Excessive Heat

Experiencing excessive heat after 20+ minutes of use.

Do you see a screen that gives you an excessive heat warning and makes the device unusable until it cools down? If not, it's just normal heating that's caused by the processor working hard. Make sure you've updated to the latest iOS or else your iPad is working harder than it needs to

  • Excessive Heat from 23" Displays

Has anyone heard of excessive heat coming from the 23" display when you have 2 attached to a new G5? The heat comes directly from the screens. This is not for me but a friend has this problem and has asked if I knew of anyone that could help.

By "comes directly from the screens" does your friend mean that he/she can feel heat being emitted right from the front surface of the screen? Is that the objection? I can tell you that an LCD backlight is not completely free of near infra-red emissions. You will feel heat being thrown directly at you from the screen. But it is generally a pretty small amount until you get into large size, LCD TVs that have several, large backlight tubes. If you put your hand or face up close to one of those screens, you will feel a significant amout of radiated heat, like a space heater.
The amout of infra-red heat will diminish in proportion to the backlight level. Tell your friend to try turning down the brightness, if possible. That will also cut the heat coming through the screen.

  • Bulging Battery / excessive heat when charging

    Hello,
I have a bit of a problem with my blackberry:
    1. Annoying unread messages that won't go away
    2. Excessive Heat when charging
    3. Bulging Battery
Do you guys thinks that this warrants for a warranty exchange? Or is it ok for me to keep using it?

With annoying unread messages, you have to deal it with your carrier if its SMS or email provider if its email.
With bulging battery and excessive heat when charging - please refrain from using your phone while charging OR you may look for the best Blackberry charger (Model: PSMC04A) because the output is 700mA unlike the charger that came with your phone, its only 200-450mA. This is not meant to use while you are charging but because its a pretty fast charger, it doesnt take much time to complete the 100%

  • Fan error and excess heat on ENVY DV6t-7200

    I have a laptop-
    ENVY DV6t-1200, product#B6C70AV. Windows 8.1.
The computer is only 14 months old, so it is freshly out of warranty. I have been noticing unusually loud fan noise recently. It is not consistent. Sometimes it remains loud for my entire computing session. Sometimes it quiets down after several minutes, sometimes it is not loud at all.  I'd say 75% of the time, it is loud though... And the computer gets VERY hot on the bottom left side in the area of where the fan vents are located.  So hot that it almost burns to the touch after about 30-45 minutes of computer usage.
Just today, after waking laptop from sleep, I had a black screen with white text stating something to the effect that "windows detected the fan is not properly cooling the computer and may result in damage, etc.." I don't remeber exact phrase.  I went to try to take a screenshot by pressing windows key and prt scrn, but the message page disappeared and normal windows 8.1 start screen appeared.  The computer seems to be functioning normally.  But the loud noise, the strange fan warning, and the intense heat lead me to believe I have a growing problem.
ANY ideas on what I should do at this point?

    Hello Andrew01,
Thank you for posting on the HP Forums!
I understand you are experiencing a "system has detected that a cooling fan is not operating properly" error. This could be a result of faulty hardware, or a recent software implication. I apologize for the inconvenience but I will do my best to assist you! To start, please follow the troubleshooting in this document: System Fan (90b) error message on startup
Although the title of the document is "System Fan (90b) error message on startup", the troubleshooting steps presented are relevant and effective. I also provided this document because I believe this is the error that you witnessed, though it's possible that is isn't the same error. If those steps do not work, here are some other suggestions to attempt: Reducing Heat Inside the PC to Prevent Overheating
If these steps do not work, the hardware is malfunctioning. I would contact HP support, to verify what your options are, or take it to a local repair shop.

  • Excessive heat on 1.67Ghz G4 Powerbook

I have always noticed the bottom of the Powerbook to be extremely hot, particularly when plugged in to the AC adapter.  I've been told by various Apple technicians that this is a characteristic of the higher processor speed of the Powerbook G4.
Has anyone else experienced this problem:  Sometime it's too hot to hold on one's lap.  Would a lower wattage AC adapter (if available) solve the problem? The current one is 45W.
    Thanks,

I could be a 65 Watt PS; I sold it recently on eBay and the buyer has complained of the heat.
I had it reconditioned by Apple and complained at the time (Oct/'10) about the overheating.  I think they said it had to do w/the higher processor speed which is max for that model.  It seems to me it always ran hot.  Just wanted to confirm others had the same observation.
There ARE 45W supplies, they came w/the iBook G4 which I also sold.  Perhaps I mixed them up and shipped the 45W w/the Powerbook.  I would think the 45W supply would run cooler.
    Thanks

  • Excessive heat while using BootCamp/FSX

    Hello,
I am using BootCamp to run FSX and it is working fine; however, I am concerned with the amount of heat my MBP is generating. It becomes uncomfortable for the lap after awhile. Is this a serious concern, or is heat normal and not harmful?
    My thanks in advance.

    FWIW you should not be using your MBP on your lap. It is a notebook not a laptop. Read your Users Guide page 66;
Proper handling Set up your MacBook Pro on a stable work surface that allows for
adequate air circulation under and around the computer. Do not operate your
MacBook Pro on a pillow or other soft material, as the material can block the airflow
vents. Never place anything over the keyboard when operating your MacBook Pro.
Never push objects into the ventilation openings.
The bottom of your MacBook Pro may become very warm during normal use. If your
MacBook Pro is on your lap and gets uncomfortably warm, move it to a stable work
    surface.

  • Excessive Heating of Hard Disk afer Servicing by HP Authorised Center

    Dear Friends,
I am having Compaq Presario CQ40 616TU. Its warranty was till 14th November 2010.
I was having problem with the DVD Writer for which I submitted my Laptop to Intarvo HP Service Centre at Okhla.  The problem was rectified by replacing the DVD writer but they have disassembled my Notebook for checking other problems too.
Now after getting it back from HP service center, I have found that the Hard Disk of my Laptop is heating more than my CPU which problem was not there earlier.
I am shocked and dismayed because now I have no solution because the warranty period is over.
Now kindly suggest me what to do and what could have been the problem.

  • Excessive Heat when charging

Whenever I charge my ipod using either my PC or portable speakers with a docking station, after only a minute or so, my ipod will start to heat up. First over the left side of the click wheel, the towards the screen and soon after about 10 mintes the whole unit it to hot to even handle. I can hear the hard drive reving up, and then slowing down constantly while this is happening. My ipod stil works fine, all my music and videos work great. Athough while connected to my PC, it will not sync, or bring up Itunes.

That doesn't sound good at all and I don't think anyone here can help you. If still in warranty, contact Apple. If out of warranty, you need to make a financial decision:

  • Excessive Heat, 27" 2010 iMac?

    Hello,
I've noticed that my 27" iMac gets really hot all along the upper portion of the aluminum behind the screen, with especially high intensity towards the upper-left-hand corner.
It's so hot it actually hurts to touch it.
I downloaded the iStat Widget to get a factual read on the temps.  Here are the numbers it reported (in degrees Farenheit):
    HD = 135
    CPU = 113
    Ambient = 81
    CPU Diode = 140
    CPU Heatsink = 137
    Mem Controller = 130
    Optical Drive = 124
    Power Supply 2 = 140
Are these numbers too high, or are they within expected range for this system?
    Thanks,
    Matthew

    Hi,
If the Heat is worrying you,  you could try a SMC Reset...

  • Excessive Heat generated viewing Flash Media

    I have a Apple Powerbook 15" w/1.6 Ghz, 2 GB SDRAM, OSX
    10.4.10
I loaded a temp tool to read processor heat in real time.
With machine at idle, the temp is right at about 100F
Go to any video with Flash Media, and the temp reaches 155F.
I just checked the version of Flash Player, and it is V9
Processor Activity Monitor is also maxed out.
Why is it cheap portable DVD players have no issues with heat
    or huge processor loads?
It's not enjoyable watching ones Motherboard melt every
soldered socket just to watch a micro video.

Your laptop is not overheating at all. If those were Celsius,
then we have a reason to be worried. Laptops are not the best for
heat management, you have no reason to be worried. Your temps are
fine. The activity monitor is maxing out because whatever you are
watching is obviously very processor intensive, and you are lacking
in that department. Overall, you are fine, and this isn't a Flash
Player issue. Why are cheap portable DVD player able to handle
this, well, that is what they are made for, and solely for that
purpose. They play DVDs and that is it. You have a computer, with a
slew of moving parts, and processes running in the background. If
your computer only played DVDs, than that would be all it is worth,
but you can play DVDs, burn DVDs, surf the web install
applications, the list goes on and on.

  • Excessive heat, and slowdowns

Lately, whenever my Mid 2010 MacBook Pro is plugged in for at least 15 minutes, the system gets pretty hot. sometimes, when I use Chrome, the system gets hot anyways. Also, this computer was taking excessively long to load the contents of my 'applications' folder! what should I do... I'm going to reinstall snow leopard, but if that doesn't fix my problem, then what?

Hi. 70% would definitely be high enough to push the temps up and slow things down. Which App/activity was running at 70%? does quitting it cause the temps to decrease and the computer to speed up?
