Excel uncertainty for text attributes
I'm trying to evaluate a text attribute in an excel spreadsheet to <uncertain>. If I type uncertain into the "else" clause of the table then I get uncertain come through as a text value - not the OPA reserved useage of <uncertain> in the debugger. Is there a way around this? If the same rule is modelled in a Word table it works okay but I really want to use Excel.
Thanks,
Mark.
Hi!
I recreated the behaviour too. There may be a better workaround but I checked and this one definitely works.
In a Word document (a system rule doc somewhere) create the following rule table:
the uncertain text attribute
uncertain | the current date > 2000-01-01
uncertain | otherwise
Declare the uncertain text attribute as a text.
This is guaranteed to be always uncertain.
Then in your Excel Else row, write the following (the uncertain text attribute)
The brackets are used to reference the attribute name explicitly.
Hope this helps.
Thanks
Ben

FXML - Line break for text-attribute (LABEL)
Hi!
How to define a text with a line break for a label in FXML?
For example, I cant get this to work (\n):
<Label text="Break\nLine"/> Thanks,
JörnHi,
If you use SceneBuilder Developer Preview 1.1 you will see that SceneBuilder generates this:
<Label layoutX="266.0" layoutY="172.0" text="Break Line" />To enter a new line in a text label in SceneBuilder is easy (even though a bit hidden).
If you hover the mouse over the label text property in the Inspector (right hand side), you will see a little cog menu fading in. If you click on it - you will be able to 'Switch to multi-lines mode' - you can then enter a text with new lines - then save the file and see how it's been handled...
hope this helps,

Retrieve attribute description to Excel Addin for MDS
I propose a new feature:
retrieve attribute description to Excel Addin for MDS - as
separate row, which would be above attribute-row.
This is especially useful for users - translation into other languages.Do you think, it would help if we add description as comments of the column name. So user have to hover the mouse to see it?
Also, we already have a work item to support multiple language in the model/entity/attribute name. So based on the client OS, it would show different language for the column name. But I cannot promise when we will deliver it at this moment. -
Different types of text in one text attribute for a component?
If i have a JSP or JSF component, whatever it is, lets say it has the attribute "text" or even "value". I can set the text to whatever i want such as: text="name joe, age 12"
My question is: Is there a way to have the words "joe" and "12" to be different colors/fonts/etc then the words "name" and "age"?
I need this to be all in the text attribute, so i can't have them seperate. How could i write a function and call this function from text to achieve this? any help will be appriciatedThis is not related to Java.

Validation error message is not displayed for an attribute as an Input List Of Value
Hi everyone,
I use jdev 11.1.1.7.0
In my application I've created an Entity Obj and a View Obj base Employees table.
for the JobId attribute I've taken actions as listed below:
1. in Employees EO I've created a validation for this attribute and in some cases an error message returns (the error message is "the salary is not high"):
* Validation method for JobId.
public boolean validateJobId(String jobid) {
if (...) {
return false;
if (...) {
return false;
if (...) {
return false;
return true;
2. in Employees VO I've created a LOV for this attribute (the view accessor is JobsViewObj ) and I display the attribute as an Input Text with List Of Values.
in jspx page I drag& drop this attribute as below:
<af:inputListOfValues id="jobIdId"
popupTitle="Search and Select: #{bindings.JobId.hints.label}"
value="#{bindings.JobId.inputValue}"
label="#{bindings.JobId.hints.label}"
model="#{bindings.JobId.listOfValuesModel}"
required="#{bindings.JobId.hints.mandatory}"
columns="#{bindings.JobId.hints.displayWidth}"
shortDesc="#{bindings.JobId.hints.tooltip}"
autoSubmit="true">
<f:validator binding="#{bindings.JobId.validator}"/>
</af:inputListOfValues>
I open the Popup and I select a row from the Popup list and then I click Ok. After that if the validation method(validateJobId) returns false, the error message("the salary is not high") must be show to the user. but the error message doesn't display. I don't understand why this happens.
Can anybody guide me about this problem?
Regards
Habibyes, you're right, I've tested it in 12.1.3 and error message was displayed.
it seems it's a bug(bad bug ) in both 11.1.1.7 and 12.1.2. and now what can I do? is there any way to display the the error message?

Problem with text direction in table component for text with two language!
Hi,
I want to display text in table component by binding to the one property,and also the language of this text is farsi that must be in the RTL direction.
so i defined a direction in style of staticText component in the table.
when the text is only in farsi language ,it works correct but when the text has one or more words in english language ,format of the text changed and the words moved in text.
thanksI can not understand relation between COM and HTML elements .
can you elaborate more ?
All HTML elements are accesable via DOM in browsers.
Indeed to change an element attribute in html files (in browser without server interaction) we use scripts to access DOM tree and then we change the element attribute.
for example when you write
document.forms[1].submit()
you accessing the element using DOM tree.
About Farsi problem , I think there is no solution for this problem , as you may know , when we mix RTL and LTR languages in one element text attribute , we have no control over its appearance.
If i understand your post , you want to show both rtl and ltr in one static Text , which is not doable in simple manner.
At least i can not offer you a simple way to solve this. -

Pleasel let me know if there is a way to copy and paste choices for a Combo Box from an Excel spreadsheet or text file. I have over 250 values I'd like to add and don't trust my typing!
Thanks for the help!
Ken K. - 2191Yes, using the field.getItemAt method: http://livedocs.adobe.com/acrobat_sdk/9.1/Acrobat9_1_HTMLHelp/JS_API_AcroJS.88.745.html
E.g.:
var aItems = [];
var f = getField("combo1");
for (var i = 0; i < f.numItems; i++) {
aItems[i] = f.getItemAt(i);
If there are export values you need to decide how to use the optional bExportValue parameter. -
How we can get the output in excel format for Spawned programs?
My requirement is to get the excel output for some of the programs (like -Adjustment Register, Applied Receipts Register). I am trying to achieve this by BI Publisher. But these programs has "Spawned" executable. And when I am changing the output type as"XML" I am getting below error in output-
"XML Parsing Error: syntax error"
Can anyne suggest how we can get an XML output and then excel output for Spawned programs?
Thanks in advance,Hi,
If I get it right, you want to convert RXi (Reports Exchange) reports such as Adjustment Register & Applied Receipts Register into XML Publisher. Normally, you need to change the "Output Format" of the program called by the "Spawned" program to 'XML' -- not the "Spawned" program itself.
However, I believe RXi reports does not support XML output (atleast in 11i). It could only work on Text & Html format. Check on the metalink note below:
432719.1 - RXi-Only Reports Generate XML Format Exception With No Output Setting the Output Format to XML
Hope this helps.

Search and replace data in excel using a text file
Hi Scripting Guy:
I was able to write a script based on all the examples in your blogs, but now I'm stuck:
I have a text file, which has Server Name, IP Address, Comments
ABCserver1, 1.1.1.1, remote web server
DEFserver2, 2.2.2.2, remote app server
XYZserver3, 3.3.3.3, remote api server
I have a excel file which has Server Name, IP Address, Protocol, Port. Server Name, and IP Addreess can repeat itself more than once in entire spreadsheet at any location:
Server1, x.x.x.x, TCP, 80
Server2, x.x.x.x, TCP, 80
Server3, x.x.x.x, TCP, 80
My script search for the excel spreadsheet for a array that I have defined [Server1,Server2,Server3,...], once the first value matches in spreadsheet it replaces all values of Server1 with first value in text file i.e: ABCServer1 so my new excel sheet looks
this:
ABCserver1, x.x.x.x, TCP, 80
DEFserver2, x.x.x.x, TCP, 80
XYZserver3, x.x.x.x, TCP, 80
What I also want is, when I replaces the "Server1" value in spreadsheet, it will also replace the IP Address in next column. This is where I'm stuck I can replace the value of Server Name, but I can't replace the IP address for text file. Remember
"Server1" can be found at any place in spreadsheet but it will always have IP address column next to it.
So this is what script will do if runs correctly:
1) Read text file:
ABCserver1, 1.1.1.1, remote web server
DEFserver2, 2.2.2.2, remote app server
XYZserver3, 3.3.3.3, remote api server
2) Before script run on excel sheet
Server1, x.x.x.x, TCP, 80
Server2, x.x.x.x, TCP, 80
Server3, x.x.x.x, TCP, 80
3) After script run on excel sheet
ABCserver1, 1.1.1.1, TCP, 80
DEFserver2, 2.2.2.2, TCP, 80
XYZserver3, 3.3.3.3, TCP, 80
If you will see my script is able to replace "Server Name" in entire spreadsheet, but can't copy or replace the corespondent IP address in next column.
script:
$text = "Server1","Server2","Server3"
$replace=$replace = get-content C:\script\test.txt | foreach{ ($_.split(","))[0]}
$File = "C:\script\test.xlsx"
$now = [datetime]::now.ToString("yyyy-MM-dd")
#$now = get-date -Format "MM-dd-yyyy_hh:mm:ss"
copy-Item C:\script\test.xlsx test_$now.xlsx
# Setup Excel, open $File and set the the first worksheet
$i=0
$Excel = New-Object -ComObject Excel.Application
$Excel.visible = $true
$Workbook = $Excel.workbooks.open($file)
$Worksheets = $Workbooks.worksheets
$Worksheet = $Workbook.Worksheets.Item(1)
$Range = $Worksheet.UsedRange
Foreach($SearchString in $text){
if ($Range.find("$SearchString")) {
$Range.replace($SearchString,$replace[$i])
else {$i++}
$WorkBook.Save()
$WorkBook.Close()
[void]$excel.quit()
Really appreciate your help
ThanksHey, thanks for helping me out. I checked online and I had to call Cells this way:
$Workbook.Worksheets.Item(1).Cells.item($cell.Row,$cell.Column+1)=$test[$i].replace
one problem I'm having is if the $server value repeats itself in excel sheet again it doesn't replace all values for lets see server 1:
so thats how my excel sheet is:
server1
x
TCP
80
server2
x
TCP
80
server3
x
TCP
80
server1
x
TCP
80
when I run the script thats how results looks:
server1
x
TCP
80
REM88888SQL301A
10.1.1.2
TCP
80
REM88888SQL301B
10.1.1.3
TCP
80
REM88888SQL301
10.1.1.1
TCP
80
It skipped the line one on excel and changed value in line 4. As I mentioned above this can repeat $server can repeat itself anywhere in spreadsheet in multiple columns.
What can we do so it will replace all server name and IP address?

Save as PDF file as excel file or text file in vba excel
Hi all,

Dim AcroApp As Acrobat.CAcroApp
Dim Part1Document As Acrobat.CAcroPDDoc
Set Part1Document = CreateObject("AcroExch.PDDoc")
Part1Document.Open ("Z:\EG MI Information\MIS\Requests\Req_156\NO.1.pdf")
Dim app As Object, avdoc As Object, pageview As Object
Set app = CreateObject("AcroExch.App")
Set avdoc = app.GetActiveDoc
app.MenuItemExecute ("SaveAs")
thanks
AbhijeetHi,
In the documentation for the saveAs function it has the following params
cPath The device-independent path in which to save the file.
cConvID (optional, Acrobat 6.0) A conversion ID string that specifies the conversion
file type.
cFS (optional, Acrobat 7.0) A string that specifies the source file system name.
bCopy (optional, Acrobat 7.0) A Boolean value which, if true, saves the PDF file
as a copy. The default is false.
bPromptToOverwrite (optional, Acrobat 7.0) A Boolean value which, if true, prompts the user if
the destination file already exists. The default is false.
In order to get a text file saved you need to specify the correct cConvID.
See the documentation for the valid convID's - http://livedocs.adobe.com/acrobat_sdk/10/Acrobat10_HTMLHelp/JS_API_AcroJS.88.519.html
Please note the Acrobat SDK contains all the information and does not require much installing ( as it is a zip file(on windows) and a disc image (on Mac) it just needs extracted)

Rich Text Editor with Custom Text Attribute
Hello All,
We are using the latest version of Oracle Portal 10G. I have a need to create custom Attributes of the type text to let people enter a lot of text. But when User are in edit mode of an item where this custom attribute is used, the Rich Text Editor is not shown for entering the Text for the Custom Text Attribute. It shows a normal html text area. Has anyone ever used RTE with Custom Attribute?
I request you guys for help.
Thanks.The Problem with the Custom Attribute is not solved, but I have now compromised with the Situation and now I am not using a Custom attribute.
Rather, Now I am creating a Custom Item Type using Base Text Type (earlier i wanted to create custom item type at my own without any base item type). In this case now I will not be able to change the Lable of the RTE (that is "Text", when the Custom Item is in Edit Mode), but I hope that my users can understand that much.
I have created a template for portal pages. In the Template I can edit the Region Properties. When I edit the Region property of the region where I want to display my Custom Items. I get two Tabs on the top, Main and Attributes/Style. ON the main tab I can tell what type of region it should be, width etc, in my case it is item type region. And on the Attributes/Style tab, I can select from the availabe Attributes as which all Attributes I want to display. Here if i select only "Associated Functions" Attribute then normally portal should not render anything by default on the Page. It should rather make a call to the procedure which is associated with the Custom Item and as when I was creating the custom item type, I had clicked on "Display Procedure Results With Item", so portal should now display the result of my Procedure. So far it works without problem.
But the problem is that the Portal displays the text at its own also. As i have written that Portal should not display anything at its own, this doesn't work in this version of Portal for a Custom Item Type that is made using Base Text Item Type. For all others it has worked till now (I have create 50s of Custom item types).
You can better understand by going to the following URL. Just have a look between the two dotted lines (Dotted line is also a seperate Custom Item Type). Between the two Dotted Lines is a custom item, in general it would be a Custom News Item having title, image and so on.
http://sunnode1.edvz.sbg.ac.at:7778/portal/page?_pageid=79,56047&_dad=portal&_schema=PORTAL
I have really programmed a lot with portal but now at this stage where I am near to end, I am getting problems which are coming from Product. I request you for help. -
I have an 800 page pdf document to index and so far I have a script that will search for a list of keywords. But the text has large sections of code in a different font, and I think we would like to generate an index of just code examples. Is there a way to search for text of a given font in applescript? Something like
set theSel to find text theText
if the font of theSel is "Times"
write to file, etc.Please do send a page, I might be able to spot where the font problem is coming from - but no guarantee Address is in my profile.
You asked about the script formatter. red_menace of this forum wrote the script I use. To use it, you copy the script that you want to format to the clipboard and run the formatter. This then places the marked-up text in the clipboard so that you can paste it into the forum page.

Are free-text attributes not possible? Why?
I'm pretty new to MDM, just learning really. I've done some complicated imports, in cluding hierarchies and taxonomies.
At my company we have product records that contain product specs. There are about 200 different specs that different products CAN have, but any particular product only may need about 20, depending on it's product type. A perfect situation for a taxonomy with attributes, right?
It would be, but although many specs have particular pre-defined choices (like attribute choices) , many are free-text fields where the user enters information that can't be boiled into pre-set choices.
After playing with it in MDM for a while, it becomes clear that you can't have taxonomy attributes in MDM that are free text. That seems kind of silly to me... am I missing something? Is there a way to do this? If not, why not? It seems like a useful feature. I can't be the first person to think of this.....
Any help, explanations, or ideas for alternate methods would be very greatly appreciated...
SteveYou aren't missing anything. Attributes can only be numeric (or couple numeric) or text. The text attributes are only available as lookups and cannot be set up as free-form text entries. Fields can be set up as free-form text, but have to be applied at a global level to everything.
The only reason I can think as to why it has been developed this way is because of the search capabilities built into MDM. It would probably be difficult to have the parametric searching with free-text attributes, much easier when all the data is in a lookup. Another reason is just to help maintain standards within your repository. You could enter a message with SAP to find out all the reasons why it is this way and possibly enter an enhancement request for future versions.
Basically the only way around this currently is to use the text attribute available. You could allow the users to right click on the attribute in Record Mode and select Modify to add entries to the attribute as needed.
This obviously doesn't solve your problem, but hopefully helps clear it up a bit.
Regards,
Tim
