delete your itune music library though
If any of these folders still exist, delete them along with their contents. (if you cant delete them, right click and go to properties and then security and change the control of the fold to you)
do this for files under program files and program file (x86) on your computer
once you have deleted everything, restart your computer. Then I repaired my registry using a registry repair program.
Important:- instead of installing itunes I installed quick time, which installs apple application support (this is the corrupt file which is causing all the issues)
i then installed itunes and it all worked fine,
should take no longer than half hour to fix
hope this helps -
We have a 10 person office - all either use Acrobat XI or Reader XI. One person is on Windows 7. The rest are on Windows 8 (not 8.1). I say this because I thought it was a Windows 8 issue, but having the same problems on the Windows 7 machine. We are all having problems opening pdf's sent to us from other firms. This has increased in frequency over the past two months. We've checked with the various firms, and their other clients are not having problems. Some pdfs open but with a lot of missing content and strange formatting, others won't open at all. There are different error messaged depending upon the doc. Some are regarding the fonts, for example "can't extract the embedded font...." Others are "insufficient data" errors. There are more, but for purposes of keeping this short, I won't include them. Another unrelated issue is that we are having trouble printing excel files to pdf. The files end up with bad formatting. I've worked with adobe "chat" support, our IT consultants with no resolution. I also haven't found any similar "known issue" online Would very much appreciate any assistance. Thank you
The font embedding can be a problem if not done and you are trying to view the PDF and do not have the font on your machine. Acrobat will often try to find a replacement, but it is not always a good choice. Sometimes the "Use Local Fonts" button can be changed in state to resolve some of the viewing issues.
If you are trying to copy or export info, then it is important that you have the fonts on your system. Otherwise, the message you are getting about embedded fonts would not be showing up.
As for Excel formatting, be sure that the Adobe PDF printer is selected in the printer screen before you look for the paging and formatting of the file. In most OFFICE programs, if you change the printer the application will reflow the document to best match the printer (called "using printer metrics"). So check before you create the PDF that the layout is correct. -
PB12.5.2 on Windows 8 Issue
I have a strange issue with PB12.5.2 Build 5006 running on Windows 8 systems.
From the PB IDE, the application doesnt seem to recognize any of my MAPPED network drives. But it works fine when I run the application as an exe.
For eg: I have code to read a file - "F:\test\test.xls" This fails from PB IDE, it works if I provide the full UNC path like "\\servername\test\test.xls".
It also works when I run the exe, so what is it that is missing when I run from the IDE? Any thoughts?
PraveenOne of the major problems with built-in PB functions is that they return no (or very little) useful information when an error occurs. In this case I suggest you use the file API functions to open / close the file. When the error occurs (on openfile presumably) you can then use the API functions to get more useful information (i.e., getlasterror). With a little searching you should be able to find these already implemented in PB code that you can simply drop into your application. That does not solve your problem but it should let me identify the cause.
One more comment. It is rare for an application to read a binary file such as an Excel spreadsheet. Normally these are opened in an indirect fashion (e.g., an odbc database connection or via a com object). It would help to know what "reading" a XLS file means. -
What is the correct way to connect to a 32bit System DSN (Excel) on a Windows 7 64bit system?
I've recently switched from Windows XP Pro x32 to Windows 7 x64. Now, one of my scripts that uses an ODBC connection will no longer work. After a bit of searching, I discovered that Windows 7 x64 does not currently have 64bit Excel drivers. However, you can set up 32-bit connections by running "C:\Windows\SysWOW64\odbcad32.exe". Unfortunately, my script still won't work even though I set up the System DSN exactly like I did on my old computer. When I run my script, I get the following error:
Quote:
Script: X\XML_Check.vbs
Line: 212
Char: 3
Error: [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] The specified DSN contains an architecture mismatch between the Driver and Application.
Code: 80004005
Source: Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers
Line 212 contains:
objConnection.Open "DSN=charge_codes_XLS;"
It seemed to me that wscript.exe will only communicate properly with an identical environment (x32 to x32 or x64 to x64, but not x64 to x32 or x32 to x64). With that in mind, I found a way around the error by running my script via the 32bit version of Windows Script Host. I changed the shortcut path from "X:\XML_CHECK.vbs" to "C:\Windows\SysWOW64\wscript.exe X:\XML_CHECK.vbs" and the script appears to function ok.
What I really want to know is if there is a way to run my script via the 64bit version of wscript.exe yet have it connect to the 32bit ODBC subsystem? Is there a specific connection string I can use or am I just out of luck until Microsoft puts out 64bit Excel drivers?I faced the same issue recently. There was a 32bit MSOffice installed on the 64bit server and the same visual basic code worked from MS Office script debugger, and did not in the cscript/wscript.
It seems that
- the cscript/wscript used 64bit ODBC driver
- the office used 32bit ODBC driver
Excel drivers are installed for 32bit ODBC (because of 32 bit office the ODBC manager 32bit was a full hand of drivers).
Excel drivers are NOT installed for 64bit ODBC manager (because of 32 bit OFFICE) and can not be installed while the 32bit MS OFFICE is installed.
The SQL drivers are installed for 64bit ODBC (so that is why the SQL connection was established well)
The solution would be to run .js .vbs scripts in 32 bit environment:
\windows\SysWOW64\cscript.exe or \windows\SysWOW64\wscript.exe

Microsoft Office 2008 issues. Help. Excel not opening and other issues!
I converted to Lion on day one. I was able to use Microsoft Office 2008 without problem for days, then, just today, every time I go to open an excel file it opens, closes, then gives me the option of sending error reports to Microsoft. Word opens fine. The program is totally up to date (just did the 12.3 update). I repaired disk permissions, restarted the computer twice. Still, the same things happen. Here is the message I get for the Microsoft Excell Error Report:

OTHER ISSUES
The other thing that happens is that whether on Word or Excel when I click on a file to open it, it keeps trying to open all the recent files from that program intead of *just the ONE* that I want it to open. I also notice on Safari that when I reopen the program it opens ALL the websites I recently visited even though I don't have that checked as a preference... What gives??????????
Any suggestions. I am freakingout here, really need to get into these documents.Hi there.
This sound awfull like an issue with the resume function in OSX Lion.
This can be adjusted in system settings under general.

Hope this solves your problems. -
Strange issue with Exchange system
Hello,
I'm experiencing a strange issue with one of the Exchange 2013 mailbox servers running on Windows 2012. When trying to upgrade it to the new CU5, I'm getting the following errors:

In the Exchange organization there are 2 CAS servers, 2 MBX servers.
Memento MoriHi Vick,
Based on my research, I suggest you should upgrade the AD first.
1. Exchange 2013 CU5 contains schema changes. To upgrade the Schema to CU5 you can execute the following command:
Setup.exe /PrepareSchema /IAcceptExchangeServerLicenseTerms
2. And you also should upgrade the
Configuration Partition and the Domain Partition with the following command:
Setup.exe /PrepareAD /IAcceptExchangeServerLicenseTerms
Setup.exe /PrepareDomain /IAcceptExchangeServerLicenseTerms
3. After finished above two steps, now you can start to upgrade an Exchange 2013 server to CU5. Open a command prompt and enter the following command:
Setup.exe /Mode:Upgrade /IAcceptExchangeServerLicenseTerms -
When I plug in my Ipod Touch to my computer I can not access my Itunes library. The following message appears "The program cant start because MSVCR80.dll is missing." Also, another message appears as well - "Error 7 Windows error 126" as well as APSDaemon.exe.
I have NO IDEA what the heck to do.
Any ideas?
