Excel not opening Adobe Hyperlinks

Hi,
I am using excel to insert a link to a PDF file, I am also using Adobe Reader 8.0
If I click on the link, the application opens, then closes straight away, however, if you open up the reader, then click on the link within excel, it will display the document,
Any ideas?
Dan

Actually, the settings in the Adobe PDF printer will override the Distiller settings. Open the printer from the Start>Printers and select the properties (can also to a right click on the printer to get the properties). You may have to select the advanced button on the general tab, but on the settings tab there should be a selection for viewing the PDF after created and you just need to change the setting. That should do the job. If you want it to open for a particular case, you can either just wait for the PDF or change the setting in the application (will not be retained when the application is closed).

I can not open adobe files that end in .doc. I purchased the 19.99 to convert doc to pdf and I still cant open. I get an error reading.

    Hi,
Which Adobe Service did you purchased?
If you have purchased CreatePDF please visit: https://createpdf.acrobat.com/SignIn.html
Sign in with your Adobe ID and password, and then convert your word doc into PDF.
Please let me know if that works.
If you have Adobe Reader, you cannot convert .doc file to .PDF by drag and drop.

  • Prem Pro will not open Adobe Media Encoder

When I go to Export and chose Media the input screen  comes up.  After selecting the desired settings and pressing Que, the program reverts back to Prem Pro.  In other words it will not open Adobe Media Encoder.  Can any one help me with this?

Can you launch Media Encoder from the Programs menu by itself? From Premiere, in AME window, does it work if you select "Export" rather than "Queue"?
    Thanks

  • Starting today, Firefox will not open Adobe Acrobat files in Adobe Reader, despite my putting Reader as default in Applications tab.

Until today, I had no trouble opening Adobe Acrobat files with Adobe Reader 9.5. (I need to use an old version of Adobe Reader, because I use a program called Macro Express that does not recognize later versions.) Starting this morning, when I click on an Acrobat file, I am asked which program I want to open it with. Even when I click "Do this automatically...", it doesn't do so. It asks me every time. I went into Tools, Applications, and changed all of the pdf related issues to open with Adobe Reader 9.5. This also doesn't work.

What I did was to reinstall/upgrade Adobe Reader, then there is an new option showing up in Firefox > options > applications > Portable Document Format(PDF), which is "use adobe acrobat in Firefox". Choose this one, then I managed again to open PDF files with Adobe Reader internally in Firefox.

  • Any external hyperlink (to Firefox) does not open in Firefox. Firefox is default browser. Firefox opens but does not open external hyperlink.

If I click on a hyperlink in application that is external to Firefox, clicking on the link opens Firefox, goes to the home page and that is all. The hyperlinked web page does not open.
If Firefox is already open, a new browser window is opened, goes to the home page. The hyperlinked web page does not open.

Apparently this is an add-on problem. I disabled all of the add-ons and the problem is now fixed. I have not been able to find out which is the culprit yet but I will track it down. If and when I find the problem add-on, I will post the name(s) here.

  • Excel Not Opening the 1st Sheet

When exporting a Discoverer file to Excel, I want Excel to open the Excel file automatically after export. During the export process there is an option at the end to open the 1st exported sheet. I check this, but it doesn't automatically open. I see in the help area, it tells me to do the following:
    Open the first exported sheet
Use this check box to open the first file in the file list when you close the Export Wizard. For example, if the first file is a HTML file, your Web browser will display the HTML file. Note: If you export to Microsoft Excel format and Microsoft Excel does not open the first exported sheet, check that you have the correct security level for macros. For example, in Microsoft Excel 2000, choose Tools | Macro| Security and set the security level to Medium or Low.
So I went into Excel and set my macro security setting to Low and saved that Excel document. I exited Discoverer and logged back in. Tried exporting again, but it still won't automatically open. Any ideas?
    Thanks!

Well I was able to get it working. Both solutions came from Tamir's Metalink tip. I just needed to apply 2 different sets of changes.
For my Windows 2000 PC, I did the following (from Doc ID: Note:307919.1 )
Add your site to 'Trusted Sites' in Internet Explorer to make this work.
    1) Go to Tools->Internet Options->Security tab->Trusted Sites->
Click on 'Sites' button and add your site from which you are launching Plus.
Make sure you uncheck 'Require server verification (https:) for all sites in this
    zone' and click 'OK'.
    2) Close Internet Explorer, launch Discoverer Plus again and test.
After adding your site as a 'Trusted Site', you should now be able to
export to Excel, HTML etc, and the application open up automatically.
Then, for my user's Windows Xp machine I did the following (from Doc ID: Note:301619.1 )
    Solution
Caution: Before altering the Windows Registry it is strongly recommended that a backup be taken. If the registry is updated incorrectly the PC may not be able to boot or applications may fail to start or cause errors.
    In the Windows environment:
    1) Start -> Run -> Regedit (to open the registry)
    2) Locate the following key path:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main\FeatureControl\FEATURE_ZONE_ELEVATION\iexplore.exe
    3) Change the value from '1' to '0'
    4) Ensure that the following settings for the .xls & .html file types are unchecked:
    a) Open Windows Explorer
    b) Goto Tools/Folder Options/File Types tab
    c) Select the Extension 'XLS' (or HTML) and Click on the Advanced button
    d) Un-check the option 'Confirm Open after Download' & 'Browse in same window'
    5) Select 'OK', then 'Apply'
    6) Re-Start the workstation (PC)
The Windows Login in XP can be setup on the domain or on the local PC. If the login is set up on the domain, please take this additional step. If the login is set up on the PC, skip this step.
    7) In Internet Explorer use the pull down Tools / Internet Options, and go to the Advanced tab. Scroll to the Security section and check the box for "Allow active content to run in files on My Computer".
I found the solution for my user's XP PC from the original Metalink # Tamir gave me (Note:301619.1). But, I chose to use this one (Note:307919.1) first (on my 2000 PC) because it looked easier to implement. It was, but only for my Win 2000 machine. I had to use the originally recommended Metalink note to get it to work for an XP machine. I just wanted to mention this in case anyone finds themselves in a similar situation.

You download a copy of Adobe InDesign CC
But unfortunately the program does not open out directly and closes

  • Office documents do not open from hyperlink or from File Open

I have several users, including myself, that have an issue opening MS Office 2013 documents. The issue can happen in one of two ways. 1st, often when there is already a Word or Excel document open and you try to open another either by File > Open or going
to the folder and double- clicking the file. It seems that Office just hangs on it and never opens the file.
2nd, clicking on a hyperlink in an IE browser. The file doesn't open but the icon for the file (either Word or Excel) shows on the taskbar as if there is an open document.
No errors are given and sometimes if you repeat the process a few times the file will eventually open. All users having the issue are on Windows 7 Pro both 32bit and 64bit.

    Hi,
We can perform a clean boot to determine whether background programs are interfering with Office applications:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135
In case it is due to some sort of macro running on your system, or it could be due to a problem with Word itself. Try to run Word and disable any add-ins that may be loaded by using the following from the command line:
    winword.exe /a
You can also try to disable any macros that are automatically run when Word is started by using this command:
    winword.exe /m
Let it me know if this helps.

  • Windows not opening Adobe programs

    Can anyone please help
Today my laptop stopped opening Adobe programs, all Adobe programs!
When I click a desktop shortcut for, say READER it get a dialogue box with the following message:
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader 11.0\Reader\AcroRd32.exe
    then under that :
Windows cannot find 'C:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader 11.0\Reader\AcroRd32.exe', make sure you typed name correctly and then try again.
It's driving me mad, cannot open any .pdf files or in Photoshop and pictures.
There are no such problems with ANY OTHER programs.
I have uninstalled all Adobe programs, then re-installed them and also done a system restore.  NO CHANGE
    Can anyone help me please?

    Hi fishprinter,
May i know which application of Adobe you have, do you have Creative suite or creative cloud.
Since you have tried already uninstalling and reinstalling, I would suggest you should uninstall again using cleaner tools: http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs5-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html Acrobat/Reader cleaner Tool: http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html
Then create a new user profile on your computer and reinstall Application again and check. Also i would suggest uninstall your security software and reinstall it back.
    Regards,

  • Firefox will not open Adobe PDF files on my mini Mac (I have reader x and the latest Quicktime versions)

When I try to download a pdf file sometimes an error message appears and states can't down load file, Quicktime may need an extension. Other times the page just stays blank - nothing happens.
This happens very frequently. I can open some pdf files in Firefox. The problem appears with downloading.
I have the same software in Safari and Firefox and I do not have this problem with Safari - I can download PDFs in that browser

What I did was to reinstall/upgrade Adobe Reader, then there is an new option showing up in Firefox > options > applications > Portable Document Format(PDF), which is "use adobe acrobat in Firefox". • Ff6 upgrade with tabs not opening & Adobe Flash

I have so many issues with this FF6 I don't know why you released this garbage before it was working not enough negative testing I would presume.. When I click to open a new tab only I get new windows instead & yes I have checked my options & they are correct so don't go there.. Next you tell me my Adobe Flash is outdated & I uninstalled it & tried to install the updated version which is showing only as 10.1 but FF feels it should be 10.6 a communication gap between Adobe & FF ??????? In any event FF is blocking the install of Adobe 10.1 "so now what": msg says "I'm missing a plug in" WOW what a surprise only thing I can't get a plug in WOW what a surprise.. This FF6 stinks.... Mozilla is getting like Microsoft & IE which who knows may be better now.. And no more real people either..

    Because it probably isn't.
You can check here:  http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/  to see which version you should install for your Mac and OS. Note that version 10,1,102,64 is the last version available to PPC Mac users*. The latest version,10.3.183.23 or later, is for Intel Macs only running Tiger or Leopard, as Adobe no longer support the PPC platform. Version 11.4.402.265 or later is for Snow Leopard onwards.
    * Unhelpfully, if you want the last version for PPC (G4 or G5) Macs, you need to go here:  http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/142/tn_14266.html  and scroll down to 'Archived Versions/Older Archives'. Flash Player 10.1.102.64 is the one you download. More information here:  http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/838/cpsid_83808.html
You should first uninstall any previous version of Flash Player, using the uninstaller from here (make sure you use the correct one!):
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/909/cpsid_90906.html
and also that you follow the instructions closely, such as closing ALL applications (including Safari) first before installing. You must also carry out a permission repair after installing anything from Adobe.
(If you are running a PPC Mac with Flash Player 10.1.102.64 and are having problems with watching videos on FaceBook or other sites, try the following solution which fools the site into thinking that you are running the version 11.5.502.55:)
Download this http://scriptogr.am/nordkril/post/adobe-flash-11.5-for-powerpc to your desktop, unzip it, and replace the current Flash Player plug-in which is in your main/Library/Internet Plug-Ins folder, (not the user Library). Save the old one just in case this one doesn't work.

  • Videos will not open--adobe flashplayer 11 installed

I have installed adobe flashplayer 11, but cannot open any videos---It is installed & in my programs--help!!

I have basically the same problem, videos won't open(a green screen appears) and the browser crashes. I'm using win7 and opera or windows 10. I tried the release version of the player and the beta version with no difference. Everything was fine until yesterday(25th). I noticed that AdobeAir was updated on the 25th and deleted it but no change.

  • Can not open Adobe Bridge in Photoshop CS2

Adobe Bride is supposed to be included with Photoshop CS2, but there are no links to it when in Photoshop.  File>Browse does not go to Bridge.   I downloaded a new copy of Bridge from Adobe and installed it.  There is still no link to Bridge in Photoshop, but there is a Bridge icon in the start menu.  However, double clicking the icon gives the error "The program cannot start because the file libagluc28.dll is missing from your computer".    However, a search for that file finds it in three locations: C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Help Center, C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS2, and C:Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat.  Any ideas as to how to start AdBridge?

Adobe has disabled the activation server for CS2 products, including Acrobat 7, because of a technical issue. These products were released more than seven years ago, do not run on many modern operating systems, and are no longer supported.
Adobe strongly advises against running unsupported and outdated software. The serial numbers provided as a part of the download may only be used by customers who legitimately purchased CS2 or Acrobat 7 and need to maintain their current use of these products.
Download Acrobat 7 and CS2 products
