Exchange 2010 - Event ID 2107 Warning

We have a multi-forest environment configured with a forest to forest selective authentication trust with two separate Exchange Orgs.  One of our HT Servers is generating Event ID: 2107 with Source: MSExchange ADAccess and Task Category:
Topology.  It states:
Process MSEXCHANGEADTOPOLOGYSERVICE.EXE (PID=1272). Exchange Active Directory Provider failed to obtain an IP address for DS server <Server name>, error 11004 (WSANO_DATA (The requested name is valid and was found in the database, but it does not have
the correct associated data being resolved for.)).  This host will not be used as a DS server by Exchange Active Directory Provider.
The DC listed in the error is in a different forest from the HT server reporting the error.
Why would it be trying to populate this DC in its listing for Directory access?  The error has ceased, there are no connectivity issues, but I'm just curious what is going on here.
The only interaction going on between these to Orgs is Availability service communication.  Not sure if this is the reason for this.
Any insight, would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Hi,
Based on my research, This Error event indicates that Active Directory Provider did not obtain an IP address for an Active Directory server. This host will not be used as an Active Directory server by DSAccess. This could be caused by network problems. This
is a critical error if there are no other domain controllers available for load balance:
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/support/ee/transform.aspx?ProdName=Exchange&ProdVer=8.0&EvtID=2107&EvtSrc=MSExchange+ADAccess
For the error code, except with the resolutions in the above article, we can also use network monitor to find the root cause.
According to your description,  you are doubting why the server listed is the DC in another forest.
And I’d like to confirm the following information:
1. Do you install your Exchange server on DC?
2. Is the DC global controller?
If you have any question, please feel free to let me know.
Thanks,
Angela Shi

    Hi,
Please firstly confirm if the Autodiscover service, OAB service, Free/Busy information, OOF feature, OWA and ECP can work well for Exchange users or not.
If there are some issues when using these services or features for client users, please do the following points in IIS manager:
    1. Go to control panel and checked if there are any third party application or message logging application.
    2. Please recycle Autodiscover, MSExchangeServicesAppPool.
    3. Try to install the below hotfixes:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2801728
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2637518
If Autodiscover, EWS and other features are working fine but we still get above error messages reported for the Autodiscover, EWS PID's, please make sure that SystemLogging is turned OFF in Microsoft Exchange Troubleshooting Assistant tool (EXTRA) on the
    Exchange servers:
    1. Launch Microsoft Exchange Troubleshooting Assistant tool by clicking Start > run > type EXTRA > Select a task > Trace control > Set manual trace tags.
    2. Under Components to Trace, uncheck SystemLogging.
    3. Click Start tracing > Stop the tracing once the tracing has started.
(Please note: Even if we are not running EXTRA but still enabling the SystemLogging component will turn on MessageLogging)
Then check whether the issue persists.

  • Exchange 2010 sp3 IO latency

    Hello.
After i migrate all users to Exchange 2010 i see frequently Warning 10036 IoLatencyinMsec about 106-250 msec.
I check my storage and dont see any high load or queue.
On network level on monitoring i see transfer between 2 mbx in DAG comes in waves like - first data transfer is minimal but then i see peak of data transfer and again and again.
Did IoLatencyinMsec can cause DAG lagged copy?
What to look for to resolve a issue?

    Hi stevemaystr,
    Thank you for your question.
We could use Performance Monitor to check if this warning was caused by replicating delay.
If it is replicating delay, we could refer to the following suggestion. If it is not replicating delay, please let us to know.
In a general, there might be a slight delay in replicating the logs to the passive node or could be lot of transaction logs generation which in turn could cause delay in replicating. As the replication is not up-to-date, Continuous Replication has come out
from the Block mode to File mode. As soon as the replication comes to up-to-date, it will switch back to Block Mode again. Hence, this warning can be safely ignored.
However, we could change the block mode buffer size to 10MB to allow for a larger buffer window and possibly reduce the number of events by implementing the below registry keys:
    HKEY_LOCAL-MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\ExchangeServer\v14\Replay\Parameters\
Then ,we could add the two Dword values below if they don’t already exist and set the decimal value to 10:
    LogReplayerQueueLengthThreshold    Decimal 10
    MaxGranularSendDepthInReplay          Decimal 10
We could do a reference by the following link:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff625233.aspx
If there are any questions regarding this issue, please be free to let me know.
    Best Regard,
    Jim
This warning should not be safely ignored as this indicated that the system is not performing as expected.  We need to fix the underlying performance issues  and not adjust any granular replication settings right now.

  • Best practices for using AUTOARCHIVING in Exchange 2010

    Hi guys!
Exchange 2010 SP3 environment. We have 150 users. We bought two 2TB in RAID1 disk and they Will be used for Autoarchive DB's. We have currently about 10 Production DB's named by department. We have created 10 Archive DB's named by department and added Word
ARCHIVE at the end of the databasename.
We have 150 users. Some of them (let's say 50) are having 20 - 30 GB of PST files, all the others have about 4-5GB PST files.
What would be the best practise for putting quota restrictions? As I can see by the default a user is limited with 50GB per archive mailbox. In this scenario where 50 users have more then 20GB+ PST files long, and all the other less then 4GB what would
be the best practise for setting up quota limitation on newly created 10 ARCHIVE db's to achieve optimal solution?
    with best regards,
    bostjanc

    Hi,
As far as I know,  by default, in Exchange 2010 SP1, the archive warning quota is set to 45 gigabytes (GB) and the archive quota is set to 50 GB. And we can depend on the following command to set the quotas for all mailboxes in one database:
    Get-Mailbox -ResultSize Unlimited | Where {$_.ArchiveDatabase -ne $null} | Set-Mailbox -Archive Quota 20GB -ArchiveWarningQuota 19GB
Please note that this is not at database level but mailbox level.

    Hi Striker11,
    Thank you for your question.
I agree with Martin. We should find a tool to monitor those errors or warning. Because there are many Event IDs in Exchange 2010. If those errors or warnings are both important for Exchange maintenance. If Exchange 2010 update to Exchange 2013, we will still
use tool to monitor it and not modify the script.

  • How can I display my MS Outlook/Exchange 2010 Calendar events on my web application's calendar?

I'm building a web (client) application (built in html/JavaScript/jQuery) that has a built-in calendar. I would like to pull in my Outlook/Exchange Calendar events
and display them in my web application's calendar. What is the best way to do that from a JavaScript/jQuery environment? I've been searching all over for plugins or examples of how to talk to Exchange/Outlook and retrieve Calendar events but I haven't found
a solution yet. We are currently using MS Office/Outlook/Exchange 2010. I don't need to modify the calendar events, just read them. (Note that I can't use an OWA Web Parts link

    Hi,
There's an old Java API for EWS, and you can access EWS with direct soap request to retrieve the data you want.

  • Mac Office 2011 Calendar Events Moving on Exchange 2010

    Hello,
I manage a domain environment that is fairly small. It has Server 2008, Outlook Exchange 2010, consisting of two domain controllers and a hand full of other Server2008 servers. All of these are virtualized on VMware ESXi and running off of a SAN as well.
So that should give you a little idea of our configuration. The key issue that has been driving many people insane and I can't seem to find a resolution to is that Mac user's are having their Exchange calendar entries move. PC users are not having this happen.
I have instructed the users to be very careful about appropriate time zones when creating the events, permissions to not let anyone else edit them. This is still occurring and I can't seem to find an answer online as to why. All of the VM's clocks are good.
The end user clocks are set accordingly and I even began setting them static to where we are located. We have tried dissassociating the user's with this issue from their iPhone's thinking that maybe the phone was editing it some how through iCloud syncing
etc. None of this has worked. Any other ideas or solutions would greatly be appreciated.
    Thanks.

I have tried the "fsutil resource setautoreset true" fix without success.
Any ideas or direction would be much appreciated. Restoring this server will be extremely difficult.
    Thanks!

    We can close this question.
From an elevated prompt, I ran 'fsutil resource setautoreset true' and attempted to remove the files with .blf and regtrans-ms file extensions from C:\Windows\System32\config\TxR. but these files were locked by system processes. (They are also
tagged with the hidden file attrib so you may not see them at first)
So, I booted the system with a Windows 2008 R2 Install Disk, selected repair OS and selected the command prompt. I then performed a chkdsk /f c: and selected "Y" to unmount the drive. It made some repairs.
With the system booted from the install disk, and chkdsk executed, the locks were freed and I was able to delete the files from C:\Windows\System32\config\TxR.
Once the system rebooted, the services came back fine and everything was back to normal.

I recently upgraded from Exchange 2007 server to Exchange 2010.
I had PREVIOUSLY been impressed by well iCal under Snow Leopard worked with Exchange Server. Everything was great. But, after upgrading to Exch 2010, many of my repeating calendar items became invisible in iCal.
I did some searching on the Internet, and found I am not alone. My service provider support desk was also able to reproduce on their end.
    Steps:
Connect to an Exchange 2010 account using Snow Leopard iCal.
RESULT: All repeating calendar with end dates will be missing.
Workaround: Remove the end date, or use a fixed number of repetitions rather than and end date.
Another Workaround: Get Entourage to sync to Exchange, then get Entourage to sync with iCal. OK, but there seems to be some bugs there too where things don't always sync right.
Since most people use repeating events, Mac users should avoid upgrading to Exchange 2010 for now.

  • How to reset logs on Exchange 2010 after Event 518 stops backups from completing?

I'm only able to find references to resetting logs Exchange 2000 and 2003.  I'm looking for info for Exchange 2010.
There appears to be some kind of corrupt logs issue with one of our mailbox databases.  The corrupt logs cause the full backup to fail and because the full backup fails, the logs just get worse and keep growing.
The server has event ID 518 that says a log is  "is missing (error -528) and cannot be used. If this log file is required for recovery, a good copy of the log file will be needed for recovery to complete successfully. "
How do e get past this and stop the backup job from trying to look for this log file and start over?  I know that a full backup is supposed to clear the logs, but it will not happen because the backup never completes due to this log error.

    its still same for 2010
Stop all the databases in the storage group.
Verify the state of each database file in the particular storage group. For information about how to verify the state of each database file, see the "Database states" section.
Perform one of the following actions:
If one or more of the databases are in a Dirty Shutdown or Inconsistent state, determine which transaction log files can be removed without affecting database consistency.
For more information, see the "Log files" section.
If all the databases are in a Clean Shutdown or Consistent state, you may remove all the transaction log files except for the current transaction log file. Removing the
current log file when all databases are in a Clean Shutdown state will cause a reset of the log file sequence. This does not prevent databases from starting. However, a reset of the log file sequence affects the ability to roll a
database forward from a previous backup if the situation occurs.
Copy all the transaction log files that you want to remove to a different location before you permanently remove them from the transaction log hard disk. Do not permanently delete the transaction log files until you have
successfully completed a full online backup of all the databases in the storage group.
