Exchange 2007 SMTP troubleshooting

have problems to sending mails to one specific domain in china, exchange generates NDR with:
#550 4.4.7 QUEUE.Expired; message expired ##
Investigate a bit and discover the MX record for this domain was not found (nslookup timeout). Our ISP reply so this domain appears on their blacklist and fix it (verified, nslookup now find this record). This happens abou 10 day a go, but mails still expiring.
Trying to "telnet domain 25" from machine with exchange which work fine, that seem is prrof the problem is somewhere inside exchange SMTP part. Also trying to dump packets for given MX records address, and than send another mail for this domain,
but no packets appears in Wireshark, so look like exchange did not even tried to send this message. I am also enable send connector logging, but nothing related to my mail appears. Tried to perform "ipconfig /flushdns" on given machine,
but not help.
Have no any problems with mails for other domains, everything rest traffic works fine. Anybody have idea?
L.

Do you manage your own DNS? Have you tried clearing the cache on your DNS servers and the local resolver cache on the Exchange server(s) (I see you did the local resolver cache)? It wouldn't be the first time I've seen a bad query result stay in the cache
on a DNS server. Stopping and starting the transport service wouldn't hurt, either.

  • Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2010 Cross Forest

    Hi
We have a scenario where we have an Exchange 2007 organization (Org A - Source) and a separate Exchange 2010 organization (Org B - Target). Both the organizations (AD Forests) have two way trusts between them.
We want to have our Exchange 2007 users have their mailboxes hosted on Exchange 2010 organization. Meaning that the user (AD) accounts of Org A will remain in Forest A but there mailboxes will be available on Exchange 2010 servers in Org B. So we don’t need
a user / group migration stuff here and mailbox data on Exchange 2007 servers is also not critical (not required to be migrated) so we will be creating new disabled accounts and mailboxes in Org B for each user in Org A and connect the mailboxes. There will
be a brief period of co-existence between two Orgs (to enable mail-flow) until all the users have their mailboxes active in Org B. Need to figure out a way to achieve this.
We are planning to follow the steps below:
Setup name resolution between the forests (although basic connectivity is there and we can ping servers in one forest using IP Addresses from other forest) –
Please suggest if this is necessary or we can get away with it?
Setup SMTP namespace sharing for Exchange 2007 SMTP Domain name
Add Exchange 2007 SMTP domain as authoritative domain to E2K10
Create EAP for new SMTP Domain
SMTP Connector Creation for Direct E-mail Routing (Co-exist) Between Forests
Create disabled Mail Enabled (not Mailbox Enabled) User or Mail Enabled Contact in Org B.
Can we use Prepare-MoveRequest.ps1 script to create these?
Once a mail enabled user / contact is created in Org B for all the users, change incoming traffic from Internet for Org A SMTP domain to hit HT server in Org B
Make changes to Exchange 2010 certificate and install new certificate
Select a batch of users every day, create new mailbox for them using scripts in Org B and delete the corresponding contact in Org B
Can someone please confirm if this is correct and point out something I am missing?
Is there any other way to achieve the same goal?
    Thanks

    Hi Everyone
Thanks for the inputs so far. I need to confirm some steps to establish direct email flow unless all the mailboxes are created in target organization, can somebody have a look at the steps below and confirm if they are correct or add something that
    I missed here:
    Setup source Exchange organization:
    a) Add unique SMTP domain for source organization, like @source.local. This domain will be added to all mail enabled objects in this organization and will be used for internal routing only
         i) Add to Accepted Domains list
ii) Create EAP to add domain to existing objects
    b) Use manual means to stamp SMTP domain to objects in source organization on objects that don’t have EmailAddressPolicyEnabled set to False
    c) Create Send Connector to target forest. The target domain should also have a unique e-mail address, like @target.company.com (in our case 19 SMTP domains including JUBL.COM)
         i) Include the valid SMTP domains and the unique one for internal routing
             (source.local)
ii) Point to a smart host in the target forest
    d) Set existing SMTP domain (JubilantRetail.com) as “Internal Relay Domain”. The target Exchange org will be authoritative for this domain
    Setup target Exchange organization
    a) Create Send Connector to unique SMTP domain in source forest. Includes shared name space (source.local) and @JubilantRetail.com
    b) Set Default receiver connector, being used by source forest, to allow anonymous connections
    c) Add shared SMTP domain (source.local) to Accepted Domains list as authoritative
    d) Create EAPs to replicate the SMTP domains (e:g JubilantRetail.com and source.local) in the source environment
    Thanks

  • Troubleshooting and Introduction for Exchange 2007/2010 AutoDiscover - Details about "Test E-mail AutoConfiguration"

AutoDiscover is a new feature in Exchange 2007, to provide access to Microsoft Exchange features (OAB, Availability service, UM) for Outlook 2007
    clients or later.
We can determine whether problems related to AutoDiscover via OWA.
    For example:
OOF is not working in Outlook Client but it is working in OWA.
When we realized this issue is not related to Outlook Client side and network side after performing some troubleshooting steps, it should be something
    abnormal on AutoDiscover.
There is a common tool to check AutoDiscover in Outlook, Test E-mail AutoConfiguration.
Today, we will introduce AutoDisocver and “Test E-mail AutoConfiguration” in details. Hope it is helpful for AutoDiscover troubleshooting and self-learning.
    1. Differences between “Test E-mail AutoConfiguration” and other tools
The “Test-OutlookWebServices” cmdlet allows us to test the functionality of the following services:
    Autodisocver
    Exchange Web Services
    Availability Service
    Offline Address Book
When we run “Test-OutlookWebServices”, it returns all the web services’ states.
However, some information are useless for some scenarios.
    For example:
We just want our Exchange 2010 Server working internally. So it is unnecessary to enable Outlook Anywhere.
However, when we run “Test-OutlookWebServices”, it returns Outlook Anywhere errors because the Outlook Anywhere does not need to been enabled.
In contrast, using “Test E-mail Autodiscover” is more intuitive.
If there is any problems, it will return error code from the test result, like 0x8004010F etc. We can do some research from TechNet articles or MS
    KBs.
Although it is difficult to say where the specific problem is just via the error codes, we can combine with IIS logs to perform troubleshooting and
    find the root of problem.
    2. How to use “Test E-mail AutoConfiguration” Tool
    a. Open Outlook, we can find there is an Outlook Icon at the right bottom of System tray. Holding down “Ctrl” button and right click the Outlook Icon, we will see “Test E-mail
AutoConfiguration” option. Please see Figure 01.
    Figure 01
    b. Click “Test E-mail AutoCofiguration” and input user name, uncheck the “Use Guessmart” and “Secure Guessmart Authentication” checkboxes, then click “Test”. Please see
    Figure 02.
    Figure 02
    c. “Test E-mail AutoConfiguration” result panel and log panel. Please see Figure 03 and Figure 04.
    Figure 03
    Figure 04
    3. How to understand “Test E-mail AutoConfiguration” result
According to the Figure 03, we found there are many URLs in the “Test E-mail AutoConfiguration” result panel. Let us understand the details of these
    URLs.
If we these URLs are not the correct ones, we can re-setting or re-creating them via commands.
    - Internal OWA URL:
    https://vamwan310.vamwan.com/owa/
    OWA internal access.
    - External OWA URL:
    https://mail.vamwan.com/owa/
    OWA external access.
    - Availability service URL:
    https://vamwan310.vamwan.com/EWS/Exchange.asmx
    Free/Busy, OOF and meeting suggestions.
    - OOF URL:
    https://vamwan310.vamwan.com/EWS/Exchange.asmx
    Out of Office access.
    - OAB URL:
    https://vamwan310.vamwan.com/OAB/023ef307-b18a-4911-a52c-de26700f6173/
    OAB access.
    - Exchange Control Panel URL:
    https://vamwan310.vamwan.com/ecp/
    ECP access.
    4. AutoDiscover Tips
    - AutoDiscover Service itself is a web application running on the AutoDiscover virtual directory (not a server service) designed to provide connection information to various
    clients.
    - The AutoDiscover service is automatically installed and configured when CAS role is added to any Exchange Server.
    - AutoDisocver virtual directory is created in IIS within the Default Web Site.
    - A Sercive-Connection-Point (SCP) object is created in AD.
    - The SCP contains a URL to the AutoDiscover service. This is for intranet clients so they do not have to use DNS to locate the AutoDiscover service.
    - In AD this object is located at the following location:
    DC=<domain>, CN=Configuration, CN=Services, CN=Microsoft Exchange, CN=First Organization, CN=Administrative Groups, CN=Exchange Administrative
    Group, CN=Servers, CN=<CAS Name>, CN=Protocols, CN=AutoDiscover, CN=<CAS Name>
    - Setup creates the AutoDiscover URL based on the following structure:
    <CASNetbiosName>.domain.com/AutoDiscover/AutoDiscover.xml
If a PKI certificate is not already present, a self-signed certificate is installed on the Default Web Site.
To help allow this certificate pass the Issues to test it is set up with a Subject Alternative Name containing urls.
If a PKI certificate is present, that certificate is utilized and configured for use in IIS.
The Outlook Provider is used to configure separate settings for the Exchange PRC protocol (internal to network), Outlook Anywhere (Exchange HTTP protocol), and WEB:
    EXCH, EXPR, WEB
    The
EXCH and EXPR setting are vital for the proper configuration of Outlook.
    5. AutoDiscover Workflow
    General Process flow:
There are various components surrounding the AutoDiscover Service and all are necessary to complete a request. Including IIS, AutoDiscover service
    itself, the provider, and AD.
    a.
Client constructs service URL and submits Autodiscover Request. First attempt to locate the SCP object in AD. So, DNS is not needed.
    b.
    IIS Authenticates User.
    c.
Is the Autodiscover service in the appropriate forest?
    + If YES.
        1)
    Parse/Validate Request
        2)
Is there a provider that can service the Request?
    ++ If YES
          a)
Config provider processes request and returns config settings.
          b)
    Return config setting to client
    ++ If NO
Inform client we cannot process request
    + If NO.
Redirect client to Autodiscover service in the appropriate forest.
Methods to find Autodiscover services: SCP and DNS
    Domain-joined
    a. Find SCP first.
The SCP contains the URL to the AutoDiscover service.
    URL: https://CAS01.contoso.com(CAS’ FQDN)/AutoDiscover/AutoDiscover.xml
If more than one SCP object is found in AD (it means there are multiple CAS servers in the Exchange organization), Outlook client will choose one of the SCP entries that
are in the same site to obtain the AutoDisocover URL.
    b. If we cannot find SCP object, then Outlook client will use DNS to locate AutoDiscover.
Outlook parses out the domain (SMTP suffix) via your EmaiAddress, then attempts to connect to the predetermined order of URLs via the suffix.
For example: If my email address is
    [email protected]
Outlook tries POST commands to the following order of URLs:
    https://contoso.com/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml
    https://autodiscover.contoso.com/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml
NOTE: The URLs above is by design, hardcode
    and cannot be changed.
    c.
If those fail, Outlook tries a simple redirect to another URLs in IIS:
    http://contoso.com/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml
    http://autodiscover.contoso.com/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml
If none of these URLs work then DNS is most likely not set up correctly.
We can test that by pinging one of the above URLs.
If that is successful, we must ensure the URLs contoso.com or autodiscover.contoso.com are actually pointing to the CAS server.
If the ping fails then there is a chance that DNS is not set up correctly so be sure to check that the URLs are even registered.
    NOTE: If contoso.com is a non-CAS server,
we should add a Host record with just AutoDiscover. And point that entry to your CAS server that is running AutoDiscover.
    d.
If still failed, we can use DNS SRV lookup for _autodiscover._tcp.contoso.com, then “CAS01.contoso.com” returned. Outlook will ask permission from the user to continue
with AutoDiscover to post to https://CAS01.contoso.com/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml
    Non-Domain-joined
It first tries to locate the Autodiscover service by looking up the SCP object in AD. However the client is unable to contact AD, it tries to locate
the Autodiscover service by using DNS.
Then, same as step b, c, d in
    Domain-joined scenario.
    6. How to change the AutoDiscover
    service location order forcibly?
By default, Outlook client locates AutoDiscover service in that order above.
We can also change the order forcibly.
    a.
If we want to locate AutoDiscover service via one of the autodiscover URLs, please running following command in EMS:
    Set-ClientAccessServer -identity <servername> -AutodiscoverServiceInternalUri https://autodiscover.contoso.com/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml(URL
    that you want)
    b. If we want to locate AutoDiscover service via
SRV record, please follows this KB to set up SRV:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/940881
    7. How to check AutoDiscover Healthy
    a. We should make sure the AutoDiscover
is healthy before using AutoDiscover to perform troubleshooting.
    b.
We can browse following URL in IE explorer:
    https://autodiscover.vamwan.com/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml
If it returns “code 600”, that means AutoDiscover is healthy.
    Screenshot as below:
    c. AutoDiscover itself returns errors to the requesting client if the incoming request does not contain the appropriate information to complete a
    request.
The following table explains the possible errors that could be returned.
    Error   Value
    Description
    600
Mailbox not found and a   referral could not be generated.
    601
Address supplied is not   a mailbox. The provided email address is not something a client can connect to.   It could
be a group or public folder.
    602
    Active Directory error.
    603
    Others.
The 600 “Invalid Request” error is returned because a user name was not passed to the service. That is OK for this test because this does confirm
the service is running and accepting requests.
    d.
If AutoDiscover service is not working well, I suggest re-building the AutoDiscover Virtual Directory for testing.
    Steps as below:
    1) Running following command in EMS to remove the AutoDiscover VD (we cannot delete it via EMC):
    Remove-AutodiscoverVirtualDirectory -Identity "CAS01\autodiscover(autodiscover.contoso.com)"
    Please refer:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb124113(v=exchg.141).aspx
    2)
Running following command in EMS to verify whether we have removed the AutoDisocver VD successfully:
    Get-AutodiscoverVirtualDirectory | FL
    Please refer:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa996819(v=exchg.141).aspx
    3)
Running following command in EMS to re-creating a new AutoDiscover VD:
    New-AutodiscoverVirtualDirectory -Websitename <websitename> -BasicAuthentication:$true -WindowsAuthentication:$true
    Please refer:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa996418(v=exchg.141).aspx
    8. Common issues
    a. Outlook Disconnection
    Issue and Troubleshooting
    Issue:
Sometimes the Outlook clients cannot connect to the Exchange server after migrating to a new Exchange server or changing to new CAS. The Outlook clients
always connect to the old CAS server.
    Troubleshooting:
To solve this issue, we should change the SCP via following command:
    Set-ClientAccessServer -Identity
    <var>CAS_Server_Name</var> -AutodiscoverServiceInternalUri
    https://mail.contoso.com(newCAS’FQDN)/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml
    b. Autodiscover
    Certificate issue
    Tips on Certificate:
Exchange requires a certificate to run an SSL protocol such as HTTPS. We can use the certificate that supports subject alternate names (SAN) in Exchange.
This is to allow the certificate to support resources that have different names, such as Outlook Anywhere and the Autodisocver Web application.
    Issue and Troubleshooting
    Issue:
We receiver the Certificate Principal Mismatch error when we use a SAN certificate.
    Troubleshooting:
    1) Please determine the FQDN that the client
uses to access the resource. Steps as below:
    OutlookàToolsàAccount
    SettingsàE-mailàclick
    the Exchange accountàChangeàMore
    SettingsàConnectionàExchange
Proxy Settingsànote the FQND that list in the
Only connect to proxy servers that have this principal name in their certificate box.
    2)
Please using EMS to determine the value for the CerPrincipalName attribute: Get-OutlookProvider
This command returns the result for the EXPR name.
    3)
Please re-setting the CertPrincipalName attribute to match the FQDN via following command:
Set-OutlookProvider EXPR –CertPrincipalName: “msstd:<FQDN the certificate is issued to>”

  • Exchange 2007 - unable to connect to smtp after severall hours

    Hi,
We have a Windows SBS 2008 server with Exchange 2007 SP3. After severall hours we are unable to connect to the server with telnet on port 25 from outside. Sometimes a local telnet on the server still works but not always.
The only solution is to restart the server. The transport service can not be stopped.
Even after a fresh reboot the telnet session does not alway show the smtp banner.

    Hi Joost,
Is there any related error message left on Exchange server?
I have found a similar thread for your reference:
    https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/5e2b3320-7c97-4b33-bd8e-e27768f51ec0/hub-transport-service-wont-start-and-keep-running-sbs-2008-exchange-2007
More detailed error message without sensitive informaiton is helpful for the further troubleshooting.
Also, SBS 2008 is different from Exchange 2007 on Windows Server, I suggest ask SBS Forum to double confirm this issue.
    Thanks

  • IIS SMTP instead of Exchange 2007 on SBS 2008

We have recently moved a client from Exchange 2007 on a 2008 Small Business Server over to Office 365. We would like to disable Exchange 2007 altogether in order to free up resources on an already overworked server. However, we have a couple of multifunction
devices that require an unauthenticated SMTP relay for email. I believe the easiest solution available to us is to enable SMTP in IIS and limit the relay to certain internal IPs. Assuming Exchange is fully disabled, would this be a viable solution? Given that
we are still running IIS internally, I would see this as a net gain in terms of system resources.

    It is not possible.

  • Exchange 2007 CAS Unable To Display 2013 Mailbox Free/Busy to Clients

    Hi,
I'm in the process of migrating to Exchange 2013 from an Exchange 2007 backend.  I have 2 2007 CAS servers in a Windows NLB named webmail.domain.com, and I'm having a problem with only a single one of those CAS servers being able to display the free/busy
information of a mailbox residing on a 2013 mailbox server.  The other CAS works fine.
Both CAS servers are Exchange 2007 SP3.  Both CAS servers have their virtual directories named webmail.domain.com/{vitual direction url}.  I built both servers from the ground up and configured them at the same exact time performing the same steps
on each.  My 2013 CAS servers are in a Windows NLB for mail.domain.com, and they have all their virtual directories named for mail.domain.com.  These are separate entries in DNS.  Other autodiscover services are working fine.  I have most
traffic flowing Exchange 2013 now as well.
I've done compares on the virtual directories for each 2007 CAS, and they appear to be the same.  If I bypass the NLB and just go directly to the casname01/owa, I see free/busy no problem.  If I go to casname02/owa, then free/busy doesn't work
ONLY for 2013 mailboxes.  It will display 2007 mailbox free/busy fine.  To complicate matters, I still have a 2010 CAS in the environment from a failed O365 pilot.
Where can I look to begin to troubleshoot this?  Thanks.

In the App log on the 2007 CAS, I'm seeing an Event ID 4002 from MSExchange Availability (below).  This made me check my 2013 CAS NLB.  It looks like it is one of the 2013 CAS servers in the mail.domain.com NLB that is causing this behavior.  I
    could still use guidance.  Thanks.

  • Help With Migration From Exchange 2007 To Exchange 2013

We have an Exchange 2007 Server with Service Pack 3 and Rollup 12 applied.
I installed a new Exchange 2013 Server and then immediately applied CU3.
I am following this Technet article:
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/meamcs/archive/2013/07/25/part-1-step-by-step-exchange-2007-to-2013-migration.aspx
The only deviation from the instruction I have had to do is in Part 2, section 4 “Configure offline address book (OAB)”.
    Instead of entering:
    Get-MailboxDatabase | Set-MailboxDatabase -OfflineAddressBook "\Default Offline Address Book (Ex2013)"
    I had to enter:
    Get-MailboxDatabase | Set-MailboxDatabase -OfflineAddressBook "\Default Offline Address Book (Ex2012)"
I believe this is due to the fact that the writer installed from an Exchange 2013 CU1 disk and I only had Exchange 2013.
Also when I tried to run:
Move-OfflineAddressBook -Identity "Default Offline Address Book" -Server SRV-EX2013
    I get the following error:
Move-OfflineAddressBook : Failed to create the 'ExchangeOAB' folder on the target server 'SRV-EX2013'. Two possible reasons for the failure are that the System Attendant Service is not running or you do not have permission to perform
    this operation. Error message : 'Catastrophic failure (Exception from RESULT: 0x8000FFFF (E_UNEXPECTED))'.At line:1 char:24+ Move-OfflineAddressBook <<<<

: InvalidResult: (Default Offline Address Book:OfflineAddressBookIdParameter) [Move-OfflineAddressBook], LocalizedException
    + FullyQualifiedErrorId : 9250969C,Microsoft.Exchange.Management.SystemConfigurationTasks.MoveOfflineAddressBook
However when I looked at the address books in EAC I could see that “Default Offline Address Book (Ex2012)” was the default and that it contained a copy of the Global Address List. So I did nothing else about it.
I am now at Part 3, section 7 “Move Mailboxes” and it keeps failing.
I am using the EAC so that I at least see the error as using the powershell brings back no results.
Anyway it Syncs the 18 items in the mailbox then fails with:

    Help??
    Tony

    Hi,
You can't configure Exchange 2013 to generate other OAB versions, and the OAB generation occurs on the Mailbox server on which the organization mailbox resides. Therefore, to move OAB generation in Exchange 2013, you must move the organization mailbox. You
can only move the OAB generation to another Exchange 2013 mailbox database. You can’t move OAB generation to a previous version of Exchange.
And please refer to the following articles :
    Moving OABs between Exchange versions
If you want to upgrade from exchange 2007 to exchange 2013,I recommend you refer to the following article:
Upgrade from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013
    Exchange   version
    Exchange   organization coexistence
    Exchange 2007
Supported with the following   versions of Exchange:
Update Rollup 10 for Exchange        2007 Service Pack 3 (SP3) on all Exchange 2007 servers in the
    organization, including Edge Transport servers.
Exchange 2013 Cumulative        Update 2 (CU2) or later on all Exchange 2013 servers in the
    organization.
Install Exchange 2013 in an Existing Exchange 2007 Organization
You can install a Microsoft Exchange Server 2013 server into an existing Exchange Server 2007 organization, and then move the Exchange resources, such as mailboxes, public folders, and connectors, to Exchange 2013. However, you can't perform an in-place
upgrade from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013.
    Hope this helps!
    Thanks.

  • Migration from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013

We are migrating from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013. We have a new Exchange 2013 server will all of the roles installed, but none of the mailboxes have even been moved yet. We are seeing some of our users getting prompted to accept the self signed certificate
on the exchange 2013 server. Exchange 2007 server is still handling all of the mail flow and connectors. Any reason why some of our users would be prompted with the certificate for the exchange 2013 server even though their mailbox is still on exchange 2007.
Our users are on outlook 2010.

  • Issue moving remote user from exchange 2007 to 2013

have moved over 60 people so far from exchange 2007 to 2013, it was going well with no major problems.
during migration I have created a DNS setting called legacy.mydomain.com, and it points to the old exchange server, while mail.mydomain.com points to the new exchange server.
outlook was working connecting to both servers, and OWA was working on both servers.
couple of remote users who connect via SSL-VPN and outlook 2010 had issues connecting, but as soon as I moved them to 2013 exchange they connected without vpn using outlook anywhere.
but - I have one remote user who even though the mailbox move to the new 2013 server was successful, their outlook still points to the 2007 exchange server.
if I try creating a new profile in outlook 2013, it fails because it cannot contact exchange server, even when ssl-vpn is running.
when I started troubleshooting I found lots of spyware on his laptop, symantec had been blocking some trojans, obviously he had downloaded something he shouldnt have.
could this have caused my outlook connectivity issue?
I ran malawarebytes, and it shows clean now, but still unable to get his outlook to connect.
I had thought about moving his mailbox back to the old server, seeing if it works on outlook, then moving it to the new one again.
    any suggestions?

I had thought about moving his mailbox back to the old server, seeing if it works on outlook, then moving it to the new one again.
    Hi,
Have you done this step? Sometimes moving mailbox to another database can auto-fix problems.
According to your description, I know that all migrated mailboxes work well except a specific user. I notice that the user's laptop has a lots of spyware, and symantec has been clocking some trojans.
Please try to logon OWA to check whether this user works.
If works in OWA, it seems that the mailbox has been migrated to 2013 successfully.
Generally, re-creating profile can fix this issue. Unfortunately, you have tried it and failed.
Please try to run Outlook under safe mode to avoid AVs and add-ins.
    Thanks

  • Public Folder Migration from Exchange 2007 to 2013 fails RelinquishedWlmStall budget limitations

I have been trying to migrate approx 50 public folders from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013 for several months.  I have followed every link I can find on how to do the migration properly.  It will stay in a queued state for hours until the MRS is

    Hi,
Basic on the error message, I notice that public folder migrate slow and display that “Relinquishing job because of large delays due to unfavorable server health or budget limitations” .
If I misunderstand your concern, please do not hesitate to let me know.
Since it is just slow and not failing, please do not stop the batch, it might connect to another server for sync.
Meanwhile, please refer to below link so that get details about Exchange Online migration performance and best practices:

  • Exchange 2007 account won't go online

    Hi,
I am running OS X 10.6.4 on my MacBook, with the latest versions of everything available through Software Update.
I am unable to get iCal to work with my Exchange 2007 account. I can add the account through preferences, but it never shows up in the left-hand pane where all the other calendars go. I don't run into this problem with my other Google calendar, so it seems to be specific to the Exchange calendar. Curiously, there is no error message from iCal, which acts as if the calendar is there but does not put it online. In the "Online Status" my Exchange Calendar is listed, but if I select to bring the account online nothing happens.
As it happens I've been trying to get iCal to work since upgrading to Snow Leopard last October. Previously I had a different problem, in which the Exchange Calendar would show up in the left-hand pane but would ask for a "valid email address" for the account. It seemed at the time that the problem was that my address is not published in the GAL, but this is something I have no control over personally, and the system admin won't publish it for me. I found it curious that iCal requires this, but Mail and AddressBook presumably do not, as they set up instantly when I upgraded to Snow Leopard and have both worked flawlessly ever since.
I haven't come across anyone with a similar problem when Googling the problem, so this is probably a long shot, but does anyone have some advice on what might help here or how I can go about troubleshooting this problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Cheers,
    nanoo

I had the exact same issue. Found nothing in the console logs other than "can't refresh account". Turns out my problem was wrong e-mail address with the exchange server. I used the exact e-mail address that this particular exchange expected and it added it to the panel on the left.
Our setup is a bit weird cause we have 2 exchange servers, but I let iCal figure out everything itself using the "old" exchange server and then afterwards went and edited the server settings to use the "new" server, and it kept working with these settings.
Just a bit annoying that iCal was so vague about what the problem was... Also didn't help that I upgraded and moved to the "new" server and changed my password all at once, so don't know what cause the problem in the first place.

Appreciate if someone can help us move forward in this scenario.
    We have
    1. disabled anti virus and tried.
    2. removed watermarks and action entries in the registry
    3. tried almost everything mentioned on google but i am not able to move forward.
Please help. we need this as part of our migration to Exchange 2013 for co-existence.
    Thank you.

  • HTTP 500 error when opening a legacy shared mailbox in OWA 2013 (Exchange 2007/2013 coexistence environment)

    Hi,
Our Exchange 2013/2007 coexistence environment is set up and all is working apart from this:
Mailbox A has full permissions to Mailbox B. Mailbox A is migrated to Exchange 2013, but Mailbox B remains on Exchange 2007. If I login to Outlook Web App 2013 as Mailbox A and then "Open another mailbox..." and select Mailbox B, a new window opens
up saying "HTTP 500 Internal Server Error". The URL it is trying is :
    https://webmail.ourdomain.com/owa/[email protected]/?offline=disabled
( I can open Mailbox A in Outlook 2010 and do "Open Other users's folder.." and Mailbox B opens up just fine. )
Our legacy CAS server's External and Internal URLs are set to :
    https://legacy.ourdomain.com/owa
and the Exchange 2013 CAS server's External and Internal URLs are set to :
    https://webmail.ourdomain.com/owa
We have FBA enabled on both the E2K7 and E2K13 OWA

    Thanks

    Hi Ansev,
    Thank you for your question.
By my testing, user who was migrated to Exchange 2013 cannot access mailbox on Exchange 2007 with 500 error, although user account have “Full Access Permission” to mailbox on Exchange 2007.
I suggest we migrate account which has “Full Access Permission” for other user  to Exchange 2013.
If there are any questions regarding this issue, please be free to let me know.

    Jim

  • Error during Exchange 2007 mailbox provisioning with IDM 8.1.1.1

    Hi
We want to create Exchange 2007 mailboxes from IDM.
When we let Exchange set the SMTP address (EmailAddressPolicyEnabled=true), it works fine
But when we set the SMTP address in IDM with the attribute PrimarySmtpAddress (and EmailAddressPolicyEnabled=false) there are an error and an information in the provisioning task
Error : PowerShell:6c13f14c-3825-4064-a585-48b4756de3a3 is not a mailbox user
Information : Added exchange mailbox to the user based on the RecipientType change from: 'User' to: 'UserMailbox'
We see that the mailbox has the SMTP address set by Exchange.
After 5mn, the task ends successfully and we see that the SMTP address is the one set by the IDM attribute PrimarySmtpAddress.
We guess that this error is caused by the active directory replication delay between controllers.
Does anybody know how to solve this problem ?
    Thank you

    Hi Patrick
    Thank you for your answer.
The cmdlet enable-mailbox can be used with the PrimarySmtpAddress option and, in this case, the EmailAddressPolicyEnabled option is automatically set to false.
Cf. the MS technet help : "The PrimarySmtpAddress parameter specifies the primary SMTP address for the mailbox. By default, the primary SMTP address is generated based on the default e-mail address policy. If you specify a primary SMTP address by using this parameter, the command sets the EmailAddressPolicyEnabled attribute of the mailbox to $false, and the e-mail addresses of this mailbox aren't automatically updated based on e-mail address policies."
I have tested this option on our Exchange 2007 environment and it works fine.
In IDM if PrimarySmtpAddress is used but not EmailAddressPolicyEnabled, there is an error : "PowerShell:The e-mail addresses for this recipient are automatically generated based on e-mail address policies. To modify the primary SMTP address for this recipient, you must disable automatic updating of e-mail addresses based on e-mail address policy”
If PrimarySmtpAddress is used and EmailAddressPolicyEnabled is set to false, then the log shows that 2 powershell commands are run by the gateway, the second immediately after the first.
Enable-Mailbox with the parameters -Identity and -Database, run with no error
Set-Mailbox with the parameters -Identity, -EmailAddressPolicyEnabled (set to FALSE) and -PrimarySmtpAddress, run with the error “…is not a mailbox user.”
After 5 mn (the retry delay) another powershell command is run :
Set-Mailbox with the parameters -Identity, -EmailAddressPolicyEnabled (set to FALSE) and -PrimarySmtpAddress, run with no error.
The solution would be that IDM, when PrimarySmtpAddress is set, runs only the command Enable-Mailbox with the parameters PrimarySmtpAddress, which set automatically EmailAddressPolicyEnabled to FALSE

  • Outlook 2011 for Mac with Microsoft Exchange 2007/2010

    Hi,
For already a fews days I am troubleshooting a Mac Outlook 2011 <> Exchange sync issue. I've got exact the same symptoms in two totally different environments.
    - Environment one:
    Exchange 2007 SP3 RU 14 (8.3.379.2)
    Outlook 2011 14.4.7
    - Environment two:
    Exchange 2010 SP1 RU 8 (14.1.438.0)
    Outlook 2011 14.4.7
    Problem:
Autodiscover and EWS synchronisation test from Microsoft Exchange Connectivity Analyzer is succesfull. Configuring an new (Exchange) e-mail account with Outlook2007/2010/2013 fully based on autodiscover works with no errors.
Configure Outlook 2011 based on autodiscover when connected to the internal LAN works. Configure Outlook 2011 based on autodiscover or by hand doesn't work from WAN.
I am unable to synchronize Outlook 2011 with Exchange when WAN connected (No error in logging). I am able to synchronize OS X Mail (Default OSX Mail client) with the same Exchange server.
Conclusion: the autodiscover function that Outlook 2011 uses does not work from WAN, the autodiscover function that Outlook 2007/2010/2013 and Exchange Connectivity Analyzer is using does work from WAN. Do I need to configure something special for synchronization
with Outlook 2011 other than explained above when working from WAN?
When testing EWS with 3th party tooling(EWS Editor) and Exchange Connectivity Analyzer everything is working as it should be. (all mailbox data is shown). If you need any more information about the context I am happy to provide.

    Hey hpujary.
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
At this time, only contacts can be synchronized with BlackBerry Link software and a BlackBerry 10 Smartphones. The functionality to provide more options for PIM synchronization may be added in the future. I cannot say for certain that the issue outlined in KB27248 is resolved for BlackBerry 10 Smartphones as the functionality does not exist to confirm.
    Cheers.
