Exchange 2007 Database mount error after server crash during defrag.

Most likely but I have copies of the orignal and the temp still.
Is there a way these can be used?? I was hoping not for a MS Support answer... =/

Help!
Half way through copying the temporary database edb file my exchange server crashed.
I now get the following errors when trying to mount the database.
Error:
Exchange
is unable to mount the database that you specified. Specified database:
Mail Store; Error code: MapiExcetionJetErrorPageNotInitiated: Unable to
mount database. (hr-0x80004005, ec=-1019)
I still have the temp
database file from the finished defrag and a copy of the original
database from before it was done. But need some urgent help to get my
system back before tommorow!
I do not have circular logging enabled.

  • Exchange 2007/2010 Console doesn't show up Exchange 2007 Databases after RBAC Implementation

I have implemented a RBAC model after which Exchange 2010/2007 Console won't show up Exchange 2007 Mailbox Databases.
Everything was working fine up until the Users were members of "Exchange Recipient Administrators" Group.
I have created Custom Roles based on PArent Roles, Mail Recipients, Mail Recipient Creation, Distribution Groups & Public Folders and assigned that to a universal security group "Helpdesk operations". I removed membership for Helpdesk operations
from "Exchange Recipient Administrators" Group and assigned the Custom Roles to "Helpdesk Operations" using the cmdlet below:
New-ManagementRoleAssignment "Custom Role" -SecurityGroup "HelpDesk Operations"
Exchange 2010 console shows Exchange 2010 Databases but not Exchange 2007 DAtabases. Exchange 2007 console doesn't show up any databases on New-Mailbox and simply displays a message "No Objects Found".
Even Get-MailboxDatabase REturns blank output on Exchange 2007 SHell. Please help me with this and let me know in case if there is something that i need to be looking at!
any help on this is much appreciated.

    Hi,
I recommend you use the following cmdlet and check the result.
Get-MailboxDatabase -Server "Exchange 2007 server name"
In my environment, if I don't specify the Server parameter on Exchange 2010 Management Shell, Exchange 2007 mailbox database can't be displayed. If I specify the Server parameter, Exchange 2007 mailbox database will be displayed.
What's more, please check if the account you use has been delegated the Exchange View-Only Administrator role.
Here is a thread for your reference.

  • Server crash during access addressbook

    Hello,
the server crashed during an access to address book from from an iPhone or an iPad.
Can anyone help me please with diesem problem?`
    Joerg

Dies ist wahrscheinlich ein anderes problem.
Address book sees widespread use, so crashes are unlikely.
This is probably a disk error, or a memory error, processor error, or a data corruption in an existing system data file or program file, quite possibly related to networking or address book.
Run the hardware diagnostics. I might well try a reinstallation.
If this is a new system and still under original or AppleCare warranty, contact Apple support.

  • Exchange 2007 database won't mount due to MapiExceptionCallFailed errors

A server is running Exchange Server 2007 SP2 on Windows Server 2008 64-bit. After a couple years of running smoothly, the Windows Application event log started filling up with several instances every minute of the following error:
    MSExchangeIS (2644) First Storage Group: A bad page link (error -327) has been detected in a B-Tree (ObjectId: 5, PgnoRoot: 10) of database H:\Microsoft\Exchange Server\Mailbox\First Storage Group\Mailbox Database.edb (165296 => 3185, 817790).
Messages sent to a specific mailbox on the server started getting returned as undeliverable with the message:
#550 5.2.0 STOREDRV.Deliver: The Microsoft Exchange Information Store service reported an error. The following information should help identify the cause of this error: "MapiExceptionCallFailed..."
I assumed that the event log messages and the delivery errors were related so I ran "eseutil /d" on the database but it exited with the message, "Operation terminated with error -1605 (JET_errKeyDuplicate, Illegal duplicate key) after 76.578 seconds. Running
eseutil /mh reports the database state as clean shutdown.
The Exchange database had been backed up nightly using Windows Server 2008 Backup. I restored the latest backup of the .edb file. Unfortunately, the corruption behind the bad page link error seemingly had propagated through the backups because the restored
.edb file had the same issues.
I then attempted to create a new clean database with the goal of then transferring mailbox data from the old to the new as described in the article "Simplifying the Dial Tone Database Recovery Process in Exchange 2007" (http://blogs.technet.com/b/dhardin/archive/2009/08/25/simplifying-the-dial-tone-database-recovery-process-in-exchange-2007.aspx).
I successfully created the new storage group and database with empty instances of all mailboxes but attempts to mount the old database yield this message:
Error: Exchange is unable to mount the database that you specified. Specified database: FASTMAIL\NewStorageGroup\Mailbox Database; Error code: MapiExceptionCallFailed: Unable to mount database. (hr=0x80004005, ec=-344)
I then tried to return to the initial state of having a corrupted database but one that would at least function temporarily for all but the one broken mailbox. The idea would be to instruct individual users to run the Outlook archive command to back their
messages up locally into .pst files. Unfortunately, all attempts to mount the original .edb file yield the same MapiExceptionCallFailed error. I also tried to mount the database after deleting the transaction log files.
I searched the web for information on this error. There are some pages describing similar errors such as "hr=0x80004005, ec=2417" but I could not find any for "ec=-344". Some articles recommend running IsInteg.exe but this utility only works for databases
that are already mounted and I am unable to mount the database.
The Exchange server is running again using the empty database so that the users can at least send and receive mail. I get the sinking feeling that all hope is lost and the historical mail data that was stored on the server is gone for good. Before I face
the pitchforks of the angry mob, I figured that I would at least post an inquiry on an Exchange-related forum.
Are there any other steps I should take to try to recover the old data?

have you checked the health of the database using eseutil /mh "edbfilename.edb" ?
is the state: Clean Shutdown ?
If it is in clean shutdown state, then move the old logs, chk, .jrs files and select the option "This database can be overwritten by a restore" and mount the database.
In case if your database is not in clean shutdown state then you would need to work towards getting the database to clean shutdown using any of the following strategies based on the criteria that the database is affected with !
    1. soft recovery
    2. Hard Recovery
    3. Hard repair

  • Exchange 2010 database mailbox restore after restore server form disaster recovery

    Hello ,
after my exchange server failed  i am installed new server and recovered server
successfully, i have 4 database mailbox all this database dismount and users cannot
connect their mailbox , i have backup for all database(separate).
what should to do to restore database mailbox. so that users can connect their mailbox
    thanks

    Hi activenew
    Thank you for your question.
After we recover the exchange successfully by using “Setup /m:RecoverServer” cmdlet, the exchange server database is in the dismount status, then we will restore the exchange database by your backup tool. After we restore database, the database
is mount, then our client can connect exchange server and send/receive email .
We can refer to the follow link:
    http://exchangeserverpro.com/exchange-2010-mailbox-database-backup-restore-windows-server-backup/
We can also refer to recovering an exchange database:

  • Restore Exchange 2007 database backup on Exchange 2010 server

    Hi,
We have a requirement to restore mailbox from 2 years old when backup taken from Exchange 2007 server. Now we are on Exchange 2010 server where backup happens. So out of 2 years 1 year backup happen from Exchange 2007 & later happen from Exchange 2010
    server using Netbackup.
We have 2 Exchange 2010 mailbox server & 1 Exchange 2007 mailbox server. Mailbox to be restore currently exists on Exchange 2010 mailbox server & functional.
can someone guide me with exact steps or best practice for restoring mailbox. confused by reading over multiple posts.

    Hi ,
You cannot export data to a .pst file from a mailbox that is in a recovery storage group (RSG).
Mailboxes that are in a database that has been mounted in an RSG cannot be connected to Active Directory directory service accounts. These mailboxes have to be merged into existing mailboxes, or copied to a folder in an existing mailbox.

  • Exchange 2007 EXCDO 8206 error in Exchange 2007 SP2 with Rollup 4

    Dear sir,
We have a problem on Exchange 2007 Server. When user use OWA to access web mail calendar, server event log will show EXCDO error 8206:
Calendaring agent failed with error code 0x8000ffff while saving appointment
    Type: Error
    Event ID: 8207
    Category: General.
Moreover server becomes working in very slow web mail response during any user click web mail calendar.   Server performance return back after error message appeared  in event log.
It doesn't has problem if using Outlook to access mailbox calendar.
Any suggestion to fix it ?
    Joe

    Hi Joe,
We are also finding the same issue with getting that EXCDO error. The problem stemmed when users noticed some previously accepted appointments disappeared (As I suspect you discovered with your users).
The workaround has been to get the user to accept the appointment again by going into deleted items, this seems to add the appointment as it should have the first time.
We have done the following but it didn't fix the problem:
Disabled extra SEP features on the clients - No Change
    Disabled non-essential Outlook add-ons - No Change
Removed BES Express and CDO MAPI From Exchange server - No Change
Disabled MS Defender on Exchange - No Change
Fixed any Public folder errors - No Change
Disable Window services WSS and UNC sharing feature in Active Sync - No Change
Also ensured Autoupdate and auto process was enabled for affected users - No Change
I'm going to try the reg change mentioned in this thread but other than the built in MS Defender we don't have anti-virus on our mail server.
At first we thought it was Active Sync as it only seem to impact those with a A/S device, but now it's intermittent for other users using Outlook.  We are currently using Exchange 2007 SP3 with RU13. We are looking at trying an update
to RU14 but I am doubtful it will fix the problem. Did you have any luck finding a solution?
    Thank you in Advance.

  • Exchange 2007 mailbox creation error

    Hi,
We are having problems with our standard AD/Exchange adapter when creating users with a mailbox.
We currently have the following setup:
    - Sun IdM 8.1.0.7
    - There are 4 DC, and two Exchange 2007 Servers.
    - The gateway runs on a seperate Win2003 R2 32 bit server (but is a member of the AD).
The error we are getting is this:
PowerShell:41b59779-b9cb-487f-b200-4b9836dc176d is not a mailbox user.
It seems like the gateway has a preferred DC when creating accounts.
But when creating the Exchange account, the Exchange server has a different preferred DC,
where the AD account is not yet present. (there is an 5 minute replication interval)
We don't have a test enviroment with the same setup, which makes it a bit tricky to find the problem,
and testing possible solutions for it. Out test enviroment consists only of 1 DC, and 1 Exchange server so
the errors does not exist there.
Is there anyone who has seen something like this before, and in that case, is there a solution for it?
Or it's maybe better if a put it like this: Is there anyone who is running multiple DC:s and multiple Exchange Servers
without these problems? And in that case, are you creating the user and the mailbox at the same time?
I would gladly provide some more info and logs, if you specify what might be interesting to see.
    Thanks and kind regards,
    Henrik

    Some additional info:
Today the process goes like this:
First we create the user and does not set the RecipientType -> The user is created in AD (without Mailbox)
Second we set the following attributes when we want the user to get a Mailbox: (5 min delay)
    EmailAddressPolicyEnabled = false
    PrimarySmtpAddress = [email protected]
    RecipientType = MailboxUser
    Database = <our-db-here>
The user now gets his mailbox, but the email generated by Exchange is used when I look at the user.
And also the EmailAddressPolicy stays enabled.
Any ideas about the attributes I'm trying to set here?
    Regards,
    Henrik

  • Uninstalling Exchange 2007 - Folder Replicas Error

I'm trying to remove Exchange 2007 which I was testing using our development system but have come across some errors during the uninstall process.
The error message I receive is something like this: Error: Uninstall cannot continue. Database "Public Folder Database": The public folder database "SERVER\Second Storage Group\Public Folder Database" contains folder replicas...
Now unfortunately i'm a) no exchange expert (i'm a .NET dev) and b) we dont use exchange for email - so I cant move folders to an alternative location.
All I want to do is remove the software without bringing the network down again (I didn't realise removing a mailbox from exchange 07 removed the user account as well!).
    Thanks for your help,
    Matt

Run the Get-PublicFolderStatistics cmdlet using the Exchange Management Shell and examine the output.  If the folders listed are no longer required, you can remove them by piping the results of the Get-PublicFolderStatistics cmdlet into the Remove-PublicFolder
    cmdlet:
    Get-PublicFolderStatistics | Remove-PublicFolder
Once you've done this, re-run Get-PublicFolderStatistics and when no results are returned, you should find that this particular issue no longer prevents the uninstall of Exchange 2007.
I know this is an old post but I am at wits end....
This doesnt work for me, just get all of these errors

  • Recovering NSS pool after server crash

Server crashed the other day - a SLES 11 sp1 XEN host server system with 3 VMs, 2 OES servers (SLES 10 sp3) NSS pools/partitions and 1 pure SLES 11 server. After the crash (due either to power reset or raid controller failure) I had to run fsck to clear up multiple, multiple error conditions on the SLES partitions in order for the servers to reboot. Once booted up, edir and of course NSS would not load. eDir has been recovered and is now running but one of these servers (the one with most all of the data on NSS) is unstable and still has some boot problems. Would the following be a viable option at this point:
    1. Take this server out of the tree (if possible)
    2. Install fresh, new OES server in a logical drive
    3. Join the existing tree
    4. Attach the NSS partition to this server
    5. Bring up NSS
Any reason why this would not work to get to a stable server that can mount the existing NSS pool/partition? Thanks.
    Don

That will work, assuming the new server does not have a volume/pool by the same name already.

  • Exchange 2007 Export-Mailbox Error Message on only certain mailbox

I have searched high and low for a solution to this, but no such luck. Hopefully someone has had the same issue and can help me out.
I am attempting to export and then remove a date range for mailboxes before I migrate to an Exchange 07 server. The mailboxes range in the 10 GB range. I am attempting to use the Exchange 2007 cmdlet to do this with due to it does not have a 2 GB limit like the Exmerge of past.
The command I am using is as follows:
[PS] C:\>Export-Mailbox -Identity User -StartDate "01/01/07" -EndDate "01/30/08"
    -IncludeFolders "\Inbox","\Sent Items" -PSTFolderPath c:\PST\pst.pst
This command works fine on some of the mailboxes in the Exchange03 system. But on some of the mailboxes I am getting the following error.
Error occurred in the step: Moving messages. Failed to copy messages to t
he destination mailbox store with error:
MAPI or an unspecified service provider.
ID no: 00000000-0000-00000000, error code: -1056749164
    Any ideas?

    Hello Joe Rod (and others)
Thought I'd bring this over as a cross post because no-one seems to be picking it up in the 'admin' section. I believe I'm having a similar issue to yourself, as detailed below:
    Hi all,
I've already posted this same question elsewhere, but if anyone here can resolve the issue or suggest a better way (without using archiving software - yet!), I'd be most grateful. I'd even be happy if someone can replicate the problem so I know I'm not going mad... I'm trying to set up a quick & dirty quarter year pst mail archive for one of our users on our Exchange 2007 (SP1) box. Using the command:
    export-mailbox -id userA -pstfolderpath \\testpath\test.pst -enddate "01/03/2007"
I come up against this error:
Error occurred in the step: Moving messages. Failed to copy messages to the destination mailbox store with error: MAPI or an unspecified service provider. ID no: 00000000-0000-00000000, error code: -1056749164
Which I understand is a fairly standard permissions error. Problem is that I know the permissions are set correctly, having tested the function by removing the -enddate parameter; and getting a successful export.
I worked out after a while that the command seems to fall over when it hits a subfolder, so I tested this by using the -includefolders parameter. The command:
    export-mailbox -id userA -pstfolderpath \\testpath\test.pst -includefolders '\inbox' -enddate "01/03/2007"
will fail if there are any subfolders under '\inbox'. Add the names of the subfolders:
    export-mailbox -id userA -pstfolderpath \\testpath\test.pst -includefolders '\inbox\subfolder1' -enddate "01/03/2007"
and as long as those subfolders don't have any subfolders, I will get a successful export.
    Any help appreciated.
    Cheers
    Dan
If anyone is able to replicate this, please let me know, I'd love to get this sorted. If it is a known problem - can I use someone's PSS contact please?!

  • Exchange 2003 sp2 to exchange 2007 sp1 upgrade error

    Hi,
We had Windows 2003 DCs and Exchange 2003 servers. We migrated AD DCs to windows 2008 R2 at parent domain.
We have one parent domain and 10 child domains in remote sites .3 remote sites have been migrated to windows 2008 R2.
Now at parent domain I am trying to install exchange 2007 SP1 on a server with windows 2008 R2 SP1. I am facing certain issues:
    1. When I run setup /PrepareSchema on this new exchange server , the organization check fails with error stating that : cannot find at least one DC running windows 2003 SP1 or later in DC=xyx,DC=com. This could be the result of moving DC objects in AD. Check
that at least one DC running windows server 2003 SP1 or later is located in the "Domian Controllers" OU and rerun setup".
    2. When I try to install exchange server 2007 , I get the following error
Object cannot be saved because its ExchangeVersion property is 0.10 (14.0.100.0), which is not supported
by the current version 0.1 (8.0.535.0). You will need a later version of Exchange.".
Can any one shed light on this issue.
    Regards
    Syed
    sa

You cannot install Exchange 2007 SP1 on Windows 2008 R2 SP1 as it is unsupported.
Only version of Exchange 2007 supported when OS is Windows 2008 R2 or R2 SP1 is Exchange 2007 SP3.
Where are you installing Exchange ? child or parent domain ?
    2. When I try to install exchange server 2007 , I get the following error "Object
cannot be saved because its ExchangeVersion property is 0.10 (14.0.100.0), which is not supported by the current version 0.1 (8.0.535.0). You will need a later version of Exchange.".
Above error indicates that Exchange setup is trying to modify
a version of an object which might have been created when organization is prepared for Exchange 2010. don't you have exchange 2010 Servers already in your environment ?
Please give more information about your current email infrastructure
and whether if you are installing exchange on parent or child domain?

  • POA won't load after Server Crash - 8209 file not found err

Groupwise server crashed recently (apparently from bad RAID controller, which has been replaced). Server is back up an running now (SLES 10 sp3 VM running under XEN, GW 2012 sp1). Have performed a rebuild on Primary Domain and also on single Post Office. MTA loads OK, as does GWIA but POA fails to come up, giving "Path Not Found - 8209 error" message. Path to WPhost.db is correct both in C1 and in the startup file. When loading POA with --show option, I see the aforementioned error and then when I clear that I see on the screen (for a brief moment):
"Rebuilding Guardian Database because of C0221... please stand by"
Then it terminates and screen disappears.
I know that restoring from backup is one option, but that cannot be done until Monday at the earliest and that, of course, is dependent on having good backups. Therefore, I was wondering if there is a way to fix this problem to get the system back up quicker. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.
    Don
P.S. There is only 1 Primary domain and 1 PO in this small GW system and yes, I know, one should have at least 1 secondary domain.

    Thanks for the suggestion, Danita.
OK, I backed up all copies of ngwguard.* from the PO directory. Then, I deleted ngwguard.db and copied the ngwguard.fbk (same exact file size as the deleted ngwguard.db) from ofmsg/guardbak folder to the PO directory as ngwguard.db. Now, I did notice that there was no ngwguard.fbk in the PO directory but instead a ngwguard.dba file, which I left as is. I then started the POA - ./gwpoa --show @po.poa & and now it no longer gives me "Path Not Found" error, but instead it displays:
"opened a file that was not a flaim file C03F"
I click OK on this warning and then POA monitor screen displays for 2 seconds "rebuilding ngwguard.db ..." before it bails and terminates.
So, is it looking more and more like a ngwguard.db problem as opposed to wphost.db? And, I am of course curious why using that backup of ngwguard would not work. In any event, today I will be trying to get backups of wpdomain.db and wphost.db off of tape and perhaps I should restore ngwguard.db as well - this is dependent, of course, on having a good backup that is restorable. If that is not the case, is there an option to rebuild the ngwguard.db file? Thanks.

Quite possibly. You do need both a wphost.db and an ngwguard.db file for the
POA to properly load. There should be two relatively "new" copies in the
    system:
ngwguard.fbk in the same folder as the PO, and then the ngwguard.fbk in the
    ofmsg/guardbak folder.
Try copying one of these as ngwguard.db in the PO folder, and if that doesn't
work, you will need to go to "backup" to restore.

Googled page exactly describes my problem, and all anyone could say was to add this version number. It doesn't work. Pretty much none of the threads I've read have a resolution beyond this. I'm stumped, any help would be greatly appreciated.

What's the error message when executing  setup.com /prepareSchema fails? failed at Organization Checks?
Could you please check whether you are on the right schema version?
