Exchange 2007: attachment missing in Outlook 2013 / owa but it was already opened

Hi folks,
We are experiencing a problem with some emails that have attachment.
We have already opened that Excel attachment in the past weeks. Now, Outlook and also owa displays the icon of the attachment (paperclip) but when we open the email there isn’t the file.
It seems that something has removed the attachment from the Exchange server also if Outlook has already downloaded the file.
We are using Outlook 2013 and Exchange 2007.
Today also the paperclip has disappeared...that's very strange!
Any ideas?
Many thanks
Diego

Hi Diego,
From your description, I would like to verify if there are any tips when you open this problematic email. Such as "Outlook blocked access to the following potentially unsafe attachments:". If yes, please post the detailed information for my further
research.

  • Multiple exchange e-mail accounts in outlook 2013

Hello. I'm trying to set-up two exchange e-mail accounts in outlook 2013 (Exchange server is synchronized with Active Directory).
Once I add second account and restart outlook I get password prompt from each of the accounts. And it keeps prompting all the time and one of the accounts do not work. Could you please assist me on how to set-up those multiple exchange e-mail accounts correctly

Setup the second Exchange account in one profile would always keep prompting usernam/password. This is limitation of Outlook profile.
To work around this, I recommand that you may use the tool as below:

  • Exchange 2007 CAS Unable To Display 2013 Mailbox Free/Busy to Clients

    Hi,
I'm in the process of migrating to Exchange 2013 from an Exchange 2007 backend.  I have 2 2007 CAS servers in a Windows NLB named webmail.domain.com, and I'm having a problem with only a single one of those CAS servers being able to display the free/busy
information of a mailbox residing on a 2013 mailbox server.  The other CAS works fine.
Both CAS servers are Exchange 2007 SP3.  Both CAS servers have their virtual directories named webmail.domain.com/{vitual direction url}.  I built both servers from the ground up and configured them at the same exact time performing the same steps
on each.  My 2013 CAS servers are in a Windows NLB for mail.domain.com, and they have all their virtual directories named for mail.domain.com.  These are separate entries in DNS.  Other autodiscover services are working fine.  I have most
traffic flowing Exchange 2013 now as well.
I've done compares on the virtual directories for each 2007 CAS, and they appear to be the same.  If I bypass the NLB and just go directly to the casname01/owa, I see free/busy no problem.  If I go to casname02/owa, then free/busy doesn't work
ONLY for 2013 mailboxes.  It will display 2007 mailbox free/busy fine.  To complicate matters, I still have a 2010 CAS in the environment from a failed O365 pilot.
Where can I look to begin to troubleshoot this?  Thanks.

In the App log on the 2007 CAS, I'm seeing an Event ID 4002 from MSExchange Availability (below).  This made me check my 2013 CAS NLB.  It looks like it is one of the 2013 CAS servers in the mail.domain.com NLB that is causing this behavior.  I
    could still use guidance.  Thanks.

  • Strange Exchange name when connecting with Outlook 2013 to Exchange server 2013 SP1

I've setup a test environment with Windows Server standard 2012 R2 and Exchange Server 2013 SP1...
In- and outbound SMTP works fine, as well as connecting with OWA and Mac Outlook client...
Oddly though when setting up an Outlook 2013 connection....it recognizes the email address correctly, but later on can't connect and shows a dialog to enter the server and email account manually....though the profiled fields show something like:
    Exchange Server: [email protected]
    Mailbox: =SMTP:[email protected]
When I fill in the right fields....it won't connect and falls back to the values above...
Something wrong in the Exchange setup?

    Hmm...found aguide here:
    http://enterpriseit.co/microsoft-exchange/2013/ssl-certificate-request/
Though it doesn't mention anything that with the self-signed certs it won't allow Outlook 2013 to connect...
So from my point of view Outlook 2013 should be able to connect anyway...as during the connect process you can install the self-signed cert.....so must be something else then...

  • Adobe Professional XI crashes when attaching files to Outlook 2013

After opening a PDF if i chose the option of attaching to an email by clicking on mail icon the pdf will attach and send followed by Acrobat hanging and crashing. This behavior is consistent. I am using Outlook 2013 (32 bit) with Windows 8 (64 bit). All programs are updated to the current version.
I have repaired the Acrobat install and the Office install - the crash remains.

I'm not sure.  Depending on which DVD I'm looking at they require either Reader 6.0 or 7.0 to avoid showing the watermark.  The readme files don't say anything specific about DRM, just the watermark and the minimum version requirements.  They work fine offline.  And they're totally openable/readable in Preview, there's just a MARVEL watermark across the middle that's just annoying enough to be distracting.
Looking at one of them in Reader 9, under security I see the following in case it helps:
Allowed: Printing; Content Copying for Accessibility
Not Allowed:  Document Assembly; Content Copying; Page Extraction; Commenting; Filling of form fields; Signing; Creation of Template Pages

  • Exchange 2007 smarthostdelivery missing

    Hi,
Recently, I encountered this problem twice in a span of 3 weeks. We have configured our Exchange 2007 ( sp2 ) CAS/Hub to route outgoing mails to an antispam appliance. We have this done 5 years ago with no problem. Until recently, our users complained they
cannot send mails to external parties. Upon checking the Queue viewer, we found the smarthostdelivery missing and outgoing mails were stucked in the queue ( internal mails are ok). We were puzzled how this could have happened.  We have to restart the
server in order to get the mails to send out. Is the problem lies with the antispam or the Send connector has issues.
    We appreciate any advice.
    Thanks

You say there's no "smarthost" delivery queue, but you say the messages are "stucked in the queue". What queue (or queues) are they? Are there individual queues for each target domain (e.g. gmail.com, yahoo.com, ibm.com, Microsoft.com,
etc.)? Are the message in an "unreachable destination" queue?
If stopping and restarting the transport service doesn't work you may have a connectivity problem. Can you "telnet <smart-host-ip-address> 25" from the machine that's named as the source server in the send connector? Does disabling and enabling
the NIC restart the message delivery?
I think one other thing might be worth trying, and that's to have the messages resubmitted. That should happen if you change the list of smart hosts for the send connector. Try adding some address that doesn't exist in your LAN (e.g. 10.254.254.254) to the
list (it shouldn't be necessary to restart the transport after that, but it wouldn't hurt). If that gets things moving, go ahead and remove the unusable address.
IIRC, disabling and reenabling the send connector would also resubmit the messages.
If your send connector uses an IP address there's no DNS lookup done by the send connector.
There's no DNS lookup done for messages before they're dispatched to the send connector. The decision to route messages "to the outside" is based solely on whether or not the target address can be found in your directory, and whether or not
that address is assigned to a "local delivery" object (e.g. a mailbox, public folder, or DL). If the message can't be delivered locally it's sent to a send connector (of which you may have several). If the send connector has been set up to use
a smart host the messages are sent to the smart host (whose job is to figure out how to get the messages to the destination).

  • Exchange 2007 - User's mailbox disappeared in EMC but they can still send and receive email

We have a user that was complaining about not being in the address book anymore.  After I did a little rooting around in management console I noticed that their mailbox was no longer listed under Recipient Configuration -> Mailbox, but what's weirder
is I can do a search and find her listed in the results - at which point I can right-click her name and do everything I normally can with no problem. Listing all of the mailboxes with PS shows her still there too.  As far as I know, she is the only user
    having this problem.
She can send and receive email just fine, but like I said, she is no longer in the global address list so other users have trouble sending her stuff.  At her computer, I tried repairing her email (under account settings) but the process would fail when
searching for her settings.  I don't know if this is a stupid thing to add, but I did run Clean-MailboxDatabase on our first storage group to see if her mailbox had been deleted or disconnected or whatnot but nothing is currently showing up in Recipient
    Configuration -> Disconnected Mailbox.
    Some info on our setup:
Exchange 2007 on Windows Server 2003r2
AD is on Windows Server 2008r2
Her computer is running Outlook 2010
I did restart our Exchange server 2 days ago to update VMWare tools, but no Windows updates were installed.  She couldn't tell me exactly when this problem started, but it was more-than-likely in the last couple of days as she was recently married and
I had to change her name in AD and Exchange - so everything was confirmed 100% functioning 2-3 weeks ago.
I'm at a lost for what the issue could be, but then again Exchange isn't exactly my forte, so any help would be much appreciated.

First things first - is her mailbox hidden from address lists?  Run
Get-Mailbox <alias> | Fl HiddenFromAddressListsEnabled to find out.  It probably isn't, but we need to clear this, just in case.
Now, assuming it is not hidden, have you searched for both her maiden and married names in your directory?  Often, when the name on a mailbox is changed, the display name is not - and vice versa.  Also, has her email address also changed?
If so, has a secondary proxy address been added to reflect her maiden name?  I'd do this, just to be sure things aren't lost that should be delivered to her.
I can't think of anything else obvious right now.  After you've checked these things, get back to us with their results.

  • Outlook 2013 is crashing almost immediately upon opening it, on multiple computers.

So, I've got this client.  He's a lawyer, he runs a small law office with four employees to help him in his day-to-day work.  I'm his IT guy, and I recommended that he purchase Office 365.
I am beginning to regret making that recommendation.
Now, obviously, in a small law office, e-mail is a pretty essential part of the office workflow.  The lead guy usually corresponds with his office from his home office 45 miles away.  He does so via e-mail.  He's not exactly a stellar typist,
either, so much to my chagrin, he's more-or-less stuck with Outlook.  If he wasn't so dead-set on using handwriting and ink, I would have him using Mozilla Thunderbird in a heartbeat, because my experience with Outlook tonight has been unbelievable.
Thunderbird downloaded, and displays 10,000+ e-mails without skipping a beat, and it's free.  Your product costs $100/year, and is crashing on EVERY SINGLE MACHINE.
Each employee has their own IMAP e-mail account from our webhost, InMotionHosting.  My client has three IMAP e-mail accounts -- his main, public-facing account, his internal private correspondence account, and an account to which all newsletters and
such are going to.  Each employee has everyone else's e-mail account on each of their machines, so they can all easily correspond with eachother and keep track of eachother's progress on one matter or another.
    The problem:
I fire up Outlook, at which point, it begins to Send/Receive from all accounts.  This lasts about a minute, before I am informed that "Microsoft Outlook has stopped working."  If I try to click on ANY other inbox, again, Outlook crashes.
I have tried outlook.exe /safe.  I have tried outlook.exe /cleanviews.  I have ensured that I have the latest Windows updates.  I have ensured that I have the latest Office updates.  I have tried the ScanPST.exe utility.  I have tried
deleting my client's profile, and manually re-adding each and every e-mail account.  I have tried a repair install of Outlook.
Nothing.  Works.  Eventually, it gets to a point where Outlook just crashes, and will not stop crashing whenever I open it.  I can only hope that this is happening to millions of other users, and the woeful lack of action on Microsoft's part
will lead to someone, ANYONE, presenting a valid alternative to Outlook.  Your monopoly on office productivity software is obvious to anyone who uses these.

Hi, in case the antivirus software conflicts with Outlook, please disable your security AVG/Firewall, especially the mail scanner module to check whether it would happen again.
For the further steps, please perform a clean boot to troubleshoot the problem:

You may also try Selective Startup to identify problems with conflicting applications.

  • Exchange 2013 OWA HTTP 500 error when opening another mailbox

We have an Windows Server 2012 Exchange 2013 server with OWA.
All users can login fine, but when I open another mailbox with my Admin account, having enabled access to that user's mailbox, the URL redirects to /owa/auth/errorfe.aspx?httpCode=500 and shows:
    something went wrong
Sorry, we can't get that information right now. Please try again later. If the problem continues, contact your helpdesk
Google won't help me in this instance. Where in the eventlog are OWA events logged?

    Hello,
I am joining to the thread opener, however, we do not use exchange server. we are using the Cloud services through Microsoft and as far as I know, the version is 2013 wave 15 (again, through Microsoft's cloud).
when I open the outlook, I can see the shared mailbox just fine.
when I open the office web access, and I search the mailbox through the 'add another mailbox..' It finds it however when I press the add button I get the HTTP 500 error.
when I tried to open a different mailbox (another shared mailbox I gave myself permissions for), it opens just fine.
it seems (from what I can tell) it is this specific shared mailbox that I cannot open through OWA while others I can.
when I try to open the mailbox in question through a different internet browser (Chrome) I get this Error:
NegotiateSecurityContext failed with for host 'db3pr04mb138.eurprd04.prod.outlook.com' with status'LogonDenied'
the error seems to be persistent on this specific mailbox only regardless to what browser I am trying to access with.
I can only assume that the solutions you (Winnie) offered isn't relevant in my case.
thanks in advance for any attempt to help me with this issue.

  • .XLS attached file in Outlook 2013 opens Word !

    Hi,
I've a strange issue with some of my RDP Servers 2008 R2 (with XenApp 6.5), with Office 2013, Outlook connected to the cloud.
When I try to open a joined xls file in an mail, Word launches!
But if I try to open an XLSX, Excel launches.
And If I detached the XLS, and opened it with explorer, Excel launches!
These servers are deployed using a sysprep image, and there is only Office 2013 Std version installed.
Thats very strange. XLS extension association is correct, and everything worked well at the beginning. Something happens which cause this issue.
Please help me to diagnose and solve this strange phenomenon...

Hi all, and thanks for your responses.
I already tried to repair Office 2013, re-associate .XLS files and re-register Excel, and nothing works.
    Some precisions:
Servers are deployed from a sysprep image (and image is a fresh handmade install) and are going to be used as XenApp servers
1st connexion RDP, as Administrator: Open Outlook mailbox, open .XLS attached file: Excel launches
2nd connexion RDP, as User: Open the same Outlook mailbox, open the same .XLS attached file: Word launches !!!
3rd connexion RDP, as Administrator: Open the same Outlook mailbox, open the same .XLS attached file: Word launches !!!!!
    Something seems to be broken.
Note 1 – If I create a new mail with Gmail, attached the problematic .XLS file, send the mail to my Outlook mailbox, opens .XLS file in Outlook: Excel launches !!!!!
Note 2 – If I forward the problematic mail to my Gmail mailbox, and the opened .XLS attached file, Excel launches.
Note 3 – Everythings works normally with .XLSX attached files.
    So, the issue seems to
only appear when I attached .XLS files in mails created with Outlook, and opened with Outlook.
As Fox Mulder is not available any longer, please help me !!!!!

  • Newly created folder not visible in directory tree (Outlook 2013)

We are using Exchange 2007 on-premise and Outlook 2013 on the client computer.
When creating a folder in a (very large) existing folder structure from within Outlook, it is not shown in the client. When logging in onto OWA it is visible.
If we delete the entire client profile and re-create it (causing Outlook to download the entire structure again), the folder is visible.
When creating a new folder after that, the same issue occurs again.

I am assuming you are running in cached mode and this is not a shared mailbox.  Have you tried forcing a full client synch?  This should force the online version of the folder structure to be recopied to the client. What is happening behind the
scenes is that the client is telling the server to add the folder, but the client's information from the server doesn't yet include the new folder - this is why you see the folder disappear.  Once you force the resync, the server will deliver the updated
folder listing (which I've noticed doesn't happen automatically, sometimes), and the client will then see the new folder (again).

  • Export Mailbox from Exchange 2010 and Import to Exchange 2007

    Hello,
I exported mailbox (1GB in size) from Exchange 2010 to *.pst file; I need to import it into
Exchange 2007 mailbox. Is it supported ?
The operation completed successfully (no errors) but no items were imported; is it due to unsupported backward compatibility or some other issue ?
    Thank you,

I also have the same issue. Exported mailboxes on Exchange 2010 SP3 latest updates using
New-MailboxExportRequest and then tried to import into mailbox on Exchange 2007 SP3 with latest updates. The 32-bit client machine used for the import has Outlook 2010 SP1 (SP2 and later updates causes a different error). I used Outlook 2010 because the E2K10
New-MailboxExportRequest documentation states that you have to use Outlook 2010 or later. The PST files created can be opened and imported via Outlook but not with the
Import-Mailbox cmdlet (with no error as stated in this thread). Other PSTs, not created from E2K10 export do import just fine. I also ran ScanPST.exe against the exported PST and then ran the import again and it worked, everything got imported. Interestingly
the test mailbox PST file I was using was 761 KB but after the ScanPST it was 1,257 KB - must be some difference in the PST format that the Import-Mailbox cmdlet can't deal with.
Does anyone have any other solutions or
workarounds to this. I've got over 900 mailboxes I need this for due to an
acquisition? Has anyone tried using Outlook 2013 on the machine used for doing
the Exchange 2007 imports or does Outlook 2013 also have the same issue as later versions of Outlook 2010 (Exchange Mailbox import failed with error code 2147221233)?

  • Target Audience web part property is missing in sharepoint 2013

    Dear All,
The "Target Audience" web part property is missing in SharePoint 2013. But this was a feature in SharePoint 2007. Is there any other way of doing this in SharePoint 2013
    Thanks,
    Dilip

    Hi,
Here are the reasons & solutions for SharePoint 2010 audience targeting missing:
    1. Enable audience targeting in SharePoint 2010 Site Collection
Go to Site Actions >> Site Setting >> Click on "Site collection navigation" >> under Site Collection
Administration >> Make sure "Enable Audience targeting" is checked.
    2. Audience Targeting feature is depending on SharePoint Publishing feature. So, Go to Site Settings >>
Site collection features >> SharePoint Server Publishing Infrastructure” Activate publishing feature on your site collection.
    3. For Audience Targeting, We need "User Profile Service Application"! So make sure the user profile
service application is provisioned and running. Check the status of "User Profile Service" and "User Profile Synchronization Service" . Verify the UPSA is associated with your Web Application, by going to:
    Central Administration >> Application Management
Manage Web Applications >> Highlight Your Web Application
Service Connections >> Make sure User Profile Service Application is checked.
    Restart IIS!
