Exchange 2010 Schema prepare failing - ldife with code 110

Hi, I'm trying to prepare our Server 2008 r2 to migrate from exchange 2003 to 2010.
When trying to do a PrepareSchemaif fails running ldifde.exe and it exits with code 110.
Only 1 forest
Exchange 2003 is in native mode.
Attempted this on my DC server 2008 with account that is part of the admins group.
I have checked and no firewalls are turned on, and I have all virus protections turned off.
DCDIAG tests all pass.
I have ran a Pre-deployment Analyzer and the only issue is that Active Directory Schema needs to be upgraded (which I'm attempting to do obviously).

try running the command from an elevated prompt with an account that is part of the schema admins group.
if you run the same command from the exchange server what happens?
what is your schema currently on? you need to be on a minimum of windows 2003, 2008 will be better and ensure that your roles are on the highest DC.

I think there is not native rule for this, but you could try a transport rule which removes all attachments over a very small file size like 1KB.

Exchange 2010 SP1 install fails with -1603 error

I am getting a -1603 error when installing Exchange 2010 SP1. Installation fails when copying files/removing old version with the following error:

I've the same problem when I try to install the SP2.
When I try to install RU 4v2, 5 or 6, then comes error 2771. So I waiting for SP2 in the hope, a full install of the SP will fix this.
But the setup broke with the following entries:

What version of Exchange 2010? SP2, RU #?   I saw this support article form MS for 2003 --> 2010
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2579051. Not sure if it is applicable. It could be you need to go to RU4 for SP2 Exchange 2010. Do not install RU5 as there were issues.
I've also run into several support articles about ACLs on the mailbox or fiolders:

Exchange 2010 SP3 /PrepareAD failing; "A reboot from a previous installation is pending. Please restart the system..." error

I am attempting to prepare our Exchange 2010 Server (RTM) for an upgrade to SP3.
When attempting to run "setup.com /PrepareAD" to prep the AD schema, the command fails and I receive the following error in the ExchangeSetup log:

I am receiving this error when attempting to run "setup.com /PrepareAD" from either of our two GCs and I get the same error from both GCs, so the issue doesn't appear to be related to the individual servers.
What should I be checking, to clear this error so the AD schema update can be performed?

Server: Windows 2008 R2 (fully patched)
Domain and Forest functionality: Windows 2008 R2 native

One follow up:
If I go into regedit, I see that under HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager there is an entry from when I recent installed Google Chrome.
The entry looks like:
MultiString: PendingFileRenameOperation
Value Data: \??\C:\Program FIles (x86)\Google\Chrome
Is this "pending rename" what's causing SP3 to refuse to install, because it thinks the OS install state isn't 'clean'?

I tried to install exchange 2010 on one of our child domain (windows server 2003 SP2) and i succes to make a DCPROMO and the prerequest check finish succesfully after 2.5 houre then when try to install i have recieved our that setup failed to reconnect

Dpm 2010 exchange 2010 backups are failing

Hi, I'm getting an error which does not seem to match in the DPM 2010 ID codes. Randomly, I have backups of an exchange 2010 DAG that are failing. The backup will run for a short time (5mints..up to 10minuts) and then will fail with the following error:

I've tried restarting the DPM server to troubleshoot. I say this happens randomly because I've had some backups successfully complete against the same exchange server. The only other item that seems odd is when creating protection groups against the DAG,
the intial lookup seems to take forever. Not sure what to try next.

As DPM relies on the exchange writer to take the snapshot for the backup, if the backupinprogress flag is set to true and it does not seem get out of this state even when there is no actual backup in place, then at this point DPM is the victim.
As far as I am aware the only way is to clear that flag is to:
a.) Reboot the exchange server
or
b.) Restart the information store
In some cases even:
1.) Either Activate all other databases on another Node except for the Problem Database, and Dismount the Problem database temporarily
Or:
1.)Dismount all Databases on this Node including the problem database
2.)Restart the Exchange Information Store Service.
3.)Mount any dismounted databases
You may want to redirect this question below to the exchange 2010 forum of:
"if the backupinprogress is set to true when it should be set to false as there really is no backup being taken, then how can I reset it without having to perform:
a.) reboot of exchange
b.) restart of the information store"

I have Exchange 2010 SP2 RU8. We tried to install SP3 but continue to get a failure.
The upgrade cannot be installed by the Windows Installer service because the program to be upgraded may be missing, or the upgrade may update a different version of the program. Verify that the program to be upgraded exists on your computer and that you

As per the below log entries it seems that it is trying to install SP3 UR6 directly and failing saying its not applicable. If you are trying to install just SP3 then it shouldn't try installing UR6 at the same time so that seems strange to me...

Rollup 8 for Exchange 2010 SP2 causes EWS error with bad parameter for Exchange.MailboxReplicationService.ProxyService

When I installed Rollup 8 for Exchange 2010 SP2 it caused an error in EWS
EWS failed with the error:
exchange web service could not load file or assembly Exchange.MailboxReplicationService.ProxyService bad parameter
When I uninstalled the rollup all worked fine again.
Any ideas, Thanks in advance?

To apply this update rollup, you must have Exchange Server 2010 SP2 installed. And remove all interim updates for Exchange Server 2010 SP2 before you apply this update rollup. Please check your installation deployment by the following article:

Exchange 2010 SP3 Rollup 6 issue with Forefront

This rollup, 2936871, when installed on a server having Forefront Protection for Exchange Server integrated with Exchange services, causing Information Store not starting. For this we have to disable the integration and start the services. When again you
try to integrate and start the services, Exchange services will not start. So you should not integrate Forefront with Exchange services at all, finally.
Has anybody already in this soup?
Whether Microsoft has checked this? Any solution?

Hotfix Rollup 3 for Microsoft Forefront Protection for Exchange can address the issue that the Exchange Information store crashes with Forefront Protection for Exchange installed. I recommend you install Hotfix Rollup 3 for Microsoft Forefront Protection
for Exchange to check the result.

Exchange 2010 - 2013 Mailbox move - Syncing with no progress (Stalled?)

I'm in the process of moving mailboxes from Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2013, the major of the mailboxes have moved successfully, however I did not anticipate the additional space required by Exchange 2013 and ran out of disk space during the mailbox move,
and some mailboxes did not move successfully.
I have since added additional space but can't seem to get the remaining mailboxes to sync.
I have tried :
Rebooting
Clearing out migration batches and recreating
Stopping and resuming batches.
I see nothing helpful in the Migration log files.

When I download the report for one of the users I see this, but don't know what it means :

My mailbox database currently has Content index state: FailedAndSuspended
I only have one database, I am not using DAG

I had already created the contentsubmitters and it helped with the speed of the mailbox moves. We have a SMB with >100 users and everything was working great, migrating from 2007 to 2013. If I had it to do over, maybe it would have been better
to go to 2010 on a 2008 R2 box but decided to jsut go straight to 2013 on a 2012 R2 server. But the one thing I REALLY wish I had to do over again is to allocate about 3 times more space to the drive that was to hold the mailbox database. Everything
was working so well until a mailbox was being moved - a batch of several, I was doing maybe 5 at a time for the larger mailboxes - the disk filled up. Also, before I realized what was going on, I ran some cmdlets thinking my receive connectors weren't
right. I recovered the database - at first it would not mount at all... but after eseutil /r and /p (and allocating more disk space) I could mount the database and open the mailboxes. But from then on, nothing is being received and if you send,
it goes to sent items - doesn't hang in outbox, but never goes anyhere except into a queue. I have MS support working on it and it's been escalated to the top. If they fix it I will try to post any helpful information I can learn from it. But one
lesson - I will read the planning and preparations documentation thoroughly from now on.
Oh, and also, I keep getting this message in the ECP when navigating to the Recipients>migration applet:
Cannot open mailbox /o=<Organization>/ou=Exchange Asministrative Group (FYDIBOHF23SPDLT)/cn=Configuration/cn=Servers/CN=<yourExchangeserver>/cn=Microsoft System Attendant.
If you did the same thing, (and didn't hang yourself or jump in front of a speeding locomotive), you are stronger than I. Not that I have taken the path of the Samurai network admin or anything....
And if you were able to fix it, I am impressed and would love to know how you fixed this.

Exchange 2010 SP3 Installation Failed. - Error While Locating Source (Windows Installer)

Hey Guys,
Urgent question here: I was trying to install SP3 for Exchange 2010. Unfortunately it failed on the install (all pre-requisites checked and passed). The problem: Windows Installer couldn't find a the exchangeserver.msi file. This happened immediately
after setup stopped the services.
I tried re-downloading the service pack and reinstalling, I got the same error. Anytime I selected the file using browse it failed and re-prompted me.
Error:
"click ok to try again or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package "exchangeserver.msi" in the box below"
So here is what I did:
1) I reset all the services to automatic (the same way as before)
2) Rebooted the server
3) All Service started
4) DAG replication is working
I am going to work on figuring out how to fix the issue, however will this be a problem? will there be any data corruption? am I safe to let the server sit until I can open a ticket (if needed) ?

Thank you for your question.
In order to resolve it, we could click the Browse button in the dialog box, locate the ExchangeServer.msi file, and then click OK
to continue the installation. The ExchangeServer.msi file is located on the Exchange Server 2010 installation media。

UAG 2010 SP3 - OWA Exchange 2010 - Large attachments fail to open

We have a UAG 2010 SP3 server in front of Exchange 2010 CAS. On the UAG side we have disabled the component installation and activation for UAG within the session configuration. When users access OWA and open attachments it works fine up until a certain
size of an attachment. Somewhere around 10MB we are unable to download externally from OWA. At that point when clicking on the attachment a "The page cannot be displayed" is received.
Attachments of sizes larger than 10MB are able to be opened internally accessing the CAS directly. Under the Download/Upload configuration of the OWA application in UAG Identify by URL is checked for both (Uploads has Identify by size but Download
is unchecked).
Is there a limitation on UAG to OWA download size? Is there any other configuration that should be checked to alleviate this issue?

Exchange 2010 DAG DB Failed, low disk space

We have a DB vol that's run out of space. We have 3 other copies, 2 others are healthy. Tlogs have filled the disk. The DB is in Failed status with the following errors:
ErrorMessage                     : The Microsoft Exchange Replication service encountered an error while
                                   attempting to start a replication instance for jdcdb04\JDCXMETSP001.
If the
                                   copy doesn't recover automatically, administrator intervention
may be
                                   necessary. Error: No space left on disk (-1808)

What is the best way to recover from this? Should we reseed? It's large and will take hours to reseed. Can we move off already committed Tlogs , and then roll in the logs by mounting (Get-MailboxDatabase DBName -status reports it's mounted) ,
or using eseutil to roll the logs in?
Any feedback is appreciated.

Based on your description, you have 3 other copies, so I understand that you have one active database and three passive copy in your environment. About the passive copies, two are healthy and one is failed. Is it right?
You need to perform full backup on active database to truncate transaction log files. After that, please reseed the failed database copy.
