  • OBI 11g excel export issue

    Hi,
I have a report where on taking an excel export, the last column header appears without border and cell color.
Could someone suggest which system files to look into to resolve this??
    Regards.

i'm using 11.1.1.5 and i have been reading about a lot of bug in this version, specially with excel exports and formats. So i suppose we need to apply a consolidated patch to get over this. Any idea whats the patch id ? is it going to be a good idea to convince the client for an upgrade to 11.1.1.6 ?? what are the pros and cons in this action stated?

  • Cannot Open Excel File after exporting from Disco Plus

    Hi there,
I got a question from one user having issue with opening Excel file after exporting from Disco Plus.
The report has been using for a while and he is using Excel 2003 version and Discoverer 10g(10.1.2.2), he never got this kind of error before, just recently got error.
After exporting from Disco Plus he saved file on his desktop and when he tries to open the excel it says "Cannot be Accessed, can be corrupted...." but this is not from network drive since he saved file on local desktop or C drive.
Also not for all reports, only this particular report and only specific parameter, for example for parameter 2008 Feb opened successfully, but for2009 Feb he gets this error when trying to open excel.
i tried in excel 2007 also , i dont think this is Excel version error, am not sure.
Also after go live last week (we upgraded database from 9i to 10g) but i am not sure this causes ,since for one parameter working, for other parameter not working.
Actually we should get one window for Macro when we try to open excel, but he is not getting it seems.
Any ideas/thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks for your help

    Rod,
Thanks for your quick response on this.
Yes, we can export to other formats as well, but actually exporting is working, after saving the file on our local desktop/drive and when we try to open we get this kind messages or we cannot open the file, we should get message window for Macro to enable/disable but for this report we are not getting this either,
Also this happens only for specific parameters, like i mentioned above it works I mean excel file opens for one set of parameters but for some other set of parameters cannot open.
For example :- when we enter FEB 2008 it works, if we enter FEB 2009 it won't open the file.
    This is weird
I am still working on this issue, may be better to recreate the report again might be helpful,
    Any ideas/comments/thoughts would be great
    Thanks

  • How to Avoid Empty Space in Excel Export , while using SubReport.

We have a sceneraio where we have parent child relationship and we are using the SubReport Concept to map the child data by taking input parameter from Parent Report.
The RPL/HTMl viewer , PDF works fine, but  when we export data into excel empty rows are comming.
Could  you please suggest how can we avoid empty space in Excel Export.
we have kept the cell (width and height ) same as SubReport Width and height.

    Hi SubhadipRoy,
According to your description, did you use separate subreport to display the data rather than insert subreport in tablix?
Based on my test, if we are use separate subreport to display the data in the report, when we export to Excel we will get an additional row. We can adjust the minimum gap between tablix and subreport to work around the issue. In SSRS 2012, if we paste tablix
and subreport without empty space in report design, it will not display the additional row. You can try to put the tablix and subreport in a rectangle to resolve the issue.

  • Excel export gives id's

    Hi
I've enabled the csv output on a region, this gives a link in the screen and the export works fine.
The problem is, that instead of returning the derived values it gives the original id's which you don't see in the screen.
Does anybody have a clue how to solve this without changing my datamodel.

    Hi,
for investigating this problem a short introduction to the Excel-Export function is helpful.
On serverside JavaScript tailored for interaction with the current Table is generated. This code is invoked on the client machine and tries interfacing with Excel via ActiveX-Controls. In a third step the data is requested from the Application Server, this request is processed in the handler class CL_CHTMLB_CONFIG_TAB_EXCEL_EXP.
I guess that the problem is caused by the JavaScript code executed on the client machen. There is a fallback, if no ActiveX-Control could be initialized a csv-File is requested from the server.
I would try some JavaScript debugging, the function thtmlbExcelExport in library scripts.js would be a good entry point.

  • Excel Exports

    1) Does anyone have a solution for creating an Excel Export with a chart / graph included?
    2) Is there any way to include formatting in an Excel Export? I'd like to be able to include Borders, Font Coloring, Formula's etc.

    Vega,
What version of ApEx are you running? I know in 2.x you could not export graphs "directly" into excel. However, although I've never done it, I've read documentation from companies that opted to use ApEx over Java and ASP solutions... One practice was to leverage the use of individuals familiar with VBA to format reports exported from ApEx. Have any of those around? ;)

  • Excel export are merging cells for data on multiple lines !

    Hello,
I'm using Crystal Report XI R2, when we are doing an export to Excel with have an unexpected formatting.
For example the value of the name is on 2 lines:
=> So, on Excel the result is on 2 lines but merged. We want to have this result only on one cells.
Remark: if we delete the 2nd lines, because cells are merged we obtain the expected result.
    Proposal A:
Are they any set-up available concerning the formatting of Excel ?
    Proposal B:
Could we run some VBA when we click on Export button to make queries on the Excel ?

When they introduced Unicode support in Crystal 9 (I believe), they had to completely re-write the export routines. At that time, they made a decision to change the functionality of the excel export. Crystal is attempting to remain absolutely faithful to the graphical layout of the report as you see it in the viewer. So it creates merged cell sections, empty columns between columns, and empty rows to give you as close to exactly what you see in the viewer as possible. Unfortunately, the result is typically less than useful. Iu2019ve had several conversations with Business Objects (now SAP) with regards to this when they changed it between versions 8.5 and 10, and they have no intention of changing the functionality as it now exists.
There is a document which is now likely somewhere on the SAP portal that explains what you need to do to obtain the best results when exporting to excel.
The jist of it is this:
Line up all of the columns detail data with thier headers, and make sure that data fields are the same size as thier headers.
Line up all rows (headers and detail rows). (ie: select everything in the row, right click, align tops, and make the same height)
cram everything as close together as possible. zero space in the report translates to zero extra collumns and rows in the export.
the other option is to use the export to data only functionality, but that may not be what you're looking for either.

  • How to freeze the columns in excel exported from SSRS report??

We have created a report for our client. The client wants the report in excel format. As there are nearly about 30,000 rows in the excel. Client wants us to freeze the column header names in the excel so that even after scrolling down they
will be able to see the column names.
can anybody have idea how to achieve this in SSRS?

    Hi Shard,
Thanks for your post, You can achive your requiremets by using the below logic. hope this will help you.
    Steps to achieve it
    1. Select the tabix and click on Tablix properties.
    2. In the General tab under Column Headers section you can see "Keep header visible while scrolling" checkbox, check it.
    3. Now the header row will be remain fixed in the report.
    OR
    1.    In the grouping pane, make sure to turn on advanced mode (click on the small black down arrow on the far right of the grouping pane)
    2.  Select the corresponding (Static) item in the row group hierarchy
    3.  In the properties grid, set RepeatOnNewPage to true
    4. KeepwithGroup to After
    OR
1)Freeze the header of all columns[ Freezing table header ] : To do select static member of table header row from  row groups [ Advanced Mode ] and set  FixedData to true
    2) Freeze the initial 2 columns : To do select static member of columns in column group and set fixedData to true .
How do you freeze the tablix header row in an Excel export file in SSRS 2008

    Regards,
    Manuel Roman

    Hi Gordon,
I had B1 on a pc that anytime that i clicked on the excel button and save it, the document would open in excel right away.
Now i have a laptop with XP Pro (same configuration as the pc) and everytime i click on save, saves the document and it doesn't open right away.... i have to basically import the txt file into excel....
The funny thing is that it was opening the file in excel and it was formatted correctly.

  • Export PDF converts filled PDF form without the data - Turns filled PDF form onto blank Word doc. Is there a solution to this or did Adobe just sell me a service that doesn't work?

Export PDF converts filled PDF form without the data - Turns filled PDF form onto blank Word doc. Is there a solution to this or did Adobe just sell me a service that doesn't work?

ExportPDF is not for forms. In general, converting forms to Word is a really, really bad idea which can even cause legal problems. Work with the form as a PDF. Acrobat (not Reader) can export form data as simple text for example.

  • Excel export (webui crm -- excel) wrong format of house number

    Hi,
in an excel export  (webui crm ---> Excel)  is displaying the wrong format.
If the house number contains a special character such as "/" then the house number displayed in the date format in Excel.
And if in the field house number is a number and a letter such as "9 a", then the house number is displayed in time format (9:00 am) instead the house number.
Does anybody know, how can I solve this problem?
    Thank you in adance.
    Best regards, Jasmin

    Hi,
There is no error from the CRM functionality. If you SAVE the excel, instead of opening it directly and then " open with "
word pad or notepad, you can see the phone no.s and fax no.s are properly transported to excel. There is a default format setting of
excel from the Microsoft, so you are getting the default format after opening the excel.
    Steps:
    1.Export to excel.
2.Choose the BP,PHONE and FAX columns holding the 'CTRL'key.
3.Right click on the chosen columns and choose "format cells".
4.Under the tab "number" choose 'number' and and reduce the decimal
place to '0' and click "OK".
5.Now you will be able to see the expected format.
If you are using IE then the excel file that is being generated should be an XML file which would help with the formating issue. But when there is a problem in the generation of the XML file a CSV file is created instead.
The kind of problems that can cause this could be :
    - Wrong version of Excel (professional needed)
    - Error in encoding (note 1560243 corrects this)
    - Active X Settings on browser are not properly setup or disabled
    - Other problems (some fixed in note 1457261)
    I hope this helps.

    Lloyd

  • Excel Export warning:verify file is not corrupted or is from a trusted sour

    Hi, everyone,
I'm using Apex 3.1 under CentOS 5 with 11G and Oracle HTTP server, also with Oracle BI publisher 10.1.3.3.2 under Windows server 2003.
The Oracle BI installation got all the default settings. Print under Apex is working, with PDF, EXCEL, RTF except Excel export with a minor but annoying warning
    message like: "
The file you are trying to Open, 'Top100-customer.xls' is in a different format than specified by the file extension, Verify the file is not corrupted or is from a trusted source before opening this file. Do you want to open this file now? "
then if I choose YES(default is NO), everything OKs. I get the same message even I save the file locally then open it. This is annoying to our users because they get such warning everytime they try export Apex to Excel file. Did I miss something in Oracle BIP setting Or did I miss something in Apex setting? the data and export are working, just with this extra unwanted warning.
    Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
    sean

    Thanks, John,
Your answer is exactly right, it's EXCEL 2007 thing, not Apex or BIP thing.
We have no control on user's registry settings, so from today on I just tell our customers "it's MS's fault" :)
    Thanks.

  • Excel-Export WAD 7.0 - Header/Footer/Margins

    Dear all,
I used the Header/Footer and Margin options in the export wizard (export to excel) but it doesn't work. When I print the excel file no header/footer information are shown. as well as the margin settings of the printed page are not as I entered.
I know that I should use the pdf-export (it works fine), nevertheless the customer wants to have a "formatted printing" even out of a generated excel-file.
    Any ideas?
Or do the input options regarding header/footer and so on only refer to the pdf-export?
    Thanks in advance.
    Mark

    Dear Mark,
Unfortunately Excel exporting is not designed for such purposes. The only option you have is to specify which web items are to be exported (using the Export to Excel button with the standard command). In case you want to export from the context menu, it will send to Excel everything which is on the screen, so, no way to control.
You could consider a workbook for a better formatted Excel, if really needed.
    Kind Regards,
    Marcio

  • How to improve the efficiency of EXCEL export?

I've found a not too small issue of the built-in EXCEL export function. We have a page which let the users query a huge table and return a report page. The query takes long time, however the users are tolerable enough to stand that since they know the size of the table. Nonetheless, the process to export to EXCEL would take almost the same time (maybe a little bit shorter) as the query, which is in-tolerable. It seems that the built-in function just Re-run the query against the table and sends the file to the excel file. Is there any way to solve this issue?
    Thanks in advance.
    Have a nice weekend!

    That is a good idea.
You can dump your query output into the collection and base the report region off of that collection. The Excel output just re-runs the region query so if you base the report region on the collection, you are done (you don't need to manually do just the export)
