Exchange 2013 recipient filter working bad

Hello,
I have seen, that the recipient filter in Exchange 2013 is working a Little bit different like in the older Versions.
Here an Example (Exchange 2013):
<<<220 EX2013.test.local Microsoft ESMTP MAIL Service ready at .....
>>>helo test
<<<250 EX2013.test.local Hello [192.168.0.10]
>>>mail from:[email protected]
<<<250 2.1.0 Sender OK
>>>rcpt to:[email protected]
<<<250 2.1.5 Recipient OK
>>>data
<<<354 Start mail input; end with <CRLF>.<CRLF>
>>>Subject: Test2
>>>
>>>Test2
>>>.
<<<550 5.1.1 User unknown
All other pervious Versions of Exchange 2003, 2007, 2010 are working different:
Look here (Exchange 2010):
<<<220 ex2010.test.local Microsoft ESMTP MAIL Service ready at ...
>>>helo helo test
<<<250 xxxxxxx Hello [192.168.0.20]
>>>mail from:[email protected]
<<<250 2.1.0 Sender OK
>>>rcpt to:<[email protected]>
<<<250 2.1.5 Recipient OK
>>>rcpt to:<[email protected]>
<<<550 5.1.1 Invalid RecipientThis is very simple and more effectiv than the other Strategie, because I won't have data inhouse and then the server decide, if recipient are valid, there is no reason to change this.
Thank you for a help
Bernd

Hi,
I noticed that the issue happened when you released quarantined messages to their intended recipients by using the Send Again feature in Microsoft Outlook.
Does the issue happen to all quarantined mailboxes. Please confirm if the messages have been sent to the intended recipients successfully or sent failed with NDR returned because of the wrong email address.
Please try to
disable the mailbox quarantine then enable to check whether the issue persists. Also make sure there is no third-party program installed in Exchange server and local machine for quarantine mailboxes.

  • Exchange 2013 ActiveSync not working

    Hello everyone,
We seem to be having problems with our ActiveSync not working anymore. Users with mobile devices can not access their mailboxes. We have checked just about every setting and the IIS logs and can't find an answer to this issue. Microsoft's Remote Connectivity
Analyzer shows the following error which we can not find an answer for anywhere.
An ActiveSync session is being attempted with the server.
Errors were encountered while testing the Exchange ActiveSync session.
        Test Steps
Attempting to send the OPTIONS command to the server.
Testing of the OPTIONS command failed. For more information, see Additional Details.
        Additional Details
A Web exception occurred because an HTTP 400 - BadRequest response was received from IIS7.
    Thanks!

    Hi,
Did you ever find a solution to your problem?  I have exactly the same problem with a fresh install of exchange 2013.  Can access mailboxes via outlook 2010 and owa but can't connect any mobile device.  I'm stumped...
a 400 IIS Bad Request error indicates token bloat. Are you proxying to 2010 mailboxes?
The usual fix is to set the following reg keys on the CAS receiving the requests following the first step described in this article that is similar:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2491354
Create the following registry keys on all CAS servers (both Exchange Server 2007 CAS servers and Exchange Server 2010 SP1 CAS servers) in the Active Directory site:
    Path: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\HTTP\Parameters
    Name: MaxFieldLength

  • Exchange 2013 Content filter agent quarantined message: wrong address appears when I click "Send Again"

    Hello,
This is a strange one. I have Exchange 2013 and outlook 2013 and I have been using the content filter agent as a layer of spam protection since we were on 2008 and 2007. I redirect all my spam to a quarantine mailbox and examine it daily for false positives.
When I find one I click "Send Again" from the message in the quarantine mailbox to forward it on to the original sender. Normally Oulook automatically populates it with the original recipient. Today I noticed one that, for some reason, inserted "groupwise-"
in the front of the address(so for example "[email protected]:3:1") This concerns me as there is no such address and I have no idea where it is pulling this address from. I don't
use groupwise software. The quarantine mailbox has info in a postmaster and abuse reporting email. It shows the address correctly as "[email protected]" Only when you click "Send Again" does it
insert this groupwise address. Any ideas why?
This has only happened on one email so far.
    Thanks.

  • Exchange 2013 SP1 server working for several months now messages are getting stuck in drafts folder

This a small, simple environment. There is a MS Server 2012 R2 server hypervisor with a MS Server 2012 R2 VM running Exchange 2013 patched to SP1.  This server has been deployed into production and passing mail without issues for several months.
Upon initial deployment, we experienced the issue that many have reported and that has been widely documented where Mail Flow works fine inbound, but outbound will stick in the drafts folder. We resolved the issue by manually configuring the IP Address of
our internal DNS server (which is an installed role on our hypervisior / base layer server).  The issue was immediately resolved and mail was flowing in both directions without issue.  We later installed SP1 and there was no issue.  Mail has
been flowing normally all the while.
Now fast-forward through several weeks of reliable mail delivery... We experienced a power loss and a system shutdown and upon reboot, inbound is working and outbound goes to drafts.  I've confirmed DNS Lookup settings in ECP still points to our internal
server as previously configured.  Both servers have internet access, NSLOOKUP returns expected values, and DNS appears to be working normally.
I'm not sure if we had an MS Update that installed with the reboot that caused the breakage, if there was a lingering settings change that took effect on reboot, or what is causing the interruption.  I'm looking for some fresh ideas on where to look
for answers, and all the information available on the drafts folder issue points to DNS settings that have already been put in place.
Any constructive ideas are welcome!   Thanks in advance.
    David

    Amit,
Long story short, I'm not sure how or why, but there were a few automatic services that were not starting "automatically."  I'm used to seeing some services that are triggered by the application to start and stop on their own, so I didn't necessarily
panic when there were a few automatic services that were stopped..
However, The MS Exchange Health Manager, and the Mailbox Submission services weren't running.  After manually starting the services my drafts folder emptied and we are back in business.. Maybe not "innovative" as you said, but it certainly put us on
the right track.  We were looking so hard at DNS because of all the reported cases of "stuck in drafts" being related to DNS, we totally overlooked the obvious, so THANKS!
Now the only question is, what stopped the services and why did they not restart automatically??

  • Exchange 2013 autodiscover not working from Externally

    Hi
i have exchange 2010 sp3(2Mb, 2hub/cas). I installed exchange 2013 servers(2MB, 2CAS). For coexistence i generated new certifcate with new cas from third party. I installed that certificate in that cas and assigned all services. i changed all my virtual
directories service url. I didnt import the new certificate to exchange 2010 cas server and i didnt change url to legacy link. But still iam able to check exchange 2010 user mailbox owa, activesync and autodiscover without any certificate error.
If i try to browse owa, its going to 2013 server, if user is exchange 2010 user and its redirecting to exchange 2010 owa with same link.
But i dont know how above things is working without importing to new certificate...
Main problem is i am not able to configure exchange 2013 users outlookanywhere, Autodiscover from externally...
So in tmg i pointed the outlook anywhere ip address new cas server, now both exchange 2010 and exchange 2013 users while OA from external, its keep on asking password... Not accepting it...
Please help me to fix this issue..

    Hi ,
On TMG please have the outlook anywhere rule like below and check the status.
    Step
    1 :
On the TMG rule - >authentication delegation ---> select the option "no delegation users can authenticate directly"
    Step
    2 :
on the users tab in the TMG rule - just add "all users" group on that rule.
By having the above settings we have avoided the issues in your environment.
Note : Based on the above setting's , Each and everyone in exchange will have a access to the outlook anywhere from external world , because there would not be having any restriction on the TMG rules.
Please have a look in to the below link , it will give you some ideas which is related to TMG

  • Exchange 2013 OOF not working for migrated accounts

We are having a problem with the Out of Office responses in Exchange 2013.
We are getting the error “Your automatic reply settings cannot be displayed because the server is currently unavailable.
Try again later.”  I have been through several help articles that I found on the internet and so far none have resolved the problem.
Autodiscover is working as expected when connecting an Outlook client – and I can access the url identified by the “Test Email AutoConfiguration” tool for OOF – it returns the xml document as expected. New accounts created in this domain work, but the
problem occurs accounts that were migrated from Server 2003 domain running Exchange 2007. I can also access the OOF settings for a migrated account using OWA. The new domain is 2012 and Exchange 2013 and accounts are being migrated using ADMT through a trust,
which is working as expected.  Only the accounts have been migrated (not mailboxes) and I am not planning to connect the old exchange to the new to do mailbox moves – instead I am just planning to export psts from the old Exchange 2007 server
and then import them to the 2013 server.  The client dns settings are correct and all other connectivity seems fine.
Any ideas are greatly appreciated.  I have also tried creating a new Outlook profile, turning off Cached Mode, and creating an entirely new Windows profile and Outlook profile.
I have also tried using Outlook 2007, Outlook 2010 and Outlook 2013.

I solved this - EWS was disabled for the mailbox.  Set-CASMailbox -Identity User -EWSEnabled $true fixed the problem.

  • Exchange 2013 Malware Filter and ScanningProcess.exe

    Hi all...
We have an Exchange 2013 environment with an external Mail Security Appliance (FortiMail),  because of this our Malware Filter was disabled, but the process ScanningProcess.exe (Microsoft Filtering Server Scanning Process) are still running and
sometimes hangs the CPU for several minutes scanning attachments.
Is there a method to disable the process and avoid the CPU high use?
(all servers have Exchange 2013 CU7)

    Hi Nico,
According to the description, I know it doesn't send to Mailbox-B a Alert Text as expected, just like following problem:
After the appaling result, i made an additional test. I tested to send internal Malware mails from Mailbox-A to Mailbox-B. The Mail was send from Mailbox-A with no interruption and only on the receive Mailbox-B the attachment was deleted.
I suggest double check this issue on OWA to verify whether Mailbox-B have received the Alert Text.
If in OWA everything is OK, it seems an issue on the Outlook client side.
If this issue exists in OWA, I suggest get the Malware Policy in details to check whethe it specifies some limitation.
    Thanks

  • Exchange 2013 SPAM filter- can wildcards be used for partial word matching?

We have migrated to Exchange 2013 and have set up the Anti-Spam and Anti-Malware features.  One thing I am trying to figure out is how to setup a wildcard filter for partial words.  For example, I have Viagra listed but it doesn't catch something
like USviagra.  How would I set a filter for catching anything that ahs the word Viagra buried in it?
    Thanks.

I have also seem a large increase in spam since upgrading to Exchange 2013.The malware engines are enabled and content filtering is turned on but everyone is getting about 20 emails a day from the Pfizer eStore. ForeFront used to block it all.
Also images are blocked in standard emails but in these Viagra emails the images all show!
The title is always a bit different too and it is spelt with extra i's. Surely this shouldn't be too much and defeat the content filter!

  • Exchange 2013 backscatter issue - recipient validation without Edge

    Hello all,
It looks like there is a flaw by design in Exchange 2013 recipient validation, which in turn causes backscatter issues. I failed to find a way around it, maybe someone could help.
The Design: 2 x Exchange 2013 CAS + MBX servers (hardware NLB & DAG)
Version: Exchange Server 2013 Cumulative Update 3 (CU3) (Version
    15.0 (Build 775.38)  )
    The issue:
Recipient validation has a flaw, which is documented (probably that should make it a "feature", but it doesn't):
In short - Recipient validation on Mailbox servers blocks message to all recipients, if at least one of them is non-existent.
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/12181f43-7173-44dd-998a-9307f92ffc5d/exchange-2013-casmbx-recipient-validation-rejects-entire-message-if-any-of-recipients-are-invalid
As there is no way to explain the logic of blocking e-mails to valid recipients if at least one of them is invalid to a customer, the Recipient validation on Mailbox servers becomes unusable and is disabled.
But if the recipient validation is disabled, the Exchange design without Edge servers or other perimeter SMTP servers that could block e-mails to non-existent recipients, becomes vulnerable to backscatter SPAM attacks, since Exchange will always send out
    NDR to the FROM address.
According to the answer in the thread mentioned above, other antispam features should prevent it, but as always with antispam - it's not even close to 100% effective, as recipient validation would be. The result - an entry in backscatterer.org.
Question: How to prevent backscatter in Exchange 2013 without Edge servers, and without loosing valid e-mails due to recipient validation bug ("feature")?
    Thank You for Your help.
    Sincerely,
    Vince

  • Exchange 2013 and SCOM False Events

We are having many problems with the health monitoring of exchange in our SCOM 2012 environment. We have 9 exchange servers, with 3 DAGS across the 9 servers. WE are constantly getting health events in SCOM, even for monitors i've explicitly disabled. For
example, the FIPS monitor. Following this guide (http://blogs.technet.com/b/exchange/archive/2013/08/13/customizing-managed-availability.aspx) i disabled the FIPS probes/monitors all together across our entire Exchange environment, and yet in SCOM, all 9 servers
show this monitor as being unhealthy. Is my understanding on this functionality incorrect, or is it just not functioning properly?
Similarly, even when an Exchange monitor is completely healthy, it shows as unhealthy in SCOM. Right now, HubTransport shows as unhealthy in SCOM For all our Exchange servers, but when i run this command everything shows as healthy, across all servers.
    Get-ServerHealth <server name> | ?{$_.HealthSetName -eq "HubTransport"}
I understand that these monitors can be unhealthy for a while and correct themselves, but shouldn't that correct them in SCOM as well? And for disabled monitors, like FIPS, they should never be unhealthy at all. So why are they showing as unhealthy in SCOM?
Am i expected to reset health in SCOM every time an unhealthy flag is thrown in Exchange?
From what i've seen there is a huge discrepancy between how SCOM works and how Exchange monitors work. They don't seem to integrate well, at all. Does anyone have any suggestions on getting Exchange 2013 monitors to work properly in SCOM? Is this my error
as a user, or is it just bad software

    Hi,
I recommend you use the Get-HealthReport cmdlet to check Exchange Server health again.
What's more, please verify if the account you use has the Organization Management permission and Server Management permission. Also, you can change an account and see the result.
Moreover, please take your time to post the unhealthy information from SCOM monitor about Exchange server for my further research.
    Hope my clarification is helpful.
If there is any update, please feel free to let me know.

  • Exchange 2013 SP1 and CUCM 9.1.2 - Exch not recognizing called extension

I think I'm almost there in getting Exchange 2013 SP1 UM working with CUCM 9.1.2...I've got two issues at the moment that I need a little help with.
    1) When I dial my VM pilot (6040) from a UM enabled extension it prompts to enter an extension. When I dial the same extension and let it ring to VM, Exchange picks up and says "the person you are trying to reach does not have a valid voice mail box
    on our system".
    2) This just started happening this afternoon, when I dial my VM pilot (6040) exch3 picks up as thats what I have my route pattern pointing to. If I enter the extension of a mailbox on exch2, I get stuck in a endless loop.
I've followed this post as a guide but it hasn't resolved my issue.
    https://supportforums.cisco.com/discussion/11914031/exchange-2013-um-and-cucm-86
My Exchange environment looks like this:
    Site 1:
exch1 - CAS/Mailbox, used for mainly utility type work, journal, dedicated SMTP flows etc
    exch2 - CAS/Mailbox, part DAG13
    exch3 - CAS/Mailbox, part of DAG13
    Site 2:
    exch2dr - CAS/Mailbox, part of DAG13
    exch3dr - CAS/Mailbox, part of DAG13
DAG13 is stretched between two sites, there are no users at our DR site so CUCM is pointing to Site 1 for UM. Each site has an internet facing CAS-only server for OWA/EAS etc.
Any help is greatly appreciated. I'd love to get rid of Unity.
    EDIT:
I just found this event in the event logs:
The Microsoft Exchange Unified Messaging service on the Mailbox server received a diverted call with ID "d51600-3a3140c5-9b8-c1414ac@EXCH3-IPADDR" for extension "4099" on UM dial plan "CUCM" from UM IP gateway "CUCM IP",
but no UM-enabled mailbox for the corresponding extension could be found. Please check the extension and make sure that the corresponding mailbox is enabled for UM and associated with the correct UM dial plan.

9.1.2 I think it is, we upgraded to avoid the known DNS bug
I cant see how to PM you either
The crux of it was outlined below with some tweaks
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/canitpro/archive/2014/04/30/step-by-step-integration-between-exchange-2013-um-and-cisco-unified-communication-manager.aspx
As we have multiple combined role servers, our trunks are set up as follows:
    1. 1 x CAS Trunk - contains all CAS Servers on port 5060
    2. 4 x MBX Trunks - contains Maibox Server with ports 5062-5068
On top of that, we had to Allow "Redirecting Diversion Header Delivery - Inbound (and Outbound)" on the CAS Trunk but DISABLE it on the Mailbox Trunks
Also, make sure that you are using Telephone Extension Dial plans in Exchange 2013 (Despite them being unable to be associated with a 13 Server - EX13 answers for all calls anyway)
Lastly, the MS documentation is a little strange - it says that as your last step of UM migration, you should point your Call Manager to 2013 - I don't agree with that statement, EX13 routes calls back to 2010 UM Servers perfectly fine, so treat it the same
as any other CAS based service - point to 2013, and it will handle the rest

  • Exchange 2013 Load Balancing Question

    Hey Everyone,
I have recently started building up my companies Exchange 2013 environment and ran into some questions that I can't seem to find clear answers for on Google.
First, a little bit about my set up:
    2 CAS Servers
    2 Mailbox Servers
Citrix NetScaler load balancing the external URL (Controlling all incoming ports 25, 80, 443, 587, 993, and 995) to both of my CAS servers
This is not doing SSL offloading, it's just forwarding encrypted traffic to the CAS servers
I have configured a DAG between the 2 mailbox servers and am able to actively move the database my user account is on between the 2 copies with outlook disconnecting / reconnecting in about 10 - 15 seconds of moving it.
My questions started when I saw what Outlook was filling in for the "Server" field once autodiscover set it up.  I found this very strange server name in it:  *** Email address is removed for privacy ***
Once I read up on it, I think i understand what it does.   If i understand correctly, this weird URL is sort of like an old CAS array from Exchange 2010.  When I started testing the failover is when I started running into issues.
When I shut down one of my mailbox servers, my outlook will lose connection and it won't come back.  The mailbox database that my user account is on successfully failed over to the other DAG copy but outlook never correctly connects.  I
believe this issue has something to do with the new CAS functions of Exchange 2013 since DAG works fine.
If I look at my "Connection Status" in Outlook, I see that there are several connections open.  All of them have a Proxy server address of "exchange.domain.com" and out of the 3 that show up there, they are all pointed to
    the weird URL mentioned above.
Whew, long post but let me summarize my questions below:
    1)  If exchange is configured to be fully redundant, why does my outlook disconnect when I shut down one of the servers?
    2)  What is the weird URL pointing to that I mentioned above that is showing in outlook?
    3)  How can I get outlook to correctly not lose it's connection when any 1 of the servers goes down?
    Thanks,
    Zac

    Hi,
According to your description, it seems that the load balancer did not configure successfully.
I recommend you refer to the following article to configure the load balancer for Exchange 2013 :

  • Exchange 2013 ECP failure after installing RDP

  • Remove Exchange 2007 from an Exchange 2013 coexistence.

    Hey everyone,
I've just installed Exchange 2013 on a new server and all is working great.  It is currently in coexistence with our old Exchange 2007 server.  I've since shut the server down and Exchange 2013 has been working without issue.  However, I haven't
been able to find any articles on this matter so I figured I would ask the question here.
How do you remove Exchange 2007 from the coexistence.  Do I just uninstall Exchange 2007 from the old server and it will remove itself from the server and the domain?  Any help/link on this matter would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you,
    Chris

    Hi Simon,
I am about to do the same exercise as Chris,  I just would like some clarity.
    1) When you say mailbox Database, do you mean make sure there are no more mailboxes that you want to move over, or are you actually meaning delete the physical DB on the exchange 2007 server.
    2) If there is no use of public folders does anything need to happen?
    Thanks,
    Terry
