Excel import time issue

I use Excel for doing service reports for work (Office 2004 for Mac) I made it so I type Time in and Time out and it does the calc for straight time and over time.
When I tried to import it, i get warning about 2 cells that have bad formating. (I have 14 cells for the calcs for the 7 days)
What happens is that the straight time winds up with all the time in that cell and the OT cell is blank. I can post the 2 formulas, but they are rather long
Ideas? I need to keep it Excel happy, since they get forwarded to the head office.
(Excel doesn't print merged boxes well if they have multiple lines)

This is currently logged under the Xcelsius section. Where did you try to export your data to Excel?
Are you talking from Webi via LiveOffice to Xcelsius?

Do you mind telling us which Excel version are you using? Which file are you using as data source? Excel, access or other? I tested in my environment, but I can't reproduce your issue.

4.1EA2 - Still problems with Excel import

Hello out there,
I just tried importing a .xlsx with 4.1.0.18.37 and I still have an old issue and a new one:
First, SQL*Developer seems not to determine the appropriate field length from the Excel file anymore. I usually uncheck the preview limit to 100 records. In my current import every text field was proposed as varchar2(26) even if there are just three characters in every record.
Second, and this is an old one, numeric fields cannot be imported properly. I get ORA-1722 invalid number. This was introduced with 4.1EA1 and still is not fixed yet. I run both SQL*Developer and the database (11.2.0.2 if that matters) with german localization. Oddly enough, the SQL written to the log (named *-bad.sql) runs without problems when executed afterwards.
I suspect SQL*Developer malformatting numeric values when sending it to the database. In the preview the numbers are shown with decimal comma, which is correct for display purposes and in the *-bad.sql they are correctly shown with decimal point which is what the database expects. So somewhere between these, there seems to be some NLS issue.

That's right, we're rounding up. Since we don't know how wide the actual stream is, we only previewed a 100 records, we round up to avoid problems at import time.
Click the dropdown control, i'm guessing you'll see your '3' there.

Excel Importer for Visual Studio LightSwitch 2013

Time issues? time zone settings appear in two places

If you leave the default "set time and date automatically", you see the time zone support below and you can check it or uncheck. You can then set your time zone there. But if you uncheck the automatic date and time, you get another time zone choice and the default is Cupertino, of course. I wonder if that's the problem with some of these time issues.
I've since unchecked automatic date and time, set my city's time zone, then rechecked automatic. The only weirdness I've seen was with an excel spreadsheet where the time was correctly shown on my mac, but not on the iphone. Unfortunately I don't have that sheet anymore or I'd try again to see if it works now.
Just a thought.

I noticed the same thing and did the same thing you did because my time was off by several hours each time I turned the phone on...after it being off overnight. When it was off by only 1 hour I could turn the Auto OFF then 'tap' the timezone (already set to the correct city) and the time would instantly correct itself. Then I'd turn Auto back ON.
Turns out that my time issue was related to having the SIM PIN enabled. Once I disabled that, the time's been correct every day.

Final Cut Pro X/Canon Vixia Import Time Different

Hi,
I have an annoying issue that I have not been able to figure out. I use a Canon Vixia M41 camera to record family videos in AVCHD. I usually import them directly off the card into Final Cut Pro X by first making an archive to store on another hard drive, and then import the actual clips into the library.
Everything works fine and seems to have been working fine for a while, but I recently noticed that my import time on all of my clips is off an hour. Now, I first thought, okay, daylight savings time, so I went into my camera and checked the time and date settings. I manually adjust for daylight savings time, so I do not have anything in the camera making the DST change automatically.
When I looked in the camera, the date and time are perfect. When I look at the clips on the card and click to play them back on the actual camera, the date and time are perfect there too; however, when I import those clips into Final Cut, the time on all of them are off by one hour. They are ahead an hour, so instead of 5 am, it's 6 am.
I know I can adjust the time in Final Cut, but I would like to know why the time is right on the camera and the clips on the camera, but import wrong when brought into Final Cut. I don't want to have to always check to adjust everything I bring into the application.
Any ideas? I am willing to test out anything. I have also noticed that it has been doing this for a while now and I didn't notice.

Canon Vixia M41 recording AVCHD

I've been running FCPX from version 10.0.1 up to the latest, and I spent some time puzzling why the time on imported files from my Panasonic SD700 were always an hour out. I tried several experiments setting the daylight savings on or off and adjusting the set time on the camera but FCPX always got it 1 hour wrong. This was despite the fact that the date/time on the raw video file in Finder was correct.
In the end I just had to accept that it was always going to be an hour out and either set the camera clock 1 hour back or take a short clip of the time on my phone so I could batch adjust the clips later! I can only assume FCPX gets its time from the metadata in the file structure and that some manufacturers' implementations confuse it!

Sudden increase in import time

On 9/6 I refreshed my database by exporting level 0 information,resetting the database, and importing the data back in. Theimport took 984 seconds. On 9/19, I performed the exact sameprocedure, and the import took 5,838 seconds. While I hadadded some dimension members in the meanwhile, as well as somedata, I can't see anything that would account for such a drasticincrease in import time. The size of the file on 9/6 was1,032,616 kb, and the file on 9/19 was 1,072,413 - not a bigdifference. Looking at your statistics there is an increase in the dimensiion members, but that should NOT account for such a massive increase in loading time. 1.5 hours is just wrong.... Unless there is a problem in your database. Try validating it just to make sure that it is ok. On a different tack, it would be worth checking the network traffic and the job log to see whether there was anything else running that may have caused this to go slow. If you can't find anything, make a copy, and then try it on the copy, just to se if it was a 1 off issue, or if it is taking so long...

Import times vary-explain this to me please

Why is it that when I’m importing a CD to iTunes (this is with either a new CD or an old CD) the import times vary so drastically?

are you using pure AS3 or are you using the design tool in CS4/5
when using the design tool in CS4/5 you can have objects in the library and drag them to the stage. this will automatically at the objects to the stage without having to call addChild()
if you are using pure AS3 you don't have access to this and you have to explicity add all you objects using addChild

is on the stage that hasn’t yet been displayed, you’ll get an error message saying this: here i cant understand any single word!!
Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.
you would only need to add a reference to the stage for non DisplayObjects (e.g. generally things that aren't sprites or MovieClips)
All DisplayObjects have access to the stage via the stage property. The stage property for an object is always null until you call addChild, not when they are constructed as you mention.
if you are trying to use the stageWidth and stageHeight property you shouldn't do this in the constructor of the object instead you would need to add an Event.ADDED_TO_STAGE listener and then do any configuration based ont he stage within this listener.

I'm attempting to create an automator workflow that will string some text together so that it can be imported into an Excel worksheet. Here's my workflow so far.
• New Text File
Creates file temp.txt
• Run AppleScript
Opens file temp.txt
• Get Specified Text (specified text below)
Read Today
Read Tomorrow
Read This Week
Read This Month
• Filter Paragraphs (needed so the text is not treated as one big line of text and is displayed in the next step correctly)
Return Paragraphs that are not empty
• Choose from List (all 4 items displayed correctly, all selected by default)
Select one item
• Set Contents of TextEdit Document (temp.txt) (append)
• Get Specified Text (specified text below (a semi-colon))

Well, it is good to know that it can be done in Applescript, though I have not found a way to accomplish this. All examples I have seen (Googling and AppleScript 1-2-3 book) use set statements using static strings, and then concatenating those statements together. Since my values are dynamic, those examples don't help.
What I have to work with are these lines of text in a new document.

How do I convert the "seconds since 1904" from the function "Get Date/Time in Seconds" to an MS Excel date/time format? The application runs in the Solaris environment.

I don't think we have an option to Import from Excel file, we are currently in 11.1.2.2 and so far it supported only a Text File Import, In the latest version we can Import from Tables, also no where Oracle has mentioned that we can Import from an Excel File.

Excel Import problem

I'm having trouble with importing data from excel. I'm using HiQ version 4.5 and during import spurious data seems to appear after import. doesn't inspire confidence in software quality

When the Excel Import dialog is invoked, you need to give the information required on the tabs.
1. On the columns tab: Shuttle any columns you want imported to the right.
2. On the Data Types Tab: In the second column, you need to match the column selected with the column in your table.
Then you can say insert.

I need to import data From Excel, but how i can set primary key from a Sequence value??

You do it from outside the Excel -> Import wizard in SQL Developer.
Define your table so your column is populated by a sequence. You can do this via an INSERT TRIGGER.
When you define your Import scenario, leave the ID field alone, i.e. set it such that no values are passed, then your trigger will fire and the sequence.nextval will be used.
