Exchange 2013 - Shared Calendar problems

Since we put in Exchange 2013 in July 2013 we have had a problem with Shared Calendars.  Even though a User has Owner Permission on another Calendar, New Appointment is Grayed Out and the User cannot add or amend and occasionally Outlook will hang.
We have tried Outlook 2010 and 2013 Clients as well as Cached Mode and Online Access.  Exchange Server Standard 2013 CU2 was installed and this seemed to stop the problem for a while and now it has returned.
Permissions have been removed and reapplied both through the Exchange Powershell Interface and on the Mailbox.  All other aspects of the system seem fine.
Any advice would be welcome.

Hi,
Please check your application logs in your Exchange server. Confirm whether there are some error logs such as Event 9646.
It may because there are too many users connect to shared calendar at the same time that cause this issue. And there is a limit on the number of items that clients can open.
If so, we can change regedit
on the Exchange computer to resolve this issue. For more information, please click the following KB:

  • IPhone 4S Outlook 2010 shared Calendar problem

    Hello all,
There problem to see in Outlook 2010 shared calendar in iPhone 4S. In iPhone 4S there is seen owner calendar of added Exchange Server account, but I need to see other one person shared calendar which is impossible to see. I see in iPhone 4S two calendars as added, but when I open calendar I see entries only for one account.
Where is problem and how to solve it?
    Thanks.
    Best Regards,
    Girts

I had the same problem where I could open a shared calendar in OWA but it would not work in Outlook 2010. When I clicked on the shared folder I got the error message 'outlook cannot open this folder'. The problem ended up being that the person
whose calendar was being shared was hidden on the exchange server ('hide from exchange address lists' had been selected). To resolve the issue we had to unhide the user, update the OAB on the server and then update the OAB on the desktop. We could then share
the calendar, accept the share and then hide the user again.
Sounds like I have the same issue too.  Where do I go to do all the resolve part?  Where do I unhide the user?  I am guessing OAB means offline address book.
    Thanks

  • Exchange 2013 & 2010 coexist problem. Authentication Credentials Prompt in Outlook

    Hello Forum
We have two Exchange servers coexisting together. A new 2013 and a old 2010.
Everything was setup with the help of the Exchange Deployment Assistant.
I have had alot of trouble with Outlook 2013 Prompting for credentials on Exchange 2013 Mailboxes. None of the 2010 Mailboxes expericence this popup.
I solved most of the popup issues with this by changing the ExternalClientAuthenticationMethod to ntlm.(from negotiate)
    http://blog.gothamtg.com/2013/10/15/users-constantly-prompted-for-credentials-after-being-migrated-to-exchange-2013/
and installing this update for Outlook:
    http://support2.microsoft.com/kb/2899504/en-us
Now 2013 Mailboxes Work without any anoying popups. Except when they try to open another users mailbox that is located on the old 2010 server or a shared 2010 calander.
The connection to Exchange 2010 is working if I input the users password, but should it not work without this popup too?
This connections name acording to Outlook is called: Exchange-Mail RPC/HTTP (remote [NTLM])
We use the same domain for external and internal autodiscover connections.
Test Exchange Connectivity Analyzer shows everything ok.
    If i run
    get-outlookanywhere | fl *external*
    (2013 server)
    ExternalHostname                   : webmail.domain.com
    ExternalClientAuthenticationMethod : Ntlm
    ExternalClientsRequireSsl          : True
    (2010 server)
    ExternalHostname                   : webmail.domain.com
    ExternalClientAuthenticationMethod : Basic
    ExternalClientsRequireSsl          : True
Only one thing I am wondering here is. If I change my old 2010 Auth Method to NTLM if that will break anything i OWA and so on.
What do you Guys have setup in your environments and can you point me towards any troubleshooting?
    Thanks!

For us, the changes made in IIS are permanent, there quite possibly is a powershell way of doing it but I am still getting to grips with PS myself so I don't know.
I wont plagiarise others work but these two links here give a good explanation between Basic and NTLM. personally, I have always used basic because I always seem to get problems with NTLM, though one time it did work as expected but I forgot what I did to
    get it working now.

  • Outlook 2013 shared calendars show "no connection" and users can't see other's free / busy time in scheduling assistant

    Info:
Outlook 2013 Pro Plus - Windows 7 64bit - Exchange 2007 Hosted by Rack Space - everything fully patched....
every user in our company on Office 2013 now has the same issue: shared calendars won't populate with the following error: "no connection" when they try to see another user's calendar in scheduling assistant, it just shows those diagonal lines
    (like they don't have permission)
Based on "research", reaching out to Rack Space and some desperate Googling, I've tried the following to no avail:
run full repair of Microsoft office 2013 and also reinstalled Office 2013
turn off /on cached exchange mode, turned off /on Work Offline mode
    rebuild OST and email profile
start Outlook in safe mode with no add-ins running
check auto discover records and add auto discover server address to local intranet zone in Internet Explorer
modify calendar permissions for both ends of the calendar interaction
check Outlook OWA access, confirmed everything is fine there
anyone have any ideas for me? people in Outlook 2010 have no issues BTW; just Outlook 2013....
thank you so much in advance and please let me know if I can provide more info!

    Hi,
This issue may be caused by KB 2837643 & KB 2837618, please uninstall the patches, let the users create a new profile to test the result:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/829918/en-us
If the issue is caused by the patches, please note we have realized this issue and hopefully there will be a fix to this issue soon. We will inform you as soon as there's a fix.

  • Outlook 2007 Shared calendars problem

    Hi,
We are having a problem with shared calendars in outlook 2007. A colleague went on holiday for two weeks and whilst he was away, he was seeing people accepting new meeting times sent by the PAs but despite being an invitee he wasnt recieving invites and
    his calendar didn't update.
His calendar is shared with the PA, and she changes his appointments as and when required. Until this week, this worked no problem. Now, when she changes events on his calendar, he doesn't see the change, even when re-synched it shows no different.
Occasionally, he will create an event himself - he did this today to show me - he created the meeting, invited the board, they all accepted, and then voila, the event was in the board's calendar (showing as HIS event) but wasn't in his calendar at all.
I'm alright at email and exchange but I don't use and know nothing about outlook calendars (I'm still a strong believer in the Filofax ;))
    Please help!
    Jak

So sorry -- I shut down Outlook and restarted it to find that both add-ins were now present, and everything seems to be working. Unfortunately, I don't know how to delete this thread.

  • Exchange 2013 - Shared Mailbox Permissions

Here is what I am trying to do. I would like to create a shared mailbox in exchange 2013 for time off requests for my employees. I will have the mailbox to be something like
[email protected] If an employee is sick or requesting time off, they can email this shared mailbox or send a meeting request.
I would then like the ability for ALL employees to be able to have read access to the mailbox and Calendar associated with it, and I would like to have managers have Full access to it and to be able to approve calendar requests so that they are entered into
    the calendar.
Is this possible? How can I set read only to the inbox and calendar for a shared mailbox? I would also like to be able to have the shared mailboxes automatically added to all user's Outlook.
    Thanks!

Simply grant Full Access to the managers.  Then for everyone else you can grant read only access to just the Calendar.
Here is an example on how to do this -
    http://exchangeshare.wordpress.com/2009/07/07/how-to-setup-read-only-mailbox-in-exchange-20032007/.
Let me know if that works.

  • Exchange 2013 Shared Mailbox Get-MailboxSentItemsConfiguration SP1 Help

    Hello
    My Setup
    Server1: Server 2012 Standard + Exchange 2013 CU2 Standard (MBX+CAS)
    Server2: Server 2012 Standard + Exchange 2013 CU2 Standard (MBX+CAS)
    DAG Enable
I am having problems with Shared mailboxes, when sending E-mail from the Shared mailbox the sent E-mail will show up in the recipients Sent Items insted of the Shared mailbox sent Items.
I know that in Exchange 2010 Later SP and RU there where a PowerShell command that could send a copy to the Shared mailbox Sent Items (Get-MailboxSentItemsConfiguration)
but it doesn't seem to be there anymore, does anyone know if the cmdlet is back in CU3 or SP1? will it come back?
there is a workaround (Registry) but it doesn't help us, not for our environment.
Can I set this up by Outlook rules or maybe some kind of forwarding?
If you have any experience with this, feel free to give some advice.
    Thank You very much!

    Hi,
*.MailboxSentItemsConfiguration has not been brought back in CU3 or CU4/SP1 and I don't know if it ever will be.
If DelegateSentItemsStyle configured in the registry is not an option for you, then using multiple Exchange accounts in the same Outlook Profile might be. The support for that was added in Outlook 2010 and personally, I like that option a lot.

  • Sherweb Hosted Exchange - Trouble Sharing Calendars

We use a Sherweb hosted Exchange server and use Apple Mail, iCal and our iPhones to access our contacts, email and calendar information from the Exchange Server. The Exchange setup with Snow Leopard worked well (we're able to access our contacts, email and calendars using the built in Apple programs). However, I can't access the shared calendars of other users in our Exchange Server. It works well when I use Entourage, but I would prefer to use iCal to access the shared calendars. Has anyone had any luck getting iCal calendar sharing to work with a Sherweb hosted Exchange server? I think that the default server settings the Snow Leopard put in place aren't allowing the shared calendars to work properly. Any ideas?
    Thanks for your help.

I had the same problem - iCal synced fine before the 10.6.3 update. I found this post and it worked great - "it seems the OS upgrade accidentally deletes your outgoing server information. you should go to preferences and re input them. For me and i am working off exchange 2007, they were:
    Server Path: /EWS/Exchange.asmx
    External Server: mail.myhostedexchange.com
I got the sherweb path preferences from my Entourage preferences.

  • Exchange 2013 - Mail receive problem -Help!

Exchange 2013 SP1 -fresh install -test environment with one test mailbox setup in addition to the Administrator account. Using default Receive Connectors and it is set for Anonymous. Using OWA and Outlook 2010 for testing.
We can send/receive mail INTERNALLY in both Outlook & OWA between our test user and the Administrator user.
We can send mail externally from both accounts.
We are not receiving mail into the Inbox of either OWA or Outlook.
We are not seeing any authentication issues with Outlook -always shows connected to Exchange. But if we have same problem in OWA then we are just testing with it for now.
We ran the Microsoft Connectivity Analyzer for both Inbound and Outbound SMTP and it passed with no errors/warnings L
We did NSLOOKUP, from a Command prompt at the server wtith this result -not sure why it shows server as unknown?:

Thank you for replying. Yes the mailbox is at Time Warner and I can use their webmail interface and see the messages I sent to the test user are there.
No, our domain name is companyname.com  (if you need the actual name..I am not sure if I should send it to you?) and we use
    [email protected] for email.
Our external A records and MX records are at Network solutions and that is posted here-- but decided to start another thread with more concise information as I learned of it:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/0b18e928-0207-4ab9-bc12-c00a75088bdc/new-deployment-outlook-can-send-but-not-receiving-messages?forum=exchangesvrsecuremessaging
When I do NSLOOKUP of our domain I get just the two MX records at Time Warner. Not anything with our actual domain name for email in it. I just added the A records for mail.companyname.com and autodiscover at Network Solutions yesterday...but though those
were only for use externally for OWA, ActiveSync, etc
Note we do not use Split-DNS on our internal domain either. Our AD name is different than our public domain name - The AD is named with a subdomain: qs.companyname.com
Lastly, I did not create an MX record at network solutions for mail.domainname.com. Should I do that and set it to a higher priority?

  • Outlook / Exchange 2010 shared calendars performance

Hi, we are using Outlook 2010 connecting to Exchange 2010 over a WAN (120ms average RTT). Cached mode is forced on all clients. Our users are finding that performance of shared calendars is very poor in "online" mode. However as they are all using Outlook
2010, checking "download shared folders" means that ALL secondary mailbox folders are cached and we don't want this to happen. Users are typically PAs who have been granted full mailbox access to their exec's mailbox. These users may have several shared calendars
open at once which makes the situation even worse.
Is there a way that we can revert Outlook 2010 to the previous 2007 behaviour whereby with secondary mailboxes only the calendar / contacts etc are cached? I have seen articles referring to a reg value "CacheOthersMail" that can be added but this seems to
have no effect on a couple of clients we've tried - if the "download shared folders" option is checked, everything is still cached, and if it's unchecked, everything switches to "online".
    Any help appreciated,
    Nick

Yes, setting that registry key to 0 should do the trick. You might need to recreate the mail profile though or recreate the ost-file to directly get rid of what is currently being cached.
As you've currently forced the caching by a GPO, check your policy keys as well.

  • 2013 Shared Calendar Notifications for Calendar Owner

    Hello:
Previously in Outlook 2010, I was able to create a shared calendar that would notify me when someone made an appointment on that calendar because I was the owner.  I'm trying to mimic that scenario, but I'm having a hard time being notified of new entries.
     How can I achieve this?
    Thank you!

    Hi,
Which notification did you get in Outlook 2010 when someone made an appointment on the shared calendar?
As far as I know, we are not able to monitor message change on mailbox folder including calendar folder.
Exchange 2010 introduces new mailbox audit logging functionality that can track actions taken on mailbox items such as moving or deleting a message. For details, see Audit Logging Improvements at
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff459257.aspx.
However, it is a log record but not a notification message, the mailbox audit cannot notify you if there is a change unless you check the log.
If you really want a notification, maybe we can achieve this via VBA. If you are familiar with coding, you can check and modify the code sample here:
    http://www.slipstick.com/developer/send-email-when-you-add-appointment-to-calendar/
Since we are not the best source for coding, if you need further assistance on coding, you can post a question in the Outlook for Developers forum:

  • Exchange 2010 users cannot open Exchange 2013 shared mailbox

    Title says it all.
We're in the process of migrating 1000+ mailboxes to Exchange 2013. A number of shared mailboxes have been migrated, but those users still on 2010 cannot open them.
Is this just how it is, or is there a way around it?

    Hi,
I tested in my lab, if the shared mailbox is on Exchange 2010, I could open this shared mailbox successfully. Then I moved this shared mailbox to Exchange 2013, after that, I couldn’t open it anymore, I got the following error:
Besides, I tried to open a shared mailbox on Exchange 2013 which was not moved from Exchange 2010, it is the same error message.
Based on the test, it seems that Exchange 2010 users can’t open shared mailbox on Exchange 2013. So I recommend you move those users to Exchange 2013.
