Exchange 2013 Get-ServerHealth NotApplicable

Hi All,
I have a new installation of Exchange 2013. SCOM monitoring in place.
I'v noticed that a lot of errors showing on SCOM regarding the HealtSet is showing unhealthy.
But what is strange to me is that when I run Get-ServerHealth I see that the HealtSets that are showing as unhealthy are also in state
NotApplicable.
What does NotApplicable mean, and why is it event in unhealthy state if its not applicable?
Thanks,
Zarko

Hi,
There is no official document explaining the state "NotApplicable" currently.
To troubleshoot health set issue, here is a related blog for your reference.

  • Recreation of user mailbox from exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013

In my domain I was using Exchange 2007 earlier. I have installed Exchange 2013 successfully and running perfectly. I have one Issue:
    1. A user's mailbox in Exchange 2007 was disabled from Exchange 2007 and recreated on Exchange 2013.
When a user try to send mail from outlook be it old one(2007) or new exchange(2013), gets NDR
If user send via owa it get delivered.
    2. External mails are coming and user can send also like gmail or yahoo.
This is not an issue of cached address (outlook) I have checked this possibility.
    Any luck

    Hi,
From your description, OWA works well, the issue is related to Outlook side. In your case, I recommend you update the Address Book manually on Outlook and check the result. If the issue persists, you need to re-create the profile.
Hope this can be helpful to you.

  • Exchange 2013 - The connection to Microsoft Exchange is unavailable

    Hi there,
i have some problems on my new Exchange 2013 Server: Here is the topology:
1 serveur 2012 in workgroup with the Hyper-V role
2 VM: DC2012 is the DC of the domain: intra.mydomain.com, Windows 2012
The other VM is member of the domaine, Windows 2012, Exchange 2013 SP 1 installed.
    So, i have dc2012.intra.mydomain.com and mail1.intra.mydomain.com (another DC: DC2008, name: dc2008.intra.mydomain.com)
I have some troubles with the SSL and the connexion of Outlook outside the LAN.
In the LAN on a client, i launch Outlook 2010 and the autodiscver make the rest. The connexion is ok.
But i have a client not in the LAN, so i configured a SSL. I made a request. First Question:
In the ECP, Server, Certificate, i have 3 times "Microsoft Exchange Server Auth Certificate" and 3 times "Microsoft Exchange" with differents dates. Why?
I installed my PKI on the DC2012, and paste the request and download the certificate. I retuned on the exchange server in ECP, Server, Certificate and treat the pending request. In Services i checked IMAP, POP, IIS, SMTP.
Then, in Server, Server, Mail1, OutlookAnywhere, in url extternal: mail.mydomain.com and Authentification: NTLM.
In ECP, Servers, Virtual Directories i wrote the same url external and internal: mail.mydomain.com for ECP, OWA, ActiveSync, OAB.
In my DNS on the DC, i created a CNAME record for mydomain.com et i created a A record for mail. on a client if i make nslookup then mail.mydomain.com the IP is the LAN IP of my exchange server.
I modified the MX record of my public domain: mail.mydomain.com to point on my Public IP. That works.
On the client outside of the LAN, i installed the root certificate and the exchange certificate.
    second question:
Why my client outside of the LAN can't connext with outlook.
Thanks a lot for your answers and sorry for the long post.
    Alex

    I resolved my problem!
here is the solution that solved it:
actually, i tried to connect Outlook 2010 ti Exchange 2013. I knew that Exchange now connect Outllok via rpc over http(s), BUT, the Autodiscover (in LAN) transform the field server to something like that:
[email protected] , the xxx correspond to the GUID of the mailbox. So, for my remote user, i launch this command on Exchange 2013:
Get-Mailbox test | fl name, exchangeguid , it give to me the GUID, then in te field "Server" i fill ([email protected]): [email protected]
And in advanced parameters, same things i mentioned in previous post. And it works!!!!!
    Thanks to me.

  • Exchange 2013 outlook server name is my owa URL not hash

i was migrating from exchange 2003 to 2010 to 2013.
after the migration and i install the exchange 2013 with exchange 2010 and configured it. the outlook not working with users that migrated to exchange 2013, and working well with the users already existing on exchange 2010.
when i try to fix this issue i set my outlook provider using this commend   Set-OutlookProvider EXPR -CertPrincipalName
    "msstd:mail.mydomain.com"
but unfortunately it's impacted the server name in client outlook.
then i removed the outlook provider and create it again. but with no change. then i uninstall the CAS server and install it again but with now change too.
now the outlook server name is my URL "mail.mydomain.com" and i need to recover it to be hash like "[email protected]"
the outlook client version outlook 2010 sp2 & and outlook 2013

    Hi,
Is there any error when you connect your Exchange 2013 mailbox in Outlook? Also confirm if the problematic users can access Exchange 2013 mailbox from OWA.
Generally, Outlook uses Autodiscover service to auto setup Exchange account in Outlook. We can check the Autodiscover service in Exchange 2013 (mail.mydomain.com is pointed to Exchange 2013):
    Get-ClientAccessServer | FL Identity,fqdn,*autodiscover*
Set-OutlookAnywhere -Identity "Exch13\Rpc (Default Web Site)" -InternalHostname mail.mydomain.com -ExternalHostname mail.mydomain.com -InternalClientAuthenticationMethod Ntlm -ExternalClientAuthenticationMethod Basic -ExternalClientsRequireSsl
    $True -InternalClientsRequireSsl $true
Also make sure the name which is used in the AutoDiscoverServiceInternalUri has been included in your Exchange certificate with
IIS service. We can restart IIS service by running IISReset /noforce from a Command Prompt window.

  • Exchange 2013 CU5 , Exchange Power Shell very very very slow reasponse when using get command.

Exchange 2013 CU5 , Exchange Power Shell very very very slow reasponse when using get command.
First my organize has Exchange on 2 site like
    site A (internet facing) : 2CAS 2 MB all are Services pack1
site B (DR Site , no user active on this site) : 2CAS 2MB all are Services pack 1
so today I upgrade Exchange 2013 from SP1 to CU5 start on "site B" and I found this issue and the details is....
When I open EMS on any CU5 for query something (like get-mailboxdatabasecopystatus) the response return very slow and some query will not return at all (like get-owavirtualdirectory).
But If I using EMS on SP1. Everything is ok then I try to use EMS on SP1 connect to CU5 and try to query something. the result is
some query command cannot return for any result that are server on siteB (just some query command)
    Problem
EMS on CU5 return very slow result.
    EMS on SP1 still ok.
Does anyone face this problem before for CU5??? Please help me figure this out. Thank you
    reply from Social.technet

    Hi,
Have you used the above cmdlets to check your Exchange server health?
"all other command that I ran on EMS didn't logged on event viewer.", my environment is the same with you. I use Exchange 2013, only errors will be displayed in MSExchange Management. Actually, it is not related to slow EMS response.
    Hope it helps.

  • Can't get OWA to work on Essentials 2012 R2 with Exchange 2013 on second server 2012 R2 std.

I have previously with success setup a working solution with server 2012 essentials, and a second server 2012 std. with exchange 2013, I did it following this guide: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj200172.aspx
Unfortunately I lost the server due to a cooling error which led to an un-repairable essentials 2012, since this was a new setup and also a test setup I didn't have any working backup solution setup at the time...tsk.tsk.
Since I had to make a complete do over I chose to try out the new R2 server editions, and set it up following the same guide, when it came to this part:
Download KB2732764 for ARR 2.5, and then install the update on the server that is running Windows Server 2012 Essentials.
Copy the SSL certificate file for Exchange Server to the server that is running Windows Server 2012 Essentials. The certificate file must contain the private key, and it must be in the PFX file format.
    Note
If you are using a self-issued certificate, follow the instruction in the Exchange Server article Export an Exchange Certificate to export the certificate.
Open a command window as an administrator, and then open the %ProgramFiles%\Windows Server\Bin directory.
Based on you installation scenario, follow one of these steps to configure ARR:
If you are performing a clean setup, run the following command:
ARRConfig config –cert “path to the certificate file” –hostnames “host names for Exchange Server”
I noticed that the version of "Application request routing" had changed to version 3, so obviously I didn't need to dl the 2.5 update.. When I came to the part where I wa instructed to run arrconfig config etc. I noticed
that the ARRconfig file no longer where placed where the setup guide indicated, I then went ahead and tried som manual configuration regarding certificates and such. In the end I have a working solution where Exchange and OWA is working locally but OWA isn't
working outside my local domain, the link get's placed in the RWA and is indicating the correct link for the exchange server www.remote.clinten.dk I have a certificate which include to separate domain names aforementioned and remote.clinten.dk and
I get no errors indicating certificate errors, when I try to connect to www.remote.clinten.dk/owa from outside I get a 404 error, and when I connect to www.remote.clinten.dk I get the RWA login screen for the essentials RWA. Obviously I need to set up something
in ISS probably in the url rewrite section, but I can't seem to find the right setting.. Can someone help with this?
Btw. I have found the missing arrconfig file in c:\windows\system32\essentials" and tried to run the command as described in the guide "ARRConfig config –cert “path to the certificate file” –hostnames “host
names for Exchange Server”" but it doesn't seem to work, it just prompts with a guide for using the arrconfig command and examples of correct use, I also tried removing the "" from the guide, like this "ARRConfig
config –cert path to the certificate file –hostnames host names for Exchange Server",
when I ran it without the "" It didn't prompt me with anything nor did It indicate any errors, it did not however make my OWA work either..
I am aware that exchange 2013 atm. isn't officially supported on the R2 server, but the exchange works fine inside my domain, and the pop3/smtp also works from outside, since this Is a test environment, using only my own private domain and not a company
domain I figured it would be ok to run the risk.. ;)

"Ok just an update for anyone else how has this issue.
The problem has been solved by Microsoft and I have included their findings below, but basically it comes down to a typo!
I often use notepad to have all the commands I need on hand, and I must have copied the command direct from the TechNet article or other website and customised the required fields. The issue with this is one of the characters did not “convert” - for want
of a better word. I should have retyped the whole command from scratch and it would have been right!
Thanks for everyone’s input and for Microsoft for getting to the bottom of it.
    From Microsoft:
We have tested on your environment and here is the investigation result from our senior engineer:
    ================================================================
Basically the command fails due to invalid parameter, the invalid one is the ‘-‘. I think the one customer used is copied from the online document sample which translate to the unicode is 0x8211 means “en dash”, it
can’t be input by normal keyboard, so I pretty sure it is from web (mostly HTML document).
The one we check (compare) is ‘-‘ which has the code 0x45.
So it always failed to compare the parameter and ARRconfig.exe thought it is invalid parameter.
The solution is quite simple, just using keyboard to retype the command, using normal ‘-‘ and I have tried the password prompt shows

I was installing Exchange 2013 on Server 2012.  The server is not a DC, but is a member of a domain with a 2008 R2 functional level, and I was logged in as a domain admin.  There has never been an Exchange instance on this domain.  I got past
the prerequisite checks, and the installer showed 15 steps, so I walked away.  When I came back, I saw this:
Step 8 of 15: Mailbox role: Transport service
    Error:
    The following error was generated when "$error.Clear();

    Hi Deepak,
From the error description, I would like to clarify the following things:
    1. Please ensure that IPv6 on the network adaptor is turned on.
    2. Please check if the account that you used to install Exchange has necessary permissions to perform the installation.
    3. Make sure that DNS is configured correctly.
    Hope my clarification is helpful.
If there are any problems, please feel free to let me know.

  • New Exchange 2013 SP1 install, can't get ECP to display

    Hi all,
I stood up a new exchange 2013 environment in my lab running on Server 2012.  Everything looks like it should be working.  All services running, no errors in the event log, I'm able to get into ECS.  When I try and launch the ECP, it spins
for a little bit then I get a page can't be displayed.  I've checked that exchange sees it:
I'm stumped.  I've been scouring forums and can't pinpoint the issue.  I know I could just blow my lab away and try to re-install from scratch but I'm so close to getting this stood up and don't want to just give up.  Plus, I'm curious as
to what the cause is and how it's tied into Exchange functionality.
Also, when I try to browse to OWA, the page can't be displayed as well.  I've tried to disable Enhanced IE security to no avail.
    Any suggestions are appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
Please use the https://localhost/ecp URL to logon from the local CAS server and check if you can access EAC.
What's more, I have a test in my environment using Exchange 2013, when I use
https://exc2013cas.contoso.com/ecp to logon EAC, the same error occurs. But when I use
https://exc2013cas/ecp to logon, EAC works well. In your case, I recommend you use the
https://skunkms1/ecp URL to logon EAC and check the result.
Hope this can be helpful to you.

  • Outlook 2011 for Mac users must click send/receive to get new mail from exchange 2013 server

I recently switched our primary CAS servers over from a single exchange 2010 cas/mailbox/hub server to a couple new exchange 2013 CAS/Mailbox servers.  Exchange 2013 has cu3, and is hosted on windows server 2012.  Anyone who has their mailbox hosted
on one of these exchange 2013 servers has an issue where they must click the send/receive button to get new messages downloaded to their client. This is only the case for outlook 2011 for mac client.  Activesync clients, mac mail, OWA, and Outlook 2010/13
    all behave normally.
Where can I look or what can I check to troubleshoot this issue?

  • Exchange 2013 remote session running as PowerShell version 2.0. How can I get it to run version 3.0?

I'm trying to use the newer Powershell 3.0 features, particularly the ability to disconnect/reconnect a remote session, for our Exchange 2013 administration tools.  I have 3.0 on my workstation, and am connecting to a remote session on an Exchange 2013

I still can't get it to work that way. I changed my cfexecute to:
    <cfexecute name="C:\windows\system32\cmd.exe" arguments="/c C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\captcha\#cmd_filename#" outputFile="C:\testoutput.txt" timeout = "90"></cfexecute>
And I changed my bat file to have:
    <cfsavecontent variable="cmd_content">
    cd\
    TSC.exe /s "#newString#" C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\captcha\#FileName# Mary (for Telephone)
    </cfsavecontent>
    The output file is showing:
    C:\ColdFusion9\runtime\bin>cd\
    C:\>TSC.exe /s "3.....P.....4.....Z.....8.....U.....7.....X....." C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\captcha\3P4Z8U7X-105724.wav Mary (for Telephone)
I still can't get it to run the exe. I have watched the process list while running this and the exe doesn't show up. I tried cfexecute on the exe directly before trying the bat method, with hard coded arguments, and it still didn't work. I am so lost right now this makes no sense to me.

    Hello,
    Please see below:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb125022(v=exchg.150).aspx#RatesAndVelocity
Exchange 2013 measures the rate of messages entering and leaving a queue and stores these values in queue properties. You can use these rates as an indicator of queue and transport server health. The properties are:
IncomingRate   This property is the rate that messages are entering the queue.
This value is calculated from the number of messages entering the queue every 5 seconds averaged over the last 60 seconds. The formula can be expressed as (i1+i2+i3+i4+i5+i6)/6,
where in = the number of incoming messages in 5 seconds.
OutgoingRate   This property is the rate that messages are leaving the queue.
This value is calculated from the number of messages leaving the queue every 5 seconds averaged over the last 60 seconds. The formula can be expressed as (o1+o2+o3+o4+o5+o6)/6,
where on = the number of outgoing messages in 5 seconds.
Velocity   This property is the drain rate of the queue, and is calculated by subtracting the value of IncomingRate from the value
    ofOutgoingRate.
If the value of Velocity is greater than 0, messages are leaving the queue faster than they are entering the queue.
If the value of Velocity is equals 0, messages are leaving the queue as fast as they are entering the queue. This is also the value you'll see when the queue is inactive.
If the value of Velocity is less than 0, messages are entering the queue faster than they are leaving the queue.
At a basic level, a positive value of Velocity indicates a healthy queue that's efficiently draining, and a negative value of Velocity indicates a queue that isn't efficiently draining. However, you also
need to consider the values of the IncomingRate, OutgoingRate, and MessageCount properties, as well as the magnitude of the Velocity value for the queue. For
example, a queue that has a large negative value of Velocity, a largeMessageCount value, a small OutgoingRate value, and a large IncominRate value are accurate
indicators that the queue isn't draining properly. However, a queue with a negative Velocity value that's very close to zero that also has very small values for IncomingRate, OutgoingRate,
andMessageCount doesn't indicate a problem with the queue.

Issue the following commands and getting the following error.
    $mailbox = Get-Mailbox -Identity testuser$mailbox.EmailAddresses -= "eum:50004;phone-context=telExt5digits.lync5.com"Then getting the following error:Method invocation failed because [System.Collections.ArrayList] doesn't contain a method named 'op_Subtraction'.
    At line:1 char:27
    + $mailbox.EmailAddresses -= <<<<  "eum:50004;phone-context=telExt5digits.lync5.com"
        + CategoryInfo          : InvalidOperation: (op_Subtraction:String) [], RuntimeException
        + FullyQualifiedErrorId : MethodNotFoundHelp!

Now for an answer - your remote session doesn't have the same object you have on the server itself.  Notice it says this is an array list, not a ProxyAddressCollection.  If you need to work around this, you'll need to massage the addresses another
way that the system will accept.  I'd try the following:
    $NewAddresses = $mailboxEmailAddresses | ? { $_ -notlike "eum:50004;phone-context=telExt5digits.lync5.com" }
See what you get in the $NewAddresses variable when you do this.

  • Exchange 2013 Shared Mailbox Get-MailboxSentItemsConfiguration SP1 Help

    Hello
    My Setup
    Server1: Server 2012 Standard + Exchange 2013 CU2 Standard (MBX+CAS)
    Server2: Server 2012 Standard + Exchange 2013 CU2 Standard (MBX+CAS)
    DAG Enable
I am having problems with Shared mailboxes, when sending E-mail from the Shared mailbox the sent E-mail will show up in the recipients Sent Items insted of the Shared mailbox sent Items.
I know that in Exchange 2010 Later SP and RU there where a PowerShell command that could send a copy to the Shared mailbox Sent Items (Get-MailboxSentItemsConfiguration)
but it doesn't seem to be there anymore, does anyone know if the cmdlet is back in CU3 or SP1? will it come back?
there is a workaround (Registry) but it doesn't help us, not for our environment.
Can I set this up by Outlook rules or maybe some kind of forwarding?
If you have any experience with this, feel free to give some advice.
    Thank You very much!

    Hi,
*.MailboxSentItemsConfiguration has not been brought back in CU3 or CU4/SP1 and I don't know if it ever will be.
If DelegateSentItemsStyle configured in the registry is not an option for you, then using multiple Exchange accounts in the same Outlook Profile might be. The support for that was added in Outlook 2010 and personally, I like that option a lot.

  • Exchange 2013, deleted user, then re add user and getting NDR 550 5.1.1.

Hello, We unfortunately deleted several users through Exchange 2013 ECP. We readded the user ID's but are now getting
    IMCEAEX-_o=xxxxxxxxx+20xxxxxxx_ou=Exchange+20Administrative+20Group+20+28FYDIBOHF23SPDLT+29_cn=Recipients_cn=[email protected]
Remote Server returned '550 5.1.1 RESOLVER.ADR.ExRecipNotFound; not found'
I believe this has to do with LegacyExchangeDN X.500 address.  But I cannot seem to get this to work correctly.   Only internal email addresses cannot email this user, external mail to this account works fine.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Matthew

    IMCEAEX-_o=xxxxxxxxx+20xxxxxxx_ou=Exchange+20Administrative+20Group+20+28FYDIBOHF23SPDLT+29_cn=Recipients_cn=[email protected]
    That translates to:
    /o=xxxxxx xxxxxxx/ou=Exchange Administrative Group (FYDIBOHF23SPDLT)/cn=Recipients/cn=1f6713d4dc804e138e7e6210432390e5-Derek Yee
...and when you add it in ECP, the type should be X500 as Andy wrote and not X.500. Don't know why ECP says that the address can be X.500, cause that is wrong.

  • Getting EOP to send mail to On premises Exchange 2013

one of may clients has Office 365 Enterprise E1 for Nonprofits and on premise exchange 2013 server which I'm trying to implement the EOP service.
but i cannot get the exchange online outbound connector to forward on the emails to the on premise server.
i have active directory sync working.
i.e when i add a new user on premises it creates it online.
could anybody let me know how to get this service to work.
    what i would like is
1 mx record to point to eop service and collect and filter email.
(which i have done by adding mx records as per dns instructions. checks show as fine.but changed back to on premises server because emails where only staying in online inbox. the on premises domain name has been setup within office 365 as default domain and
in accepted domains within exchange online.both exchange online and on premises default domain name our the same.)
2 filter mail to be forwarded to correct mail box to on premises server.
( which i have setup outbound connector with exchange online to point to our on premises exchange server but does not receive any emails they are received in office 365 online mailbox and not forwarded on)
3 on premises server to forward mail to EOP service
( which i have done by creating inbound connector in exchange online and adding it as smart host to on premises outbound connector and appears to be working fine.)
    am i missing something?
any help would be gratefully appreciated
    Many Thanks
