Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2010 URL redirection

Hi,
I am performing exchange 2007 to exchange 2010 migration in co-existence. When i am accessing exchange 2010 OWA and logged in with exchange 2007 user then silent redirection is happening.
But when i am accessing the exchange 2007 OWA and logged in with exchange 2010 user, this is asking for manual redirection to exchange 2010 OWA url.
Please suggest the silent redirection method from exchange 2007 to exchange 2010 URLs.
All exchange servers are in same active directory site.
Regards Sunny Chauhan

Hi  Sunny,
You can run the below command to resolve this error
Set-OWAVirtualDirectory <CAS2007>\OWA* -LegacyRedirectType Silent
The LegacyRedirectType parameter specifies the type of redirect that Outlook Web App uses to a legacy Client Access server or front-end server when forms-based authentication isn't used on the Exchange 2013 Outlook Web App virtual directory.
The following values are valid for this parameter:
•Silent
•Manual
Silent causes a standard redirect. Manual displays an intermediate page that shows the legacy URL so that users can change their bookmarks.
Please mark as helpful if you find my contribution useful or as an answer if it does answer your question. That will encourage me - and others - to take time out to help you.

Sathish

  • Exchange 2010 IIS Redirect not working

Hi, this is our first time posting. Our http to https redirects in IIS seem to not want to work. Our setup before this happened consisted of the default website redirecting to "https://webmail.lsgnet.com/owa". This worked perfectly until the
installation of our new certificate. We have tried both the standard http redirect option under default website as well as a rule in the URL rewrite module. neither seem to want to work for redirecting to https. The HTTP redirect seems to *want* to work as
when its enabled, it successfully points "https://webmail.lsgnet.com" to https://webmail.lsgnet.com/owa". however it will not do the same for http (worked previously this way with old cert.) We attempted to disable the http redirect and instead
use the URL rewrite module following the instructions here: http://www.jppinto.com/2010/03/automatically-redirect-http-requests-to-https-on-iis7-using-url-rewrite-2-0/ but that doesn't work period. Bindings have been removed and re-added multiple times. Any
help would be greatly appreciated as we have scoured google and cannot find any solutions to this nor reasons why. Thanks much.

    Hi,
From your description, I recommend you verify the following thing for troubleshooting:
Open IIS Manager, click Default Web Site -> OWA -> SSL Settings, please make sure "Require SSL" option is unchecked.
What's more, here is a thread for your reference.

  • Exchange 2010 - Mail redirect

    Hello,
i want to set up my Exchange Server 2010 to pass ALL e-mails he recives on 192.168.137.102:25, to the "Filter" which is listening on IP address 192.168.137.103:25, then after it filters the email (for example delete some vulgarisms) it will
send them to my Exchange listening on 192.168.137.102:10025 and then the email will be send to users mailbox.
    I've already Set up:
    - send connector: Address space: SMTP *,  Smarthost: filter.<my_domain>, Source server: <my exchange>
    - recive connector: listening All Available IPv4 on 10025, Recive mail from: 192.168.137.103 (my filter IP).
However it don't work propperly. My Filter don't see any traffic, so no data is passed to it from the Exchange. Could you please tell me what else i should configure to have this thing works as i want it to?
    Thanks,
    Michael

  • Exchange 2010 URL and TMG 2010

    Hi All,
Would like to know whether can I publish my Exchange OWA through TMG 2010 with the URL on Internal and External the same (Example: mail.contoso.com) and using single-Nic?

    Hi
With a single NIC deployment, you will only be able to use the web publishing feature of TMG for Exchange. This means be able to publishing OWA, Outlook Anywhere and ActiveSync.
Same URL for Internal and Public Internet
100 % you can have same URL for Both and belwo are the DNS changes you many need to do.
You need to create a Split Brain DNS
Create a New Primary DNS Zone with the same name as you public Domain
Add a A record and point that to internal IP address of the Exchanges server OWA
On the Public Internet Add A record pointing to Public IP address which is used on webpublishing

  • After Exchange 2007 Migration to Exchange 2010, OAB is erroring

    Hello all,
I migrated from single server Exchange 2007 to single Exchange 2010 2 months ago using a co-existence environment.  The 2007 server is still running, but it's not doing anything but SMTP relay, as I am waiting on Oracle admin to point their server at
my new 2010  server.  Yesterday, I noticed a new mail enabled user we created was not showing up in the Address Book.  He is in the Global Address list when I check it from OWA.  And I can see him in my Address book if I search All Users,
instead of the Global Address List.  Everytime I try to update the Offline Address Book, I get the following error
OABGen encountered error 80004005 while cleaning the offline address list public folders under /o=2007Server/cn=addrlists/cn=oabs/cn=Default Offline Address Book.  Please make sure the public folder database is mounted and replicas exist of the offline
address list folders.  No offline address lists have been generated.  Please check the event log for more information.
    - \Default Offline Address Book
There was a Public Folder on the 2007 server, but I don't think anyone was using it.  All of our clients our 2007 or later.  Enable Web-based distribution is enabled and Generation server is my new 2010 server.  Enable public folder distribution
    not enabled.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

No, the Enable public folder check box is not ticked.  However, the link you provided has led me to other clues.  The author says "To locate the actual
OAB distribution point on the Client Access Server, the Outlook client will use the autodiscover service."  I wonder if still having the CAS role on the old 2007 Exchange Server still installed is causing issues with Autodiscover.  Below

I have also noticed that this directory has not updated since the 11/12/2013 C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V14\ExchangeOAB.  While this directory continues to update C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V14\ClientAccess\OAB

    Hi Akebono,
Let's check a few things in your server:
    1. From the Organization Configuration - Client Access - Exchange Activesync policies - Default: Verify if the option "Allow non-provisionable devices" is ON.
    2. From Server Configuration - pointing <YourExchange2010> - Certificates: Verify if your SSL certificate is assigned to IIS. (You should also be able to see this certificate from OWA https session)
    3. The problem may also reside in iPhone outdated software, try to test activesync connection from iPhone with the latest OS version.
    4. Take a look at logs in C:\inetpub\logs\LogFiles\W3SVC1\ of Exchange 2010, those might give some more details on connectivity problems.
    5. If you still experience such problems - post the ExRCA error report here.

  • Exchange 2003 to 2010 OWA redirection

    Hello,
We are currently migrating from current exchange 2003 environment to exchange2010.
For today we installed new ex2010 server with CAS/HUB/MBX roles.  Before we start moving mailboxes to new server we have to setup both OWA's on both servers.
During transition user have to use OWA regardless on which mailbox server user mailbox is located.
Today when user wants to open Owa he types https://exchange.domain.com/exchweb/bin/auth/ and webpage opening, but of course if i move such account to exchange 2010 mailbox OWA not opening (blank page with address https://exchange.domain.com/exchweb/bin/auth/owaauth.dll).
I have readed about -echange2003url in exchange 2010 but i don't know how to implement it.
Besides I suppose that during transition 2 OWA's aren't avaliable at the same time in internet if I do not have second public ip ? but like i mentioned above there is a way to redirect ex2010 account through 2003 url ?
One more thing, i have setup on exchange2010 internal/external URL to exchange 2003 current address https://exchange.domain.com/exchweb/bin/auth and also "-exchange2003Url" too and now when i want to logon on a mailbox which is located in ex2010
then now OWA ex2010 showing up and i can enter one more time credentials and finally open mailbox via Owa. But if i wanto do it from internet then blank page shows (https://exchange.domain.com/exchweb/bin/auth/owaauth.dll)
Thank you in advance for any suggestions.

    Hi,
According to your description, you have just configured OWA URLs on Exchange 2010 server as what you did on Exchange 2003. And the URLs on two servers are same. If I misunderstand your meaning, please feel free to let me know.
If yes, I recommend you check the following configurations:
    1. There is a legacy namespace for your Exchange 2003 server.
    2. Public DNS entries:  legacy.domain.com points to your Exchange 2003 server IP address; exchange.domain.com points to Exchange 2010 IP address
    3. Configure the URLs on Exchange 2003 server with the name legacy.domain.com
    4. Configure the property Exchange2003URL on OWA virtual directory of Exchange 2010 server.

  • Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2010 Transition

I am in the process of transitioning a client from Exchange 2007 to 2010(clients are XP/Win 7 with Outlook 2007/Outlook 2010). I know if have to extend the schema for Exchange 2010 and there will be co-existence throughout the process. At this point, Outlook
profile on users are point to either IP or netbios name of the server and their credentials. When I move their mailbox(in Exchange 2010 migration wizard), do I have to go to each Outlook and repoint their profile to the new netbios name of the Exchange 2010?

Outlook 2007 and newer will use a combination of AutoDiscover and redirection to update the client profile from the existing settings to the new server supporting their mailbox.  Just make sure you have DNS resolution for autodiscover and the new
    server names.

    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd876883(v=exchg.141).aspx
I see this in the outlook connection status in outlook:
I have changed all Exchange 2010 mailbox databases to use a temporary 2010 public folders db named "public1" so that it is not communicating with the 2007 mailbox virtual server. However, the exact same connection status appears after I changed
the 2010 mailbox DBs to use a 2010 public folder db instead of the old 2007.
Question is, is it safe to decom the 2007 environment now? Is it normal to still have a connection to 2007  in "connection status" in outlook when the users mailbox is on a 2010 mailbox db? Is this connection related to public folders or something
else that needs modified before decom?
    Thanks,
    Josh

So, that wasn't the answer. I switched the Public folder DB on each mailbox database to a exchange 2010 server, PF DB, but hadn't actually moved any data from 2007 to 2010.
I didnt realize this is needed when we don't use public folders except for free-busy, default, etc.
What is the correct way to move the default public folders to a 2010 public folder?
I'm using the below URL as a template to migrate this info to a 2010 PF db.
    https://www.simple-talk.com/sysadmin/exchange/upgrade-from-exchange-2007-to-exchange-2010---part-ii/
"The user Public Folders then need to be replicated to the Exchange 2010 Public Folder database as well. It is possible to manually configure
all Public Folders with a new replication partner, but it’s better to use PowerShell scripts that Microsoft delivers with Exchange Server 2010. Open the Exchange Management Shell and navigate to the Scripts directory
by entering the CD $ExScripts command,
    and execute the following script:
    AddReplicaToPFRecursive.ps1 -Server 2007MBX -TopPublicFolder "\"
    -ServerToAdd 2010MBX"
My question is, do I have to do this "3rd step" since I don't think i have any custom "user public folders". Is this the user's free busy that I have to migrate, or is this author referring to custom PF db info?
Do I have to have public folders for free-busy and default exchange services at all in 2010?

  • Exchange 2013 ECP redirects to 2010 OWA still

I have a new Exchange 2013 SP1 server on a 2012 R2 OS where I've installed both Mailbox and Client Access roles in an existing Exchange 2010 environment.  Initially ran into some DNS issues that caused errors installing the Client Access server, but
I fixed those, removed Exchange 2013 and reinstalled with no errors.  In every scenario so far, trying to access the ECP redirects you to the 2010 OWA.  I have been scouring threads for hours and tried everything I've seen, but to no avail.  I
    have tried:
    1) Using the https://<Exchange_2013_CAS_FQDN>/ecp?ExchClientVer=15 URL, which still
    redirects to the 2010 OWA
    2) Creating a new user account with all of the same rights as the domain admin but has no mailbox, which redirects to the 2010 OWA and throws an error that there is no mailbox.
    3) Setting the domain in IIS authentication settings for the ECP on both the 2013 and 2010 server.
Does anyone have any ideas here on what to try next?

Try creating a mailbox for the administrative account on the Exchange 2013 server or moving the existing mailbox.
I've seen issues like you're experiencing in various forms before myself, though not exactly as you've reported.

  • Outlook 2007-2010 keeps asking to login to exchange 2010 sp2

We Have Migrated our system from small business 2003 to small business 20011 using exchange 2010
there is varies versions outlooks working 2003/2007/20010 on windows XP and 7 workstations
Most are in the office on a 1 GB Lan but a number run across a software VPN
some not all Outlook 2007/2010 versions keeps asking to be login some regular, some only every couple hours
    OWA works Fine no issues

    Hey Alan
If you have enabled web-based publishing of your Offline Address Book (OAB) and your Outlook users get continuously prompted to enter their passwords, you need to check a couple of things:
Make sure Autodiscover is working perfectly before you made the OAB change.
Hold down the CTRL button and right click on the Outlook icon on the task bar, then select
Test Email Autoconfiguration. Unselect GuessSmart and Secure GuessSmart and keep
Use Autodiscover selected. On the Log tab, make sure Autodiscover is successful and that it was able to bind to an SCP.
Make sure that the autodiscover.domain.com entry is added to your certificate’s
    Subject Alernative Names list.
If you are facing problems with Autodiscover, you should correct that first before attempting the steps mentioned below.
Make sure that you have defined the External and Internal URLs for the OAB virtual directory in your client access server.
Once you have made sure that Autodiscover is working OK, and that the credentials are being prompted for the OAB URL (and not the mailbox server), you need to check the IIS Authentication setting on the client access server.
On the Client Access Server running Windows Server 2008, open IIS Manager console.
    Click on Default Web Site
    Open Authentication
Note that only Anonymous Authentication is enabled. All other authentication methods should be disabled.
    Temporarily enable Windows Authentication
Right click on Windows Authentication and choose Advanced Settings
Uncheck Enable Kernel Mode Authentication and click
    OK
    Disable Windows Authentication
    Do an IISRESET
Also make sure that kernel-mode authentication is disabled for the RPC virtual directory.
Restart Outlook. You should no longer get the prompt for credentials. Test the configuration with Outlook Anywhere clients as well, if you have enabled Outlook Anywhere on your Client Access Servers.
You may need to repeat this configuration on all Client Access Servers that are enabled for Web-based publishing of Offline Address Book (OAB).

  • Keep exchange 2007 Hub transport & CAS during migration to Exchange 2010

    Hello,
during a migration from exchange 2007 to exchange 2010 is it supported to keep the old exchange 2007HUB and CAS in charge of the outside mail flow (send/receive) and OWA service.
    Here is the scenario :
    Actual OWA url : https : // webmail . compagnie . com  (2007)
    Future OWA url : https : // owa . compagnie . com 2010)
Keep the old url accessible for the users which have not be migrated to the new exchange 2010 MBX server.
Indicate to the migrated users to use the new url instead of the old one.
Keep the old hub transport server (2007) handle the mail flow (send/receive) to the outside.
At the end, when all the users will be migrated, configure the new 2010 Hub/cas to handle the mail flow (send/receive) to the outside.
Thanks a lot for your answers.
    David

    Thanks for your answers.
So if I have understood right, the only thing I have to take care about (in order to let the 2007 cas/hub server handle the external mail flow (on which the MX is bind) until all mailboxes are migrated) is to add the 2010 cas/hub server in :
Organization Configuration ---> send connector ---> Actual 2007 send connector --> Source server
    Thanks a lot.
    David
That will take care of the outbound message flow, yes.

  • Exchange 2013 CU2/Exchange 2010 SP3 Coexistance OWA Redirection

    Hi,
I am trying to sign into OWA 2013 with a 2010 mailbox user and I just get the following page
    something went wrong
Sorry, we can't get that information right now. Please try again later. If the problem continues, contact your helpdesk.
Want to be able to use your email when you're offline?
    Next time you are connected:
    1. At the top of Outlook Web App, next to your name, click Settings
    2. Click Offline settings and turn on offline access
    3. That's it! You'll never see this message again.
I checked the logs and it looks like it might be trying to redirect to the Exchange 2010 Front end.

  • Lync 2013 standard deployment: Exchange 2010 Sharepoint 2010 and outlook 2007 collaboration

    HI
I have Exchange 2010 and sharepoint 2010 with all our user using outlook 2007. what options do I have for collaborations between these systems if I was to install Lync 2013. I have seen posts that mention that you cannot use outlook 2007 and lync 2013 and
that you would be better off installing the lync 2010 client?
    1. would we be covered from a licensing point of view if we had bought lync 2013 cals but install the lync 2010 software on desktops?
    2. what Cals do we require for presence to be available in SharePoint we currently have standard sharepoint cals?
    3. what new features will we loose if we install 2010 lync software.
    4. if our mobile users use the 2013 lync software will these be able to communicate with the 2010 users?
    thanks
    J

    Hi,
If you use Lync 2013 client with Outlook, multiple functions will not be achieved, such as: customize Outlook meeting invitations (add logo, help URL, disclaimer, footer text), in Outlook, configure meeting option to mute attendee audio and video by default,
presence status in the Microsoft Outlook To and Cc fields, and so on. As Lync 2013 is the part of Office 2013, the best choice is using Outlook 2013.
    More details:
    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg412817.aspx
For the CAL requirement, you can refer to following link:
    Lync Licensing Guide
You can refer to the link below of “What’s new for clients in Lync Server 2013” to understand the new features for Lync 2013:
    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj204933.aspx
If you use Lync 2013 mobile clients, you can communicate with 2010 users with no possible.

  • Public Folders no longer visible in Outlook 2007 with Exchange 2010

    Hi all,
This is a perplexing problem because I though I had done everything right
About 1 year ago, I migrated my Exch2007 to Exch2010.  The 2007 hardware was showing signs of quitting but it hung in there long enough to complete the migration.
All the user mailboxes, OWA, all other functions moved to the new server.
We use legacy Pub Folders and I manually created a Pub folder database and set up all the Pub folders to replicate from 2007 to the 2010.  Once replication has taken place, I removed the 2007 replication partner on all the Pub and System folders in
prep for removing the 2007.  But then I got busy and never finished removal.
Flash forward to a few weeks ago and the Exch 2007 box goes down hard, RAID containers gone, totally lost.  I did not immediately worry since all was still fine with Outlook and Pub Folder Access.
I got around to cleaning things up and after verifying that there was nothing pointing to the old server including the OAB and any PF, I used ADSIedit to remove the reference to the old server in the Exchange Organization.  Since then, although I still
see the PF object in the Mgmt Tool, Outlook does not see their existence.  OWA cannot see them either.
I have read that GAL problems can cause this so I have recreated this object to see if will help.
Has anyone else faced this situation?  I really need to get PF access back...

    Here is an update:
When attempting to "Update" the Default Offline Address List, I get the following error:
    Microsoft Exchange Error
Action 'Update' could not be performed on object 'Default Offline Address List'.
