Exchange 2007 size limits
Is there a Mailbox and DB size limit in Exchange 2007 ? If so what are they ?
PatBoySlim
Hi,
The default database size limit for Exchange 2007 Standard Edition is 50 gigabytes (GB).
There is no default database size limit for the Exchange 2007 Enterprise Edition.
Refer from
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb232092(EXCHG.80).aspx
By default, the mailbox Storage Quotas limit will follow the database Storage Quotas limit.

How to fetch size limits of users mailboxes in exchange 2007
Hi Team,
I've a list of users who scattered on different SGs of same server in exchange 2007. The Exchange Server is SCC cluster.
My query is to input the user list (.txt file) and find out the storage quota limits (IssueWarning, Prohibit Send and Prohibit send and recive) currently set on listed user mailboxes. The output shouold be in .txt or .csv file.
Please help me in writing the power shell command to fetch the required details
Thanking you
regards,
MiddaThis will read the names from the txt file and export the details to a csv file
Get-Content "C:\userlist.txt" | ForEach-Object {Get-Mailbox $_ | Select-Object DisplayName, IssueWarningQuota, ProhibitSendQuota, ProhibitSendReceiveQuota} | Export-Csv C:\Userquota.csv
But it will show unlimited if the user having database default quota. Below command will show you the database quota settings
Get-Mailboxdatabase | Select-Object Name, IssueWarningQuota, ProhibitSendQuota, ProhibitSendRe

Public Folder Migration from Exchange 2007 to 2013 fails RelinquishedWlmStall budget limitations
I have been trying to migrate approx 50 public folders from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013 for several months. I have followed every link I can find on how to do the migration properly. It will stay in a queued state for hours until the MRS is
restarted. It will then start copying messages. After reaching 28% I get RelinquishedWlmStall as Status Detail. Running the Get-PublicFolderMigrationRequestStatistics -IncludeReport | fl command I get the following: (truncated)

Basic on the error message, I notice that public folder migrate slow and display that “Relinquishing job because of large delays due to unfavorable server health or budget limitations” .
If I misunderstand your concern, please do not hesitate to let me know.
Since it is just slow and not failing, please do not stop the batch, it might connect to another server for sync.
Meanwhile, please refer to below link so that get details about Exchange Online migration performance and best practices:

What is the maximum size for mailbox per user (Exchange 2007)
Hello,
I'd like to know:
What is the maximum size per mailbox, and is it not recommended to exceed 3 GB and about the items how many is the maximum per folder (inbox, .. )
I've Exchange 2007 SP2, Outlook 2007 and 2010.
Thank you.Hi
There is no size limit on mailboxes up to the maximum size of your database. I normally recommend 2GB mailbox limits if you have some form of archiving in place. If you have no archiving in place then the limit should be set at the amount of
data people need to keep - it is not a good idea for people to store mail in PST files because there is a limit on their mailbox.
See this article for item count recommendations:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/905803
Also you need to upgrade your Exchange 2007 server to SP3 ... SP2 has been out of support for nearly 3 years already:

Good Day...
The output gives the information that Size limit set for Receive and Send is 100 mb, but setting could have changed. So you can follow the below steps to resolve the issue.
There are basically three places where you can configure default message size limits on Exchange:
Organization transport settings
Send/receive connector settings
User mailbox settings.
To check your server’s current limit you can open Exchange Management Shell
Try the below commands to check the Message quota size limit
get-transportconfig | ft maxsendsize, maxreceivesize
get-receiveconnector | ft name, maxmessagesize
get-sendconnector | ft name, maxmessagesize
get-mailbox Administrator |ft Name, Maxsendsize, maxreceivesize
To change the above size limits based on your requirement.
Set-TransportConfig -MaxSendSize 200MB -MaxReceiveSize 500MB (Size is based on your requirement)
Attachment size limit
To set up the rule you can use the below PowerShell cmdlet, as the method is quite simple
New-TransportRule -Name LargeAttach -AttachmentSizeOver 20MB -RejectMessageReasonText "Message attachment size over 20MB - email rejected."

Maximum Database size in exchange 2007
Hi Team,
What is the maximum database size we can have in Exchange server 2007 SP3 RU8 standalone server.
In our environment we have 1800 users hosted on the
exchange 2007 server with DB size(EDB file) of 1.61TB. What is the maximum size it can grow upto. Any response appreciated.
Thanks
SriniAmit just beat me to posting Harold Wong's article! :-) Since you're currently on 1.61TB the artificial limit has already been adjust via the registry setting mentioned (the article mentioned 50GB though I've seen others mention 250GB). So the maximum limit
is 16TB, but whoever adjusted things to allow your current size may have set the artificial limit as something smaller, so you'd want to check the registry to see what it has been set to in your case.
I'd also echo the comments about database size. Depending on how you handle backups then they may also play a part. Since most backups work on the basis of backing up / restoring the entire database (obviously backing up changes rather than the whole thing
each time), then the event of you needing to restore it's much easier if you have smaller databases to deal with. Splitting your mailboxes across multiple stores will help minimise the time required before you can get some users online again in the case of
a total failure. Also, if you split your mailboxes across 5 databases and then have a problem (for instance corruption) on one of them, then only around 1/5 of your users are effected rather than all of them. -
Maximum send size who controls exchange 2007
who wins ?
the global settings > transport setting is 20mb
but I also see Send connectors with a limit of 10mb
thanksHi,
David M is right. In this situation, the limit on send connector will take precedence.
Following are the basic categories for the scope of the limits available for individual messages:
Organizational limits
Global limits
Connector limits
Active Directory site links
Routing group connectors
Server limits
User limits
The path evaluated is as follows: User Send Limit > Receive Connector > Organization Checks > Send Connector > User Receive Limit
In general, the lowest size limit on an e-mail route determines if a message can be successfully transported from sender to the recipient.
One exception to this approach is the user limits. User level limits take precedence over other message size restrictions.

Veiwing mailbox sizes in exchange 2007
Is it me or is Exchange 2007 missing mailbox size? i cant anywhere to veiw the size of a users mailbox.
Sunil;
Never use a Format- cmdlet before sending data to Export-Csv
Use Select-Object instead.
PowerShell V1:
Get-MailboxStatistics -Database "Mailbox Database" |Select-Object DisplayName, LastLoggedOnUserAccount, ItemCount, @{expression={$_.totalitemsize.value.ToMB()};label=”Size(MB)”}, LastLogonTime, LastLogoffTime | Export-Csv MailboxSize.csv -NoTypeInformation
PowerShell V2:
$MailboxStatistics = @{
Database = "Mailbox Database"
$Select = @{
Property = "DisplayName","LastLoggedOnUserAccount","ItemCount",
@{expression={$_.totalitemsize.value.ToMB()};label=”Size(MB)”},
"LastLogonTime","LastLogoffTime"
$Csv = @{
Path = "MailboxSize.csv"
NoTypeInformation = $true

SBS2011 (Exchange 2010 SP2) - limiting cache size doesn't appear to work
Hi All,
Hoping for some clarification here, or extra input at least. I know there are other posts about this topic such as
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/smallbusinessserver/thread/5acb6e29-13b3-4e70-95d9-1a62fc9304ac but these have been
incorrectly marked as answer in my opinion.
To recap the issue. The Exchange 2010 store.exe process uses a lot of memory. So much in fact it has a negative performance impact on the server (sluggish access to the desktop etc). You can argue about this all day - it's by design
and shouldn't be messed with etc but the bottom line is that it does use too much memory and it does need tweaked. I know this because if you simply restart the Information Store process (or reboot the server) it frees up the memory and the performance
returns (until its cache is fully rebuilt that is). I have verified this on 4 different fresh builds of SBS2011 over the last 6 months. (all on servers with 16GB RAM)
I have scoured the internet for information on limiting how much memory exchange uses to cache the information store and most articles point back to the same two articles (http://eightwone.com/2011/04/06/limiting-exchange-2010-sp1-database-cache/
and
http://eightwone.com/2010/03/25/limiting-exchange-2010-database-cache) that deal with exchange 2010 and exchange 2010 SP1, notably not exchange 2010 SP2. Ergo most articles are out of date since exchange 2010 SP2 has been released since these articles
were posted.
When testing with our own in house SBS2011 server (with exchange 2010 SP2) I have found that specifying the min, max and cache sizes in ADSIEDIT has varying results that are not in line with the results documented in the articles I mentioned above.
I suspect the behaviour of these settings has changed with the release of exchange 2010 SP2 (as it did between the initial release and SP1).
Specifically here's what I have found using ADSIEDIT;
If you set the msExchESEParamCacheSize to a value - it doesn't have any effect.
If you set the msExchESEParamCacheSizeMax to a value - it doesn't have any effect.
If you set the msExchESEParamCacheSizeMin to a value - it always locks the store.exe process to using exactly this value.
I have also tested using combinations of these settings with the result that the size and max size values are always ignored (and the store.exe process uses the maximum available amount of memory - thus causing the performance degradation) but as soon as
you specify the min value it locks it to this value and it doesn't change.
As a temporary solution on our in-house SBS2011 I have set the min value to 4GB and it appears to be running fine (only 15 mailboxes though).
Anyone got some input on this ? thank you for your time.I concur with Erin. I'm seeing the same behaviour across all SBS2011 boxes, whether running SP1, SP2 or SP3.
If a minimum value is set, the store cache size barely rises above the minumum. I have one server with 32GB RAM. Store.exe was using 20GB of RAM, plus all the other Exchange services which total 4GB+. That left virtually no free RAM and trying to do
anything else on the server was sluggish at best.
All the advise is that setting a maximum alone has no effect and a minimum must be set too. But when set, the store cache size barely rises above the minimum. I have set a 4GB minimum and 16GB max, but 5 days later it's still using only slightly more than
4GB and there's 8GB free. Now the server as a whole is responsive, but doing anything with Exchange is sluggish.
Just saying leave Exchange to manage itself is not an answer. The clue is in the name - Small Business Server. It's not Exchange Only Server - there are other tasks an SBS must handle so leaving Exchange to run rampant is not an option. Besides, there are
allegedly means to manage the Exchange cache size - they just don't apparently work!
I'm guessing nobody has an answer to this so the only solution is to effectively fix the cache size to a sensible value by setting min and max to the same value.

Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2010 cross forest simultaneous mailbox move limits
Hi All,
I am testing the throughput of mailbox moves from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2010 cross forest. Single mailbox moves seem to be quite fast and I am not concerned about network, disk IO or server resource limitations, however I have not tested multiple simultaneous
mailbox moves to determine what the Exchange limitations are. If anyone could identify the limitations of the items below it would be much appreciated:
Limit of Exchange 2007 simultaneous mailbox moves per database
Limit of Exchange 2007 simultaneous mailbox moves per Mailbox server
Limit of Exchange 2007 simultaneous mailbox moves per CAS server
Limit of Exchange 2010 simultaneous mailbox moves per database
Limit of Exchange 2010 simultaneous mailbox moves per Mailbox server
Limit of Exchange 2010 simultaneous mailbox moves per CAS server
Any other Exchange 2007 or 2010 hard coded limits
Thanks in advance.
Michael. My usual answer to this question is that Microsoft set these limits for a reason. Increasing them may not offer you much in the way of benefits if you end up slamming the server. I generally recommend that you leave them alone.
I have had occasional opportunities to change these constraints, most notably back during a migration to Exchange 2003 and international mailbox moves (Asia to U.S.) where the limiting factor was network latency. I was able to increase the number of
concurrent threads to 16 from the default 2 and there was still available bandwidth because the process was limited by the latency.

Modify maximum received message size - Exchange 2007
i'm modifying my organization recive size limits, it was configured so that the maximum recive size to 10MB, and i need to increase it to 20 MB, so i did the below steps
1. changed exchange organization transport config to 20M, and it's currently as below
[PS] C:\Windows\system32>Get-TransportConfig | fl *size*
MaxDumpsterSizePerStorageGroup : 18MB
MaxReceiveSize : 20MB
MaxSendSize : 7MB
2. edited all receive connectors settings in all servers so that the maximum receive size is 20MB as below
Get-ReceiveConnector | Set-ReceiveConnector -MaxMessageSize 20MB
3. for user limits, it's all using the default configuration for maximum receive size of unlimited
[PS] C:\Windows\system32>Get-Mailbox -Identity XXXXXXXXXXX | ft name,*maxre*
Name MaxReceiveSize
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX unlimited
4. for adsite links, it's in the default configuration, and
MaxMessageSize : unlimited
for all AdSite links
but when i tried to send email from my gmail to my email account with attachment size around 13MB, i recived the below NDR
#550 5.2.3 RESOLVER.RST.SendSizeLimit; message too large for this sender ##
i checked the message size in the message traking log and found that the exchange server read it as 16MB size, (still under the maximum receive size) but its status was
fail routing due to message size
so i ask is there are any other settings that control the reciving message size, and how can i identify the source of restriction that prevents the server from accepting
the message
note: i restart the service
Microsoft Exchange Active Directory Topology Service and all its dependant services and replicates the active directory sitesYou have to make the maxsendsize and maxreceivesize match for anonymous messages to and from the internet, so the the maxsend to 20MB as well ( to be clear - its really the maxsendlimit that is being applied to unauthenticated senders, so set it to 20MB
and make the maxreceive match and that is set the largest message size in the org across the board)

Exchange 2010 co-existence with Exchange 2007 issue NDR size Four Times then we send
Hi All,
I am facing some strange issues of NDR size four times then we send like if I send 1 MB message to internal OR external recipient then we receive 4 MB NDR.
Even we send one black mail with subject Test mail of 4 kb then we receive 16 kb NDR is it due to architecture change or something else.
Everything was fine with Exchange 2007 but facing this issues after we change the mail flow to Ex2010.
Any help really appreciated

From your description, the NDR size is four times than original message size. I would like to verify the following thing for troubleshooting:
How many people has this issue, only one or all the people?
If only one user has this issue, I recommend you move the user's mailbox to another mailbox database and check the result.
If all the people have this issue, please enable Pipeline tracing and see if there is any hint. If the issue persists, please install the latest Service Pack and Rollup and check the result.
Here is an article for your reference.

When the users log into their mailboxes in OWA or Outlook get this warning: "You have exceeded your limit quota and can not send or receive mail" but really they have the mailbox empty, there's nothing in calendar, folders or deleted items.
I ran this command Get-MailboxStatistics and the mailbox reports for example 500 MB.
I deleted the deleted items and I configured deleted items retention to 0 days to ensure that it wasn't the problem, but the servers still reporting the same mailbox size (500 MB).
This happen to some mailboxes, not all
Please help, what can I do?1. How many Exchange 2007 servers do you have?
2. What service pack and rollups are installed on the Exchange 2007 server(s)?
3. If you have more than one server, are you using any form of replication: LCR, SCR, CCR... etc. ?
4. What 3rd party software is installed on the Exchange 2007 server(s)? For example, antivirus, archiving, etc.
5. Can you confirm that this happens in OWA as well? I see you mentioned OWA but I've just glanced at another problem with incorrect folder size being indicated in Outlook and it apparently had to do with the .OST file. Of course, if the problem occurs with
OWA as well, then the OST file would not come into play. Sorry to insist on that but I'm trying to rule some things out, if possible (like 3rd party apps, maybe something with replication, maybe a problem that was corrected in a service pack or rollup).
Please mark as helpful if you find my contribution useful or as an answer if it does answer your question. That will encourage me - and others - to take time out to help you. -
Exchange 2013 Mailbox Size Limits
Are there any hard limits on mailbox sizes in Exchange 2013 (either in terms of mailbox size or item count)?
Note: I am aware of the public folder mailbox size limits as well as the hard limit of 2TB for mailbox databases.I believe the max mailbox size is 100 GB

Major changes in Information Store
Managed Store
Newly rewritten Information Store processes, Microsoft.Exchange.Store.Service.exe and Microsoft.Exchange.Store.Worker.exe.
Each database runs under its own process, allowing for isolation of store issues to a single database.
Tightly integrated with MSExchangeRepl.exe to provide higher availability through improved resiliency.
Public Folder Database no longer exist.
Exchange 2013 it supports up to 100 GB of Mailbox size, with OL2013 OST file size can be controlled.
Exchange 2013 Enterprise Edition can only mount 50 databases on a mailbox server -
How to delete one oversized e-mail out of the sent mailbox form a user exchange 2007
Hi Guys,
In the eventlog I get every 5 min an error that an e-mail cannot be send due to size to big 26.635.611 bytes
In the mailbox of that user I can't find the e-mail in the sent mailbox. So I can't delete it.
The only thing I know about mail is the mail size. I'm working with SBS 2008 and Exchange 2007.
How can I delete the mail or stop that send proces.
Thanks for any solution
DanyHi,
Based on my understanding, you have set the organizational message size limits: MaxSendSize is 30MB. The organizational send and receive size limits apply to all Exchange servers in the Organization.
Did this issue affect all users or some of them? If there are some, I recommend you check if there is message size limit for this specific user mailbox.
About the Prohibit send quota, I also would like to see the mailbox size. If the mailbox size reaches or exceeds the specified limit, new messages can't be sent from the mailbox, and the user receives a descriptive error message. For more details about this,
you can refer to the following article.
