Exceptions in BI 7.0 Query Designer

Hi Guys,
I have a requirement where based on Net Supply and Product classification, conditional formatting need to be applied.
Below is the scenario.
Product Class                                          Week1      Week2      Week3     Week4    Week5
A                              .     Net Supply        1200         1300         1400        1200        1100
B                              .     Net Supply        1100         1200         1300         1200        1200
Requirement is if net supply value is greater than 1000 and product class value is A then conditional formatting should start from Week3 where as if net supply value is greater than 1000 and product class value is B then condition formatting should start from Week4.
Thanks in Advance.

Rijish

Hi Deepu,
Please can you advise how I can set the iView to point to my 3.5 template.  I have set the 3.5 template 0ANALYZER in SPRO under the 3.5 settings and all the queries run in the test portal for this QA environment show the rendering of queries in 0ANALYZER which works.  But its QD that gives the error message:
<b>Error during conversion of the Web template "0ANALYSIS_PATTERN from the master system</b>
Still shows in QD for QA environments.
Will this be fixed if I restarted the Java engine?
Thanks

    Hi,
I have not encountered this problem in the last days. We have made an upgrade
in the support package level from 11 to 16 for Netweaver Basis and 12 to 18 for
Netweaver BI. Sometimes there can arise problems when the support package level
of the Application Server is to low in comparision to the SAP GUI.
Maybe this was the problem. I am not sure.
I would advise you to install the latest upgrades of your SAP GUI and keep the application
server on a high support package level.
Sorry, I can't give any other hint.

  • Can we see value of CKF in exception cell in query designer-please reply

    Hello all,
I am defining a query in query designer in which i am using the exception cells, I am having two structures in this query. Now at the intersection of these two structure on one particular line I am trying to define the properties of that cell. I selected new selection and after that I added the calculated key figure that I had created. So should that cell show me the value of the calculated key figure (that is what I thought, that if I can put my CKF in that cell it will show me the value for that CKF). I am seeing different results.
Is there any way you can actually show the value of calculated key figure in that particular cell.
    Thanks in advance,
    Raj

    Hi Raj,
You can add Calculated key figure,RKF and even single key figures .The cells are independent of each other and that should not be an issue.
Whatever the key figure is in the cell it should show that value.
Just check again whether you have put any key figure into the selections of the structures
There should be no key fgures into selctions.
    Hope it helps
    Thanks

  • How to create an exception in query designer?

    Hi,
I am new to BW. I created an exception and set the from and to limits with an alert level of green for an amount column. When I run this query in the web, it does not change the color to green for the condition in the amount column. What is the validity area of exception? Do I need to enter anything there? I am in BW 3.5

    Hi,
You need to change the default option Result only to all the cells in the second tab(cell defining) of Exceptions in query designer.

  • BEx Query Designer and Exceptions

I have a simple enough task.  I was tasked, with marking items on a query with an exception, however the value is not static.  I have a column marked hours, and five columns for each day of the week.  The current day with data should yield an exception if the current day has less hours the the calculated hours column.  So my first approach was to create a formula where I evaluate both the hours calculated from the query and the current day. I called this field fday1.  I created an exception stating that if fday1 = 1 then to mark the field Bad3.  but I want the affected structure to be the Actual Day such my column days are: Day 1 (current date), Day 2 (current date + 1) etc... but when I visit the query (ie, adhoc query) only the formula field fday1 has the exception day triggered.  In the exceptions list  I define the keyfigure fDay1 (time of evaluation [before list calculation]) Under the display tab I have exception affects data cells for the following structure elements: Day 1 (current date).
like If I execute this query through the portal the exception shows up correctly on the proper field.  if I execute the query through the adhoc (BEx Ad Hoc Analysis) view, then the wrong field has the exception.
any thoughts on a better way to approach this query?

Nobody has a solution in order to highlight the whole row (characteristic and key figures) for a value of a key figure ?
With WAD or Query Designer, I'm trying to highlight a line with an exception on a key figure but it apparently colors only key figures.
For example i would have entire colored rows for negative key figure :
    field1:a field2:x field3:e key_figure:1
    field1:b field2:x field3:e key_figure:7
    field1:b field2:y field3:e key_figure:-5
    field1:d field2:z field3:j key_figure:1
I can use WAD or Query Designer but not Visual Composer or Report Designer...
    Thanks for help.

  • Ad-hoc Query Designer: Create Exception

    Hi there,
somehow, my Ad-hoc Query designer is going crazy or something. I don't know whether it is a technical error.... hope you can help me.
When I create an exception, if I don't set the standard operator AND all characteristics to "All" the exception is displayed only for the results.
When I set all these operators to "All", then the results are also marked in the respective colours. However, I only want to mark everything but the results, but if I choose for this option, only the overall result is displayed.
    Can you help me?
    Thanks,
    Sabine

    Hi Sabine,
I think I did not fully get what your requirement is, please elaborate on what you want to be displayed. Something general
    1. in tab "exception values" you can specify the key figures on which the exceptions are to be applied and assign value ranges to different colors / levels
    2. in tab "validity area of exception" you can specify
    a) to apply the exception on all or totals only (choicebox), this setting is valid for all characteristics not mentioned in the field below
    b) to apply the exception on everything, totals, everything but totals, fixed value, hierarchy level corresponding to a certain characteristic

  • Exceptional Aggregation Option at Query Level in BW 3.5 Query Designer

    Hi all,
I want to use Exceptional aggregation with reference char 0CALDAY,on Formula keyfigure in the Query designer(BW3.5).
But I am not getting that option when I went into Properties of that Keyfigure. So please Suggest  me where I will Find that Exceptional Aggregation option & Ref.Char at the Query level.
    Thanks,
    Kiran Manyam

    Hi
In the Key Figure Properties dialog box, choose Enhance >>. The Aggregation Behavior field is added to the dialog box.
You can make settings for the aggregation of the calculated key figure and the time that the calculated key figure is calculated here. Depending on the complexity of the formula, you can select various settings in the enhanced properties of the calculated key figure. The following types of calculated key figures with the corresponding formula complexity are available:

  • Exceptions in Query designer

    Hello experts,
I have a basic doubt on Exceptions in the Query designer.
Say I create an exception which says any value between 1 and 10 is good and should have a certain color and another exception on the same key figure which says that values between 8 and 12 are bad and denote with a different color.
Now I get a value 0f 9 for my Kf then how does BI process the exception?
    Thanks and Regards
    Ankit

    Hi,
You have to make exception for values 1-10 as per the requirement.
and starting from 11-12 give another with diff color and notation. Like wise it's better to identify.

  • Query Designer Exception

    Hi,
In query designer 3.5, the exception is available in 3 traffic light color --> red, amber and green.
Is there any setting that we can include other color in the exception ?
    Thanks.

    Hi Jonathan,
*In Exception of BEx  Query Designer 3.5, you can't have customized color as you wish.
*As i told you earlier, there are 9 different Alert levels. Just try using all these 9 alert levels in any sample report, so that you can see what are the 9 different colors that you can get in your reports.
As per you initial question, you wanted to have an additional color in the exception apart from the basic three. You can have that using any 4 different Alert levels of the whole 9levels.
(NOTE:  You can use some other advanced reporting tools, where you can have the option of changing the colors in the alerts as you wish)
    Hope it helps you.

As this is my first enhancement using ABAP & CMOD
What type of key (either Access or developer ) do i require to perform the following  enhancement......so that i can raise request with basis team
I shall be great ful if u can asnwer below question
First, you need to create a variable for expiry date with processing type as customer exit, and then give the necessary info.
In details tab, unchk ready for input as we wont be taking the value from the prompt.
    Now go to CMOD transaction.
Open the correcsponding project which has the exit code
(How can i identify the project which has exit code)
and go to ZXRSRU001 module inside taht.
Go to the module where u write the exit.
(How to locate the required module)
Then, under i step 1, write the code:
    IF I_STEP = 1.
CASE V_NAME  (What is 'V_NAME',Is it my variable technical name)
WHEN 'X' " X is the variable u created for the exit
    l_s_range-low = SY-DATUM.
    l_s_range-opt = 'I'.
    l_s_range-sign = 'GT'.
    APPEND l_s_range TO e_t_range.

    Hello,
I have the same problem with Flat mode is not supported! at ... Characteristic.setHierarchy(Characteristic.java:335):
Open, close, reload of the query does not help.
Other SDN-thread "500 Internal Sever - Flat Mode is not Supported!" related to transaction RSRT.
Execution of query via RSRT works, but the problem still persists in the BEx Web Analyzer.
Could be related to a BEx Web Analyzer "bookmark" ("Personalize Web Application").
I have not deleted any item. We use SAP BW 7.0 with a patch level approx. 09.2009.
The "flat-mode" seems to be the  "BEx table mode".
SAP hints do not seem to fit here:
    - 715820 BW 3.x Front-End Patch 14 (we use BW 7.0)
    - 874825 SAPBWNews for BW 3.x Front-End Support Package 19
    - 874827 SAPBWNews for BW 3.5 Front-End Patch 08 (we use BW 7.0)
    - 905229 update to SAPTableTree
    - 909824 Termination in flat mode when an object is deleted (old?)
    - 909827 Incorrect InfoProvider-dependent characteristic values
    - 910602 Condition includes too many characteristics (usage of deleted elements)
    - 915215 Termination when a query definition is changed (old? visibility of elements?)

    Any new solutions?

  • Values Bifurcation in BEx Query Designer

    Dear BI Gurus,
In a column we are getting both positive value and -ve value. We want to bifurcate the values and show only +ve value in one column and show -ve value in another column. Is it possible through Bex query designer?
Please through some light on this issue.
    With Regards,
    Balachander.S

    Hi bala,
This can be achieved by creating two calculated Key figures, Just use else if condition in the formula and use if KF1=KF>0 then KF else 0, here all the positive values will be displayed similarly use if KF2=KF<0 then KF Else 0 it will display all the negative values. But here all the values will be displayed. Just hide the Key figure and display only calculated keyfigures. Else you can use exceptions to differentiate the positive and negative values.
    Hope this helps.....

  • Need help in bex query designer

    hi experts ,
Actually we had a ODS where the KPI's values  for all weeks are present and also the module.
in the query designer we need to show the targets for respective KPI's modulewise.
    the requirement is
    module-selections
    week no-selection
    targetweek1week2---week3
    KPI1--10090---90--
    90
    KPI2--95-7885-----90
based on the module selection the targets values should change and also there should not be any restriction on weeks.
and also exceptions needs to be done for color coding.
we actually implemented cell defination for getting the above requirement , but here the problem is that we need to fix the  targets and there is arestriction on the weeks . but the requirement should be dynamic i.e, the targets should be configurable and the weeks should not be restricted.
in the backend ODS all weeks data is present. we just need an idea how to fix these targets and also color coding for the respective KPI's without using cell defination.
Kindly throw some pointers how to acheive this..
    thanks in advance,
    Madhu

    Hi Madhuri,
Ur requirement can be done by using a customer exit variable, keeping any sap stand. time characteristics value.
If u want to define the any selection dynamically, make a new selection with the text variable and call the customer exit variable into it and assaign the corresponding KPI into it and there by u can define the offset value as well.
for writting the customer exit,u need to contact ur ABAP'er and say the requirement.
    Hope this helps!!

  • Group by in BEx query designer

    Hello experts,
I'm new in BEx query designer and I'm currently working on displaying the maximum of a list of values and group them by calendar day like the exemple below:
    CalendarDay
    Client
    Amount
    02.09.2014
    A
    3000
    02.09.2014
    B
    2000
    03.09.2014
    A
    1500
    03.09.2014
    B
    1600
The result I need to display is as below:
    CalendarDay
    Amount
    02.09.2014
    3000
    02.09.2014
    2000
    OverAll result
    3000
    03.09.2014
    1500
    03.09.2014
    1600
    OverAll result
    1600
What's the best solution for this ?! is it to work with calculated Key Figure or Exceptions ?! Would any one help me to get such result.
    Thanks a lot

If you need to show the data as you mentioned then i think you are suppose to keep client in rows and also you have to switch on the result row display for that characteristic.
Because if you remove it then data will get aggregated based on calday and it will become 2 records only.
To get the maximum value you have to use Exception aggregation.Create a new formula and put the amount kf inside it.Hit the aggregation tab--Exception aggregation as maximum--Reference characteristic as client.
If this does not work then we can also apply nested aggregation based on calday.
