    Hi Jeff,
    Thank you for your question.
There are many logs we could enable it for our troubleshooting, for example:
Transport logs included agent log, connectivity log, protocol log and so on, we could refer to the following link:

  • Exchange 2013 Issue: Outlook 2010 auto populating the From Tab when forwarding email

Exchange 2013 Issue: Outlook 2010 auto populating the From Tab when forwarding email
I am running Exchange 2013 and I have an end user who connects to it via Outlook 2010. All was going well till he went to forward an email and he noticed that the From button appeared and auto populated the sender's email address.
I have clicked the Empty Auto Complete List in Outlook's Send messages... still displayed the From tab when forwarding.
I recreated the profile in outlook... same thing.
I created the profile with outlook 2013... same thing.
There is only one user profile setup in Outlook.
(I know the from tab usually appears when you have multiple profiles setup in Outlook and/or when you configure the "From" tab.)
I opened the end user's email in Exch 2013's OWA... what was different here was when I clicked on the email and it opened, it did NOT have the Reply or Forward option... and it displayed as a "Draft" email.
    Does anyone have any ideas?

So are you saying that the from button is filling the option with the original senders address (eg the person who sent the message to your user), or that it's filling in the your users address (in which case I don't understand what the issue is, since
it IS going from your user)?

  • Exchange 2013 DCOM Event ID 10028

I am running two virtual Exchange 2013 Std servers (CAS and MBX on both) on Server 2012 Std in two different sites (no DAG...yet). When connecting from EX01 through ECP or EMS and I try to retrieve configuration for something from the other server (EX02)

This error can be repeatedly triggered with no problem. If I'm on EX01 on EMS and run:
    Get-OWAVirtualDirectory -Server EX02
it will take nearly 4 minutes before I get the details and the System Event ID 10028 DistributedCOM will appear on EX01. Same occurs if I reverse the process from EX02. I have turned off the Windows Firewall to see if that makes a difference - no change.
I have remove AV from both servers - no change.
    Any ideas will be appreciated.
    ~Rick

Having the same setup and running in the same problem. Remote-Powershell doesn't work properly. Any remote query needs minutes.
Two Exchange Server 2013 STD on Windows Server 2012, both with MBX & CAS (no DAG), placed in two different sites. CU2 is installed, the system is fully patched. The sites are connected over a IPSec-Tunnel with a acceptable RTT of 50 to 150ms. The Firewall
in between is open for the whole Servernetwork-Segments. The local Windows Firewall is deactivated by GPO. I can portping all needed ports (TCP/80,443,5985) on remote system with success. AutoDiscover is working properly, the Test-Outlook-Clients can connect
automatically to the server, in each site localy. Im using on both servers SAN-Certificates, created on the internal MS-CA. The external part does not exist until now, but there will be a reverse proxy (netscaler) with the official SAN-Certificate, on both
    sites with separate internet access.
Another issue is very strange and I don't understand what causes that behavior: The administrators mailbox is on SRV1. When I connect to ECP over "https://fqdnOfSRV1/ECP/" works perfect. But when I connect over "https://fqdnOfSRV2/ECP/" to the same mailbox,
which is on SRV1, the IIS redirects me to the WebApp of administrator. I did test it inverse and using a administrator2 account, which is on a DB on SRV2. Same issue when I connect over SRV1.
I have much more issues and hope some of them will be addressed with CU3.
Did you have any update on this case?
    Regards
    Patrick

Services seem to be fine but i do have a group of users that complain that their outlook 2013 email clients will go non-responsive a few times a days. Wondering if this is related. Also this error is appearing every few minutes. Anyone else experiencing
    this?

    Hi,
I would like to add some information to this, in case others are facing the same circumstance. I too received the same errors on my Exchange 2013 CU5 and CU6 servers mentioned above. I ended up calling Microsoft Premiere support because there was a very
large impact in our environment as we had Outlook 2010 clients that were having Exchange 2013 connectivity issues. Long story short, since Outlook 2010 was trying to use RPC to connect to the Exchange 2013 servers and in the Event Viewer we were seeing the
4999 Event ID multiple times per minute, RPC was crashing on the Exchange servers resulting in client connectivity issues.
Microsoft ran a ProcDump on the PID for RPC crash and basically came back with nothing only saying that it was a result of someone uploading a picture via Lync that was either corrupt or too large cause the photo store to crash the RPC Service. They also
were firm in saying that this should have no impact. I was not convinced because this happened after installing CU5 and the client connectivity issues also appeared in conjunction with these 4999 RPC errors. In my mind that is a bug and I asked that something
be published to address this as it seems silly that one user uploading a Lync profile picture could cripple our environment.
You would need to navigate to the following location to see this Photo Store. (D:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V15\ClientAccess\photos) Change the path to point to your local Exchange install instance. Most of the files in my location are 0K but
there are a few that are 4K so it seems they are not large enough to affect anything. We have 4 CAS+MBX servers so I looked at all 4 servers.
What I ended up doing to resolve the 4999 event ID which actually ended up fixing my client connectivity issues also was to edit the following file. "D:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V15\Bin\Microsoft.Exchange.RpcClientAccess.Service.exe.config"
Back the above file up and when you open it scroll about 3/4 to 7/8 of the way down and find the following lines:
<!-- Enables retrieval of the HD photo in DOMT. -->
        <add key="HDPhotoEnabled" value="true" />
Set the line to "false" like so:
<!-- Enables retrieval of the HD photo in DOMT. -->
        <add key="HDPhotoEnabled" value="false" />
Then restart the Microsoft Exchange RPC Client Access service and refresh the Event Viewer and the 4999 errors should stop and client connectivity should be restored.
I noticed this error with CU5 and then subsequently after I installed CU6, so I had to perform this change after I installed CU6 and probably do the same once CU7 comes out. I do not know the adverse effects of making this change as Microsoft really could
not explain more than what I wrote above, but I had to get Outlook connectivity restored and this was my only option. It appears that Lync 2010 photos and Outlook 2010 photos stayed intact so no users were complaining that their self-uploaded profile pictures
were gone. We never had this problem with Outlook 2013 SP1 as we have MAPI enabled and the crashing RPC service would not have effected those clients. OWA was also working just fine.
Hopefully Microsoft can offer me more of an explanation as I ended up fixing my own issue but I raised concern with how this happened. I hope this helps someone else as it helped me.
    Thanks.
    Alan

  • Need help regarding the location of Exchange 2013 Logs for parsing

Hi, I am trying to create reports based on the logs that are created on my exchange server. I am using
exchange 2013. My problem is that I cannot handle every log, and instead want specific types of logs.
I need help finding the specific locations of the following types of logs (If they even exist), so that I can parse them and use them effectively:
Audit Logs (Mailbox logons, Mailbox permission changes, Mailbox property changes,
    Exchange store changes)
Mail Report Logs (Mailbox size and growth, Mailbox storage growth, Enabled users, Expired and Soon-to-Expire Mailboxes)
Exchange Traffic Reports (Details on size and amount of messages sent and recieved, Internet traffic [to and from], Traffic between exchange users)
I understand this might sound like a huge undertaking, but any help that can be provided would be appreciated.
Again, I need information on the locations of these types of logs on the exchange server, so that I can parse them. Collecting them all and searching through them is not practical for my available resources.
    Thanks,
    Matt

Audit Logs (Mailbox logons, Mailbox permission
    changes, Mailbox property changes, Exchange
store changes) ---- these are two type of logs, 1. mailbox audit logs and that is stored in each mailbox under dumpster
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff461930(v=exchg.150).aspx however you need to
    enable
it for individual mailboxes... 2. admin audit log, this is stored into a system mailbox dumpster.... http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd335052(v=exchg.141).aspx
Mail Report Logs (Mailbox size and growth, Mailbox
storage growth, Enabled users, Expired and Soon-to-Expire Mailboxes) ---- there isn't any specific log for this, you would need to create some time of script to collect this every day for you and store it somewhere... This is a good start... http://www.stevieg.org/2011/06/exchange-environment-report/
Exchange Traffic Reports (Details on size and
amount of messages sent and recieved, Internet traffic [to and from], Traffic between exchange users) ----- This you can get from message tracking log... http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb124375(v=exchg.150).aspx

    Please advise

This is by design due to the architectural changes in the product. However have seen cases where it caused issues. you can:
Move Logging folders to another drive in Exchange 2013 via Powershell:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/22479.move-logging-in-exchange-2013-via-powershell.aspx
Or alternatively you can disable some of the tasks under Windows\PLA in the Task Scheduler Manager.
You can also do a clean-upand delete some of the files older than a specified day.
    Get-ChildItem 'C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V15\Logging','C:\inetpub\logs' -Directory | get-childitem -Include '*.log' -Recurse | ? LastWriteTime -lt (Get-Date).AddDays(-XX) | Remove-Item

  • RE: Exchange 2013 log

    Hi,
In Exchange 2013 environment, can we check if a message was sent from phone or computer? or can any log display sender's ip address?
    Thanks,
    Edmond

If you look at the messages in the SentItems folder of the Mailbox then you can use the  x-ms-exchange-organization-originalclientipaddress property to get the IPAddress of the sending client eg here's one example of using that http://gsexdev.blogspot.com.au/2012/10/geolocating-users-last-send-location.html
Depending on the type of phone being used sometimes they will leave tell tale marks eg my Samsung phone always set the MessageId to <[email protected]>
    but this is device dependant.
    Cheers

  • Exchange 2013 CU6 event id 1003

Installed cu6, after that OWA and ECP stopped to work, with a redirection loop, when I check my eventlogs I see thousands of this error message:
RpcHttp] An internal server error occurred. The unhandled exception was: System.MissingMethodException: Method not found: 'System.String Microsoft.Exchange.Security.Authentication.IIdentityExtensions.GetSafeName(System.Security.Principal.IIdentity)'.

at Microsoft.Exchange.Common.IL.ILUtil.DoTryFilterCatch(TryDelegate tryDelegate, FilterDelegate filterDelegate, CatchDelegate catchDelegate)
Cant find a workaround, anyone else seen this error?

    Maybe this can help someone.

Replaced SharedWebConfig files under the location "V15\FrontEnd\HttpProxy"

Added the missing permission on Exchange Back End Web Site by comparing the same with our lab

    On IIS
    è Exchange Back End
    è Changed Physical Path
    è it to "V15\ClientAccess"

Still after which we couldn’t browse OWA under Exchange Back End using Port 444 but found that ECP works fine

Replaced the SharedWebConfig file from working Exchange 2013 CU6 under the location "V15\ClientAccess"

    Ran IISReset

Confirmed that OWA and other virtual directories as well started working fine without any issues

  • Zenwsimp.log is huge, errors repeating many times per second

    Newly installed NW 5.1 SP6 server running ZFD 4.01 ir5 - I know, it's all
old stuff, but it's the same as 6 or 8 other production servers we haven't
had time to upgrade yet, and we didn't expect a new one would cause problems.
After about a month of well-behaved operation, the server started to
routinely hit 90%+ utilization every couple of days...
Finally caught it red-handed - was the jave workstation import process
thread owned 90% of all the systems threads. Killed that process, and the
    system settled right down.
The TID's I've found say the error that is filling up the log, namely
"Could not remove container attribute value.", is quote> innocuous <quote.
Its the only error I've found in the huge log file so far, it is anything
but innocuous. Repeating over and over 20 to 30 times per second.
The zenwsimp.log file is nearly 1 GIG in size. The server was basically
ignoring everything trying to update the giant log file.
The tids also said to check the log for a workstation sending corrupt
inventory information about the time the problem occurs. Just trying to
read the log at the 1 gig file size is proving to be a challenge by itself.
Typing it to the screen from a dos prompt is the only way I've been able
to open it so far, at least with my 1GIG of RAM laptop system. Notepad and
Write either error out or croak trying to load the log data. Typing it to
the screen is the only way I've got to look at it, and after 15 minutes,
it's still running, repeating nothing but that error message.
I tweaked the startup ncf files to prevent the workstation import function
from even loading until a solution can be found, rebooted the server, and
all seems to be behaving since then. But after scouring the support site,
I haven't seen anything to give me any other clues about what to do.
Sure would appreciate some pointers or suggestions.

  • Exchange 2013, a distribution group within a distribution group is not receiving emails.

Here's the explanation of what's going on:
"A" is an internal distribution group containing other internal contacts, and internal distribution groups "B" and "C". "B" is a working distribution group that contains all internal contacts. "C" contains all
external contacts, who will successfully receive emails sent directly to "C". The problem is, when you send an email to "A", everyone in "B" receives the email, but no one in "C" does. "C" is set to receive
emails from external sources and has correct SMTP settings as far as I can tell.
Is this problem related to the fact that "C" is full of external contacts? Is there a setting I'm missing somewhere that will allow "C" to receive emails sent to "A"?
Edit: Group "C" can not receive emails at all.

Sorry, i meant does the mailbox you are sending the email FROM have permission to send emails TO external email address?
Our exchange server is set up so that certain people can only email internal addresses. This is configured in the ECP under Mail Flow - Rules, and is basically configured to state that anyone within the AD group "internal only" to reject the message and
provide the explanation "you are not allowed to email externally".
If the mailbox you are sending the mail from is not permitted to email external contacts, it wont work.
It can be tested by emailing one of the addresses in Group C individually.

  • Photoshop CC 2014 Extension - CEP Event callback is triggered multiple times per single event

Trying to make my extensions listen for bunch of events and it's turning out to be a real pain in the ***.
I'm hoping there's someone here who has a bit more experience playing around with these.
    I used the example code from here ( Page 43 ): http://wwwimages.adobe.com/content/dam/Adobe/en/devnet/creativesuite/pdfs/CC14_Extension_S DK.pdf
I've modified the code just a little. I removed some unnecessary things from it. I also added a counter, to try to visualize the issue.
Every time I pasted the code here, the global variable seemed to duplicate. So, eeeeh...  the example code can be found here.
    The problem is:
I close one document to trigger the event, but for some reason the callback seems to run multiple times.
Even better, it doesn't seem to be super consistent about it. Sometimes it repeats only couple of times and sometimes it repeats 160 times.
It seems like every time the extension panel is reopened, it comes up with a new number.
Currently, if I close a document, it seems to trigger the callback 15 times
Since this is screenshot, you'll have to take my word for it. I only closed a single document and the code ran 15 times.
Am I doing something wrong by any chance?
    edit:
I believe I just found out the reason and a way to recreate the issue.
I've occasionally tested the extension by closing and opening the panel, which seems to have caused the issue.
It looks like every time I close and then open the panel, it... adds one more run time to the stack.
    - Refreshing the panel from chrome doesn't seem to affect it.
When I restart photoshop, it resets. So after the very first opening of the panel, the event triggers the callback only once.
I forgot to mention that the host application events work just fine without these issues.
In fact, I tried to use documentAfterActivate before, but as far as I could find, there is no way to kind of filter out specific events within host application events.
For instance, I can't specify something different to happen when a new document is opened.
As very much a side note:
documentAfterActivate has its own side effect due to the way photoshop works.
    It is triggered when you:
    Create a new document
    Open a new document
    Switch to an open document
It's the "Switch to an open document" part that makes this event listener also trigger when you close a document.
Because when you close a document, photoshop switches back to the previous document and that in turn triggers the event listener when it shouldn't, I suppose.
Of course it doesn't trigger the event when you close the last document as there is no document to switch to at that point.
...but this is beyond the scope of the original question.

I was so tired last night that when I found out the cause of it, I never even thought about unregistering...
I decided to unregister it when the panel is opened instead.
This does indeed get rid of the issue.
    Thanks, cbuliarca.

        public void popupMenuWillBecomeVisible(PopupMenuEvent evt) {}
}This code is supposed to handle a single selection from a JComboBox webAddressBox. The front-end functionality of this code blocks works just fine to the user, however, upon viewing the "behind the scenes action", I noticed that the overriden popupMenuWillBecomeInvisible() method within the anonymous inner class instance of PopupAdapter is being called 2 times upon the first time you select something from webAddressBox, 4 times the next time you select something, 8 times the next time, and so on..
Obviously this is a tremendous waste of resources to have it call that many times exponentially - it should only call once each time you select something from webAddressBox, but I can't figure out how to get that to happen.
What suggestions might you have to accomplish this? I already have an ActionListener that runs separately from PopupMenuAdapter that handles the user either clicking a JButton or hitting ENTER - this works just fine.
    Thanx
    Phil

is being called 2 times upon the first time youselect something from
webAddressBox, 4 times the next time you selectsomething, 8 times the next time, and so on..
Then you are adding the listener to the component
    multiple times.WTO sigh.. thanx! :)

  • After upgrading to firefox 4.0, why does it have to update atleast daily, sometimes several times a day

I cant help but notice the security updates on a daily basis because it stops whatever Im doing to download the update, like I said it happens on some days several times. I click to download & the screen never goes away. It downloads & states in order to install them it must re-start. I do then on most occasions after it comes back up it states its connecting again to the server for additional updates. by then I upset when it wants to download again.

    Please do the following.<br><br>
#Go to [http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/fx/?ref=logo Download Firefox 4.0.1] and download the installation file to your desktop.<br><br>
#Then go to Add/Remove Programs, scroll down to "Mozilla Firefox" and remove it, choosing to keep your bookmarks, customizations etc., (''don't checkmark the box'').<br><br>
#Then reboot and delete the folder called "Mozilla Firefox" at this location: C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox<br><br>
#Finally run the installation file you downloaded to the desktop earlier.<br>
Your bookmarks, customizations etc., are maintained in a different location and will become available to you again once you complete the installation.<br><br>
After you complete the installation, go to the [http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/plugincheck/ Plugins Check] page and update where necessary.

  • Exchange Server 2013 Logs Out of Control

I have a fairly new install of Exchange Server 2013 running in full production. Everything has been great except for the high level of log files that are generated on a daily basis. I am able to truncate the Transaction logs everyday with a Server Backup,
but that still does not help me with the other constantly growing log files in C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V15\Logging. Is there any way to set these to automatically purge after a set amount of days? I have found resources that discuss setting
up a powershell script that will delete everything after a set amount of days, but I want to know if anything in Exchange 2013 will allow me to do this. I am getting tired of expanding my VM disk. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately Exchange 2013 creates alot of log files that it does not clean up on it's own.  While there isn't a way to tell Exchange to clean up the files after X number of days, there is a very helpful script someone else has already written that does
the work for you. He has 2 versions, 1 that you have to put on each individual server (I like that one in case I lose the server I put the script on) or 1 that you can run on 1 server that takes care of all of your Exchange Servers.
