Exchange 2010 ACE30 Load Balancer Configuration

Afternoon Everybody,
Does anybody have any good documentation, or example configurations on how to load balance client traffic inbound to distrbuted Exchange 2010 Client Access Servers they could share please?
We have a basic configuration in place that is troblesome that is using sticky based persistence for all services, with basic health probes looking at ports 25, 80, 443 and RPC specific ports on 135, 6000, 60001.  We are seeing major packet drops/loss as well as resets of the connections between the health probes and the servers that in turn take the servers out of the farm causing major downtime.
I would very much appreciate any pointers or guidance.
Thanks in advance.

I woudl clear out all users/groups on the security tab of the FDM Load Balance Server DCOm object for "Launch and Activation" and "Access" permisisons and then set the identity to the "Launching User" radio button and apply. Then re-set the config.
If that still fails, try rebooting the server and then set it.
Make sure the domain and password are also correct that is being entered.

  • Hardware Load Balancing Configuration and Session Clustering

I would like to know where I can find any information on Hardware Load Balancing

  • Office Web Apps Load Balancing Configuration Issue for SharePoint 2013

I have load balanced servers dedicated for Office Web Apps with name “md1xxxwfe1” and “md1xxxwfe2”
, both this servers are load balanced by CISCO Load balancer. And I have mapped Load Balancer Virutal IP with host name officeapps.jda.corp.local in the DNS records.
Things are working fine if I add new farm by using New-OfficeWebAppsFarm
with server name as internalurl in PowerShell console
     as like “  -internalurl http://
md1xxxwfe1  but when I use –internalurl officeapps.jda.corp.local it is not working at all. I’m not getting what to do at this point.
I have gone through following blogs but no luck.

The output of the wfe1 server is attached with this. When I open http:// /hosting/discovery in wfe1 I’m getting following result (attached
screenshot) but it should show hostname rather than server name.
    Please help me
    Thanks, Ram Ch

    Hi  Ram ,
For  troubleshooting your issue, please take steps as below:
Just about any load balancing solution will work, including a server that runs the Web Server (IIS) role running Application Request Routing (ARR):Install
    Application Request Routing
Install the certificate on the load balancer as described under Securing Office Web Apps Server communications by using
    HTTPS.
Make sure you have configured the cluster correctly for full internet name:

  • ACE Load Balancing Configuration For NATed User Traffic

    Hello,
I am currently working on a requirement where the shared application services will be hosted in DC and these services will be accessed by multiple (thousands) users from different corporates/customers. The user traffic will be hidden behind customer's proxy servers or firewalls so the load balancer (ACE modules) services hosted in DC will not be able to see requests coming in from induvidual users IP addresses.
In this scenario what are options of load balancing are available in Lyer3/4 and Layer7 ?
Thanks in advance for your help.
    Sanjay

    Hi Sanjay,
In a set up where all users are coming from behind a proxy, all users will be loadbalanced to same server thus overloading it. This is when you are doing standard L3/L4 LB.
In the situation of proxies, for HTTP applications you shall use L7 LB and use information(cookie) in HTTP client request or server response. The ace will use this information to stick the user to same server for persistence. If a client comes with no cookie it will be loadbalanced according to the predictor method configured. Below is the link for L7 configuration example and other TS steps you can take while configuring L7 policies on ACE. For more informatin i would suggest reading ACE user guide too.

  • Load balance configuration for clustering

we are going to setup multiple servers (clustering) for the BIEE. What configuration needs to be done to make them clustering? And, what is the load balancing alogrithmn behind? Pls help. thks.

  • ACE30 Load balancing based on IP and using x-forward-for header

    Hi Guys,
We currently have a load balancing policy setup to direct traffic to say FARM-A based on a particular range of source (client) IP addresses, and the default FARM-B for all the other traffic.
We are now looking to introduce a web application firewall (WAF) before the ACE.  The WAF will be inserting the client IP address into the x-forward-for http header.  Now I was wondering how best can be achieve the load balancing based on source IP given that we'll have to parse the HTTP header for this x-forward-for field?  Are there any examples that anyone can point me to?
let me know if you have any questions.
    thanks
    Sheldon

    Hi Sheldon,
You might try creating a class map that matches on the XFF header. Then use that as the L7 load balance criteria (based on the hash value of the XFF header), using the predictor hash header.

  • Modifying the goto URL - load balancer configuration

    Hi,
I am trying to find the location of the display.template which I can modify to change the "goto" parameter URL.
    Objective:
When I hit my loadbalancer URL "http://172.11.124.23/portal"
It basically can forward the request to ports 8080,8081 or 8082.
but I see the following in the browser after the redirection
    http://myportal.domain.corp:8080/amserver/UI/Login?goto=http://172.11.124.23/portal/dt
    instead of
    http://myportal.domain.corp:8080/amserver/UI/Login?goto=http://myportal.domain.com/portal/dt
so basically I get the acess manager login page but after authentication it goes back to the loadbalancer since the goto URL is'nt right.and load balancer again sends the request back to access manager. So it kinda loops back and forth betn load balancer and access manager.
I read on the forum which says display.template should be modified to correct the goto URL.
I am working in linux env.I tried changing the display.template at the following location but I dont see what I want.
    /var/opt/sun/portal/portals/portal1/desktop/default/LoginProvider
Can you point me in the right direction.!
    Thanks,
    Deepak.

  • Load Balance Configuration for OCS 10g

    Hi guys,
A few question on the load balancer requirement and setup for a OCS 10g cluster.
    1. Can Pound be used as the load balancer for the OCS cluster. (pound is an application for load balancer and reverse proxy).
    2. Basically the load balancer will have two network interface, the first nic is connected to the
user network, and the second interface is connected at the backend network where the ocs cluster is located. My question is at which network interface the virtual server name (ldap, sso and http ) for the ocs cluster should be created ? at the user network interface or the ocs network interface ?. Do the virtual name need an ip addresses ?
    Thanks for any info.

  • ACE30 load balancing across two slightly different rservers

    Hi,
is there a possibility to get a load balancing across two rservers so:
when client sends http://vip/ and it goes to rserver1 then url is sent without change
when client sends http://vip/ and it goes to rserver2 then url is modified to http://vip/xyz/
Or maybe load balancing can be done across two serverfarms ?
    thanks

    Ryszard,
I hope you are doing great.
I do not think that´s possible since the ACE just load balance the traffic to the servers and once the load balance decision has been taken it will pass the "ball" to the chosen server.
Think about this, let´s say user A needs to go to Server1 but guess what? based on the load balance decision it was sent to Server2 which unfortunately does not have what the customer was looking for. OK, fine, user A close the connection and tries again but now the Server1 is down then the only available is Server2 then the ACE sends it to Server2 again then user A just decides to leave, you see how bad that can be.
A better approach would be to have either 2 VIPs ( different IP addresses) or 2 with the same IP address but hearing on another port, perhaps, one port per server.
    Hope this helps!
    Jorge

  • ACE 4710 HTTPS load balance configuration

Have two ACE 4710 in HA setup. We would like to setup HTTPS loadbalance(actually just a primary and standby configuration in the serverfarm). Initially this would be for Exchange OWA connections but may expand to more HTTPS connections later.
I know there are several ways to do SSL with the ACE( client, server, end-to-end). I am just wanting to know the easiest way to deploy this? Is a certificate always needed on the ACE for each connection? In HA mode would a certificate be needed for both or does it replicate in some way to the other ACE?
Any configuration examples would be helpful.
    Thanks.

IF you terminate SSL on the ACE you need certificates and key on ace in the context in which you are doing the termination. The certs and keys need to be installed on the active and standby (manually unless using anm to manage).
    when speaking of SSL
SSL termination refers to ace terminating SSL and sending to server as clear text
end to end - ACE terminates SSL (to look into payload to make a loadbalance decision or sticky decision) and then re-encrypts to the server, so to the client ACE is an ssl server and to the server the ace is an ssl client.

    Hi,
I have CSS configured in single arm and I have multiple servers configured for load balancing and it is working fine but when I am configuring Exchange server for load balancing I am facing problem and applications and printer/scanners are not able to send the email through the Virtual IP address configured for exchaneg server.
But if we configured the real server IP in the printer/scanners they are able to send the email. While checking the logs on the exchange server, it is showing that request for the email so coming from the Exchange VIP configured in the CSS.
I can telnet on port 25 on the VIP address (192.168.200.237). But unable to send the email through this VIP.

I think this is related to single arm modle or some wrong configuration for the NAT.
