I've installed SQL Server 2012 SP1 + SP server 2012 + SSRS and PowerPivot add-in.
I also configured excel services correctly. Everything works fine but the powerview doesn't work!

Please help me to solve this issue. I don't know if uploading the excel workbook is enough or maybe It needed to connect to another data source.
I Appreciate in advance.Hi Ali.y,
Based on the current error message, the error can be related to the
Claims to Windows Token Service (C2WTS) and is an expected error under certain conditions. To verify the issue, please check the aspects below:
1. The C2WTS Windows service and C2WTS SharePoint service are both running.
2. Check the SQL Server Browser service is running on the machine that has the PowerPivot instance of SSAS.
3. Check the domain. You're signing into SharePoint with a user account in some domain (call it Domain A). When Domain A is equal to Domain B which SharePoint server itself is located (they're the same domain), or Domain
A trusts Domain B.
In addition, the error may be caused by Kerberos authentication issue due to missing SPN. In order to make the Kerberos authentication work, you need to configure the Analysis Services to run under a domain account, and register the SPNs for the Analysis
Services server.
To create the SPN for the Analysis Services server that is running under a domain account, run the following commands at a command prompt:
• Setspn.exe -S MSOLAPSvc.3/Fully_Qualified_domainName OLAP_Service_Startup_Account
Note: Fully_Qualified_domainName is a placeholder for the FQDN.
• Setspn.exe -S MSOLAPSvc.3/serverHostName OLAP_Service_Startup_Account
For more information, please see:

Excel Services Connectivity on Sharepoint 2013 for external user
Currently , external user is able to refresh the data on sharepoint site through browser. the data connection is pointing the one of the external data source. But how can an external user (Internet user which accessing sharepoint through internet) download
a copy of excel in sharepoint library and open the excel workbook with data refresh ability at client machine ?
Do we need client machine to be able to access / ping the external data source?
Thanks.Thanks for the response.
They want to perform data analysis and design their own report with own template , for example : to remove subtotal from the powerpivot tables which we cannot change the formatting at the excel services at browser level.
So if i understand correctly, we need to get the client machine to be able to access to the database server directly to get the access to the cube for data analysis although we had this odc file connection setup, am i right?
For internal user, network team should open port / access for them to access database server directly.
For external user, either to open public access to the database server directly or setup a VPN connection for the external user to access the database server in their secure network.
Let me know if i understand this correctly.
Thanks. -
Crawl log error in sharepoint 2013 for search services
Dear Support,
please find below mention crawl log error in sharepoint 2013 for search services.

would request your support for resolving this type of issue1. Are you able to browse the sites on SP server. server is unavailable means that application pool
of that site is down. Check application pool on all server. if you start any application pool. make sure it does not stop few minutes later. you need to update password if it does stop

Hi I'm trying to setup SQL reporting services in a SharePoint 2013 farm consisting of:
4 WFE's
4 App Servers (NLB Central Admin x 4 servers)
4 App Severs for SSRS (Light limited SharePoint services running)
I've installed SSRS 2012 SP1 by following the guide (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg492276.aspx) on one of the SSRS SharePoint 2013 servers and ensuring Reporting Services - SharePoint and Reporting Services Add-in for SharePoint Products is selected.
All completed without errors and I have even upgraded to SP2 for troubleshooting but no joy.
I've then gone into SharePoint Central Admin and I cannot see SQL Reporting Service available In the list of runnning services on the server I have just installed SSRS on and going to manage service applications I cannot see in the new dropdown menu SQL
Reporting Services.
I have ran the following commands in the SHarePoint management shell:
Install-SPRSService and Install-SPRSSeviceProxy
and
get-spserviceinstance -all |where {$_.TypeName -like "SQL Server Reporting*"} | Start-SPServiceInstance
The reply was that the service was already online on the server.
So in powershell all seems ok but it does not appear in central administration.
I have also moved Central Administration to the SSRS SharePoint server too.
Any other suggestions? Here is the same problem but in SP2010 (http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/6a21cc05-1f9b-49ad-a9bb-44aa5b3ce312/action?threadDisplayName=after-installing-sql-reporting-services-service-for-sharepoint-2012-service-is-not-in-the-list-of)
In my lab environment of a 4 server SP2013 farm it worked immediately when i installed it on the app server (CA host) so I dont think it is my install strategy.
I guess my next attempt is to install SSRS on an app server with central administration hosted.
ThanksI had the same issue on 2 different environments.
I had 2 application servers. One had Central Administration. I installed SSRS on the other one and it never appeared in the Service Applications in SharePoint.
When I also provisioned Central Administration on the other application server and went to the service applications using Central Admin on that server, the SSRS service application was there.
Since then I always install SSRS on the server which hosts Central Admin. No issues then. -
PowerShell command To configure Access Service 2010 in sharepoint 2013 server
HI ,
can any body give reference for Powershell command for
Access Service 2010
I am currently able to run powershell command for
Access Service .
But in sharepoint 2013,Access Service 2010 is a new service, but i am not able to see any refernce blog for command.Hi,
According to your description, you want to configure Access Service 2010 in SharePoint 2013 server by using a Windows PowerShell.
Take a look at an articles about configuring services and service applications in SharePoint 2013:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee794878(v=office.15).aspx
Updates on how to do a lot of these (include
configure Access Service 2010 ) with PowerShell haven't really been released yet.
Here is an article about configuring a service application by using a Windows PowerShell script (SharePoint Server 2010), you can use as a reference:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg983005(v=office.14).aspx

Reporting Services in both SharePoint 2013 connected and native mode?
Is it possible to configure Reporting Services (SQL Server 2014) to support both SharePoint 2013 connected mode and local Report Server in native mode on the same server using multiple instances of RS? The reason for this setup is to avoid having to purchase
SharePoint Enterprise CALs for other users than analysts and still be able to publish standard reports to all employees.
Management and analysts -> Custom reports published through SharePoint 2013 Enterprise (SP2013 ECALs and SQL Server 2014 core license). Data alerts and Power View enabled if possible.
All employees -> Standard reports published through Native Mode Report Server (SQL Server 2014 core license). Possible subscriptions.
I find the official documentation a bit lacking in this area but can't find anything stating against the above. It would be greatly appreciated if someone could confirm before planning the installs.
What I'm aiming for is somewhat similar to the "2 Tier Topology" described at: Example
License Topologies and Costs for SQL Server 2014 Self-Service Business Intelligence
With the difference that there is a separate SQL Server 2014 server used both by SharePoint and as a standalone BI-server.
SharePoint EE + SQL Server 2014 EE
Excel Services
SSRS Add-in (Reporting Services, Power View)
SQL Server DB for SP Content, Configuration and Service Application DB:s
SQL Server 2014 EE - SharePoint + Standalone for BI
SSRS SharePoint Mode
SSRS Native Mode
SSAS (Not in SharePoint mode, skipping PowerPivot for now. Would Power View still work?)
SQL Server DB for Data Warehouse
= 1 x SharePoint EE Server Licence, 2 x SQL Server 2014 EE Server Licenses?
Deployment
Topologies for SQL Server BI Features in SharePoint - Actually gives a good overview in the section "PowerPivot for SharePoint
2013 and Reporting Services Three Server Deployment". Just remove PowerPivot Service from Server 1 and change the Analysis Services in Server 2 to a regular native multidimensional mode. Server 2 would also be used for native Reporting Services.
Fallback or even beneficial option to install SSRS in SharePoint mode on the SQL Server instance used for content and configuration?Hi Daniel Wikar,
As per my understanding, you want to install two SQL Server instances on the same server, and configure one of the Reporting Services to SharePoint integrated mode, another to native mode.
According to my knowledge, multiple instances of Reporting Services on the same computer, where one instance runs in SharePoint integrated mode and the other instance runs in native mode is supported. But we must run all report server instances at the same
level. For example, if we are using SQL Server 2014, all report server instances must be SQL Server 2014.
Besides, Analysis Services and Reporting Services can be installed as standalone servers, in scale-out configurations, or as shared service applications in a SharePoint farm. Installing the services in a farm enables BI features that are only available in
SharePoint, including PowerPivot for SharePoint and Power View.

Service Accounts in Sharepoint 2013
Ok in SharePoint 2013, we have an intranet set up. Ok so on the central administration page, under Security, and configure service accounts, I selected Farm Account for the drop down menu at the top. We have 3 managed accounts for the intranet, which are
sp_farm, sp_serviceapp, and sp_webapp. Now by mistake, I selected the sp_serviceapp for the (select an account for this component) and clicked ok. Now when I go to change it back to sp_farm, it gives me an error page, it says the website declined to show this
webpage, and most likely causes: this website requires you to login. And it doesn't change it back. Would someone please let me know how I can change the component account for my farm account from sp_serviceapp to sp_farm? Thank you.If i understand this correctly you created a web application using the sp_farm account as the managed account for that application pool. WHen you tried to change it to another account the web application fails to load.
If you've done it through Central Admin then that should just work, as described here:
http://blog.morg.nl/2011/07/changing-the-identity-for-a-sharepoint-2010-application-pool-2/
Or have i misunderstood what you've changed the various accounts for? -

I have had a few virtual machines that built fine... one I’ve been using to test with works about 33% of the time and fails with the same error other times.
I have tweaked the RAM and the # of Virtual Procs and nothing seems to consistently fix it. Specifically I've disabled dynamic memory, set the RAM to 8GB and the number of procs to
4. I've also downloaded the SharePoint ISO from multiple sources (MSDN/TechNet/Trial) thinking the installer was possibly corrupt - same issue.
At this point I'm thinking it is either an issue with Hyper-V on Windows 8.1 + SharePoint or else something specific to my hardware but it is terribly hard to troubleshoot an error that
is intermittent. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated!@Trevor, I'm new to MSI debugging... now that I have a verbose log, what should I be doing with it? :)
The area of the error appears to be:

Modify Excel sheet from the sharepoint 2013 by remote event receiver
Hi,
I am new in sharepoint 2013.Actually i want to update excel sheet (that are stored in sharepoint library) by remote event receiver.
Please help me how to do this.
Thanks
Sanjeev Tiwari
Sanjeev TiwariThe proper response is that it's not possible because Excel Interops are not supported running on a server. The technical answer is that you could find work-arounds including treating it as an Open XML object. In either case, I think you need to develop
the Excel processing component first and then connect to that the external event receiver.

Services Deployment in SharePoint 2013 Decision
As mentioned in the link, there are 2 ways that we can deploy services in SharePoint 2013 farm, one is traditional approach and other streamlined approach. How do we know which one we should go for?
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj219591.aspx
Thanks, Ram ChFor small to medium farms there's not that much practical difference. It's only in large farms or farms with abnormal workloads that they vary notably. Compare the 10k user models in both and play spot the difference.
The traditional design was never that sensible in its purest form, it was based on an overly stylised view of the classic three tier architecture model. It worked but was frequently shifting into the Streamlined approach anyway when you actually came down
to it.
Go with Streamlined, it's not going to be a materially different design to a traditional approach but it gets you there faster. -
Error in Sharepoint 2013.
Hi Friend,
I have upgraded sharepoint 2010 application into sharepoint 2013. i am getting the below error message when i excuted the SP2013 application.
Sorry, something went wrong
Failed to get value of the "Request Type" column from the "Managed Metadata" field type control. See details in log. Exception message: Invalid field name. {00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000}

so kindly advise how to resolve this issue.
One more question, any limitation to upgrade SP2013 from SP2010 application. kindly advise.Hiya,
I'd guess on the following. One of your content types are referencing an managed field type. This reference is set by ID and not name. When you move the solution to a new server, the ID's of the managed metadata might change, if the managed metadata is not
moved with ID's. This will break your references and might lead to the error you are seeing.
Something along the lines of this:
