Exchange 2003 Auto Provision: OIM

I'm trying to provision a user to exchange 2003. I'm using Windows 2003. I can create an exchange account successfully via OIM if I provision it manually.
I've created 2 Access Policies, one for AD and one for Exchange (Priority 1 and 2). They are both supposed to automatically provision a user in AD/Exchange once the account is created in OIM. AD account gets provisioned successfully.
However, Exchange 2003 account gets a status of Rejected on Check AD User Process. So I tried setting the Depends On value in Exchange Resource Object to AD User via the console. Now it gives me a status of Waiting and never actually creates the mailbox.
Help!!!

Yes, turns out it's a bug. Found it on metalink, Doc ID 786449.1

  • Cannot provision Exchange 2003 account in OIM 11gR2

    Hello,
I'm trying to provision Exchange 2003 accounts from OIM 11gR2 but I keep getting errors. My AD connector works and is able to reconcile and provision account and my Exchange connector is linked to it. I've understood that the only mandatory fields in the Exchange 2003 provisioning form are "mail store name" and "alias", so I've tested by only filling those. However, the provisioning does not complete and the logs show this error :

Are you using the version 9 or 11 of the connector? I've done more investigations with version 9 and realized that the DB is not correctly updated by the connector. I've reported the problem with Oracle and a bug has been open. Here are the details :
When reconciling or provisioning a mailbox, a new row is added in the OIU table. This row has "null" as its APP_INSTANCE_KEY. Manually setting the Exchange's app instance key as the value of this column solves the problem.
    Hope this helps!

  • Auto Provision OIM AD

Iam trying to have users request for the Active directory resource. Once they submit the request the request can go to the requesters' administrator.
I have created a pre-populate adapter which will fill up all the reqd fields.
So, as soon as a User selects atypr of resource that they want be proviosned they should be proviosned without going thru the steps of Viewing the screens where process data is provided, and process data is verified.

Yes it is pretty staright forward:
You will create a resource say "AD" and not have any object form associated with it, since all the data you need is being pre populated in your process form. So when the user requests this resource he will simply select the resource and hit submit request. No forms will be shown to him.
Once the request is submitted, if you have an approval workflow in place that approval workflow will get kicked off and after approvals are completed the resource provisioning will start.
This is assuming you are using the ootb request model.

  • Migrating from IIFP + Exchange 2003 to FIM + EXchange 2010

    Hello Everyone,
hope you can help me figure something out
i had an IIFP Galsync synchronising users and contacts between 2 exchange 2003 environment and now i would like to switch to fim 2010 and Exchange 2010,
from what i tried just exporting and importing the IIFP configuration to FIM 2010 works, but from what i know exchange 2003 is provisioned through vb code and exchange tools and exchange 2010 through remote powershell, is there anything to change in the
original galsync extension code to enable exchange 2010 provisioning ?
    thanks !!
    Hitch Bardawil

    Hi there Hitch
The old IIFP galsync solution is obviously deprecated now, so I understand why you are wanting to convert it - but there have been too many architectural changes made in each of the components you're targeting to make any kind of conversion exercise realistic.
It is not an overly complicated scenario to handle in FIM, and as you point out the Exchange 2010 platform integration point is totally different and is even built into the MA itself (see
Management Agent for Active Directory Global Address List (GAL)).  I suggest you have a trawl through old posts on Carol's blog
to read about her take on what you are trying to do.

    Hi,
I think that you have to fill mandatory attrbute in exchange form.
Please fill User Logon Name, Recipient Type, Database, Alias attributes on exchange user form while provisioning.

    Hi,
    Thanks for the reply..
I am using the same resource (ADITResource) with which I am able to provision to AD.From errors on weblogic console,it seems it is looking for Remote script which is required while provisioning to Exchange 2007.But I am using Exchange 2003.

  • OIM - OID (11g) auto-provision thru ldap sync

    Hi,
I have configured ldap sync. I have following questions
    1. We have created custom attributes in OID and referred to custom object class. Now when I try to create user in OIM, user is auto-provisioned to OID. But the custom attributes in OIM are not getting provisioned to OID (unable to see the custom attributes in user object of OID, unless we refer manually the custom object class). Can any one let me know how to auto-provision the custom attribtues into OID?
    2. When user is auto-provisioned to OID, it is not showing any resource profile details of OID in OIM? Is it the expected behavior? But create, udpate, delete are happening as expected.
Please let me know if any one know the solution.

    Hi,
Where you able to achieve this?? i have similar requirment where, i have added 5 custom attributes in both OIM and OID, when i create the users these attributes doesnot get updated on OID....should i add these UDF in any objectclass which OIM understands??please suggest
    Thanks in advance

  • Outlook 2013 won't start with Exchange 2003 on the network

    Hello All,
I have outlined my problem below,  If someone could please help me that would be great!
    Environment
    ==========
SBS 2003 Server Running AD and Exchange 2003
Clients are Windows 7 with Office 2013 and Outlook 2007 (to connect to existing 2003 Server)
    Issue
    =====
I am in the process of Migrating off of SBS 2003 to Office 365.  The situation is that my customer needs to keep the SBS 2003 server until end of life where they will at that time determine a upgrade path.  They however do not want to use Exchange
anymore.    I have migrated their mailboxes successfully to Office 365.
The problem that I am running into is with Outlook 2013.  Because Exchange 2003 server still exists in the network I am unable to launch Outlook 2013.  I get a Message
"The Resource that you are trying to use is located on an unsupported version of Microsoft Exchange Contact your e-mail administrator for assistance"
I have tried to create a new Outlook profile.  However since the exchange server exists still it auto discovers the server for the account.
    Questions
    ========
    1.  What is the best workaround for this situation?  My customer still needs to keep their SBS sever for their domain and plans on retiring the server before Server 2003 End of Life this coming server.  (Upgrade is not an option, nor is getting
rid of the Domain, they are a small company).
    2.  If I disabled the Exchange services on the server would this work?  Would outlook 2013 not detect Exchange
    2003 on the network?
Basically I need to force Outlook 2013 to look at Office 365.
    3.  Configuring Outlook 2013 to manually connect to Office 365?  The problem here is that how do I locate the server name for the manually connection?  I have found some blogs that say to use Remote Connectivity Analyzer https://testconnectivity.microsoft.com/
but I cant seem to get that to work.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
Please refer to the following article to check your migration steps from Exchange 2003 to Office 365:
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/canitpro/archive/2013/05/31/step-by-step-migration-of-exchange-2003-server-to-office-365.aspx
If all mailboxes are moved to Office 365, Outlook 2013 would use Autodiscover service to connect to your Office 365. Please make sure your Autodiscover service is configured correctly in Office 365. Also
verify that all the DNS records and Public Folder are updated and pointed towards Office 365 services. If there is any question about migration to Office 365,
we can ask a question in Exchange Online forum for more suggestion:

  • Auto provisioning for AD is not working in oim11gr2

    Hi All,
I have current environment as OIM 11.1.2.0.7 and AD connector MSFT_AD_Base_11.1.1.5.0 with patch applied 14190610 and Connector_Server_111200
I configured an auto provisioning to AD
I created an access policy based on a role MSAD Users.
i am expecting when i assign this role user should provisioned to AD automatically but it is not done. I also ran the Evaluate User policies scheduler which in enable state.
i provisioned user manualy and its working fine. also i checked access policy with another target application R12 application it is also working fine.
but i dont y it not working for AD . I filled all required fields in process form lyk organisation and AD Server.
I ran in to same issue in DEV at that time i applied BP07 to oim and 14190610 patch to AD connector, after that it was worked
Now my UAT is in same environment still it is not working
    Please suggest me some solution

  • EBusiness Suite User "Auto-provisioning" and  "Self-Request" Problem

I have two types of OIM User, Staff and Contingent
    Staff (Role = Full-Time)
Contingent (Role = Contractor / Role = Consultant)
    Resource Object: eBusiness Suite User
    Here's my RO configuration:
    Auto Pre-populate: true
    Allow Multiple: true
    Self Request Allowed: true
    Allow All: true
    Auto-Launch: true
EBS Connector, by default has two forms:
    UD_EBS_UO: Object Form
    UD_EBS_USER: Process Form
I have requirement which will auto-provision eBusiness Suite User resource to Staff users.
Originally, UD_EBS_OU is the table name used by the RO. For auto-provisioning to work, I have implemented it this way:
First, I have defined a User Group for Staff and assign an Access Policy to it (for users with Role == Full-Time).
Then, I have detached Object Form UD_EBS_UO from the RO. This way, when Staff user is created in OIM, it is automatically provisioned with eBusiness Suite User, though it won't have a Resource Form, only a Process Form. Process Form fields are automatically pre-populated with values (via my Pre-populate adapters).
Now my problem is during Self-Request. Contingent user doesn't get auto-provisioned with EBS RO, but he can self-request for it. Problem is, since I detached the Object Form from the RO, user is not seeing any form during request. And I have a requirement that approver of the request should also be able to view/modify the details of the request form. But that is not possible now that Object Form does not exist for this RO.
Is it possible that Self-Request and Auto-Provisioning works both ways under the same Resource Object? How do I configure that? Appreciate your quick response and help. :)
    Edited by: user10202544 on Feb 10, 2010 3:27 AM

Yes I have set permissions to all users for the Object Form.
It is required for me to have both Self Request and Auto-provisioning work for eBusiness Suite RO.
During approval, however, the approver needs to see the Object Form (where he can view/modify its values before approving it). That's impossible for me since I detached the Object Form from the Resource Object. I need do to this for auto-provisioning to work.
It seems that it doesn't work both ways. Any other suggestions?

  • Exchange 2003 to 2010 Migration and Certificate Issue

    Good Day All -
This is my first post on here, so if I post to the wrong spot or something is incorrect, please forgive and redirect me.
I have a small working knowledge of Exchange and even less about Certificates.
I did an Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010 migration last weekend, and, for the most part, everything went well.  Initially when users first launched Outlook for the first time, (post mailbox move), the received a Security Alert to install the Self-Signed
Certificate for the new Exchange Server.  This was a one time deal and everything was good after that.  Also, I exported the non-self-signed certificate, (for external mail, purchased from Network Solutions), from the Exchange 2003 Server, and imported
it into the Exchange 2010 Server. Again, no issue.
Jump ahead to today. It was brought to my attention that some mobile devices were unable to connect, and in my infinite wisdom ,<sarcasm>, I thought the issue had to do with the certificate(s).  I started troubleshooting and it seems like I've
fixed the the mobile devices being able to connect, but now every time users launch Outlook, they receive the Security Alert for the non-self-signed certificate, over and over again. (or it just pops up while connected to Outlook)
They go through the motions of installing it, but it just keeps coming back.
I have referenced several articles on here, and other sites, but nothing has worked and I'm stuck and fried on this one.
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/940726/en-us
    http://exchangeserverpro.com/how-to-issue-a-san-certificate-to-exchange-server-2010-from-a-private-certificate-authority/
Would someone please help. Thanks very much, (in advance).

Thanks for the reply.  Yeah, I have read many articles, (especially from exchangeserverpro), and have learned alot, but I am definitely a cert novice here.
The cert "error" on my internal Outlook Clients is a Security Alert for
mylocalservername.mydomain.lcl.  When I click to view this certificate it points to
webmail.mydomain.com, which is what the external
    devices use for SSL verificartion.
I'm not understanding why my internal Outlook clients are prompting for this external certificate.
I have the self signed certificate that auto-installed with Exchange 2010, which points to the DNS Names:
mylocalservername.mydomain.lcl and mylocalservername.  This was the server certificate that the Outlook clients installed after they launched Outlook post mailbox migration to the new Exchange
2010 server and everything was good internally.
For my external connection then, I exported the webmail.mydomain.com
from the old Exchange 2003 server, and  imported it on the new Exchange 2010 server; (EMC\Server Configuration\Import Exchange Certificate (Actions Pane)).  Ever since doing this, all Outlook clients, (2007 & 2010)
receive the Security Alert for mylocalservername.mydomain.lcl, but is for the
    webmail.mydomain.com cert.
I have two certs on the Exchange 2010 server; one self signed and one not, (The non-self-signed purchased from a CA and thus the one I imported from Exchange 2k3).
The services assigned to the two certs are:
    Self-Signed, (mylocalservername.mylocaldomain.lcl and
    myservername):
    IMAP, POP, SMTP
    Non-Self-Signed, (webmail.mydomain.com, Purchased from CA)
    IIS
Please let me know if there's anything glaring here that I'm missing, and if not, what you think the problem may be.  Thanks very much.

  • Outlook 2013 not compatible with Exchange 2003

    Hello
Some of my customers bought SBS 2003 R2 just before SBS 2008 was released so they have systems which are only 4+ years old. SBS 2003 came with Exchange 2003 pre-installed. Outlook 2013 does not support Exchange 2003. So they cannot upgrade their Outlook
    clients to 2013 version.
    Microsoft, is this correct?!

If this post is hard to read, it's because of Dragonsoft!!  (sometimes it is like auto-correct on the phone - "I said WHAT!??")
Overall I think this is the most interesting thread that I have ever read on Microsoft.com.
As a computer for professional for over 30 years, I've always followed the context that software products are designed for a three to five-year term, to have more is a luxury.
When I was first in the industry (1983), Microsoft had a tendency to change the software versions every year to two years. As we approached the era of Windows XP there was an expected lifetime use of three years. Every two years a new product would appear.
So, when windows XP lasted well beyond the three-year term, it was pretty exciting to not have to spend money on new product, and we all enjoyed the decade of Windows XP.
The new generation of IT professionals has somehow believe that software products should live more than five years, and it just blows my mind!
The reason that I make this post, is because I've used SBS ever since Back Office Server 4.5, and the versions of small business server (now called Small Business Server) have always appeared on the market 1 to 3 years after the primary versions of
Windows for which they are named.  So I always felt that there was a disadvantage to using small business server in that the products appearing inside of SBS had been on the market for a few years before being incorporated into the SBS package. It
made me feel, at first, that Microsoft was waiting on the level of maturity within the product before creating the SBS package. Now that I look back on the whole process it made me think that the SBS team had some difficulty merging the products into a install
package which could handle the intricacies of the licensing limitations on the SBS system.
SBS 2003 was a great tool when it came out, but I found that it was riddled with security holes. To say the least some of my first SBS 2003 servers had their exchange system hacked by outside influences. (These were external facing servers who had websites
and exchange server running with public domain names, even though there were firewalls!) After a few patches, DNS modifications, reverse DNS entries, and some changes in the exchange system, I was finally able to make the system secure and solid.
My first real nightmare with SBS was when upgrading to SBS 2003 R2, which, yes, appeared around 2005. You cannot simply upgrade a machine from SBS to a new version.  You must purchase a new server, install the new SBS version, and migrate your
entire installation to this new host. (While running SBS 2003 for several years and making backups on a tape, I realized that the new hardware on the market would not support a restore from my tape backup!)  The whole process is rather daunting as not
all of the detailed steps to upgrade work as expected. I had to call, and pay, Microsoft to complete the process because exchange had trouble during the migration.
So off we went with our new installation of SBS 2003 R2.  Then along came SBS 2008!  I went through the same steps again... new hardware, new software, and, yes, paid Microsoft, again, for support to migrate.
When SBS 2011 appeared on the scene I was willing to upgrade again. Having gone through this, twice now, I  fully prepared the client to purchase a new system and to purchase the new software. But because I was faced with the whole entire
nightmare of new hardware, migration, and having to call Microsoft to complete the process, I decided on a new approach. This time we were going to buy server which would run VMware.  (I was not going to get stuck in a hardware box that I could not replace
if I ever needed to restore the operating system due to a massive failure.)  So off I went, purchasing a new box, installing VMware, and installing my favorite operating system, Microsoft SBS!
Well, to say the least, it wasn't exactly as exciting as I had expected. Had some trouble getting VMware to settle into the new hardware, as there seemed to be some compatibility issues, but was able to work it out. Eventually, I was able to get started
on the migration. Things went well up until the point that I got to the exchange migration, and ran into a similar problem as before! A call to Microsoft revealed that it was even a little daunting for the support personnel, but as I documented the things
that they modified, and even performed a little cleanup, after they performed their cleanup!  I can happily say that I'm no longer worried about hardware issues, when it comes to restoring my SBS server in case of a failure!
Overall I'm pleased with having used Microsoft SBS solutions over the past 10 years, but I would never expect, nor would I lead my customer to expect, that a product should last 10 years!
Previous comments have indicated that server should last seven years because they can be depreciated that way, I believe that to be entirely false!  I live in Texas, and the state of Texas DIR program has adopted standards which state that
you should replace your hardware every five years! State agencies have this as a requirement, and it is not optional!  Many state agencies have gone to leasing their equipment, which is a three-year term. (Where do you think off-lease equipment comes
    from, anyway?)
One of my primary clients looked at me one day, and directly ask, "Okay, if we spend the $10,000 on the new server and software, how long should it last?"
Obviously, I wanted to say, "Forever!" But, remembering something that my mother had said (always plan for the worst and you always come out on top!), I said back to them, "I believe we should plan for a three-year lifespan, and if we get
any more than that, it will be a luxury." Needless to say, there have been some upgrades which lasted well more than three years, but there have been some which have been spot on.
The SBS server is a huge savings over purchasing the individual products separately. But there have always been some drawbacks during the upgrade process which makes the entire feasibility of the installation top-heavy when it comes to support costs.
I have noticed is that the SBS servers require more labor to keep them running smooth, especially with backup procedures and backup software, as SBS always requires a third-party product to make a "real" (restorable) backup.
A client's expectations should be that you are taking care of their business without them having to worry about what takes place in the tech room. They understand, and realize, that they can pay you a specific amount of money for your support without necessarily
having to purchase new hardware. But a good, healthy relationship with your client means that they should always be willing to upgrade, whether it is a workstation or server.
If you allow a client to be painted in a corner, then it's not their fault, it's your fault!  Because, they have no idea what the new technology can do, and don't realize what's on the market. It's your job to keep up with what's current and to deliver
expectations which make them realize that each year has a dollar value attached to it, whether it is spent, or not.
If you have a client is unwilling to spend money to upgrade their equipment, then there's something else wrong with their business, and you should probably consider that they may not be in business for very long. So don't make it your problem when
they are unwilling to spend money.  You don't work for free.
One last, quick example of the conversation that I had with a client who was unwilling to upgrade because things seem to be working so well.  I put it like this, "You pay me to make certain that your business operates in good times and in
bad. Right now, everything is fine. If your building were to burn, and the only thing we had were the backups, I cannot go out and purchase new hardware and restore your system successfully.  The equipment that we have operating here is no longer
available on the market.  If I were to find the equipment, it would be out-of-date, and most likely, used, and I cannot guarantee its compatibility or functionality. So, if I can't restore your system to an operational status, then what would you do?
I don't believe there are any number of man-hours you can use to recover the information lost. You would probably have to go out of business! If your business becomes my business, then I would try to move to a position where my data is safe and my business
can continue in the case of catastrophe. The only way I can do this, is to purchase new hardware, new software, and put you back in a position of compatibility with the market. One of the things I always try to do is keep your business operations at a point
where if I die, someone else can come in and take my place. The whole idea here is to keep your business going."
It didn't take them long to come back and surprise me, "Make a list of what you need. Don't give us a list of what we need to get by, tell us what we need to be productive for several years.  We don't want to patch this together
    and always have problems."
And just as a note, your customer can write off $10,000+ per year for new equipment purchases.  I think the number may be higher now. I had one customer who purchased a $15,000 system in December and wrote off $10,000 in one year and the other $5000,
a month later, in the next year!

  • Exchange 2003 - Backup / Restore

    Hi all,
I have inherited an exchange 2003 server (I know it is EOL, but stuck with it for now) I have had a situation were there are 4 mailbox stores on a storage group and the HQ office has requested a mailbox restore from a year ago. There is a third party backup
software which runs a full backup nightly onto tape, fortunately there are monthly tapes and I have located the relevant tape.
I recently ran a restore onto the recovery storage group of the mailbox store which I believe had required mailbox, however I set the restore job not to auto mount it, after the backup completed I got the following error in the application log when I tried
to mount the mailstore in the RSG, eventid 619 source ESE.
I have located a microsoft article that explains that the restore did not complete a hard recovery and this can be performed using the eseutil with the /cc switch. I have looked at the following articles in regards to using the /cc switch (hard recovery)
My query is as follows: the restored job copied the .edb and .stm files to a single location on the data drive and then the log files are on the same drive but a different folder called temp. In this folder there are 10 E00.log files and 1 restore.env file,
also this server has 3 other storage groups each with 4 mailbox stores. Obviously one of these is the one in the RSG. If I run the eseutil /cc command against restore.env will this only replay the logs from the same directory. For example eseutil /cc d:\restore\temp
The restore.env and E00.logs are in the temp directory and the edb and stm are in d:\restore\mailstore, I just want to ensure the the E00.log files from live mailstores does not get effected.

    Hi,
As you know, after April 8, 2014, Microsoft will no longer provide security updates, offer free or paid support options, or update online content such as KB articles for Exchange Server 2003. Online content may remain available as long as Exchange 2003
remains in the Self-Help online support phase.
Companies running Exchange 2003 after April 8, 2014 will be responsible for their own for support. More importantly, because Microsoft will no longer provide security updates, companies that choose to continue running Exchange 2003 accept the risk associated
    with that.
    Best regards,
Regards, Please mark it as an answer if it really helps you.

  • EBusiness Suite User "Auto-provisioning" with Object Form

eBusiness Suite User RO has two forms, 1 Object Form and 1 Process Form
I want to configure access policies to auto-provision EBS RO to OIM users (particularly Staff/Full-time users).
On the Resource Object configuration, I checked Auto-Save. This enables my Object Form to be automatically saved during auto-provisioning. I have pre-populate adapters attached to my Object form, such that during auto-provisioning the fields are pre-populated based from a user's profile in OIM.
However, my problem is, my pre-populate adapters always get xelsysadm attributes and not the user's (whom the request is being created for).
You may ask why I needed the Object Form?? I could have just discard my object form from the Resource Object, and directly populate values in the Process Form.
However, I have a business requirement, that eBusiness Suite User can also be self-requested for certain users (contractor, contingent) which are not part of the auto-provisioning/access policy. This is why I still needed my Object Form.
Is there a way that auto-provisioning and self-requests works both ways under one Resource Object?

Well that's something crucial with OIM request model. AFAIK in such cases the information for requester is populated and since invocation of access policy is through sysadmin so the information of XELSYSADM is populated.
Rather what I would suggest is that attach these pre-populate adapters to the process form and skip flow of the data from Object->Process form. So your request model remains intact and the information you want to pre-populate is also done. Hope this should work and is viable for you.
    Thanks
