Excess archive generation after migration

hi
Am facing large size of archive generation after my migration to 11.2.0.1 from 10.2.0.1 in windows 32 bit.
While I was using 10g my total archive size in a day was only 10GB. now after the migration its coming al most 50gb.
Guys.. can anybody let me know what i need to do to reduce my archive generation?
Am using the same application and queries as in 10g.

Disconnect everyone from the database.
Or learn how to read documentation and how to administer Oracle.
Or read up on the differences between 11gR2 and 10gR2.

  • Excessive Redo Generation After Upgrading on Oracle 10gR2

We had our production database hosted on Oracle 9.2.0. Few months back we have migrated it to Oracle 10.2.0.4.0.
After Migration I have noticed that redo generation has become very very high. In earlier case no. of log files generating in production hours were around 20 where as after migration it become around 200 files per day. I have run statspack report on this database. Statspack report is also saying that log file switch wait is become very high. Parameter timed_statistics has also been set to FALSE. Workload on the database is same before & after upgrade. Queries running in the sessions are also same before & after upgrade. All the parameters & memory structures are same after upgrade. Satatpack report is saying that db block change & disk write is become very high. I had used import export for upgrading the databases. Please provide a solution for this problem.
Thanks In advance for all your favours....

  • DB Migration from SAPDB to Oracle 10g - Archive access after migration?

    Hi!
Our customer plans to move his SAP system landscape from one Service Provider to another. During this not only new hardware is used but also a DB migration will be done using the procedure described in the SAP System Copy Guide (SAPDB -> Oracle - Offline Export in source system,
    Import in target system).
SAPSID and client will be the same in the new environment, but of course HW key, IP-adress, Server name, Domain name and obviously Installation no. will change. SAP Note 153433 as well as System Copy Guide do not completely clearly tell me, whether we will face problems when trying to access our archived data after the migration. It's not completely clear to me, how the Archive References are
built: Only using SAPSID and client? Then everything should be okay, because here we plan no changes.
So do we have to face any problems when trying to access and/or reload the archived files and objects after the movement to the new service provider? Are there any pitfalls concerning archviving and archive access we have to take in mind?
Add. info: The archvied files and objects are stored in an IBM Common Store which will be moved physically from location A to B. So here nothing changes.
Thanx in advance for any hint.
BTW: SAP Notes 153433, 460620 and 53068 were already studied. SAP support said this is a consulting issue ... ;-(
    Regards,
    Volker Kolberg

    Hi Volker,
I haven't worked much on archiving, however Archived files are flat files ( I think) and hence these files should be common for all databases.
However a good strategy is to first test. I think you must have already thought about it however still here is what you could do.
Take system copy of the system you want to migrate ( you could choose a development system where there is not much data)
Delete data the production clients in the copied system.
Archive some data using object something like WORKITEM which is harmless workflow object.
Migrate the system and try to reload the object
    Hope that helps.

  • Excessive archive generation

    DB: 817
    OS : Sun 5.3
Suddenly my db started generating too many archive logs, normally it used to generate dozens of archive logs in a day, now a day's it's started generating in 2 to 3 minutes, Nothing has been change in the database side and at application side. What could be the obviosu reason for the same?

    Hi Vignesh,
Thanks for the reply, I have checked, there is no background job or process is running.... Still rate of archive generation is very high.

  • Online Archive folder can't be opened after migration into Exchang2013

Online Archive folder can't be opened after migration from Exchaneg 2010 to Exchange 2013.
Windows8.1 MS office 2013, Exchange 2013, Online mode
error: Cannot start Microsoft Outlook. Cannot open the Outlook window. The set of folders cannot be opened. Microsoft Exchange is not available. Either there are network problems or the Exchange server is down for maintenance.
Is there any solution about this issue?

Select it and open the Info dialog. In the Sharing & Permissions section, you should have read & write access, and everyone (else) should have read access. If that's not the case, click the lock icon, authenticate, and make the necessary changes. Close the window and try again.

  • User online archive mailbox not opening after migration

I have exchange server 2010. Currently migrating mailboxes from exchange 2010 to 2013 CU7.
After migration, user able to open primary mailbox with no issue.
But archive they are not able to open, its showing not available.
But after re configuring outlook profile, user able to access both primary and archive.
But configuring profile for more than 4000 users, its very tough..
Is there any way to achieve this automatically...
    thanks

    Hi,
I notice that the version of current Outlook client is 14.0.6112.5000, Outlook 2010 needs to be on at least SP1 and have November 2012 update (14.0.6126.5000) at the minimum installed to be able to connect to Exchange 2013, so make sure your clients is patched.

  • 2012 R2 Generation 2 VM Boot Failure after Migration

I have encountered an issue after migrating virtual machines to a new host. It happens whether the VM has been moved with live migration or though a shutdown, export, import process.
The hosts are both 2012 R2 Datacenter. The virtual machines are Generation 2 and also have 2012 R2 Datacenter. All the systems where installed with the April ISO. The only difference between the hosts is that one only has no other updates. The other has
all recommended and optional updates as off 2014-10-10.
Once the machine has migrated to the updated host the next time it attempts to boot up (after a restart, ect.) it will fail with one of these two messages.
This happens whether the virtual machine has updates or is a fresh install from the April ISO. Once the machine is migrated back to the host that does not have any updates it will boot back up without any issues.
    Notes:
The virtual machines where created on the host without any updates.
When creating a new virtual machine on the host with updates the 2012 R2 ISO bluescreens.
I setup another host machine without updates, tested migration to it and then ran updates. Same issue occurs.
I have tried boot with and without secure boot enabled also tries it with drive signature enforcement disabled. No change either.
This does not happen with generation 1 machines.
What I am trying to figure out is, if it truly is an update issue which update might it be so that it can be avoided? It would also be interesting to figure out if there is a workaround to get affect virtual machines to boot back up.
Let me know what your ideas are or if there are any other tests you would like me to provide.

I would like to thank you for your suggestions. It wasn't the updates that where causing the problem, it is actually a side effect of them requiring a restart. In addition to running updates on the new host servers, I also added a second network card.
The virtual machines are stored on an SMB 3.0 file share. When the server gets restarted SMB 3.0 finds and starts using that second network card in a multichannel configuration. (There are two physical cards / 3 ports / 3 vlans).
I found this out when I looked at the multichannel configuration on the server without updates, but had this network card installed. It wasn't using it at all. After a restart of that server the VM's where exhibiting the same broken behavior. Simply disabling
that network card on the machine got them to work again. The server with updates, because it had been restarted already, was trying to use this network card in SMB 3.0 multichannel.
It just happened to be a coincidence of timing. On the other hand the issue moves to why this second NIC would be causing these issues. I am not entirely sure if it actually has to do with SMB verses something with Hyper-V and the network card. After the
restart the saved state of VM's on it failed to start. Removing the saved state and trying to boot them resulted in the same digital signature error. However, like I mentioned, disabling the network card worked. Virtual machines with
save states restored themselves and those without them also would boot. Again, I will post what I figure out.
    Thanks again,
    Kevin

  • Report generation failed after migrated from 6i to 10g.

    Hi All,
i have migrated the 6i application to 10g.
There was a report which was generated in .html format and saved to a remote server location.
Now after migration to 10g,when i run the report through the URL ,It is still generated on the same remote server location but the it is not showing in the application interface.
    Please help....
    Thanks,

    Hi All,
We try to migrate a 8i database to 10g by using the exp and imp. All tables and data are already migrated by imp. During the imp, there are errors said the trigger compile with errors.
When login to the em to check, I found these 2 errors.
    Line # = 2 Column # = 1 Error Text = PL/SQL: SQL Statement ignored
    Line # = 2 Column # = 60 Error Text = PL/SQL: ORA-00942: table or view does not exist
My trigger is a very simple one:
    BEGIN
    Select TB_COUNTER_SEQ.NEXTVAL INTO :NEW.INCREMENT_NUM FROM DUAL;
    END;
And I'm sure the "TB_COUNER_SEQ" is there.
Do I need to change anything on the trigger when migrating from 8i?
In fact, besides this trigger, all other trigger imp to this schema are having the same error. The schema in the 10g is a newly created one, is there any special right I need to create grant to this new user?Grant the necessary privileges on the tables (and any other objects used, like sequences) directly to the owner of the triggers. Privileges granted to a role don't count in AUTHID OWNER stored procedures; the privileges have to be granted to the owner of the stored procedure (or to PUBLIC).
It the error is occurring at position 60, then it looks like you don't have privileges on dual. Login as SYS and
GRANT SELECT ON dual TO PUBLIC;You may need synonyms (perhaps public synonyms) for the objects, too.

  • Excess archive log generation

    Hello to All,
lot of archives are generating by the production database since 15 days.Nearly 30 archives are generating per hour. Before only one or two archives are going to be genarated per hour. The size of logfile is 300m and database is having 3 log groups. Now i want to know which application or which user is generating this much of archives. How i can find the reason for this much of archive generation.
    Thankx...

Can you tell us the Oracle version which you are using?
For the time, you can query v$sess_io to findout the session which is generating too much redo.

  • Problem in deploying EJB2.0 webservice after migration

    Hi,
Our portal server is recently upgraded from 7.01 to 7.31. As part of the migration activities, we have migrated the existing EJB 2.0 (webservice) DC's using NWDS 7.31 by adding all necessary dependencies...

    Hi,
My issue got resolved. First I undeployed the existing one (particular DC) from deployment perspective then build the DC and deploy it. Issue gets resolved. I was facing the issue with Webdynpro Java DC.
Creating a new DC is not the solution as sometimes there are lots of DC to be migrated and its not possible to create each time a new one.

  • Issues with old calendar items after migration from SBS2008R1 to Windows 2012R2+Exchange 2013

    Hello,
After migrating a customer from Windows Small Business Server 2008 R1 to Microsoft Windows Server 2012 (DC) and Microsoft Windows Server 2012 & Exchange 2013 there are a few issue regarding
the GAL and old migrated calender items that we are unable to resolve:
Old calender items which were Exported to PST when the Server 2008 R1 environment was still live were imported to the new mailbox of the user, located on the Exchange 2013 mail database. This
seemed to be working just fine.
The problems arise when a user tries to edit or re-send an old calender item. There actually are 2 problems:
    1. When resending an old calender item, OLD GAL entries are used (even when re-entering the contact details) and the emails are send to nobody and you get the mail back from postmaster
    2. When updating an old calender item you get an error that you do not have permissions, probably because you are NOT the 'old' Exchange user.
    Thanks in advance!

Did you use Exmerge or similar to export?
You may have an issue like that explained here.

  • Using Time Machine AFTER Migrating

I used Migration assistant to switch from a macbook to a macbook pro (successfully). However, now Time Machine failed to find the old Time Machine backup drive. I had hoped that I would be able to retain my backups after migrating. Is this not possible?

Actually, Time Machine does not use an IP address in the name of the backupdb, but rather the MAC address, the hardware address hard-coded into each individual Mac.
I just upgraded to a newer Mac last week, so looked into this. I thought it would be nice to keep all my backups back to my Leopard installation.
While it is possible to "merge" the backups from the older Mac to the newer one, on reflection it seemed to me to be more hassle (and potential danger, if you inadvertently restore an older system-type file) than it's worth.
Instead, I decided to keep the old backupdb around for a few weeks, just in case I remember that I've lost something; its files can still be accessed. If I don't realize I'm missing something within that time, I probably never will. So I will eventually just delete the old backupdb to free up space.
It's important to remember that the primary purpose of Time Machine is to enable restoration of a failed hard drive or inadvertently deleted file. TM is not intended to be a permanent archive of everything on the drive; none of us has enough spare hard drive space for that. For those files I want to archive in virtual perpetuity, I archive them separately to a safe location or DVD/CD.
Another option, if you want to retain that older backupdb, is to use SuperDuper! to create a disk image of it which you can store and access at will.
    Hope this helps.

  • Missing Discoverer reports after migrating the EUL to new Database.

Our Environment is Discoverer Relational- OLTP
We have recently migrated the source database from Oracle 9.2.0.6 to 10.2.00.0 RAC, this made us to migrate the Discoverer to new database in production.
Below are the database objects we migrated to new database.
    1. EUL schema
    2. Schemas referred by the Objects in the EUL (schemas containing functions, tables, views etc)
    3. Based on trigger we created to filter active discoverer database accounts, migrated only active database users to new database.
Note: we had almost 4000 Discoverer users from 2005, since many of these users moved out of company or not using discoverer permanently, and there are users who used discoverer once in year or once in 6 months.
Finally we come up with 300 Active Discoverer users to be migrated to new database.
    Issues: After migration
Some of the migrated users did not get their reports migrated which are shared by other users? [Since we didn’t migrate these users schemas as they are not active].
We have queried the EUL5_DOCUMENTS table in new database for a particular inactive users account (account which is not migrated) is not showing any reports owned by him.
Since we have migrated EUL schema and active users new database, is this will effect the EUL, [Information related to non active users gets deleted from the EUL in New Database]
Some users who are not figured in the active migrated list are requesting to get access to discoverer on new database. Can you please suggest the correct way to migrate these accounts.
    Exporting the accounts will work?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi ARS,
Please check the following item in your new database.
    1. log_archive_max_processes Most properbly value set for this parameter is low ( may be it's set to 1.) Please increase up ( 4)I am curious to know what makes you think 4 is the right magic number for log_archive_max_processes - after all, he's only got one archive destination.

If you never mark your questions as answered people will eventually decide that it's not worth trying to answer you because they will never know whether or not their answer has been of any use, or whether you even bothered to read it.
It is also important to mark answers that you thought helpful - again it lets other people know that you appreciate their help, but it also acts as a pointer for other people when they are researching the same question, moreover it means that when you mark a bad or wrong answer as helpful someone may be prompted to tell you (and the rest of the forum) what's so bad or wrong about the answer you found helpful.

After migrating data from Time Machine, some of my photos are not showing up in iPhoto LIbrary view. I get a 'dashed rectangle." When I click on it I get ' ! in a Triangle" When I click on that, I actually can see the photo. I want to see all  my photos in 'Library' view, and I can't figure out how these photos seem to be arbitrarily hidden. Help, please.
