Where can I find more information about using Excel tables for database usage in external programs such as game engines? Do I have to use SQL, CSV or XML?

enter, store, and find specific information.
You could choose Excel,SQL,Access, CSV or XML as database according to your goal.

The task was to create a internal table with dynamic columns,
Actually this is my first task in the WebAS 6.20, my program is based on input file provided by user with certain effort. this file can have different effort for a one yr to five year frame..
I needed to read the raw data from file, based on months create a internal table to hold the data, after this i need to validate the data...
I have browsed thru dynamic internal table topic, but couldn't find any dynamic appending structure, the dynamic structure would contains 12 month fileds.

So all my tables disappeared.
I figured out how to paste a new table in. Although it's not as nice and easy as before, I can deal.
I used tables to then link to other websites. However, copying & pasting from excel to iweb, I can't highlight to then link a word phrase to another site.
Any suggestion on what I should do?
I have to start from scratch so any suggestions would be appreciated. Even if it means not using excel.

Types of tables for databases

I'm making a table for a recordset which is ultimately for a
Log In User behavior. What do i need to do with my table values to
properly create a website that users can log into and have
information that they can alter to make their profiles personal.
(think like a forum or like youtube). and also work so that users
can upload images and that a moderator (me) can monitor them.
My knowledge of how databases work is extremely limited, so
any help is appreciated but don't be surprised if I dont fully
understand what you are saying. I have, however had experience with
Dreamweaver and am running a website through my school.

You are embarking on a somewhat complex journey. One of the
most common problems we see here are from developers that are
building dynamic websites without a solid understanding of database
design. The result is usually a flawed design and they then have
the perpetual job of creating kludges to make it run.
So it's good that you asked the question but it can't really
be answered here in a single post. The best thing I can suggest is
that before you start building you get a good book on database
design fundamentals and study it for at least a few months. Then
make sure you start with a reasonable technical requirements and
design document. The extra work you put up front will pay off in
the long run.

How choose destination folder for images edited in external program?

Using LR 2.3 with the Windows 7 beta. It seems to me there should be a preference or option to set the destination folder for an image sent for editing in Photoshop. The default is the folder where the originals are located, which seems to me to be the worst choice. In any event, I can't find where in LR the user can choose a destination folder for the edited image. Ideally, the user should be able to choose this for each set of images being edited, and the choice would be available in the dialog that appears when the user sends an image out to Photoshop.
So is there a way to set the destination folder for the image that results from sending an image out for editing in Photoshop or other external application?
Any help with this would be very much appreciated.

Thanks very much. I have CS4, but haven't installed it yet. So I have been using the rendering option. Apparently that is part of the problem, because I seem to recall that there was a Save As option shown when LR 2 was compatible with whatever the ACR with CS3 was.
Saving with originals seems an odd default. I wouldn't think too many photographers mix processed work with originals, and making the destination folder choice always available wouldn't seem to be a particularly difficult piece of engineering.
Anyway, your answer was very helpful.

A challenge...Calling a external program such as 'WordPad'

Whether the report program could be programmed and excuted like below:
1)Extract the data which will be used for output
2)save those data into *.txt file
2)Then automatic to open the *.txt files with <b>WordPad</b> program, Be Attention: NOT NotePad.
3)Set font to MS Mingcho
4)Save all the data into *.txt file using WordPad
5)After that, then back to the abap program, then send mail to somebody this txt files.
As for why need to save *.txt files again in WordPad, coz sometimes we found that the format will be distorted when saving data into txt files first time. If you open txt files by WordPad and save it into txt files again, you will find that the format turns to be good.
Could above steps be done using ABAP programming???

1. one and two can be done using GUI_DOWNLOAD function module.
2. Open the file using fm GUI_EXEC and pass word pad with filename
3. regarding the font, i don't think its directly possible, not even with OLE,
because wordpad / notepad may note be supporting OLE.

How to make external programs open pages in a prescribed profile (window)?

I crated one more profile a couple of days ago. After that, the external programs, such as the email client, all open links with the new profile, whether or not it is open. I was wondering whether there is a way to open the links with my default profile.

Sorry about the misgiving adresses, folders and access rights. My question is not about these three (they were just here to tell the story). You're perfectly right to say that in a local network, there's not need to complete the full IP or ".com" name of the PCs (even if it works all the same).
When I said "of course" for the perms, it was just to mean, in the same way, that it's not this kind of problems here.
My question is much more a human/mac graphic interface problem than a network problem. I want the people (as well as myself) to be able to go in a folder on the pc network with a simple click on an smb link in an email message (as they do now on an ftp or afp link).

Looking for a good ebook reader program tht also downloads metadata (besides Calibre)?

I like all the information that Calibre is able to download for my ebooks but the interface is so clunky and non-Maclike that it's a little painful. Other apps like Bookreader and Scarlett have a much nicer look and feel but don't download metadata at all, they just show what's already there.
Does anyone know of a ebook reader app for OSX that is able to download metadata like Calibre can? Any help would be greatly appreciated -- thanks in advance!

Very good write-up. I've had my W540 for almost a week. My thoughts:
The Case: The screen feels a bit flimsy to me, I think that's due to small hinges mounted near the edges.
The Keyboard: I don't mind the offset keyboard, my current and previous Dells have had these, but they were 17.3" and 17" screens. I'm in engineering so I'd much rather have the extra numbers keypad than a centred keyboard. Although I don't like the CTRL and FN keys being the other way around.
Night light: Haven't really noticed not having one as I haven't had one in the past. My Dell has backlight keys.
Function keys: Don't particularly like this but once I found they could be locked on using the FN / Esc combo I just use this. It stays locked even if I reboot which is handy.
Hard drive activity light would be handy, as would numbers and caps lock. I've disabled the on-screen notification, that was just a pain. Sort of cr*p you would expect from Microsoft and all their silly tips, etc. that I disable as well.
Touchpad: I've commented elsewhere that this is the worse I've even seen. Absolutely useless. I've disabled both the touchpad and touchstick (again, useless) and just use a mouse.
Screen: Dreadful! I've got the 1920 x 1080 LCD. The icon size is ok, I've got it set to the smallest I can. However the screen looks washed out at the bottom. Again, I've posted about this before.
Mine doesn't have a SSD and only has 4 GB of memory, so I find it very slow. This is not a workstation unless you go for all the bells and whistles, otherwise it's ok for MS Ofifice and the internet but not for serious work. Forget programs such as AutoCAD and the like, too slow and the screen is too poor.
Anyway, thats my opinion, I'm sure others will love this unit and disagree with me.

Data merge is really useful in many circumstances, but my first question would be about the size of the project. A really large catalog might be better handled by processing an IDML in some kind of translation memory tool.
If all of your multilingual content is already in Excel, then it's probably best handled with a Data Merge. Note that you can't save Unicode CSV out of Excel for the merge, so for many languages you'll need to save "Unicode Text" out of Excel and tweak your import settings when you select a Data Source for encoding (Unicode) and delimiter (tab instead of comma).

Best method to update database table for 3 to 4 million rows

Hi All,
I have 3 to 4 million rows are there in my excel file and we have to load to Z-Table.
The intent is to load and keep 18 months of history in this table.
so what should be best way for huge volume of data to Z-Table from excel file.
If is from the program, is that the best way use the FM 'GUI_DOWNLOAD' and down load those entries into the internal table and directly do as below
INSERT Z_TABLE from IT_DOWNLOAD.
I think for the huge amount of data it goes to dump.
please suggest me the best possible way or any psudo code to insert those huge entries into that Z_TABLE.

Tracking external programs used to access database

I would like to track/audit the external programs our users are using to access our Oracle databases over a period of time. Hoping to track users hitting database with SPSS, MSAccess, etc for a report requested by our mgmt.
I find "program" and "module" in the v$_session table but don't see similar info in the SYS aud$ table. And v$_session info doesn't get "saved" over the course of a day/week/month.
Any ideas how to accomplish this?

Uploading excel data to database table

Dear Experts,
                     I have an Excel file which was downloaded from SQL database, now I need to export this data into my 'ztable', for this first I created an internal table of ztable structure and tried to upload into this table through ''TEXT_CONVERT_XLS_TO_SAP".
But I was unable to get data into the internal table(incompatible type), so now I created an internal table of character type fileds now I able to get data to this internal table, but to put this internal table data to actual database table it gives error, here the actual problem is the fields of internal table are getting concated with blank spaces(observed through debug), I unable to condense these blanks also, (I have created an Excel of my own and put data into it and uploaded that data there is no problem working fine but this problem occurs only for the excel downloaded from SQL db)
                   The problem occurs for quantity and currency fields(I tried through standard FMs also to convert data types ), Could plz suggest something..........

To upload excel sheet into database table, define a types which is of same as table fields.
and try it with the function module TEXT_CONVERT_XLS_TO_SAP
