Exchange 2010 running low on disk space

Hi, I have a Exchange Server 2010 and its only got around 950MB free on it. I have asked users to delete items and i have personally archived mail by moving it into data files that are not stored in the database. In total I have moved around 15GB and the
mailbox database is still the same size?? I can see the mail backing up in the queues and am getting the 431 4.3.1 mailbox disk is full error message. Can anyone provide any suggestions? I have cleared as much space as I can. thanks

Exchange doesn't decrease the size of edb file itself eventhough you do house keeping in mailboxes. It will just mark that space in the database as white space and will utilize it when new data comes in...
Do you have any other drive with the space? To decrease the size you need to run the offline defragmentation but for that also you need to have 110% of space but that can be another drive on the same server or it could be network path. Also you need to dismount
the database during this operation. Check more details about offline defrag in below article on how to perform it...
How to Defrag an Exchange 2010 Mailbox Database
Also do you have indexing enabled for the database? If so, you can disable it and delete the indexing database (located with GUID folder name where your database is located) that would give you some room on the drive depending on size of the indexing database.

  • Exchange 2010 running out of disk Space

Hi I wonder if anyone can help.
We have a situation whereby over night we have ran out of disk space on a partition.  We have DAG environment and have 3 mbx servers and 3 CAS servers.
By calculations we have 119 Mailboxes mounted on this partition and if all had reached the 4gb we allow the mailboxes to grow to (which they aren't) this would account for 476 GB in size?  Looking at the .edb it's current size is 560GB.  Looking
at forums people seem to mention that Exchange doesn't clear up after itself particulary well and often leaves a lot of white space in the database?  Is this the case and if so does anyone have any solutions to remove it?
    Many Thanks

    Hi,
Exchange will always run online defragmentation on nightly basis, it rearrange the data (database pages really) within the database to have more contiguous white space.
We can run below command to check the maintenance schedule: Get-MailboxDatabse | FL Identity,MaintenanceSchedule
More details about “Do we need to file-level defragment Exchange database drives?”. For your reference:
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/exchange/archive/2004/10/25/247342.aspx
For your question, we can run command as Gador mentioned to get more details about Exchange environment. Especially, mailbox database copy.

  • InDesign is running low on disk space error

Has anyone come across an error message that pops up in IDD CS5 that informs you "Adobe InDesign is running low on disk space. Please delete unnecessary files to free up more disk space, and then restart InDesign"?
I'm working on a brand new machine that has 8gb of RAM and a 500gb HD and am nowhere near utilizing either my available RAM or HD so what gives?
    Thanks!

    Hi Steve,
I wasn't actually the user who was having the trouble. She had to restart
IDD because the program froze up on her. She hasn't gone back into yet to
see if the problem reoccurs but I'll keep track and will certainly reach out
    if it happens again! Thanks!

  • Running low on disk space...

My G4 main hard drive is down to a few GB. I have plenty of space on another internal and several external drives. I noticed my Library is about 37 GB. Are there any files (besides what is in the App folder)that can be moved or deleted to make more space on my main hard drive?
Thanks advance to anyone that can help with this,
    Craig

    Hi Craig!
Insufficient available space, can cause performance issues, system corruption, and possible loss of data.
Depending on Mac system usage habits, it is a general recommendation, to keep 10% to as much as 20%, of the Total capacity, available at all times.
Review the suggestions, in the documents that I have linked to below.
    Authored by Dr Smoke:

Is the Mac shutdown overnight, or does it run 24/7?
Have you ever run any routine Maintenance procedures?
If you turn the PowerBook off nightly, the Background Maintenance Tasks, are never run.
These can also be run, using a Third-Party utility, or manually using Terminal, to run the CRON Commands.
    I use MacJanitor, when necessary.
INSTRUCTIONS TO RUN CRON MANUAL COMMANDS
    Quit all applications/programs.
Navigate to HD > Applications > Utilities.
Double click on Terminal, to open.
    At the prompt, type:
    sudo periodic daily
    Press Return.
Enter your Admin password when prompted, then press Return.
This will execute the daily script that is sheduled to run every night.
When completed, repeat this procedure, but change the command to:
    sudo periodic weekly
This one rebuilds a database or two, and usually takes somewhat longer to complete. It is scheduled to run once a week.
    Repeat again, with command:
    sudo periodic monthly
Or they can all be run in one pass, which is preferable, with this command:
    sudo periodic daily weekly monthly
When the tasks complete, and return to the prompt, you may quit Terminal.
Restart the Mac, and run Repair Permissions.
TO REPAIR PERMISSIONS ON THE STARTUP DISK
1.Open Disk Utility, located in Applications/Utilities, and select the startup disk in the left column.
    2.Click First Aid.
3.Click Verify Disk Permissions to test permissions or Repair Disk Permissions to test and repair permissions. (I never "Verify". Just run "Repair".)
When "Repair Permissions" is complete. Quit "Disk Utility".

  • Bridge Freezing after Caching Photo Shoots - Says Running Low on Disk Space & To Purge Cache

    Hello,
I'm working in  Bridge CS5 on a Mac 0S X version 10.9.2. I have 12 GB of RAM and the server has 240 TB capacity, 76.69 available.
Recently I've received the following error message while processing large photo shoots with both DNG and JPEG files: Bridge is running low on memory. It is recommended that Bridge is restarted.
I have also been manually caching large photo shoots and my cache preferences were set to Keep 100% Preview In Cache and Automatically Export Cache To Folder When Possible. My cache size was set to 500,000.  Yesterday, Bridge started to freeze while attempting to open folders. The wheel would spin at the bottom with the message Compiling Criteria. The only way to close Bridge was a Force Quit. This happened several times.
Today, image thumbnails will no longer display, only the DNG/JPEG icons. I received the following error message:
I have tried restarting Bridge while holding the alt/Option key to reset the preferences and checking all three boxes - no luck. I have done the same thing with the boxes unchecked - no luck.  I have tried manually purging the cache from its location in the library - no luck. I have tried resetting the cache preferences from the toolbar - no luck. I have tried deleting the cache files from the folders - nothing. happens, I have tried purging the cache for each folder from the tool bar - nothing happens.
I need to restore the thumbnails and rebuild the cache for each folder. Does anybody have an idea what is wrong or how to help?
    Many Thanks!

  • MacBook running low on disk space

I have a 2008 MacBook 13" and have a ton of photos, movies, songs, etc. saved directly to the laptop.  I am starting to run out od hard drive space but the laptop is still in good working order.  Is there a way to transfer all of this to an external hard drive to free up space on the computer?

Your welcome also when you're replying please click "Reply" in the post you are replying to, that way we can tell who your communication is directed to.
Finally if you would like some suggestions on high quality EHD's I'd recommend any of the following:
G-Tech G-DRIVE series, OWC Mercury Elite Pro series or LaCie d2 Quadra series.
Personally I use the LaCie's (I've got 4 total) however OWC and G-Tech would also be more than welcome on my desk.

  • Exchange 2013 - Client Access Servers - Disk Space C:\ Running Low Space

Currently having an issue with both of our client access servers with exchange 2013.
The issue is that the C:\ drive will run low on disk space on one of the cas server and the other one will be fine.  We have cleaned up all the logs etc to free space on the cas server that is running low on space but its not sufficient enough
as it keeps on running low on space, then what we do the free up the space is to reboot the cas server that runs low on space, and it free the space up after it has been restarted, then the other cas server starts running low on space.
    has anyone seen this before?

    Hi,
If it is possible, I suggest re-installing Exchange Server on another path instead of C:\.
    Thanks

  • Hard Drive low on disk space - What is the process of moving B1 Server App?

The partition the SAP B1 Server App is installed on is running low on disk space. I would like to move the APP from the D:\ to a new, faster, hard disk we have installed.
What is the process for uninstalling and reinstalling the server app to a new partition.
Is there any documentation that outlines this process?
What are concerns I should have for doing this?
Any and all info is appreciated.
    John Sefton

Fine. Then Backup the Client Database from SQL Server Management Studio.
Backup the B1_SHR folder from the SAP Server.
Now uninstall SAP B1 from the Server.
Restart the Server and do a Fresh Installation of SAP B1.
Apply for New License Key. Install the License Key after you get from SAP portal.
Upgrade to the Patch similar to that of the Backuped Client DB Patch.
Now create a new company in SAP B1.
Restore the DB which was backed up.
NOTE: I suggest these operations to be done by experienced guys. If you are a SBO Customer, then I recommend you to ask your Implementation Partner to do this exercise.

  • HT1923 hi, my mac air is really low on disk space, can i remove iTunes (which is huge) to an external hard drive to free up space and then just run it from the hard drive. instead of taking space on the mac? even if the mac no longer has enough to accommo

Hi, my mac air is really low on disk space, can I remove itunes (which is huge) to an external hard drive to free up space?...and then run it from the hard drive instead of the mac, even if the mac no longer has space to accomodate the size of the library?

    Yes.
Copy your music iTunes Library folder to the external drive and change the Advanced settings in iTunes to point to this new location.
Once you're happy with these changes you can delete the same Library from your User account to free up space on the internal drive.

  • "Running Low on free space in Startup disk"?

I am trying to burn a DVD and after so long the message comes up saying i am running low on free space. I have checked my internal drive and amazed at what is being used.
    Capacity: 55.77GB
    Available: 1.44GB
    54.36 Used on Disk.
Can anyone tell me how i can make free space and delete whatever is using all my memory? Its not being used in any of my programmes that i use, i.e. itunes, imovie etc.
Any help would be great. Thank you.
IBook G4, Powerbook 6.3     Mac OS Extended

First of all, it is dangerous to have that little free space. OS X needs some breathing room (about 5-10% of the HDD free).
The files could be anything, really. Music and Videos, including Garageband loops take up a ton of space. I would snag an external firewire drive and put some stuff on there.
Your problem is hard drive space, not memory, FYI. If you are running Tiger (10.4.x). Google and download "Tiger Cache Cleaner" (there is also a Panther version). Running it may free up some space, as will running Monolingual, which strips other languages from your machine.
Another thing you can check is your printer database. If you go to Macintosh HD--> Library--> Printers, you can delete any printer driveers you don't need. (Be careful with this, as it requires your admin. password...)
    iSMH
Ps- the OS also takes up some space, as do 3-rd party applications.
Let me know how it goes.

  • Disk "firmwaresyncd.yADbW6" is running low on free space

My CheckUp program is alerting me: Disk "firmwaresyncd.yADbW6" is running low on free space. I know this is not a 'Disk' but not sure how to deal with this. My Mac is now slow and I think it is related. It's a Power Mac early 2009 running OS X 10.8.3. Haven't had any luck searching the web for info on this problem. Would love opinions or ideas for things to try to solve my problem.
    THANKS!

    Avatarsound wrote:
I wrote to the app developer who informed me that 'CheckUp' is no longer supported and I should buy their other product. I uninstalled the app, and will see if performance improves.
Be sure you got it all . . . apps like that sometimes have background jobs, too.  Did it have it's own uninstaller, or did the developer tell you what to delete?
Thank you for asking - the file was not a disk or an image, so it was quite perplexing.
    Indeed!

  • Running critically low on disk space.

I'm getting getting frequent "Running critically low on disk space." Except I have 200GB free on the drive with the library and 95GB free on my system drive. Still happening with v2.01. Any ideas on what is going on.
    Thanks.

The photos are in the library. But the library isn't on the start-up drive, so I don't think there should be any VM on it. But I was moving photos around so may have filled up the drive. But after emptying the trash and rebooting, I had 200GB free (on a 1TB drive) and still got the low space message.
It occurred to me to rebuild the database and that seems to have stopped the message.
