Excel VBA - ActiveX Control - MonthView not available under ActiveX Toolbox for Windows 8 64bit MS Office 2010

Hello,
I have Windows 8, 64bit and Office 2010
I am trying to get the 'datepicker' (MonthView) ActiveX control toolbox in Excel 2010 as part of a Excel UserForm I have created. I have spent all day trying to find a solution for my problem.
I opened up the 'more.. ' but the MonthView/datepicker/calendar control is not listed.
I referred to some articles and confirmed that I do indeed have the mscomct2.ocx file in the C:\Windows\syswow64 folder.
I followed the instructions as above, opening up the Administrator Command Prompt and changed the directory to C:\Windows\syswow64 and typed in RegSvr32.
I received a popup screen confirming my registration was successful
Excel was closed. So I opened Excel and checked out the ActiveX Tool box and clicked on the 'More  Controls', but there was no listing for the Microsoft MonthView control, (nor datepicker/calendar)
I then downloaded the latest Windows Common Controls 2 6.0 from the following site
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/297381
Copied the original file (2008) and saved it elsewhere on the computer for safekeeping.
Extracted the new mscomct2.ocx.
Under the C:\Windows\syswow64 I changed the original file properties to allow me to overwrite it with the new file. This worked … old file replaced.
I then registered the new file via the Administrator Command Prompt (as above) and was notified that it was successful. I rebooted pc and went back into Excel to find the MonthView in the
ActiveX toolbox, More Controls… and it still wasn’t there …
I would be very grateful if someone could advise how I can get this control and allow me to use it.
If I have left out any information that you need to resolve this issue, please advise.
Cheers,
TheShyButterfly

Hi George,
Thank you for checking this out ... :)
I am using Office 2010 64 bit ...
I found the
mscomct2.ocx file originally within the C:\Windows\syswow64 directory (this was an original file .... which I expect was installed via Microsoft at the time of the Office installation.
As I mentioned above, I followed
the instructions (same as the ones you suggested), but still no go, even though it stated that the registration was successful ! :(
Why weren't these features included in the 64 bit ? ... yes, I read the article ... but ... so MS doesn't think that people/developers would be needing this in due course?  I installed the 64bit version because I'm running the Win8 64bit version ...and
I deal with a lot of large spreadsheets and can't afford to sleep whilst they decide to load.
If MS included all the other ActiveX controls and some obscure ones, surely some bright spark could have thought that something as useful as MonthView should be included as 'basic' necessity when dealing with forms and sheets?
Perhaps you could pass the suggestion up the line .... there are a lot of other people out there having the same problem ... I found heaps when I was looking for a solution.
Sorry, I'm not having a go at you, but just incredibly frustrated .... the amount of lost productivity directly cause by trying to find a solution that doesn't exist ... it's been at least a good solid 24 hours.
But thank you for taking the time to review my post and your suggestion. It's unfortunate that because you are part of the organisation ... you tend to cop some slack from frustrated people like myself.
In relation to the pictures/screen dumps, 2 of them made it (I can see them in my post) ... one I deliberately left out because there was nothing on there that showed anything other than the rest of the 'More Controls' - nothing to do with the MonthView.
Please feel free to escalate this to the powers that be ... and hopefully enough people will join the voice so a change can be made (I can dream ... can't I?)
I've taken a screen dump of the Forms/ActiveX toolbox.
I don't know what the next step is ... I guess you'd be able to advise.
Cheers,
TheShyButterfly

    Hi,
Actually Arnavsharma provided a operable method for you. But no luck, it's not invalid.
Here I also offer you an method you can try. Please delete the extra (parasite) zone from the Zones subkey :
Click Start , click Run , type regedit , and then click OK
    Expand the following registry subkey
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Zones
Delete the extra (parasite) zone from the Zones subkey
Note: The parasite zone is a pseudo-graphic number listed before zone number 0. The pseudo-graphic number looks like a miniature upper case "L"
    Close the registry editor

I have uninstalled the latest JRE, but the file deploytk.dll is still present in c:\windows\system32\ and the related activex control deploytk.dll 6.0.190.4 is loaded in IE8. Please fix this bug.

Unfortunately, it was *all* of my ActiveX controls that wouldn't load. That said, A user of the Info-LabVIEW list came up with the answer: reinstall the RunTime engine - wierd....

  • Canon MP510 scanner not available under 10.9, who can help?

Canon MP510 scanner not available under 10.9 since update, who can help?
Canon informed me that Apple does not support this device any more, apple informed to contact the manufacturer.....
Any ideas how to activate scan function again?
Printing is okay under 10.9 and under 10.8 scan+print was okay.

Canon has a scanner driver and the MP Navigator scanning application for the MP510 for OS X 10.8 so you could try installing them on your 10.9 Mac. I am not sure if either file is digitally signed, so Gatekeeper will block the installation. To install them, you can Control-click on the respective installer and select Open from the pop-up menu. You will then be given the option to install.
And for the record, Canon makes the drivers - not Apple, so it is Canon that is not supporting the MP510 on OS X 10.9.

  • One or more activex controls could not be displayed because either

    Hi.
I don't know if this is the right forum for my problem.
    Anyway,
I have a problem with my Windows Services.
Each time when I launch Windows Services window, I get a warning:
One or more activex controls could not be displayed because either:
    1. your current security settings prohibit running activex
    controls on this page, or
    2. you have blocked a publisher of one of the controls.
as a result, the page may not display correctly.
The warning pop-up opens only when I click on Extended tab.
The problem has nothing to do with IE security, because I can open pages with ActiveX controls on them and so.
I have installed Spybot spyware/malware removal tool. Then uninstalled it.
I'm not sure if this is the cause of the problem. But I presume it is.
So, may be someone was facing the same problem and knows the cause for it.
    Thanks.

Unlike the rubbish that was stated before this post, this one works.  This is the solution and Jishnu is brilliant.  Thanks a million, friend.

  • ActiveX control is not working with windows NT

I've have a stand alone application which uses an activeX control.  The application was compiled using Labview 7.1 on a Windows XP machine.  The application will run without any problems on Windows XP and Windows 2000, however the activeX control will not work with Windows NT 4.0.  The activeX control is registered, and I have also compiled the application on a Windows NT 4.0 machine.  I do not receive any error messages, the application will start but will not communicate with the activeX control.  Does anyone have any suggestions?

    Hello,
Have you tired running the VI by itself (not exe) on the NT machine? Make sure you are doing adequate error checking in your code. It could be possible that the application is generating an error which in not handled appropriately. Also which service pack do you have installed on the NT machine? Please look at the release notes for LabVIEW 7.1 here.

The software update option is not available under my general tab...now what

The Settings > General > Software Update option only appears when you have iOS 5+ installed, if you have iOS 4 then you will need to do the update via your computer's iTunes.
Connect the iPad to your computer's iTunes and copy any purchases off the iPad to your computer via File > Transfer Purchases - you may also want to copy photos and any important documents off the iPad as well e.g. via the file sharing section at the bottom of the device's apps tab when connected to iTunes, via wifi, email, dropbox etc - they should be included in the backup, but it's best to have a copy of them outside of the backup just in case. You can then force a backup of the iPad by right-clicking the iPad 'Device' on the left-hand side of iTunes and selecting 'Backup'.
You can then start the update by selecting the iPad on the left-hand side of iTunes, and on the Summary tab on the right-hand side clicking the Check For Updates button.

  • Novell login not available with remote desktop on windows 7

Installed Novell Client 2 SP3 for Windows Server 2012 on my terminal server. When I log in from Windows XP to that terminal server I am getting an option to login with Novell Client. On Windows 7 however I only can logon to the server. What am I missing here?

    djaquays <[email protected]> wrote:
    > Mostly, that MS RDP for Mac ignores the authentication level:i:0 option

    > authentication.
Microsoft's Network Level Authentication (NLA) feature is supported in
Windows Server 2008 and later terminal servers, and supported by
Remote Desktop Connection (MSTSC) 6.x and later terminal clients.
Windows XP did not ship with a MSTSC 6.x terminal client, but it is
    available optionally through Windows Update.
The NLA authentication is essentially requiring that valid Windows
user account credentials for the Windows Server machine must be
provided /before/ the RDP-level terminal session connection is even
attempted or permitted. If the Windows user credentials you're logged
in with on the client workstation do not already satisfy this
requirement, the NLA-aware MSTSC clients will prompt you for valid NLA
credentials before even attempting to open the terminal session.
In other words, NLA doesn't directly have anything to do with whom you
will become authenticated as within the terminal session, or whether
you'll reconnect to some other already-running terminal session; it's
a new default mechanism which requires Windows credentials for
authorizing you to create an RDP connection to the Windows Server
    machine "at all."
Unfortunately Windows Server 2008 and later don't permit you to turn
NLA completely off. You can configure the Windows Server to always
require NLA, which means pre-MSTSC 6.x terminal clients will be unable
to connect. Or you can configure the Windows Server to "not require
NLA" ("Allow connections from computers running any version or Remote
Desktop"), but this still means Windows Server will use NLA if the
    workstation's MSTSC client supports NLA.
The only option which has been available to "disable NLA" even when a
Windows Server 2008 or later terminal server and a MSTSC 6.x or later
terminal client are involved is to configure the
"enablecredsspsupport:i:0" setting in the MSTSC client's .RDP file
(e.g. default.rdp in the My Documents folder), in addition to
configuring the terminal server to "not require NLA."
Once you have "Allow connections from computers running any version or
Remote Desktop" set on the Windows Server, and
"enablecredsspsupport:i:0" set in the MSTSC client, now you're back to
the Windows XP & Windows Server 2003 behavior where an RDP terminal
connection can be established without first having to supply NLA
credentials, and the first thing the MSTSC client user will experience
is the full normal credential provider-based login experience just
like you see at the physical console of the terminal server.
Note that if you do leave NLA enabled and supply NLA credentials
during the MSTSC connection attempt, after successfully using those
credentials to authorize creation of the RDP connection, the MSTSC
client will /also/ default to using the NLA credentials as default
credentials to attempt logging on with within the terminal session
itself. In other words, if you successfully supply NLA credentials,
by default you also become logged in on the terminal session and go
straight to the desktop of the Windows user account specified in the
NLA credentials. So even though "NLA credentials" and "whom I will
logon as within the terminal session" are two separate things, by
default the MSTSC client tries to use the same credentials for both.
But it's not that the NLA credentials "must" be used for logging in on
the terminal session; that's simply the default behavior. If you
leave NLA enabled on the Server 2008 or later terminal server, after
NLA credentials are successfully used to authorize creation of an RDP
connection, if you wanted to instead be prompted within the terminal
session with the normal credential provider login experience, enable
the "Always prompt for password" on the Windows Server 2008 or later
    terminal server.
(On the Server 2008 or later machine, under "Administrative Tools"
find the "Remote Desktop Services" group and launch the "Remote
Desktop Session Host Configuration" console. Highlight/select the
"RDP-Tcp" connection, right-click and select "Properties". On the "Log
On Settings" tab elect "Always prompt for password".)
That sounds like probably the scenario which fits best for the "I have
    a Macintosh-based client which doesn't allow enablecredsspsupport:i:0
/ authentication level:i:0." You would leave NLA enabled on the
Server 2012 machine, but enable "Always prompt for password" in the
RPC-Tcp connection properties on the Server 2012 machine. Such that
after NLA authentication was performed and Windows allowed creation of
the terminal session, instead of immediately also attempting to login
within the terminal session as the Windows account specified in the
NLA credentials, Windows will instead present the normal interactive
credential provider login experience to allow the user to specify whom
    they want to login as.
Finally, note that everything described above applies even to a
Windows Server and Windows client workstation that do /not/ have the
Novell Client for Windows installed. The same mechanisms remain in
effect even once the Novell Client is installed; the presence of the
Novell Client just changes what credential providers would be used or
presented within the terminal session once the terminal session was
allowed to be created. The fact that NLA is required by default and
requires valid Windows credentials in order to authorize an RDP
connection is still the same, regardless of whether the Novell Client
    is present or not.

Surprising but I think you are correct, there is no 64 bit Windows release available for EM(Grid Console), neither on OTN nor on Edelivery. In a general speak, yes 32 bit version should get installed on 64 bit.

I hope this discussion can be revived. I have the same problem. There seem to be quite a few Japanese sites that don't bother specifying their encoding. Perhaps they are older and from a time when it was not necessary to adhere to standards. Examples: http://www1.plala.or.jp/CUE/cave_yozawa.html, http://chigaku.web.fc2.com/saitama/sanchi/youzawa/youzawa.html. Happy to upload screenshots, but how?
Is there a way to tell Safari what encoding to use if the web page fails to do that?
