  • Change paper size before selecting print preview

I want to change Paper Size prior to selecting Print Preview. That is not possible in Firefox. Can Paper Size options be added to Page Setup and/or Print Preview? Please fix.

You might be able to set that thru your Printer Preferences, so look there from within Firefox first. {Ctrl + P} then hit the Properties button, on the Paper Tab you should be able to set the Paper Size.
If not, give this a try:
type about:config in the URL bar and hit Enter
    Pref Name = print.printer_your_printer_name.print_paper_height - 11.00
    and print.printer_your_printer_name.print_paper_width - 8.50
Is that what you see? If you see those "Letter" measurements, try re-setting the main pref, and let Firefox reacquire the info from your OS.
    in about:config
    Preference name = print.print_printer
Right-Click and select Reset, then restart Firefox.

  • How can I select paper size while in print preview ?

I have a printer with four different paper trays, and each one is loaded with different size of paper: A3, A4, Legal, envelopes. When I use IE 11, I can easy go to print preview, click on page setup (little gear icon), select paper size , margins, etc.. there, and when i hit OK, the page is adjusted to the settings I selected and its ready to print, and printer selects the proper size of the paper automatically
In Firefox v32, I can almost do this same, but I'm stuck with printing only on A4 style paper, as I don't see where to select the paper I want to print on !
I tried to select A3 and legal paper in the printer driver, but then firefox used the selected paper, but printout on the paper came out as set to A4 size, and rest of the page was empty ! Also I was not able to see the page preview of the selected paper either. How do I then print on other size papers than a4 ?
I found only one workaround which does not suits my needs but works: First: Go to printer driver and select legal or A3 paper as default, and then open firefox. If I do that i can print on any paper I select, but thats a horrible workaround, because then I often forget to change the default paper size back inside the printer driver, and i print my documents on wrong paper, wasting paper, ink and time...
Please let me know if there is a way to fix this printing feature somehow.
    Thanks.

    MichalB,
Sorry, IMO there is no real "fix" for what you are experiencing. Printer prefs set or changed in the operating system won't affect Firefox printing ''[IMO, either ancient code in Firefox or a "cross-browser thing".]'' Firefox has its' own settings for prefs and it defaults to the "last used" for all printer preference setting. And there is no way to set a pref as "use now and return to my defaults after this print job is completed".
As you have found out, there is no way of changing paper size from the Print Preview screen. Other prefs - Margins & Header/Footer can be changed via Page Setup and you can see changes in the Preview window, but not for paper size. As ''CoryMH'' mentioned, '''paper size''' is selected thru what called the "native print dialog" box using the '''Properties''' button which shows a window provided by your printer software for the Printer which is selected in the "native print dialog" window, and accessed after you hit the Print button in the Print Preview screen.
Problem is that you can't '''"preview"''' what is going to be printed when you change paper size. If you go back to Print Preview without printing from the "native print dialog" the change for Paper Size isn't saved for viewing in Print Preview!
IMO, it would be nice if Firefox recognized each "tray" as a separate printer, so that a user could set Margins & Header/Footer prefs AND paper size per tray. IOW, a feature sort of writing a completely new print module that would reflect "today's" environment with multiple tray printers; rather than to continue using the print module that was built by Netscape back in '94 - '95, which we are stuck with almost 20 years later.

  • Selected print size will not fit current paper size

I am new to iPhoto and I keep getting the following message when I try to print at home - "selected print size will not fit current paper size" - I don't understand this. I am printing to 4x6 photo paper. I have chose 4x6 under paper and I have chosen 4x6 under print. It seems to want to fit the photo horizontally instead of vertically - I can work around this by choosing to print 3x5 onto 4x6 paper, but then the border is quite large.
    I hope this makes sense.
Thanks for any help regarding this issue.

Does your printer driver support 4x6 borderless printing?
You have to make sure your printer has a borderless driver ( the Epsons have two, a regular and one with Borderless-sheet feeder in the title and both must be installed and selectable under the Printer menu. If it's a Canon then you must be sure you select 4x6 borderless under the Paper size. Here's a step by step workflow you can try:
Steps for printing 4 x 6 prints from iPhoto:
crop the photo to 4 x 6 in iPhoto.
select the picture you want to print and type Command-P.
*click on the Advanced button in iPhoto's print pane.
    *select your Printer and Presets
*select "Paper Handling" in the Copies & Pages menu.
*in the Destination Paper Size section select "Scale to fit paper size: and select the paper size in the menu.
    *click on the Standard button.
in the iPhoto print pane select your printer, Presets and Paper size.
    select Standard Prints under Style.
select print size in the Size menu and check the "One photo per page: checkbox.
    click on the Print button
*These steps may be redundant but might correct those situations where the paper size selected in the iPhoto print pane does not seem to take.
    What printer do you have?

  • How do I change the default paper size from letter to A4 on an F2480 attached to a Windows 7 system?

I have an F2480 attached to a Windows 7 machine.  I have used the Solution Center to check that I have the latest printer driver installed.  How do I get the software to understand that the paper loaded in the printer is A4 not letter, and always will be?  I found an earlier question about this on this board where DexterM suggested going in through Printing Preferences.  I have done that but it won't let me save A4 as the paper size for all future use.  Also in that conversation HPPooper suggests editing the Registry, but the keyword he references ("DsDriver") does not exist on my system.

    Hi bobellina,
I did some testing and think I may have found a solution:
    1. Open Devices and Printers
    2. Right click the printer and select Printing Preferences
    3. Click on Features tab
    4. Click on Sizes and choose "More"
    5. Choose "Metric" or "English" at the top (depending on the size options you want available)
    6. Select the paper size you want as default, then click OK
    7. Click Apply, then OK on the remaining window
    8. Right click the printer again and select "Set as Default"
This should make whatever paper size you select be "default" in whatever application you are printing from (unless the application has a default override). Paint and Notepad left the printer defaults, but Word 2010 overrode them.
If I have helped in any way, just click the Kudos star on the left. Also, if your issue has been resolved, don't forget to select Accept as Solution

  • Print Paper Size Problem after Mavericks Upgrade

I migrated my Apps, Data and System Settings from a Macbook running OSX Lion to a new Macbook Pro running Mavericks.
The problem I now have is that the application 'Family Tree Maker 2' cannot get the paper size right. No matter which Paper size I select, it is shown as half size in the Application Print Preview screen and this error carries through to actual printing.
so A4 210 by 297 mm displays as 5.8 x 4.1 inches (which is Half Size).
The problem is significant because the application formats it's output to fit into half of the available space.
    I have unsuccessfully tried;
    - removing and reinstalling the Application.
    - Adding my Brother Laser printer with the latest Mavericks compatible driver.
    - Resetting the printing system.
    - Repairing disk permissions
    - Adding a new User Account
    - Deleting plists associated with com.ancestry
    iWork Pages is working correctly.
I have raised this with ancestry.com however it appears that I am the only person that has experienced this problem.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Problem is worse than that. Whilst the Paper is shown as half size, the family tree diagram boxes are produced twice as wide as they should be.
If I select A4 Paper, a diagram that would fit on one page is now spread across two.
If I select A3 Paper, the preview indicates the paper size as A4 8.3 x 5.8 inches however the diagram size and position on the paper are unchanged and I just get loads of white space around the outside of the diagram.
It does sound like an Application problem but it is still working fine on my old OSX Lion machine. Something has happened in the migration.

  • DISABLING COLOR MANAGEMENT & PAPER SIZE

After some struggling and considerable surfing the internet, I managed to get my HP Deskjet printer output producing the proper colors.
However I still have an ongoing problem with paper size and orientation.
I have Photoshop Elements 7 running under Windows XP.
Under the current set up, under "Page Setup" in the print dialog box, I can select 6x4 borderless and landscape orientation, but the printer will still print it in portrait orientation on 8.5 x 11" paper. I have seen many times where I have selected "Landscape" in Photoshop but the image in the preview windows shows Portrait. Or the preview is oriented portrait but the picture within the preview is a cropped landscape version of the image. Or the preview picture is landscape but the landscape-portrait button shows portrait. Obviously there are portrait images and portrait printings, but Photoshop seems to get them confused and wants to print a landscape image in a portrait orientation.
If I hit "Print" and then go to "Preferences" in the Windows printer dialog box, if I select "landscape borderless 6x4", it will print a 6x4 image on letter sized paper, ignoring the orientation and paper size I selected. And if I re-enter the Windows printer dialog box, will show "letter" again as the current paper size, although I had not selected that previously.
I have "Photoshop Elements manages colors" selected, but then a warning message appears asking if I have disabled color management in the printer preferences dialog. I cannot find any way to disable color management in Windows XP or in Photoshop. (If this has anything to do with my problem.)

  • Konica Minolta magicolor 7450 Unable to print to Custom paper sizes

    Hi
I have a Konica Minolta magicolor 7450 laser printer that (since switching to mac from windows) is unable to print to Custom paper sizes (entered in the print dialog box from within photoshop CS3) and nothing will print from illustrator CS3 at all.
I have OS 10.5.2 with the 10.1 photoshop update, and the 13.0.2 illustrator update.
When I use to use windows xp & photoshop CS2 I didn't seem to have trouble with this function, but since jumping over to mac & CS3, I can't print on any paperstock other than the defult sizes listed (which it dose perfectly) - I've re downloaded & installed the printers driver, downloaded & installed a firmware update for the printer and tried printing with a network cable & usb cable - all with no luck. I've also tried entering in the custom paper size in the printers LCD panel & setting in as default but it still wants to print on A4 or A3 paper...
Any ideas out there would be appreciated!

so I've been pulling my hair out for 2 days & nights now trying to figure out why I couldnt print on custom paper sizes - I've just now hit the "help" icon in the print dialog box and found this:
    "Creating a custom page size
If you want to print on unusual size paper, such as an odd-size envelope or card, you may be able choose the paper’s size from the Paper Size pop-up menu. To find the Paper Size pop-up menu, choose File > Page Setup, if available. Otherwise, choose File > Print.
If you can’t find the size you need, you can create your own custom paper size.
To create a custom page size:
Open the document you want to print.
Choose File > Page Setup, if it’s available. Choose Page Attributes from the Settings pop-up menu, and then choose Any Printer from the Format For pop-up menu.
Choosing Any Printer ensures that your document can print on any printer that supports the paper size you select.
If Page Setup is not available, choose File > Print.
If the Print dialog contains only two pop-up menus and some buttons across the bottom, click the disclosure triangle beside the Printer pop-up menu.
Choose Manage Custom Sizes from the Paper Size pop-up menu.
    Click the Add button.
Type a name for the paper size.
Enter values in the Paper Size and Printer Margins field."
All I had to change was the "any printer" setting from my (konica minolta) printers name to "Any Printer"!! now my custom paper sizes are printing fine and dandy!! phew!!!!!!!!

  • Problems with custom paper sizes in Lightroom

Running Mac OS-X 10.9.3 (Mavericks). using an Epson Stylus Pro 3880, latest driver installed as confirmed by Epson tech support this morning. using Lightroom 5.4.
I only see this problem in Lightroom -  not in Photoshop - which leads me to conclude that the problem is not an Epson-driver problem.
    The problem is the following:
In the Print Module, I click on 'page Setup' bottom left. I define my custom paper size under 'Paper Size' -> 'Manage Custom Sizes'. Click OK.
I then enter 'Print Settings...' bottom left adjacent to the 'Page Setup' button. Select my printer, click on the 'Layout' drop-down list box button and select the 3rd tab in the list: 'Paper Handling'. Here is the problem: the 'Destination Paper Size' option is grayed out and unelectable, and incorrectly shows 'US Letter', which cannot be changed. If I click on 'Scale to fit paper size', and try to make a print to my custom paper that way, it still does not work: it only prints on a fraction of the whole paper.
I have also tried Apple menu -> System Preferences -> Printers & Scanners to change the default paper size there, but it makes no difference - it still incorrectly shows as 'US Letter' in Lightroom.
This problem does not occur in Photoshop: In Photoshop, if you go to File -> Print in the menu, and then hit the 'Print Settings' button near the top, my custom paper size is selectable in the 'Paper Size' list box. So it is a problem which is specific to Lightroom.
Any help appreciated. I have spent most of the day on the phone to Epson and Adobe Tech Support, and no-one has been able to dove the problem
    Thanks,

I have had the same problem, and with the same result; Adobe Tech Support can't help or fix, after 15 hours on phone, Level 2 support. It is a software bug Adobe has, and can't seem to fix.  I just upgraded to Lightroom CC, and my problem migrated with the upgrade.  I print in Photoshop fine.
If you found an answer, I would appreciate  knowing how to do it!
    Thanks

  • How do I choose a paper size on my iPad when I print?

I need to print on 8.5" x 14" paper, but cannot choose the paper size in Adobe Reader on my iPad 2 when I print.
    Please help!

According to a document by Canon on their AirPrint printers, this appears to be a limitation of AirPrint:
    "Paper Size
With AirPrint, the paper size is selected automatically according to the app being used on the Apple device and the region in
    which AirPrint is used.
When Apple's photo app is used, the default paper size is L size in Japan, and 4"x6" or KG in other countries and regions.
When documents are printed from Apple's Safari app, the default paper size is letter size in the U.S. region, and A4 in Japan
    and Europe."

  • Excel 2010 paper size issue with PCL6 drivers after KB2592687 installed on client

When I connect to the RDS server and open Excel with the PCL6 printer and select File / Print the paper size says Custom Paper Size and I can not change the paper size here, in the Page Layout tab or in the drivers properties pages. Using the PS driver there
is no issue. I've tried using several stock PCL6 drivers from Windows 7 and have the same issue such as the HP LaserJet P4014/4015 PCL6. Using the Lanier LP131n PCL6 or PS I had the issue with PS as well.
I do not have the drivers loaded on the server so it is using Remote Desktop Easy Print. If I do load the drivers and allow it to use them then there is no issue but I cannot configure the printers options without taking ownership of the printer so that
    is not desirable.
If I do not install KB2592687 then there is no issue, but that is not an option as I am dealing with a customer who's IT manager refuses to remove this, even to test it, and says our printer driver has the issue and is not compliant with MS TS.
Could I be missing any configuration, hotfix, policy that could explain this issue or any other workaround? Or is there a change required to our printer driver for this?
    Test setup:
I created a new Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard server with SP1, Added the RDS Role, Installed Office 2010 Professional with SP1 using the Terminal Services product key. No updates were installed. I have tested installing every possible update as well for
    both Server and Office.
I then created a new Windows 7 Professional x86 with SP1 client, installed PCL6 & PS printers, installed KB2574819 and KB2592687. No other updates were installed. I have tested installing every possible update as well.

    Hi,
Did you find any particular Event ID for your issue?
To troubleshoot this issue, have you tried changing the default printer and printing from other programs such as Word or any other?
The issue which you are facing might occurs because the Microsoft XPS Document Converter (MXDC) determines the paper size by using the FormID value on the server. As you commented that you are using Easy print driver first you can find incorrect paper size
if RD Easy Print printer driver first is enabled.
To work around this issue, use the forms that are defined by the system when you print. The paper sizes for these forms match on the server and on the client computer. Additionally, a printer driver can rename these forms. Please refer below article for more
    information.
The client printer may print the documents by using an incorrect paper size if the "Use Remote Desktop Easy Print printer driver first" policy is enabled
Apart from this providing link to understand RD Easy print in Windows 7 & Server 2008 R2.
    Hope it helps!
    Thanks.

  • How do i select a custom paper size on the 6500A , specifics 18cmX26cm

I want to print on a specific paper size, 18cmX26cm.  The suggestions from microsoft don't accuratly display my features or windows or the tabs that they say to click.  Also your forums seem to mislead the same information.  For the money I paid for this printer is not what I expected and very disappointed.  The lack of info is appalling, and confusing and just down right frustrating, leading me to conclude that your all as crazy as I am for trying to do something over and over, and expecting different results.

    Hi,
Which Microsoft product (application) are you using ? Printer supports the following custom sizes:
From ADF: Custom-sized media (ADF) between 127 to 216 mm wide and 241 to 305 mm long (5 to 8.5 inches wide and 9.5 to 12 inches long)
From input tray: Custom-sized media between 76.2 to 216 mm wide and 101 to 762 mm long (3 to 8.5 inches wide and 4 to 30 inches long)
You need to select right custom size from the application.

  • I am unable to select the correct paper size when printing photo's in iPhoto 11. When I select the paper size in the custom window for 4x6 prints the prints only appear on an 8 1/2x11 page. My Mac is a year old iMac running 10.8.2.

I am unable to print 4x6 photo's using iPhoto 11. When I do they only print out on lettter size paper even though I enter 4x6 in the custom window in the print size menu. My older Snow Leopard system using iPhoto 9 the paper size window offered a 4x6 paper size which worked well.

Selecting paper size in the first sreen tellis iPhoto what papery you are going to use - it does not tell the printer what paper to use - printer specific options on on the last (second or third if you customize the print) screen where you tell the print any specifics like paper source (typically printers need to you tell them where a specific paper is loaded - they do not really know the sizes in each paper tray)

  • Custom Paper Size in Page Setup grayed out and cannot be selected.

I am playing with the iWork '08 demo and looking at Pages. I need to create an 8.25 x 10.5 custom paper size, which I did, but when I try to select it in Page Setup, it is grayed out. If I open a document made in the previous Pages that was done using this size, it still works.
