Exception #1 in apogrid.ocx
Hello all,
I cannot seem to get to the bottom of this problem. Here's the story:
One user calls me every week that her SAPgui crashed with Exception #1 while she was doing random things in APO. The action that causes the crash is not reproducable. I tried everything from installing the latest patches to replacing the apogrid.ocx with a version SAP gave me. Funny thing is: she doesnt get the crash, when she is on another PC in her department (they all do planning and optimzing in APO). So, we installed her PC from scratch with our standard SAPgui version. This also implies that her windows logon profile was also completely new afterwards.
No matter what: Crashed again!
Any ideas? Please ....
SAP told me to install a lot of stuff to get a more detailed trace file after the crash...
Any help greatly appreciated!
Regards,
Markus

Exception in FLASH.OCX using Windows 8.1, latest Flash Version
I have many problems using the latest Flash Version 13.0.0.182. My applications use an embedded version of IExplorer 11 and use OSMF to display P2P Streams. If buffering starts, an exception is thrown and my app crashes with the message "Exception 000000 in FLASH.OCX". This only happens under Windows 8.1 (64 Bit) with latest Flash Version 13.0.0.182, embedded Version. If i call the URL directly into IE, it works.
- Older Versions works fine
- On other Windows (Windows 7...) is works fineOpen entry in bugbase #3744747 (https://bugbase.adobe.com/index.cfm?event=bug&id=3744747)

What's This Help crashing when using RoboHelp's HtmlHelp API
I followed all the instructions described in the RoboHelp
developer help file. The correct initialisation at the InitInstance
of the application
is called using the CSHInitialize(szHelpPath, TRUE). Then, I
registered the dialog for the "What's This?" help, using the
SHRegisterDialog(...) API. When I right click the mouse on any
control in the dialog I always end up with a crash reporting the
following error:
"The exception unknown software exception (0x0000005) occurred
in the application at location 0x4b78d471".
When we debugged the problem we got the following message in
the debugger which indicates that the crash is happining in the
hhctrl.ocx library:
"Unhandled exception at 0x4b78d471 (hhctrl.ocx) in hoblinkl.exe;
0x0000005: Access violation reading location 0x00000000"
In the meantime another image illustrates the call stack
right before the crash (message not included).
Note that for this application, we have the resouces loaded
from a resource DLL. However, we were told that the help file was
generated using these resource DLLs. We used this dialog as a
testing platform because it is one of the simplest dialogs without
the complexities of property pages etc., which do load certain
dialog resources dynamically.
However, to further test the problem, we implemented the
context sensitive help on a more complex dialog using the standard
HtmlHelp Api, where we are passing an array containing the mappings
between the IDs and the Help topics (for now the mapping is fixed
to one topic ID for simplicity) and I managed to make the context
sensitive help work (not through the What's this menu but rather
through the '?' button at the top right corner of the dialog.) The
proper context help topic is displayed according to the mapped ID.
Has anybody faced this problem and is there a solution for
it? ;Unfortunately the update did not help. Using the field-level
help in the dialog always ends up with a crash reporting the above
error.

PWRMGR.OCX;StartPowerManager exception
After the latest T60 update the blue ThinkVantage button stopped working, I can no longer switch locations after pressing Fn+F7 if I have Wireless and Bluetooth switched off, but most importantly, I can't launch Power Manager getting the PWRMGR.OCX;StartPowerManager exception error message.
Having T60 2007-FSG type with Win XP running.
Any ideas? I wish I can step back with the latest TP update until which everything worked just fine. But I can't figure out how.

Cannot delete Flash32_11_6_602_180.ocx from an old system disk
Hi, I am running a Windows 8 64 bit system with the most current version of Flash installed, whatever that is, since I blindly accept whatever update Adobe sends to me. My problem is that I cannot delete the Flash32_11_6_602_180.ocx file from an old system disk where I have deleted everything else in the Windows folder except the Flash32_11_6_602_180.ocx file.
I have seen very similar posts by Krischu on November 27, 2013 "Cannot delete/remove Flash32_11_9_900_117.ocx" and by Gdstuart on January 22, 2014 "How to delete Flash32_11_9_900_170,ocx," and I have tried the "takeown" method and the FileASSASSIN method suggested by MikeM to both of those posts, but my Flash.ocx file just won't go away.
I am the only user of this PC, and my user account describes me as an administrator, but I keep getting the "You need to provide admistrator permission to delete this file" when I try to delete it.
Does anyone know how to delete this file without doing what Krischu did by loading a Ubuntu system?
Thanks for any thoughts!Well Pat, I definitely do filter what Microsoft tries to load on my system, for example, their insistence in trying to sneak in Bing. Either way, I keep my system up to date constantly.
Do you understand that the file I am dealing with is on a separate disk from my system disk? I don't see any way that the OS would automatically delete files that are not part of the current OS.
I took the disks from my old PC and installed them inside of my new PC. The old system was Windows 7 32 bit, and my new system is Windows 8 64 bit. As I said, there is only one user on my new system, me, and I am the administrator, so there is no "original Windows Administrator password" other than the one that I use every day. The only thing that I can think of is that the file is linked to my old admin user name from the W7 system, but even if that is the case, then why wouldn't the "takeown" method give me ownership? -
Word 2013 - MSI Install vs. One-Click Install - COM Exception Error
Hello -
we have a 3rd party control that sits on top of word to render word documents. In a MSI installation of Word 2013 everything works fine. When we use the one-click installation the rendering does not work and the system throws a com exception
error.
it basically says "The document is not associated with an ActiveX Document server. at OfficeControlLIB.IOfficeControl.OpenLocalfile...
there is a suggested fix @ http://stackoverflow.com/questions/19778211/office-2013-click-to-run-installer-and-activex-issue/26890815#26890815
where you modify the registry to insert :
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Wow6432Node\CLSID\{F4754C9B-64F5-4B40-8AF4-679732AC0607}\DocObject]
into the registry - however this did not work (note we looked up the CLSID for our OCX and replaced.
Any ideas?Hi,
So it's a 32-bit version of Office which is running on a 32-bit version of Windows, try to omit
Wow6432Node from the registry keys and see if it works.
It's a 3rd party control, there is no way for us to understand how exactly it works. I'd suggest you contact the vendor support of that control for further assistance.

Does anyone knows what it may be? The system runs under Win XP nd 2000.
Sincerely, ThorHi,
Sorry not to be able to contribute directly , but I write to bring this topic upfront again, as I have recently encountered the same problem.
I am designing a Music management tool which deals with big mp3 databases. I use JMF to playback mp3s. In the context of my application, it crashes pretty quickly (I'm not talking about 30 minutes like Thor, rather like 2 or 3) after accessing around 10 songs.
(after all 10 songs * a mean duration of 3 minutes = 30 mn, don't know if this is relevant).
Apparently, the problem occurs when the renderer attempts to update the progress bar in the player (the "remaining time" thingy).
If anyone has any idea about this...
(by the way, it's running on a Windows 2000)

This is only on 1 PC and 1 website (as far as I can tell) My husband's laptop can access it without problems. Our OS's, IE, & Flash are all the same versions. I've tried reinstalling Flash, no luck.
I'm running Vista Home Premium with IE7. However, I also tried IE8 and Firefox (current version?) Same problem.
Here's the page, and it only happens when I click to type in my password. Remember, this works on my H's laptop.
I get the pop-up from Internet Exporer:
Internet Explorer has encountered a problem with an add-on and needs to close.

On Saturday night, We changed 1 setting in 5 training classes. Mulitple websites seemed to indicate this changed may help. To note, you can not do this via action script or using parameters in the html object tag. Not sure why, it would be nice if they included into the object tags?
Anyhow...These 5 training classes are the most frequently hit courses and would create a nice composite for checking the problem.
if the problem (flash crashing) starts to shrink, trend higher or stay the same.
The setting "Script time Limit" is defaulted to 15 seconds.
I raised it to be 60 on these training courses.
Do not know if it will help at all. I wait for feedback and statistics from our computer labs.
To note: Our training courses are setup in a Shell which "pull in" other SWF, MP3, XML,FLV and JPG files. The shell's timeline is stopped while a child SWF is playing. Which has always seem to work fine and continues to work on 97% of computers. But based on the "FLASH PLAYER" requiring the timeline to be updated or else it errors out. Could be the problem....
Thinking outloud:
In other words, another website explained it to me as Looping conditions are fine as long as the "Timeline" has been updated at least 1x in 15 seconds. Not sure if this is true, but it is my interpretation so far. These is strange considering the fact "Audio" can play continously via action sript with out ever updating the timeline (swithing to a different frame). So if this was the case, "Flash" would crash consistently every 15 seconds.
SO now my question is. "What does the Flash Player consider as 'updating the timeline'"?
========================================================================================== ======
Can anyone explain in simple words what the script time limit exactly is?
the time limit for code that starts to execute and then continues to execute
without allowing the stage to update.
========================================================================================== ======
Here is something else i found:
Your issue made me think of race conditions. Andrew Rapo and Alex Michael speak of "race conditions" in their book Understanding Macromedia Flash 8.0 Actionscript 2: basic techniques for creatives (2006, Focal Press).
Here is how the authors explain it:
Quote:
The term, 'race condition,' refers to the situatio where instructions will produce different results when executed in a different order, and teh order of execution is inconsistent. Race conditions can produce intermittent bugs (errors), and these are the hardest to track down and fix. (page 46)
They go on to explain that the ability to employ multiple timelines makes race conditions more likely in Flash applications. To avoid race conditions:
Quote:
The only solution is to entralize the important code and have all of the varioius MovieClips and event handlers report back to an authoritative "application controller".

Another blog I found

Just great; I forgot to mention HOW to set the timeout . Well here is how:
You can’t set the timeoutperiod by code (neither in as3 nor in as2). You have to set the timeout manually in the publish settings of your fla: Ctrl+Shift+F12 > flash-tab > “Script time limit”.

Flash 10e.ocx Crash in IE8 on Win7
I am trying to view a teleseminar in Internet Explorer 8 running on Windows 7 Ultimate (64-Bit). I have tried running the session in Compatibility Mode but the application still causes Internet Explorer to stop working. Can anyone provide a solution for this issue?
Cheers,
Dave_2UFrom Windows 7 Diagnostics...
Windows 7 prompted me to uninstall and reinstall Adobe Flash update. I believe it reinstalled the same version of Flash. It then referred me to Adobe Support article:
Flash Player support on 64-bit operating systems
Issue
Adobe Flash Player is not supported for playback in a 64-bit browser. However, you can run Flash Player in a 32-bit browser running on a 64-bit operating system.
Reason
Adobe is working on Flash Player support for 64-bit platforms as part of our ongoing commitment to the cross-platform compatibility of Flash Player. We expect to provide native support for 64-bit platforms in an upcoming release of Flash Player following the release of Flash Player 10.1.
Note: To participate in pre-release testing of 64-bit Flash Players see Adobe Labs.
Solution
To use Flash Player to view Flash content on a 64-bit operating system, you must run a 32-bit browser. For details on setting this up for Windows see Microsoft Help & Support. Microsoft support is not very helpful in helping determine whether or not I was using a 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit instance of Internet Explorer. I right-clicked on the Start Menu shortcuts and traced the location of the files to their respective folders. My default [Start Menu] instance of Internet Explorer 8 points to the x86/32-bit version of iexplore.
Once I confirmed my default browser was IE8 (Under Program Files (x86) > Internet Explorer > iexplore.exe), I was able to successfully launch the replay of the webcast I was attempting to view. It remains to be seen if this issue has resolved the problems I was experiencing with viewing the "live" webcast. -
Application exception not handled
I have a VB.NET winform app that I created that uses an unmanaged ActiveX control for knobs and sliders (cwui.ocx).
I created a setup project for it and it installs fine on my machine. The app runs fine too.
When I run it on another machine it installs fine, but when I run the program I get this error:
MyApp.exe - Common Language Runtime Debugging Services
Application has generated an exception that could not be handled.
Process id=0x11c(284), Thread id=0x68(104).
Click OK to terminate the application.
Click CANCEL to debug the application.
Any ideas???My first guess would be that you did not include the CWUI_OCX.msm merge module in your setup project. Since the OCX is installed on your development machine it will work fine, but without installing it on the deployment machine you will get errors.
The help topic:
ms-help://NI.MeasurementStudio/MStudioMain/static/Distributing_MStudio_Apps.html
Should explain.

8.5 Report works with OCX but not with CRAXDRT
Post Author: kjwatson
CA Forum: Older Products
I have an application using Crystal Reports 8.5. It uses the crystal reports OCX to view and print reports.I added the CRAXDRT to the application so I could export PDF files. It works fine except that Running Total Fields and Formula Fields to not seem to evaluate correctly. Formula Fields only work if they reference a Database Field. If they reference a Running Total Field, they do not evaluate. I'm initializing the connection of the tables on the report and sub-reports. Could I be missing something else? The reports work fine with the older OCX, but not with the CRAXDRT. Any help/ideas are appreciated! Thanks,KevinPost Author: kjwatson

I seriously hope I posted this in the right forum, there was so many, and it was confusing. Please forgive me if I didn't.
Anyways, I was playing a online game, RuneScape, when my browser suddenly closed. Later on, I finally noticed that there was a notepad document on my desktop:

How to uninstall just the QTPlugin.ocx?
I'm trying to do the remove the Quicktime browser add-on so that when I click on an mp3, it opens with my default mp3 player, and not in my browser window. It should prompt me to open or save like it did before I update my version of iTunes.
First, I went into the QT control panel and changed the MIME types and file associations, and unchecked every single type that it would allow me to uncheck (it wouldn't let me uncheck "Quicktime Movie" or "Quicktime Movie" again). I closed and reopened all open apps (including the browser) and it still tries to load the mp3 in the browser. Which is not what I want it to do.
Next, I went into IE's Internet Options, to the Manage Add-Ons section, and disabled the Quicktime Object (QTPlugin.ocx). Closed and restarted everything, and it's the same thing except now after the mp3 downloads in the browser, it just displays a red x.
How can I entirely uninstall the Quicktime browser plugin? Why did it get installed in the first place? I just wanted iTunes. I didn't want Quicktime to take over my browser. It sounds to me like it is being re-registered; when u unregistered, did u remove or rename the .ocx?
windows, as you know has many layers, with too many auto-things; (it is also possible that there are more copies of the qtplugin.ocx);
there are always many ways to accomplish the same thing in windows;
2 other quick ways to accomplish the same thing:
1 - from windows explorer (or `my computer`); make sure that nothing is hidden (tools->options->view) make sure that u have `show all hidden files and folders` checked, and `hide protected system files` unchecked;
- navigate to: c:\windows\downloaded program files
- look for the plugin, right click->remove
(if u only see those long numbers (classIDs) then right-click->properties to see the details so u know which one to remove)
2 - you can use any of a wide variety of 3rd party anti-spyware software to remove the plugin, because they allow removal of almost all .ocx files (found under the `ActiveX` category); e.g., with the (free) `spybot search and destroy` from safer-networking.org, if you choose Mode->Advanced, tools-activex, u are able to remove it;
as I said, there are many ways to accomplish the same thing; if neither of these help, would u want to contact me directly? hopefully we can resolve the issue, and then report the findings/solution here for everyone -
