Exchange 2013 change account

So some net admins setup separate AD accounts for email access on the exchange 2013 server here at work.  These accounts are separate from the accounts used by users to log on to their workstations.
I need to merge these email accounts to the correct domain accounts.  In ECP, if I edit the account properties for a particular email account, can I just change the username shown there to use the correct AD account or do I need to wipe out the email
account and recreate it using the correct credentials?
Thanks.

Hi,
According to your description, you want to link a mailbox to an AD account. If I misunderstand your meaning, please feel free to let you know.
If yes, we can try the above suggestion: disable the mailbox and then make the disconnected mailbox connect to the AD account.

  • Exchange 2013 OOF not working for migrated accounts

We are having a problem with the Out of Office responses in Exchange 2013.
We are getting the error “Your automatic reply settings cannot be displayed because the server is currently unavailable.
Try again later.”  I have been through several help articles that I found on the internet and so far none have resolved the problem.
Autodiscover is working as expected when connecting an Outlook client – and I can access the url identified by the “Test Email AutoConfiguration” tool for OOF – it returns the xml document as expected. New accounts created in this domain work, but the
problem occurs accounts that were migrated from Server 2003 domain running Exchange 2007. I can also access the OOF settings for a migrated account using OWA. The new domain is 2012 and Exchange 2013 and accounts are being migrated using ADMT through a trust,
which is working as expected.  Only the accounts have been migrated (not mailboxes) and I am not planning to connect the old exchange to the new to do mailbox moves – instead I am just planning to export psts from the old Exchange 2007 server
and then import them to the 2013 server.  The client dns settings are correct and all other connectivity seems fine.
Any ideas are greatly appreciated.  I have also tried creating a new Outlook profile, turning off Cached Mode, and creating an entirely new Windows profile and Outlook profile.
I have also tried using Outlook 2007, Outlook 2010 and Outlook 2013.

I solved this - EWS was disabled for the mailbox.  Set-CASMailbox -Identity User -EWSEnabled $true fixed the problem.

  • How do I stop receiving calendar invites on iCal/iCloud and use exchange 2013 calendar instead?

I Have an exchange 2013 email account which isn't registered as part of my iCloud account.
i Use my outlook calendar (exch) for work and the same exch calendar day to day from all my iOS devices.
when a colleague or outside email away from my company sends me a calendar meeting request, it works fine. (Using my exch email as the invite recipient).
my girlfriend sends me a meeting request from her hotmail account using the same exch email address for me, but he. Invites always arrive to my iCloud/iCal calendar instead! I can't seem to change it so I often miss diary notes or reminders unless I constantly look at both calendars.
i Just want to use exchange calendar and lose iCal (or if easier sync both iCal and exchange calendars vica versa - but that may be over complicating the issue, basically I just need one calendar and would rather it be my outlook exchange cal)
    any ideas?

    Hello again,
False alarm..... it didnt work sorry.
I removed the iCal accounts from my mac, and also from my iphone. Then when my partner sent me a calendar invite it simply didnt arrive at all!
She has a hotmail account installed on her IOS iphone 5.
She is sending the invite to my exch 2013 email address which is not associated with any icloud account.
My exch 2013 email is installed in both my Outlook for mac 2011 and IOS device Iphone 5s.
When I switch the iCloud Calendar back on in my iphone 5s, the invite comes through but ONLY optional to the icloud calendar. I cannot seem to get it receiving on my default calendar which is set to Exchange 2013 account.
Its very strange as its only her invites that do this. Anyone else's come through on my exchange calendar because its the same email address receeving it my end.

  • Exchange 2013 category view always in "expand all" mode

    Hi all,
having issues with mailboxes that have been migrated to Exchange 2013.If in category view and choose collapse all, then expand just a few,go to another folder/inbox then back all categories are expanded.Seems like Outlook (2010 and 2013) doesnt remember it.
Checked in view settings - group by - expand/collapse default is set to As last viewed.
This happens to all mailboxes exept those mailboxes that are on Exchange 2010.
Exchange 2010 sp3 cu6 had an update that fixes categoryview not updated, but cant find any for Exchange 2013.
Since the update is on server,i guess this can be changed on serverside settings in Exchange 2013?
Our workaround atm is to ask users to open additional mailbox in new window, but this doesnt work well for users with 1 screen.
Are there any fix for this?
    Thanks.
Please mark as helpful if you find my contribution useful or as an answer if it does answer your question. That will encourage me - and others - to take time out to help you. Thank you! Off2work

    Hi,
There is no related category view settings in Exchange server side. I also have tested in my Outlook 2010 and Outlook 2013 with two test accounts: one for Exchange 2010 SP3 account and one for Exchange 2013 CU1 account.
Both these two accouns are working fine in . I set my Inbox folder in category view and collapse all colors except one expanded. I go to other folders(Deleted Items folder and Drafts) then go back to Inbox folder, the view is the same as last viewed without
expanding all colors. However, if I restart Outlook, the colors would be all expanded in Inbox folder.
Please make sure your Outlook is the latest version and start Outlook by running Outlook /cleanviews to restore default Outlook view to have a try.

  • Cross-forest migration to Exchange 2013 SP1 and Outlook 2013 SP1

Hello! I have two forest: Exchange 2010 SP2 RU5 - resource forest and Exchange 2013 SP1 - account forest. I make cross-forest migration from resource forest (linked mailboxes with account forest) to forest with Exchange 2013 SP1.
I have moved mailbox from resource forest exchange 2010 to exchange 2013 sp1 forest.
Outlook 2010 connect to migrated mailbox without any problem, but outlook 2013 sp1 cannot connect to migrated mailbox.
Error look like - cannot find exchange server.
I created new mailbox in Exchange 2013 organization and can connect to it with outlook 2010 and outlook 2013 sp1.
Someone have the same problem with migrated mailbox? How to solve it?
    Truly, Valery Tyurin

You can use New-MoveRequest to perform a cross-forest move. Here is a well post and step-wise explanation you can check for cross forest migration from exchange 2010 to exchange 2013(http://msexchangeguru.com/2013/11/03/e2013crossforestmigration/).
Moreover, you can try this utility (

  • Howto deploy a temporary exchange 2013 server for migration between two Office 365 accounts?

    Objective:
We plan to migrate our office 365 from our current tennant (E3) to a new tennant (M) to drastically cut our annual costs for the same services, while retaining the mail and group memberships of all our users. This will involve installing an exchange server
to download and upload mail from the old tennant to the new tennant.
    Background:
We are a longtime O365 customer, and have been a customer since before the "Midsize business" plans existed. There is no "cookie cutter" migration path from E3 to M. Microsoft currently recommends deploying an MS exchange server and off-boarding
the mailboxes from your E3 subscription and then On-boarding them to a new account under the M plan.  As ridiculous as this is, this is indeed the path our company has decided to go. It isn't cool/fair that we're being shackled to the E plans (that are
vastly more expensive) when we're a small/midsize business that has been a longtime customer of O365, while new customers of equal size to us can expect to save over $4000 annually. The services (when compared) offered are nearly identical.
After calling MS support several times for guidance for this issue, I am advised that we should contact a 'partner' and ask for their support in doing this migration. We did as requested and were provided a quote to the tune of approximately $15,000 to do this
migration for us. Obviously this is unacceptable, and thus our business has decided to rely on my abilities to get it done. Again, involving an MS partner is not an option.
    Environment:
    1 MS AD domain:
    - Original FQDN was @contoso.ca of this domain and UPNs were [email protected]
    - UPN has been changed to [email protected] to allow for ADFS
    - ADFS has been deployed and SSO works for all users with UPN [email protected]
    - An "On-Prem exchange server" does not yet exist
1 O365 Account where main tennant FQDN is @corp.com
    - There are 5 registered domains
    -contoso.ca
    -corp.com
    - contoso.legacy.ca
    -deprecated/will be deleted
    -deprecated/will be deleted
    - There are 40 E3 licenses, all using a @corp.com UPN
    - There are 5 E1 licenses (we acknowledge that these will be upgraded to an M following the migration) that use the UPN contoso.legacy.ca
    - No accounts currently use contoso.ca for email
    - O365 was upgraded to 'the latest version' sometime in summer 2013.
    Migration Plan (High Level):
Setup a local windows server (trial license)
Deploy an exchange 2013 server (trial license) on the aforementioned windows server  http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/evalcenter/hh973395.aspx
      Prepare and deploy Dirsync Deployment
    of Dirsync
Add exchange to office 365 and begin replicating the mailboxes from the cloud to the exchange server. Wait for synchronization to complete.
    More information: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh534377(v=exchg.150).aspx
    http://help.outlook.com/en-us/140/ff633682.aspx
Evaluate total time it took to sync data.
Time it takes to download data to exchange should be relatively similar to time it takes to restore mail to the new service.
Open a new office365 account under the M plan.
Plan a 1 hour mail & contoso.ca domain login outage
temporarily change all user UPN's to match the new tennant
perform a dirsync to the new tennant
disable dirsync after all accounts have been auto-created/provisioned
      re-establish UPN + mail access.
Plan a date and time for the cut over.
remove the exchange hybrid server from the old tennant.
Point MX records directly to the exchange server.
      Cut office 365 service.
After the 30 minutes ~ 1 hour 'mandatory' wait time imposed by MS to 'register' the domain with O365, add @corp.com to
    the new tennant
fix all user UPN's in the cloud to match their real UPN's.
This can be done with powershell.
attach exchange hybrid server to new tennant
Point MX records to the new tennant
Migrate all data from the local exchange server to the cloud under the new plan.
    Current progress (Lab):
I have created a sandbox (Lab with no internet access or connectivity to production) environment in VMware and cloned the following servers to it:
1x Domain Controller (DC) running windows server 2012 (named DC02)
    1x DC running windows server 2008 R2 (named DC01)
    1x windows server 2012 R2 - prepped with all the pre-requisites to install exchange 2013. (named EXC01)
Where I am stuck / Problem:
I have installed exchange on the server EXC01 in the lab environment using my account. I am a domain administrator in the contoso.ca domain, but my UPN is [email protected]
After the installation of exchange, I notice that my email address in Active Directory changed from @corp.com to @contoso.ca. By default, I do not see @corp.com to be an available email address to select as my email address, and changing it in AD does not resolve
    the problem.
In the exchange portal, I found "Mail flow ---> Accepted Domains", and believe I should add @corp.com to the accepted domain list. Questions:
    1) Must I add corp.com and the other domains that exist in office 365 to the local exchange before I go through with the hybrid wizard?
    2) If I must add them to exchange, I am provided with three choices:
    - Authoritative Domain
    - Internal Relay Domain
    - External Relay Domain
Given that the domain is currently in office365 and is authoritative there, which of these applies?
    3) Most documentation I have found has been about a one way migration from on-prem to the cloud. I have had a hard time finding a step by step guide for cloud to local (new server) and then back to cloud. Does anyone here have any good documentation for this
process? Would love it if it took into consideration multiple UPN/email addresses.

    Hi,
Here are my answers you can refer to:
    1. Yes, we should select the primary SMTP domain for our organization and any other accepted domains that will be used in the hybrid deployment:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj200787(v=exchg.150).aspx
    2. It depends on the usage of the specific accepted domain. And Exchange version has no influence.
To determine it, you can firstly check the function of the three types in the following article:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb124423(v=exchg.150).aspx
    3. Here are some reference about the migration from on-premise Exchange server to Office 365:
    http://www.msexchange.org/articles-tutorials/office-365/exchange-online/configuring-exchange-2013-hybrid-deployment-migrating-office-365-exchange-online-part1.html
Additionally, since the issue is related to Exchange online, I recommend you ask for help on our Exchange online forum to get more professional help:

  • Sending email using Exchange 2013 defined email addresses not the account email address.

Currently we are using exchange 2013. Let's say a user has a mailbox account defined that has a default email reply address of [email protected] Now I define additional email address for the same account. When the user tries to send an email he can only send from
the default email address. Is it possible to send from a defined email anndress and not the default account email address?
    Best Regards

    Not natively with Exchange.
You will need 3rd party software if you want to have only one mailbox and the ability to send as any of the proxy addresses associated with it
    Example:
    http://www.ivasoft.biz/choosefrom2007.shtml
Not sure if Exchange 2013 is supported with it yet

  • "The Microsoft Exchange Administrator has made a change that requires you quit and restart Outlook" in Exchange 2013

In Exchange 2013, Outlook finds a new connection point made up of the user’s mailbox GUID + @ + the domain portion of the user’s primary SMTP address. This change makes
it much less likely that users will see the dreaded message “Your administrator has made a change to your mailbox.”
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd298114(v=exchg.150).aspx
Although the error message in the topic has been already improved a lot in Exchange 2013, the users may still encounter them in some specific scenarios. We have collected them and let’s discuss them in this thread.
    Symptom
    =======================================
    Consider the following scenario:
Exchange 2013 was installed for a migration from Exchange 2007/2010.
The legacy Exchange server is removed after successful migration.
Exchange 2013 may be updated to Exchange 2013 SP1.
Some users were being randomly prompted with a popup in their outlook client with the following message when connecting with Exchange 2013 server:
“The Microsoft Exchange Administrator has made a change that requires you quit and restart Outlook”
    Cause
    =======================================
The issue may be caused due to Public Folders.
The msExchHomePublicMDB attribute on Exchange 2013 databases was set to deleted legacy public folder object.
    Solution
    =======================================
Removed the Public Folder from all the Exchange
2013 Databases. To do it, we can use ADSIedit.msc and remove the arrtibute - msExchHomePublicMDB from all the Databases:
    1. Open ADSIEdit.
    2. Connect to the Configuration container.3.
    Expand Configuration, expand CN=Configuration,DC=Domain,DC=com.4. Expand CN=Services -> CN=Microsoft Exchange -> CN=Domain -> CN=Administrative Groups -> CN=Exchange
Administrative Group -> CN=Databases.5. In the right hand pane you will see a list of databases.6.
Right-click the listed database object -> Properties.7. Check whether the msExchHomePublicMDB value is set to an unavailable value. If you see reference to the old database,
please clear the value.8. Click OK.9. Check the rest of the databases to make sure
that they are not populated in the same way.

  • Multiple exchange e-mail accounts in outlook 2013

Hello. I'm trying to set-up two exchange e-mail accounts in outlook 2013 (Exchange server is synchronized with Active Directory).
Once I add second account and restart outlook I get password prompt from each of the accounts. And it keeps prompting all the time and one of the accounts do not work. Could you please assist me on how to set-up those multiple exchange e-mail accounts correctly

Setup the second Exchange account in one profile would always keep prompting usernam/password. This is limitation of Outlook profile.
To work around this, I recommand that you may use the tool as below:

  • Is it possible to change what is displayed in the GAL in Exchange 2013

We have always used [email protected] for our primary email addresses, and to facilitate this someone back in the days of Exchange 2003 decided it would be sensible to use the firstname.lastname
format for our alias. This means our primary email does not match our UPN. Now, we are moving to Exchange 2013 and want to use autodiscover we find we need to change this so primary email and UPN are the same while still retaining the original email

However, this has caused some concern amongst the senior management because it changes what is displayed in the GAL, so instead of the friendly first.last name listed under alias and the just as friendly
[email protected] listed under email address it will now show the UPN as alias and
    [email protected] for email.
I have now been asked to see if it is possible to modify the details displayed in the GAL, I know you could in previous versions of Exchange using things like EMC, but I don't see any way of doing this in 2013.

  • Error when using super admin account to migrate from Communigate Pro to exchange 2013

    Hi everyone,
We are facing issues to migrate mails from communigate pro to exchange 2013 using 'MigrateIMAP.pl' tool. Communigate pro has a super-admin account which can retrieve the mails from any mailbox but when sending to Exchange 2013, there is no such super-admin

    Get-MailboxDatabase -identity “mailbox name” | Add-ADPermission -user <account name> -AccessRights GenericAll
    Get-mailbox | Add-MailboxPermission -User <account name> -AccessRights FullAccess -InheritanceType All
The tool uses the following command: (x.x.x.x is for server IPs & mytestlist contains user accounts to be migrated)
    ./migrateIMAP.pl -d -I -U -s 100 -L mylog7 -e superadmin:password\<i -S x.x.x.x -f

  • Double prompts for Exchange 2013 migrated users: "The microsoft exchange administrator has made a change that requires you to restart outlook"

I have Exchange 2010 SP3 in my environment and am migrating to Exchange 2013. Whenever a mailbox is migrated, the Outlook 2013 client will prompt the user with a "the exchange administrator has made a change that requires you to restart
Outlook". When the user does so, he or she is prompted again. After he or she closes and reopens Outlook for the second time, the issue is gone permanently.
I've seen a number of other posts about repeated prompts like this but I haven't yet found one or someone gets exactly 2 prompts for each client and no more.
A couple of pieces of information that may be relevant:
    1. On exchange 2013, the authentication method for the internal host name is NTLM
    2. I have not yet migrated public folders from Exchange 2010. I plan to do that after the mailbox migration is complete.
Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hi,
From your description, after mailboxes are moved from Exchange 2010 to Exchange 2013, users receive the following prompt when opening Outlook.
The Microsoft Exchange Administrator has made a change that requires you quit and restart Outlook.
In order to solve this issue, you need to apply the Outlook update that is described in KB 2863911.

I migrated from Exchange 2010 to 2013 over the weekend.  I cannot log into the EAC with my domain administrator account I use to log into all my other servers.  I also cannot run the clean-mailboxdatabase cmdlet logged in as this user.  I
had no trouble moving mailboxes from the old server to the new server with this account though.
This account is a member of: Domain Admins, Enterprise Admins, Exchange Full Admin, Exchange Organization Admin, Organization Management, Schema Admins, Server Management.
I can log into the EAC with another admin account that has the same memberships as the Administrator account.
I tried giving the account the role of "Databases" as suggested by others to fix the clean-mailboxdatabase issue but that did not work for me either.
The Administrator mailbox has been moved to the new database on the Exchange 2013 server.  The Exchange 2010 has been decommissioned and is turned off.

    Hi,
Based on my research, to retrieves the mailbox statistics for the disconnected mailboxes for all mailbox databases in the organization, we can try the following command:
    Get-MailboxDatabase | Get-MailboxStatistics -Filter 'DisconnectDate -ne $null'
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb124612(v=exchg.150).aspx
Additionally, The Identity parameter specifies the disconnected mailbox in the Exchange database and it can be display name instead of mailbox GUID.

    Hope it can help you.
    Thanks,
