Exchange 2010 - Room Finder Duplicate

I have created a room list in exchange 2010 and every seems to working fine. When I drop down the room finder menu on the scheduling assistant on Outlook 2010, I get the list twice.
I have ensured that the list only has one existence in AD, and I have also rebuilt the address book but it still seems to be showing the list twice.
I found an article explaining that deleting the below registry key solves the issue which it does until you schedule another meeting using the room finder and then the duplicate room list appears:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Microsoft/Office/14.0/Outlook/preferences/RoomFinderRecentRoomList
Please can somebody assist

Hi,
I did a test in my environment, and the Room Finder can work fine with Exchange 2010 and Outlook 2010.
Does the issue happen to all users? Please start Outlook in Online mode and check whether the issue persists. If the issue doesn't happen in Online mode, please create a new Outlook profile to have a try.
If it doesn't work, please start Outlook in safe mode to narrow down whether the issue is caused by any third-party add-ins in Outlook client.

  • Exchange 2010 Room Calendar Permissions are too permissive when Default is set to None.

Help! Room Calendar permissions are too permissive when Default is set to None.
We are a brand new Exchange 2010 shop, and have setup several conference rooms.  Many of them are restricted to specific groups to book via In-Policy Requests using Resource Booking Attendant.  The Room Calendar permissions for most
rooms shows only two options for the Default access: None and Full Details.  Default is set to None, yet if someone opens the room calendar in Outlook (& they are not part of the In-Policy restrictions) they are able to see the full meeting details
(even open the meeting for full details).  How is this possible when by default they should not have any access as it is set to None?  Some rooms would not be a problem for clients to see the details, but some rooms like Executive rooms need to be
locked down so that others cannot see the room details - None.
I also found this, although it did not make a difference.  If I create an Outlook profile for the room and login as the room calendar in Outlook, go to File, Options, Calendar, Resource Scheduling, Set Permissions I get different default options:
None, "Free/Busy time", "Free/Busy time, subject, location" and Full Details.  Why do I have more options in this view rather than the Room Calendar Permissions?  I looked at two rooms and both Default options were set to "Free/Busy
time", so I changed these settings to None.  Still the clients can view the full room calendar details.  What are we missing to get the room calendar locked down so it is not displaying details to everyone?

Only the default groups and Exchange Admins have Full Access to these items, so that is not the issue.
-MailboxFolderPermission 1RP07AWest:\Calendar cmdlet and it shows the same access I see when I open the calendar in Outlook and view the Permissions as shown below - Default is set to None.
As I stated in my last reply the only thing that finally forced it to be blocked is changing the Resource Scheduling permissions under Options > Calendar for that room mailbox.  If I have to do that for each room calendar, it's going to
take considerable time to change each one.  Is there a cmdlet to allow me to access and change that setting as well?

  • Exchange 2010 - Issues with Room Finder not showing available rooms.

    Hi,
We are having issues with room finder not populating the room resources that are available inside a meeting request within outlook 2010. It also appears that there is a drop down box that is present in a lot of the other forums and pages that I have referenced
    for troubleshooting:
Single Exchange 2010 server version 14.03.0224.002 running all roles. Migrated from previous Exchange 2003 environment and old 2003 server has been decommissioned.
Room mailbox created and all configured resource policies are working correctly for creating meeting requests. A distribution group was created and the room mailboxes added to this DG as per instructions here: hxxp://exchangeserverpro.com/find-meeting-rooms/
. We have recreated the OAB and confirmed that the Room mailboxes are part of this list.
Does anyone have any ideas why the rooms are not showing up in the Room Finder box?
If I have missed any information please feel free to ask for more info.
Thanks, all help will be appreciated.

    Hi,
According to your description, I understand that room finder cannot show available room in Outlook 2010.
If I misunderstand you concern, please do not hesitate to let me know.
I want to double confirm whether it works before, or it can’t work after decommission Exchange 2003? How about other Outlook version?
The offline address book (OAB) is generated by Microsoft Exchange Server. In order for the Room Finder feature to work, the OAB must be generated by Exchange 2010 or a later version.
Please run Get-OfflineAddressBook | FL Identity,Server to double check OAB generation server. Also, run Get-OabVirtualDirectory | FL to check URL for current OAB VD and force update OAB.
Then open Test E-mail AutoConfiguration to double check whether Outlook get correct URL.
After above complete, please try to switch to Send/Receive tab, click Send/Receive Groups, and then click Download Address Book.
    Thanks

  • Duplicate MessageIDs with Exchange 2010

    Hi,
A customer was complaining that some mails were not received by them. So I’ve been back and forth with them a couple of times and every time I show them our logs that their server accepts the message and we get an id from them so the message is delivered properly.
Now they dug a little bit deeper and noticed that it seems our Exchange server is handing out duplicate message IDs and the email is flagged as duplicate by their mail system and therefore removed and thus never received by them.
Outlook clients do not have any special plugins installed and are running on our Citrix environment which has Symantec Endpoint Protection as the virusscanner.
Using the Tracking Log Explorer I can see, when entering the MessageID of the message that is giving issues, that there are 3 messages with the same ID. All those emails are sent within 1 hour intervals but I do not think duplicate detection applies here since
it is only for incoming emails.
The message subjects + content is completely different for each of the emails.
Our Exchange 2010 version is: 14.02.0247.005
Does anyone know how we can fix this issue?
    Thanks

    Hey,
The link you gave me refers to Exchange 2007. Registry keys for Exchange 2007 do not match those of 2010 so I cannot find them on my system. The article also notes that the duplicate message detection cannot be turned off since the time can only be scaled
back to 1 hour minimum. Exchange 2010 does not have ExchangeIS registry keys so I have no idea how to check the current duplicate message detection time.
I have tracked the message back for the SEND event and I can find 3 messages with the same MessageID. This is the ID that the customer is reporting their system rejects because of duplicates.
The internalMessageID is different and everything else about the emails is different (time / subject / content / message size)
I have no idea how the MessageID is calculated but I would assume an ID based on Date/Time/Subject/Message content should never give the same ID for messages.

  • Find membership and associated rights of particular user in exchange 2010 / 2013 ?

Assuming we have two users -say U1 and U2 and we need  to map U1's access to U2 for a particular exchange 2010 conference room mailbox . is there a cmdlet or a way out to find membership and associated rights of 'U1' in exchange so that we may grant
similar access and rights for U2. Please suggest.
    Aditya Mediratta

Associated rights can be granted at two levels, one on mailbox which can be found using below cmdlet...
    Get-MailboxPermission RoomName| Where {$_.user -notlike "NT AUTHORITY\SELF" -and $_.IsInherited -eq $false -and $_.user -like "*U1*"} | FL Identity,User,@{Name='Access Rights';Expression={[String]::join(`, `,$_.AccessRights)}}
Second at individual folder level inside the mailbox so for Room mailbox calendar is the only thing you would need to check... You can check via Powershell but you need to open Shell with RunAs that user and while AD account for the Room is disabled you
can not do that so I would suggest you to verify by opening mailbox in Outllook as its just one Mailbox and see if U1 has permission on it or not....

  • Contacts app not finding names in Exchange 2010

Contacts app not finding names in Exchange 2010 server
This is weird, could be a bug in 10.8.2, not sure, want to see if anyone else is seeing this.
    Mountain Lion 10.8.2
Exchnage account created for: Mail, Contacts, Calendars. All looks good there.
Cannot lookup names / email addresses in Contacts Global Address List (GAL) or in Mail app.
Can delete the Exchnage account in Contacts and re-add it, and it will work.
Once Contacts quits and is re-luanched, no dice. No connection, just spins and spins.
Eventually Contacts app crashes, (not responding).
Outlook 2011 works just fine, seems an issue with Contacts.
    Thanks,
    John K

I thinkk this is a bug in Contacts app,  7.1 (1167),  in MT Lion.
If one inputs the actual AD domain controllers dns name, for the Internal Server, Contacts app does the lookup successfully and pretty quick.
This is how it is on Outlook 2011 BTW. Directoy Service in OL 2011 is the AD domain controller FQDN, not the Exchnage server.
    thanks,
    jk

  • Exchange 2010 unable to find objects in child domain via ESM

I am having a problem on Exchange 2010 which relates to mailboxes whose AD account is in a child domain in the AD forest.
We have two domains A & B in the forest. The site which hosts E2010 only has DCs from domain A (root domain). These DCs are set as Global Catalogues.
All Exchange servers (2 x CAS & 2 x Mailbox) installed in Domain A (primary site) can resolve domain B and performing nslookups for domain B on these server displays the DCs installed
in domain B at remote sites.
I am migrating some resource mailboxes with AD accounts in domain B and need to set them up as room mailboxes to enable the auto accept bookings feature.
After migrating the mailboxes via the EMS to set the mailbox as a room, below is the error I get:
    [PS] C:\Windows\system32>set-mailbox mtgrm1@domainB
     -Type Room
The operation couldn't be performed because object 'mtgrm1@ domainB' couldn't be found on 'DC01.domainA.com'.

        + FullyQualifiedErrorId : 9E6F6A1,Microsoft.Exchange.Management.RecipientTasks.SetMailbox
I have also tried using only the alias and the object CN:
    set-mailbox mtgrm1 -Type Room
    set-mailbox –identity 'domainB/Sitename/ Users/MSX Resource Accounts/Conf MtgRm1 (Video)' -Type Room
    but get the same error.
All employee mailboxes from Domain B have been migrated to Exchange 2010 from 2003 and are working with no problems.
I have confirmed domain B has been prepared for E2010 - In the Microsoft Exchange System Objects container in AD there is the global group Exchange Install Domain Servers.

Need detail information, steps would be nicer,  to upgrade from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010 to setup in test system first then try on production, since not much room for downtime, thanks bekir

    Hi,
Overview of the upgrade progress from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010 including the following steps:
Installing Exchange 2010 within your organization on new hardware.
    Configuring Exchange 2010 Client Access.
Creating a set of legacy host names and associating those host names with your Exchange 2003 infrastructure.
Obtaining a digital certificate with the names you'll be using during the coexistence period and installing it on your Exchange 2010 Client Access server.
Associating the host name you currently use for your Exchange 2003 infrastructure with your newly installed Exchange 2010 infrastructure.
Moving mailboxes from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010.
    Decommissioning your Exchange 2003 infrastructure.

  • Exchange 2010 Rollup 2 SP3 update cannot find installation package exchangeserver.msi file on SBS 2011... NEED HELP!!!

    Hello,
I am running a windows SBS 2011 standard system and there was currently an update for Exchange 2010 Rollup 2 Service Pack 3 and it keeps failing.  It says that it cannot find the installation package (exchangeserver.msi) and it is looking for it
in E:\Software\Exchange2010-SP3-x64\ folder but there never was this folder.  There is only an Exchange2010-SP3-x64.exe file.
The only exchangeserver.msi file that I find on the server any where is in C:\ProgramFiles\Windows Small Business Server\Bin\CMPNENTS\EXCHANGE14_SP1 but it won't accept it (says not authorized for this update or something alike).
Please help.  It is currently causing issues with email.  Some of the features are not working because it says exchange is currently under maintenance.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you.

Susan you are correct:  After I installed Exchange 2010 SP3, I deleted the msi just to "clean up' my hard disk...  While trying to install Rollup 2 for SP3, the installer is trying to find it.  I downloaded the installer, used 7-zip to get
the msi and I pointed the installer to it when asked.
    The installation failed 3 times...
NOTE: I was using WSUS to install the Rollup:  I downloaded the Rollup installer and I executed:  I could see where the installer was hanging up!  First it asked me to stop an SBS service and something else (sorry I do not remember), I stopped
the services and installation continued.  Then it asked me for more files from the SP3 installation which I found on the installation folder that I created with 7-zip.  I copied to the path that the installer was looking and installation finished
    (finally!)...
NOTE 2:  If you have any firewall appliance that denies Internet access to un-authenticated requests, you better turn that rule off because the installer accesses the internet (not sure why - probably for Dot Net assemblies)...
Susan THANKS for all your help to the community!  You have helped so much!
    All the Best
    Constantine

  • Exchange 2010 Outlook search can not find messages older than 1 year

    Hello,
I have an exchange 2010 sp2 server. One of my users complains that Outlook search can not find any message older than 1 year. He have all his 5 year mails in the mailbox, but looks like search engine cant recognise them :(
    Any thoughts? thanks in advance.

    Hi,
Please verify that indexing is complete in Outlook:
    1. In Outlook, click in the Search box.
    2. Click the Search tab, click Search Tools, and then click Indexing Status.
    3. When the Indexing Status dialog appears, you should see the following:
Outlook has finished indexing all of your items.
0 items remaining to be indexed.
Besides, please use the Search-Mailbox cmdlet to check if you can get messages older than one year in this user mailbox.

  • Exchange 2010 - All users can delete scheduled and accepted meetings in a room mailbox

    Hello Everyone,
I have a strange situation.  I created 4 conference room "room" mailboxes for calendaring of the conference rooms.  We tested to see if user A booked a meeting in room 1 - that user B could not go delete or change
that meeting if it was accepted.
Now - for some reason - user B (or any other user on Exchange) can now go delete any meeting made by anyone and has been accepted on the calendar.  I cannot figure out what has happened to my permissions that is letting this
happen. As far as I know - we have not made any changes to these room mailboxes.   We are Exchange 2010  version 14.01.0355.002.

    Hi
Have a try with the steps on this thread
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/exchangesvradmin/thread/ed89d6ac-0c48-43a8-8ed4-3d4f5d441737
    1.       Create a test mailbox as a new room mailbox, remove all permission on the Properties of “Mailbox” and “Calendar”
Notes: Confirm the permission under “Default” and “Anonymous” account is “None”
    2.       Use “Delegate” function in “Tools” menu to share calendar for “TESTALL” group as “Author”
    3.       Go to the Properties of calendar in room mailbox, confirm “Author” permission
    4.       In User C’s outlook, see if you still can delete the calendar item that User A created
