Exchange 2010 failing during setup - Managment Tools

Hello,
I am hoping that someone can assist me with this error I am getting while trying to install Exchange 2010 on server 2008 R2. It seems that towards of the installation of the Management Tools it fails. Please see my screenshot. Any assistance would be appreciated.
Here are the steps that I have taken to troubleshoot:
Uninstalled exchange failed install
attempted to reinstall - fail
The firewall was turned off so I turned it back on because I read that someone else had the same issue and it worked for them.
So far nothing is working for me. I installed Exchange once before as a VM and didn't have any issues at all.

Hi
Did you set the service to automatic and start it? Did you reboot the server after that and then run the setup again?
Hope this helps. Please remember to click “Mark as Answer” on the post that helps you, and to click “Unmark as Answer” if a marked post does not actually answer your question. This can be beneficial to other community members reading the thread.
Thanks Ed,
When I first built the VM I stopped the firewall server then disabled it. So when I had to start troubleshooting this issue I started the fire wall and then and set the startup type to manual. I did reboot the server several times when I had to
uninstall the failed installation.

  • Installation of Service Pack 3 on Exchange 2010 Fails

Hello Everyone and thank you in advance for any advice.
I am trying to install exchange SP3 on an Exchange 2010 server. I have One Exchange server has Mailbox, Client Access and Hub Transport on it.
We had one exchange 2003 server and then installed a new hardware/software server and put Exchange 2010 standard on it. We followed all the upgrade KB articles we could find. After we were done, we then waited for Pub folders and OAB to sync. We then decommissioned
the old 2003 exchange server, removed it from the domain and disconnected all legacy mailbox stores.
We are not trying to install Exchange SP3 and below is the error we get. I may point out that I am suspicious it may have something to do with our email address policy because when I go to Organization Configuration > Hub Transport there is
    nothing in the email Address Policies Tab and then I get a warning;
    Microsoft Excahnge Warning
    Warning
    Get-EmailAddressPolicy
Warning: Recipient policy objects that don't contain e-mail address won't be show unless you include the includemailbopxsettingonlypolicy parameter in the Get-EmailAddressPolicy cmdlet.
Well I run it in the poweshell and I can see it but doesn't tell me anything. Anyway back to my issue when trying to install SP3. I get the following error.

Hi Martina, we no longer have the system Manager anymore for the EX2003 server. But I looked in adsi edit - in
    the value msExchPolicyOptionList and
the value reads <not set>, so nothing to delete there.
    I also tried "Upgrade
the Default E-Mail Address Policy from LDAP Filters to OPATH Filters" and when i run the command
Set-EmailAddressPolicy "Default Policy" -IncludedRecipients AllRecipientscomes back with "The operation can't be performed on the default e-mail address policy."So i ran Get-EmailAddressPolicyComes back with Warning: Recipient policy objects that don't contain email address wont be shown unless you include the IncludeMailboxSettingOnlyPolicy parameter in the Get-EmailAddressPolicy cmdlet.I then include the command it wants then it returnsNAME=Default Policy Priority=Lowest RecipientFilter=Alias -ne $null Then someone suggested to run "Get-EmailAddressPolicy "Default Policy" | FL"after running command above I get The operation coudn't be performed because object "Default Policy" Couldn't be found "DNSServer.Domain.COMANY other advice is welcome and appreciated.

  • Exchange 2010 failing to upgrade to SP1, SP2, or SP3

My host server is running Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard. Currently Exchange 2010 is without any service pack. I initially tried to upgrade to SP1 but that failed with the message below. Thinking that I could perhaps skip to SP2 or even SP3 I attempt that

Agreed - check the default email address policy is not corrupt and same for remote domains - did you make ay modifications to them?
Since he is running this as das Uber-admin, it will prep Exchange schema and AD even if not explicitly done prior.  Exchange setup is helpful like that, well some times....

  • OOF not working for mailboxes homed on Exchange 2010 server during migration

    Hi There
I'm troubleshooting an issue during a exchange 2010 to exchange 2013 migration where the OOF is not working for users homed on the exchange 2010 mailbox servers. This applies to users using outlook 2010 and outlook 2013 .OWA works perfectly and you can also
    enable OOF via exchange powershell.
Users homed on the exchange 2013 servers does not have any issues.
The exchange 2010 servers is on SP3 rollup 4 and the 2013 servers on SP1 only without any rollups installed.
So my question will be - have anyone experienced this issue during migration and will patching the exchange 2010 servers to rollup 5 or 6 and the exchange 2013 to sp1 rollup 5 fix the OOF issue then? If requested the client to patch to these levels, but
in the meantime I'm checking if anyone else had similar issues.
    Any pointers will be welcome.

    Hi ,
1.Please check the problematic exchange 2010 user account can able to access the ews virtual directory internal url and you can check that via browser's.It will prompt for the user name and password , please provide that .
EWS url wopuld be like - https://mail.youdomain.com/EWS/Exchange.asmx
2.Then the second step would be autodiscover check for the problematic user account.you can find that via test email configuration .There you came to know whether outlook is fetching up the proper url for ews and autodiscover.
3.Then please un check the proxy settings in browsers and check the same.
4.please use the command to check the auto discover

What could be caussing this failure ?
    Thanks

I had similar issue in windows 7 [64 bit].
It is found that the nodemanger windows service was not present and I had to create it by executing installNodeMgrSvc.cmd present in wls server location say, 'C:\Oracle\Middleware\wlserver_10.3\server\bin'  in my case and then come to bi wls console and 'Resume' the bi_server1 managed server. You would see progress in the installer once the managed server bi_server1 is 'Running' state.
    Hope this helps.

  • Orachangeuser fail   during Change manager synchronization wizard

    Here is the story:
I have a schema and I want to duplicate it,
    and alter some features.
So I launch Change Manager, Create a comparsion between my
reference schema and my empty, target schema.
I then use Tools - Synchronization Wizard, select all objects,
and it generates a change plan for me.
    So far, so good.
When I run the plan script,
it displays an error after every attempt to "change user".
    The error displayed is
    "orachangeuser failed for sys".
I ask myself "What is orachangeuser, and why is it trying to change
the user to my target schema's user?"
Anyway, if I ignore the errors, and press "CONTINUE", it finished just fine.
Only problem is I must press "CONTINUE" once for every orachangeuser, which
    is annoying.
    So I edit the script.
Before, proc cmchangeuser looked like this:
    # CM Priv - change all orachangeuser to call cmchangeuser.
    proc cmchangeuser {cur name} {
    global current_user
    if {$name == $current_user} {
    } else {
    orachangeuser $cur $name
    set current_user $name
After I change it, to gut the orachangeuser part, it looks like this
    # CM Priv - change all orachangeuser to call cmchangeuser.
    proc cmchangeuser {cur name} {
    global current_user
    set current_user $name
Then I run the script and it works.
Does anybody know what is going on here?
    Is orachangeuser an obsolete thing?
I'm using Oracle Enterprise Manager 9.2.0.1.0 in standalone
mode on a Personal Oracle Instance.
The weird thing is that I seem to recall getting such sycnhronization scripts to work
    just fine on this
    machine a week ago.
And if I choose just ONE table from the dozens in the schema,
it also works fine, executing the orachangeuser command.
    thanks,
    David Kreth Allen

Isn't it also true that in a stretched DAG with even numbered nodes, the PAM needs to be in the same site as the active DAG node?  If the connection between both nodes goes down, and the PAM is in the "passive" site, the primary node will
dismount the databases since it can't check with the PAM to make sure its safe for it to be up.
In a even-numbered node stretched DAG, the PAM changes to the DR/passive site everytime a failover occurs, but doesn't automatically switch back when you reactivate the primary node.

  • I uninstalled PS CS6 (non-cloud upgrade) WinXP SP3 then downloaded and reinstall failed during SetUp.exe

Review: I purchased non-CC upgrade from PS CS5>CS6 today at Adobe.com, downloaded and installed, seemed to work, but had problems after attempting ACR update that led to PS errors, so I uninstalled PS CS6 via control panel>remove>Adobe uninstaller. When I tried to reuse SetUp.exe or re-extract PS CS6 install files; all failed. Contacted support chat they said-download again that will work. That failed, too. Please advise on how to re-install PS CS6 upgrade on same machine where I removed it just hours before. OS: Win XP SP3
    Thanks, Paul

    Kglad,
Thanks for your helpful reply. I ran the cleaner, checked the log (ok), then ran installer. The installer ran (1 am) and after a brief celebration I looked and PS CS6 was not visible. It did not completely install and no PS CS6 icons were visible--I should have know something was wrong when it did not ask for serial number. I did System Restore, and just ran the CC Cleaner again (targeting PS CS6, since I believe that I need to leave the PS CS5 on the computer for the upgrade to work. Is there anything else that I may need to do to reinstall successfully? I think that the ACR I tried to install caused a problem -- can I target ACR for cleaning / removal further? I have valid serial numbers: loaded PS CS5 from box upgrade yesterday and then bought PS CS6 upgrade also yesterday. Thank you for your good ideas! Paul

  • Adobe 8.0 Standard edition fails during setup Windows 7.0 Pro

Does anyone know if Adobe Standard 8.0 is compatible with Windows 7.0 Professional?
I receive the following message 10 seconds into the installation.
The location of the installation does not have th rights or the disk is full.
I have full rights as administrator to the entire c: drive and 100GB is available.
Adobe 9.0 Professional trial installs with out an issue.
    Thanks in advance,

AA8 is not listed as compatible with Win7. Some folks have gotten it to work, possibly in compatibility mode (not sure). Adobe will not provide support for this combination. If you get the install to take, then you will likely need to do updates to get it to work correctly.

I bought an Airport Express Model A1392.  It is connected to my cable modem with an ethernet cable.  The cable ethernet works fine when plugged directly into my computer.
I open my Airport Utility on my Mac and no device is found.  I've tried resetting and powering off my modem and the AE.  Any other thoughts, is this a bum product?

fixed it myself: hard reset and setting my AirPort's wireless settings to 100% power did the trick.

  • Exchange 2010 - Email signature setup with Transport Rule - Want to disable the rule for iOS devices

So we decided to have a company wide email signature which pulls user info from AD to fill in the HTML template. What I have found out is that iOS devices send email as plain text which displays the HTML content with strings of text in emails send from
those devices. The only way I have found to make this work is have the user keep the default "Send from my iPhone" signature and exclude the rule based on that text in the body. Is there a cleaner option in case our users decide to change their default
    signature on their iOS devices?

I can't find a clean answer for you.
You might use the Set-TransportRule cmdlet and one of the exception clauses to look for something in the header.  I looked at an ActiveSync-generated header from my Droid (I don't have an iPhone to try this out on) and I see this:
    Message-ID: [email protected]
    The clause:
    -ExceptIfHeaderMatchesPatterns "Message-ID:\s(\S|\s)*email.android.com"
should exclude messages sent from Droids.  Of course, I can't say that it'll exclude all of them so you'll have to experiment and use trial and error.

  • Exchange management tools error "reboot from a previous installation pending"

I am trying to install the Exchange 2010 Management Tools onto a client. We have Exchange 2010 running already elsewhere, but have been doing RDP to the server in order to add mailboxes, etc., need to have more administrators on their own Windows 7 client

Windows 7 Enterprise (64bit) client computer in same domain as Exchange servers, UAC disabled, logged in as a domain administrator. Fresh restart. No updates pending. Noticed article

clear "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Updates\UpdateExeVolatile" or clear "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\PendingFileRenameOperations" - but neither of these keys
    exist on my computer!
Downloaded and unzipped Exchange2010-SP3-x64.exe to C:\Temp

Already have reviewed many articles on this topic, none seem to apply to my situation. I am going crazy trying to solve it.

As I've said this workstation meets the requirements for installation of the Management Tools. It is 64bit.
Thanks for the link to the exchangeserverpro.com installation instructions blog. It is something I had already reviewed. There are many comments with problems, so many in fact it is confusing what finally worked for people who ran into snags.
Many also reported the "reboot from a previous installation is pending" problem (that I am getting), but their solution to that problem is not obvious, since, as I originally posted, the Microsoft answer to that error message is contained in "http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc164360(v=exchg.80).aspx"
and the registry keys do not exist on my Win7 client. The other solution in the comments seemed to be to exclude the "Automatically install Windows Server roles and features required for Exchange" during install (but so far Ed and Rajith want
me to include that option). The blog is quite old, and so I hoped the SP3 for Exchange 2010 would have fixed the installer issues identified in the comments on that blog... but apparently not!
DNS is working in our environment. The IP address in the error message points to a network load balancer (NetScaler by Citrix) and does not respond on telnet using port 53... It is our standard DHCP-provided configuration for client DNS. (Does the
Exchange installer for Management Tools have some unique DNS requirements beyond normal name resolution? If so, does the Exchange admin need DNS admin rights?) Just to remove the load balancer from the equation, I changed my Win7 client network adapter settings
to use two real, physical actual Microsoft AD domain controllers to resolve DNS. I performed an IPCONFIG /FLUSHDNS. Then re-ran the Exchange 2010 installer. The specific error for DNS has gone away now that I am not using our enterprise's standard load balancer
DNS client configuation. I really need to know why this is an Exchange management tools requirement. Any ideas?
But still no-go on getting the Exchange 2010 Management Tools to install. Here are the latest errors on the Readiness Checks:

  • Exchange 2010 install

In our lab I’m trying to install an Exchange 2010, on a W2k8 r2 64bit (physical hardware). I would like to join it to our Exchange 2003 Org.
    Lab settings:
Single DC, this is the FSMO server, also the domain exchange account is in Enterprise and Schema Admins groups.
Two Exchange 2003 servers with 600 mailboxes.
On the new Exc2010 server prerequistes have been installed:
    .Net 3.5.1
    Office Filter Pack
    NetTcp port set to auto
    Import-Module ServerManager and Add-WindowsFeatures installed.
I’ve tried both Typical and Custon Installations, the Readiness Checks runs.
Organization Prereqs, Completed with a Yellow !
    Warning:
Setup is goimng tp prepare for Exchange 2010 by using Setup /PrepareAD. No Exchange 2007 server roles have been detected….
This looks like a standard msg.
The next three completed successfully with Green checks
Mailbox role Prereq: Completed with Yellow !
    Warning:

Again, this looks like a non-show stopper.

I was having a very similar problem and none of the above recommendations or solutions were working for me.  I was able to install Exchange2007, but NOT 2010  I had extracted the ISO, (*exchange2010sp1), local to the member server I was going to

What worked for me was one of our IT guys had an MSDN subscription and downloaded Exchange 2010sp2, which I guess was just recently released.  I read in another post someone, also experiencing this issue, was able to install the RTM Exchange2010
and  then apply the SP, so this most likely would have worked for me as well.  The ISO with SP1 failed to install for me in 3 different Active Directory Test Lab environments, with different hardware, different versions of Windows for the Domain
controllers, different AD Levels and on both physical and Virtual member servers.   I've included all of the failure text above in the hopes that anyone searching on this, will come up with my post and save a few brain cells in getting this resovled
because it really shouldn't be this difficult to find an answer that would appear to be something simple to report accurate on in a log or failure entry.
    Good luck, and take care
    Steve

  • Exchange 2010 public folder description property

In Outlook, if you display the properties of a public folder, on the general page is a field called "description".
In Exchange 2003 I waqs able to access this field using wmi and the microsoftexchangev2 object (comment field).  This object does not exist in Exchange2010.
The description field does not appear in powershell commands get-publicfolder, get-mailpublicfolder or get-publicfolderstatistics.
I have been able to find this field using ldap in the "microsoft exchange system objects" container in a field called info.
Unfortunately, this field is not always populated.  Out of about 6000 folders that have the description field populated, the info field is only populated for about 800.
So, my question is, is there a reliable place where the public folder description filed is accessible in exchange 2010?

    Hi,
To manage public folders, we can use the Public Folder Management Console. But we can't use it to manage description field.
Based on my knowledge, I'm afraid there is no built-in Exchange 2010 tool or cmdlet to get the description field of public folder.

  • DAG Concept not working in my Exchange 2010

    Hi ,
    Exchange 2010
In my setup two mailbox servers and 2 servers with HUB and CAS role.
One of my mailbox servers got down and DAG not works , and also noticed all  database dismounted including the other mailbox server Databases.
When Mailbox server brought up and all databases mounted without any manual intervention.
We have given file share witness as hub server.
Is there specific reason for this?
    Thanks

    Hello,
    Please check Andy's suggestion.
Please use test-replicationhealth cmdlet to check all aspects of replication and replay for DAG.
Please check if your network configuration is correct. Here is an article for your reference.
