Exch 2013 - Someone Relaying Email Through Server, there are thousands are emails in Queu. Please help me urgently

You need make sure your Receive connector is not allowing IP address \ host from the internet to open relay using it.
If you open the tracking log you will be able to see which connector is allowing the relay.

    ello,
    We are using NAV 2013 to externally relay email outside and inside through our in house Exchange server 2013.
    I created a new Frontend connected with "TYPE" Custom and selected specific ip to configure relay through exchange server.
    Once created the Receive connectors I want only Anonymous permission to be set under permission group and not exchange users as this is allowing external 3rd party exchange server to relay emails through our exchange server.
    When i edit the properties of the exchange server to uncheck Exchange Server it gives me an error
    "You must set the value for the PermissionGroups parameter to ExchangeServers when you set the AuthMechanism parameter to a value of ExternalAuthoritative."
    My motive is that I want to allow only the NAV2013 to relay emails through our exchange and no other exchange server or any other application for security reasons.
    Once i created a Receive Connectors bydefault TLS is selected and then i put a tick mark on Anonymous but as soon as i save i get error "You must set the value for the PermissionGroups parameter to ExchangeServers when you set the AuthMechanism parameter
    to a value of ExternalAuthoritative." and it doesn't let me save unless i select Exchange Server
    I have followed the same link that you provided me.
    There is another problem as well, I have restricted a distribution group from receiving email from external to the organisation but as soon as i created this relay connectors this group starts receiving email external to the organisation which is very strange.
    I tested by disabling the relay connector and then sending email from gmail and then i get a bounce in gmail and the DG doesn't receive email but as soon as I enable relay connector the distribution group starts receiving email.
    I have also recreated the connector as well but still the same issue.

    Please double check whether the "You must set the value for the PermissionGroups parameter to ExchangeServers when you set the AuthMechanism parameter to a value of ExternalAuthoritative" is an error, we can safely ignore it if it
    is only a warning message. 
    I found a related KB for your reference even if the Exchange server version is mismatched.

    Authentication tab: Checked TLS and Externally Secured.

  • Is there throttling going on here? Constantly queued emails on Hybrid Exch 2013 server with error RecipientThreadLimitExceeded in message tracking logs...

    Please let me know if anyone knows an answer to this one... We're in a Hybrid Exchange environment, with 2 x Exchange 2007 servers,  and 1 x Exchange 2013 Hybrid server which is pointing to Office 365 for the purposes of relaying mail to O365 while we
    migrate our users out there.
    We have just finished migrating, but just a couple of days ago we started experiencing delays in email delivery to O365... Not all mail, but some!  Incoming email or locally generated email gets relayed out through the Hybrid server and out to O365, but
    not all email is delayed... only some, but it's constant.  During the busiest part of the day, about 200 messages are sitting in the Queue in Exch2013... but they all eventually resolve between 5 and 45minutes.  The users are not happy.
    The last error in the queue viewer for each hung email reads:  451 4.4.0 Temporary server error.  Please try again later.
    If I look at the message tracking logs, I find an interesting item -- "RecipientThreadLimitExceeded":

    I have tried to find some documentation on resolution for this RecipientThreadLimitExceeded error, but I can only come up with some Exchange 2011 documentation which recommends adding some entries to the EdgeTransport.exe.config file to bump up the RecipientThreadLimit
    value... I have not found anything pertaining to 2013.  I cannot even find any powershell commands to see what the current RecipientThreadLimit is on 2013!  Aghg!
    Has anyone seen this before, or have any recommendations?

    After many days of frustration, Microsoft Support finally resolved this issue.  Believe it or not, but the issue was actually on the Office365 side.  Here's the fix:
    Exchange Admin Center -> Mail Flow -> Connectors -> Inbound Connectors
    Open your "Inbound from <guid>" with the "On-premises" connector type
    Click on Scope -> scroll down to "Associated accepted domains"
    We had an entry in there "<organization>.mail.onmicrosoft.com"... Microsoft support had us remove this entry so that the box was completely empty.
    That RESOLVED it... amazing what what little entry could do.  We've had this entry in there for about 2 months, and it had been working fine.  Support acknowledged that several customers have had this issue, that they are working on getting it fixed
    on the back-end.

  • Sending external emails thru Mail relay in Lion Server

    Hi,
    I've setup Lion Server with a Mail Relay for outgoing emails and currently paying for x amount of emails per day.
    Does Lion Server send all outgoing emails through the relay, or is it smart enough to know that internal emails (on the same subdomain) or emails generated by web apps on the server itself do not go through the relay because it can deliever it directly into the mailbox that resides on itself?
    We generate a lot of emails internally, but only a handful to external addresses.
    I'm looking for information about this but I havne't found anything yet.

    The mail server first checks the domain of any recipient. If it's a local domain (i.e. one that the server handles) then it just passes that message to the user's mailbox.
    It's only non-local domains that need passing upstream through your relay, so you can send as many internal emails as you like - they won't touch your relay server.

  • Exch 2013 SP1 Mutidomain set up. mail enabled user shows Forest Root Domain email address.

    First let me explain my Exch 2013 SP1 Multidomain set up.
    1. DA as Forest Root domain, having schema master domain role installed.
    DB as Tree Root domain in above forest 
    DC as Child domain in Tree root domain.
    2. After set up, I ran 'netdom query fsmo' on each DC. It displayed schema master role on forest DC and domain role on individual DC on which command was run.
    3. Now to install Exch 2013 SP1, ran appropriate command on forest  DC (i.e PrepareAD, Prepareschema and alldomain).
    4. Brought 1 machine in Child domain and installed Exch 2013 SP1 server on it.
    Now, when I access ECP, Create user, new mailboxdatabse etc. options available only if login to ECP by ForestRootDomain\administrator credentials. please confirm.
    while creating new user, it shows User Login Name with Child.TreeRootDomain.local default but after creating user, it shows [email protected] as Email address. Please confirm.

    Logged on Exch machine by child\administrator user credentials.
    Unabel to get Set-ADServerSettings -ViewEntireForest $true command in exchange powershell.
    can get only Set-AdServeiceAccount command.
    Also if poosible, please confirm, weather multidomain set up is correct?

    You can do this however not sure I would recommend that since if people complain they are getting spammed it could effect your production servers domain/IP, i.e. it could get black listed.   Personally I always recommend using a different system for
    email blast  to protect my production IP addresses and also to keep the load off of exchange as well as email marketing systems have built in capabilities for reporting, opt in/out capabilities etc.
    All of that said perhaps you can tell us more about what exactly it is you want to do and how often?

  • Allow External Server on Cloud to Relay Email

    Hi Exchange Server Expert,
    I have a query to ask. Currently my company has hosted a web server on the cloud with the public IP address. Since it is a web server, we will need to allow it to relay email via the Microsoft IIS to our exchange server. I have tried before for the internal
    server with private ip to relay email on the exchange server by creating a receive connector. however, I never try for the remote server with public ip address. we would like the remote server to relay email to both our internal email (accepted domain in exchange
    server) and also external recipients with the external domain.
    How am I suppose to perform this task?

    I can't login to the web server as it is managed by vendor that configure the web server and we are only being allowed to access the web server via the public URL. basically, i don't know what is the configuration behind. I was being told that they will
    configure the email inside the IIS, which i also don't know how to configure.
    I have tried to configure the relay connector inside the exchange before following the same guide by changing the private IP to the web server public ip. i also allowed the permission group to exchange servers and authentication on "externally secured".
    however after i inform the vendor to test it, it didn't work at all.
    i am not able to test using telnet like what i did when doing relay for my internal server. I can't use telnet to test my web server to check whats wrong with the relay. i would like to test like what the guide do, but it is not allowed me to telnet.
    what should i do to troubleshoot? i think that allowing relay of external server is a security breach which is very risky. am i right?

    Hi Henry,
    Speak to the vendor that manages the web server for IIS setup and ask 'can I use authentication?' If they come back with a 'yes you can' simply provide them with a user/pass so they can authenticate.
    Personally I wouldn't allow a public IP to relay by configuring an Exchange Organisation to allow anonymous relay for a public IP, and would ask that they authenticate.
    If they come back with a no - then we can troubleshoot your Exchange configuration.

    From your description, you can send and receive messages only when you use OWA after migration from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013. If I have misunderstood your concern, please let me know.
    In your case, I recommend you create a new test mailbox in your Exchange 2013 and check if you can send and receive messages on Outlook. If yes, it is recommended to create a new profile to solve this issue.

  • Can LabVIEW send an email through Microsoft Exchange server without an account set up in Outlook?

    I've found sample code that shows how to send email through Outlook using LabVIEW.  On any computer I log into on our network, my profile loads and I have access to the exchange server through Outlook so the code works.
    However, I am developing a program that will run on a lab computer with a generic PC login that is shared among everyone in the lab.  Exchange server/outlook is not set up for the generic user.
    Is it possible to have labVIEW send an email through the exchange server with a server name, username, and password coded into the executable?

    You would need to send a standard SMTP message via Exchange. The Exchange server will likely require authentication, so you won't be able to use the built-in SMTP VIs, as they do not support authentication. If you're on Windows you can use .NET (see this example), or use the OpenG SMTP VIs.

    I receive a pop-up from ICal saying the server does not recognize my user name and password for my me.com email address.  This started yesterday and occurs about every 5 minutes or so.  There are no problems with receiving or sending email through Mail.  I did change me email password several days ago but have no problems sending/receiving since then.

    I fixed the problem.  I opened Preferences in ICal and entered my new password.  No more pop-ups

    We have just had to resync all our physical servers and VMs because the domain controller was issuing the wrong time and date. All VMs and physical servers and DCs now have the correct time and date. Now when I send an email from Outlook the sent date and
    time is still a day ahead. The Exchange server is a VM and the system time and date is correct.
    This also happens if I send myself an email through OWA.

    Your question is not clear. If it is a Yahoo email account, then where does iCloud come into the picture? Or do you mean you are using the yahoo.com email address as your Apple ID? These are entirely different things. The Yahoo email account is not in any way related to the Apple ID that is using that email address as the Apple ID.

    The message, 'Connection to the server failed', appears when synching Groupwise email through Microsoft Exchange on my IPhone 4S. A long string of numbers and letters appears where INBOX should be. The downloading 'wheel' keeps spinning, and the battery is drained quickly as a result. I also get numerous no sender emails with the date 12/31/69 that cannot be deleted. Calendars also are not synching.The exact same settings work for my IPad2. The server works for other IPhone users.     What device does your husband have?  What email server does he use?
    All I can tell you is what Microsoft is saying right now.
    If any other email systems (like gmail, yahoo) work on your device, odds are that your device is fine.

  • I can no longer receive my email through firefox. Also my facebook account doesn't show some of the profile pictures show a different person on someone's name. It appears this is a firefox issues as when I go to explorer it is not a problem at all.

    It seems that through firefox I cannot receive my emails through charter.net and have always been able to before. Also, on my facebook page, profile pictures aren't showing up on some people and on some people a totally different person is showing up.     This issue can be caused by corrupted cookies or cookies that are blocked.
    *check the permissions on the about:permissions page and in "Tools > Page Info > Permissions"
    Clear the cache and remove cookies only from websites that cause problems.
